1Effect of Bi modification treatment on microstructure,tensile properties,and fracture behavior of cast Al-Mg_2Si metal matrix composite显示文摘Bi has a good modification effect on the hypoeutectic Al-Si alloy,and the morphology of eutectic Si changes from coarse acicular to fine fibrous.Based on the similarity between Mg2Si and Si phases in crystalline structure and crystallization process,the present study investigated the effects of different concentrations of Bi on the microstructure,tensile properties,and fracture behavior of cast Al-15wt.%Mg2Si in-situ metal matrix composite.The results show that the addition of the proper amount of Bi has a significant modification effect on both primary and eutectic Mg2Si in the Al-15wt.%Mg2Si composite.With an increase in Bi content from 0 to 1wt.%,the morphology of the primary Mg2Si is changed from irregular or dendritic to polyhedral shape;and its average particle size is significantly decreased from 70 to 6 μm.Moreover,the morphology of the eutectic Mg2Si phase is altered from flake-like to very short fibrous or dot-like.When the Bi addition exceeds 4.0wt.%,the primary Mg2Si becomes coarse again.However,the eutectic Mg2Si still exhibits the modified morphology.Tensile tests reveal that the Bi addition can improve the tensile strength and ductility of the material.Compared with those of the unmodified composite,the ultimate tensile strength and percentage elongation after fracture with 1.0wt.% Bi increase 51.2% and 100%,respectively.At the same time,the Bi addition changes the fracture behavior from brittle to ductile.Wu Xiaofeng Wang Zhe Zhang Guangan Wu Fufa 2013China Foundry2013,10,1:9
2Microstructure and mechanical properties of Fe_xCoCrNiMn high-entropy alloys显示文摘The microstructure and tensile properties of FexCo Cr Ni Mn high-entropy alloys(HEAs) were investigated.It was found that the FexCo Cr Ni Mn HEA has a single face-centered cubic(fcc) structure in a wide range of Fe content. Further increasing the Fe content endowed the FexCo Cr Ni Mn alloys with an fcc/bodycentered cubic(bcc) dual-phase structure. The yield strength of the FexCo Cr Ni Mn HEAs slightly decreased with the increase of Fe content. 3Mechanical Properties,Damage and Fracture Mechanisms of Bulk Metallic Glass Materials显示文摘The deformation,damage,fracture,plasticity and melting phenomenon induced by shear fracture were investi- gated and summarized for Zr-,Cu-,Ti-and Mg-based bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)and their composites.The shear fracture angles of these BMG materials often display obvious differences under compression and tension, and follow either the Mohr-Coulomb criterion or the unified tensile fracture criterion.The compressive plas- ticity of the composites is always higher than the tensile plasticity,leading to a significant inconsistency.The enhanced plasticity of BMG composites containing ductile dendrites compared to monolithic glasses strongly depends on the details of the microstructure of the composites.A deformation and damage mechanism of pseudo-plasticity,related to local cracking,is proposed to explain the inconsistency of plastic deformation under tension and compression.Besides,significant melting on the shear fracture surfaces was observed.It is suggested that melting is a common phenomenon in these materials with high strength and high elastic energy,as it is typical for BMGs and their composites failing under shear fracture.The melting mechanism can be explained by a combined effect of a significant temperature rise in the shear bands and the instantaneous release of the large amount of elastic energy stored in the material.Zhefeng ZHANG Fufa WU Guo HE Eckert 2007Journal of Materials Science & Technology2007,23,6:3
4Microstructural characteristics of in situ Mg_2Si/Al-Si composite by low superheat pouring显示文摘To control the morphology and size of the primary and eutectic Mg2Si phases in in situ Mg2Si/Al-Si composite and achieve a feasible and reliable technique to produce appropriate feedstock for the thixo-casting and rheo-casting of this type of material,three Al-Si matrix composites reinforced by 5wt.%,9wt.%and 17wt.%Mg2Si with hypoeutectic,eutectic and hypereutectic compositions were prepared by the low superheat pouring(LSP)process.The effects of the pouring temperature(superheat)on the morphology and size distribution of primary phases(primaryα-Al and Mg2Si),binary(α-Al+Mg2Si)eutectic cell and eutectic Mg2Si were investigated.The experimental results show that low pouring temperature(superheat)not only refines the grain structure of the primaryα-Al and binary(α-Al+Mg2Si)eutectic cell in three composites and promotes the formation of more nondendritic structural semi-solid metal(SSM)slurry of these phases;but also refines the primary and eutectic Mg2Si phases,which seems to be attributed to the creation of an ideal condition for the nucleation and the acquisition of a high survival of nuclei caused by the LSP process.Wu Xiaofeng Wang Zhe Zhang Guangan Wu Fufa 2013China Foundry2013,10,5:1
