1Combination of Qualitative Information with 2-Tuple Linguistic Representation in DSmT显示文摘Modern systems for information retrieval,fusion and management need to deal more and more with information coming from human experts usually expressed qualitatively in natural language with linguistic labels.In this paper,we propose and use two new 2-Tuple linguistic representation models(i.e.,a distribution function model(DFM) and an improved Herrera-Martínez's model) jointly with the fusion rules developed in Dezert-Smarandache Theory(DSmT),in order to combine efficiently qualitative information expressed in term of qualitative belief functions.The two models both preserve the precision and improve the efficiency of the fusion of linguistic information expressing the global expert's opinion.However, DFM is more general and efficient than the latter,especially for unbalanced linguistic labels.Some simple examples are also provided to show how the 2-Tuple qualitative fusion rules are performed and their advantages.李新德 Florentin Smarandache Jean Dezert 戴先中 2009Journal of Computer Science & Technology2009,24,4:5
2Proton pump inhibitor-induced hypomagnesemia: A new challenge显示文摘Proton pump inhibitors(PPIs)are commonly used in clinical practice for the prevention and treatment of peptic ulcer,gastritis,esophagitis and gastroesophageal reflux.Hypomagnesemia has recently been recognized as a side effect of PPIs.Low magnesium levels may cause symptoms from several systems,some of which being potentially serious,such as tetany,seizures and arrhythmias.It seems that PPIs affect the gastrointestinal absorption of magnesium.Clinicians should be vigilant in order to timely consider and prevent or reverse hypomagnesemia in patients who take PPIs,especially if they are prone to this electrolyte disorder.Matilda Florentin Moses S Elisaf 2012World Journal of Nephrology2012,1,6:5
3Characterization of the negative carbon isotope shift in segment C2,its global implications as a harbinger of OAEla显示文摘Lower Cretaceous C-isotope records show intermittent negative/positive spikes,and consistent patterns of coeval chemostratigraphic curves thus document shifts that signal simultaneous responses of temporal changes in the global carbon reservoir.The standard pattern registered by theδ^(13)C_(org)andδ^(13)C_(carb)in Lower Aptian sediments includes distinct isotope segments C1 to C8(Menegatti et al.,1998).In the El Pui section,Organya Basin,Spain,C-isotope segment C2 is the longest interval preceding segments C3-C6 associated with oceanic anoxic event la(OAE la),and reveals a distinct negative shift of^1.8‰to^2.23‰defining the C-isotope pattern within that interval.Total inorganic carbon(TIC),total organic carbon(TOC),δ^(13)C_(org),microfacies,n-alkanes show no difference before,during,or after the negative inflection.The biomarkers indicate that organic matter(OM)mainly originates from algal/microbial sources because short-chain length homologues(≤nC_(19))dominate.nC_(20)through nC_(25)indicate some contribution from aquatic vegetation,but little from higher plants(>nC_(25)),as also suggested by the terrestrial/aquatic ratio of n-alkanes or(TAR)=[(nC_(27)+nC_(29)+nC_(31))/(nC_(15)+nC_(17)+nC_(19))](averages 0.085).We suggest that conjoint pulses of contemporaneous LIPs(Ontong Java)and massive explosive volcanism in northeast Asia,the Songliao Basin(SB-V),best conform to plausible causes of the negative intra-C2 carbon isotopic excursion(CIE)at that time.Because of its apparent common occurrence the intra-C2 inflection could be a useful marker harbinger to the more pronounced CIE C3,the hallmark of OAE1a.Jander SOCORRO Florentin J-M. 6Interleukin-6 mediates neutrophil mobilization from bone marrow in pulmonary hypertension显示文摘Myeloid cells,such as neutrophils,are produced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are important in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as pulmonary hypertension(PH).Although neutrophil recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied,the mechanisms of neutrophil egress from the bone marrow are not well understood.Using computational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrophils in the lungs of patients and mice with PH.Moreover,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of patients and mice with PH.We observed that transgenic mice overexpressing Il-6 in the lungs displayed elevated neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrophil recruitment to the lungs,resulting in exacerbated pulmonary vascular remodeling,and dysfunctional hemodynamics.Mechanistically,we found that IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow was dependent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated CX3CR1 expression in neutrophils.Consequently,Cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematopoietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrophil egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrophil counts in the lungs,thus ameliorating pulmonary remodeling and hemodynamics.In summary,these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therapeutic target to curtail neutrophil-mediated inflammation in pulmonary vascular disease.Jonathan Florentin Jingsi Zhao Yi-Yin Tai Sathish Babu Vasamsetti Scott P.O’Neil Rahul Kumar Anagha Arunkumar Annie Watson John Sembrat Grant C.Bullock Linda Sanders Biruk Kassa Mauricio Rojas Brian B.Graham Stephen Y.Chan Partha Dutta 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,2:3
7Recruitment and functionality traits as bioindicators of ecological restoration success in the Lurg Hills district,Victoria,Australia显示文摘Introduction:The Regent Honeyeater Project commenced ecological restoration in the Lurg district in 1994,with an aim to restore habitats for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater Anthochaera phrygia and a range of other threatened and declining species.Within this context,our study aimed to explore whether plant reproduction can be an effective measure of ecological restoration success.Methods:Evaluation involved comparing attributes at unrestored,restored and remnant sites to establish whether sites displayed evidence of a clear restoration trajectory.Five age classes(unrestored,4–6 years old,8–10 years old,12–14 years old and remnant areas)and two landforms(upper hills and lower hills)were considered.The diversity of woody plant species—which have easily recognisable reproductive material and which all recruit seedlings—provides easily measured parameters that have the potential to allow the determination of early establishment success and long-term ecological development of restored ecosystems.Results:Restoration plantings developed in a hybrid state towards a benchmark in the lower hills;seedling species composition differed significantly among age classes,increasing in similarity with time since restoration,with some divergence from the target pathway.Composition of functional groups with reproductive outputs was also significantly different among age classes;however,a restoration trajectory was only evident in the upper hills where sites converged towards the target goal.Conclusions:Divergence or deviation from the restoration trajectory was not deemed to be a restoration failure,as the variety of functional groups with fruits and diversity of seedlings recruiting indicated a potential increase in resilience in the future due to greater variability across the landscape.Plant recruitment was effective in detecting development trends towards a restoration target in this study and therefore may be a useful measure that contributes to determining ecological restoration success.Kristin Monie Singarayer Florentine Grant Palmer 2013Ecological Processes2013,2,1:3
8Role of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors in the new era of antidiabetic treatment显示文摘The last few years important changes have occurred in the field of diabetes treatment.The priority in the therapy of patients with diabetes is not glycemic control per se rather an overall management of risk factors,while individualization of glycemic target is suggested.Furthermore,regulatory authorities now require evidence of cardiovascular(CV)safety in order to approve new antidiabetic agents.The most novel drug classes,i.e.,sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors(SGLT2-i)and some glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1 RA),have been demonstrated to reduce major adverse CV events and,thus,have a prominent position in the therapeutic algorithm of hyperglycemia.In this context,the role of previously used hypoglycemic agents,including dipeptidyl peptidase 4(DPP-4)inhibitors,has been modified.DPP-4 inhibitors have a favorable safety profile,do not cause hypoglycemia or weight gain and do not require dose uptitration.Furthermore,they can be administered in patients with chronic kidney disease after dose modification and elderly patients with diabetes.Still,though,they have been undermined to a third line therapeutic choice as they have not been shown to reduce CV events as is the case with SGLT2-i and GLP-1 RA.Overall,DPP-4 inhibitors appear to have a place in the management of patients with diabetes as a safe class of oral glucose lowering agents with great experience in their use.Matilda Florentin Michael S Kostapanos Athanasia K Papazafiropoulou 2022World Journal of Diabetes2022,13,2:3
9Colonoscopy preparation-induced disorders in renal function and electrolytes显示文摘Colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy are commonly used mainly for colon cancer screening and detection, but also in several other situations such as inflammatory bowel disease (for diagnosis and follow up) and gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Bowel cleansing preparations mainly include polyethylene glycol and oral sodium phosphate solutions, with the later being most frequently used due to better toleration from patients. Despite their favourable safety profile these agents have been associated with renal function deterioration and electrolyte disorders, some of which were serious or even fatal. 10Plant recruitment and survival as indicators of ecological restoration success in abandoned pasture land in Nurcoung,Victoria,Australia显示文摘Introduction:One of the major impediments to developing better restoration strategies is the inadequate documentation of past restoration efforts.In 2008,Greening Australia commenced ecological restoration on the Nurcoung property in Victoria to enhance local biodiversity,and in this paper we report on the habitat restoration outcomes in the three Ecological Vegetation Classes(EVC)found on this property.Methods:Permanent sample plots(12×20 m)were randomly established in July 2010 in each of the restoration areas,with 9,10,and 24 plots demarcated in Shallow Sands Woodland(SSW),Heathy Woodland(HW),and Sandstone Ridge Woodlands(SRW),respectively.Individual plots were prepared to include three seeded rows.Plots were assessed for seedling recruitment and survival in May 2010,April 2011,and May 2012.Records of individual seedling development included their height and cover,and their location within the plot.Results:Our study shows that interaction between the age of the planted and direct-seeded vegetation and the nature of the EVC significantly affects the composition of plants and the soil surface in that species and,further,that soil cover parameters develop in different ways in the different experimental plots.A SIMPER analysis of soil cover parameters shows that most of the variation over the years of restoration is attributable to differences in the amount of bare soil recorded,rather than the amount of leaf-litter cover,and that these changes in soil cover parameters differ between EVCs over the sampling periods.The direct-seeding study shows that whilst most of the broadcast species were recruited,some species used in the Shallow Sands Woodland,the Heathy Woodland,and the Sandstone Ridge Shrubland did not show evidence of recruitment during the three sampling periods.Although the density of most seedlings increased in subsequent sampling years,the planted species Callitris gracilis,Callitris rhomboidea,Hakea muelleriana,and Melaleuca lanceolata did not survive.Conclusions:As a result of the land use change,new assemblages of abiotic and biotic system components appear to lead to the development of stable alternative ecological states.These‘novel’ecosystems now play an important part of the natural resource base,requiring careful characterization to better understand current development trajectories and future states,and to inform management strategies to meet desired restoration outcomes.Although the study sites have been abandoned for a long time,broadcast seeds and plant seedlings show they can overcome internal resilience.Singarayer K Florentine Jessica Gardner Friedrich P Graz Sean Moloney 2013Ecological Processes2013,2,1:2
