| 1 | Three-dimensional artificial transpiration for efficient solar waste-water treatment显示文摘Solar steam generation is emerging as promising solar-energy conversion technology for potential applications in desalination, sterilization and chemical purification. Despite the recent use of photon management and thermal insulation, achieving optimum solar steam efficiency requires simultaneous minimization of radiation, convection and conduction losses without compromising light absorption.Inspired by the natural transpiration process in plants, here we report a 3 D artificial transpiration device with all three components of heat loss and angular dependence of light absorption minimized, which enables over 85% solar steam efficiency under one sun without external optical or thermal management. | 3 | Function identification of miR482b, a negative regulator during tomato resistance to Phytophthora infestans显示文摘Tomato is an important horticultural and economic crop cultivated worldwide.As Phytophthora infestans becomes a huge threat to tomato production,it is necessary to study the resistance mechanisms of tomato against P.infestans.Our previous research has found that miR482 might be involved in tomato–P.infestans interaction.In this study,miR482b precursor was cloned from Solanum pimpinellifolium“L3708”and miR482b was shown to decrease in abundance in tomato following P.infestans infection.Compared to wild-type tomato plants,tomato plants that overexpressed miR482b displayed more serious disease symptoms after P.infestans infection,with more necrotic cells,longer lesion diameters,and increased P.infestans abundance.Meanwhile,silencing of miR482b was performed by short tandem target mimic(STTM),resulting in enhancement of tomato resistance to P.infestans.Using miRNA and degradome data sets,NBS–LRR disease-resistance genes targeted by miR482b were validated.Negative correlation between the expression of miR482b and its target genes was found in all miR482b-overexpressing and-silencing tomato plants.Our results provide insight into tomato miR482b involved in the response to P.infestans infection,and demonstrate that miR482b–NBS–LRR is an important component in the network of tomato–P.infestans interaction. | Ning Jiang Jun Meng Jun Cui Guangxin Sun Yushi Luan | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 13 |

| 5 | Corrosion behavior of an Al-6Mg-Sc-Zr alloy显示文摘The corrosion behavior of an Al-6Mg-Sc-Zr alloy was studied and compared with that of an Al-6Mg-Zr alloy.The addition of scandium into the Al-6Mg-Zr alloy reduced the susceptibility to exfoliation corrosion. By using the constantload tensile method in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution, the resistance to SCC of the Al-6Mg-Sc-Zr alloy was higher than that ofthe Al-6Mg-Zr alloy. When the specimens were not applied with an anodic current, the Al-6Mg-Sc-Zr alloy was resistanceto SCC and no brittle cracking was found on the fracture surface. When an anodic current was applied, the Al-6Mg-Sc-Zralloy specimens failed as a result of accelerated corrosion rather than SCC. | 6 | Mechanisms underlying attenuation of apoptosis of cortical neurons in the hypoxic brain by flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi显示文摘Flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, an antioxidant, markedly improve memory impairments and neuronal injuries. In the present study, primary cortical neurons of rats were exposed to potassium cyanide to establish a model of in vitro neural cell apoptosis. Inhibition of apoptosis by flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi at concentrations of 18.98, 37.36, and 75.92 μg/mL was detected using this model. These flavonoids dramatically increased cell survival, inhibited cell apoptosis and excessive production of malondialdehyde, and increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and Na+-K+-ATPase in primary cortical neurons exposed to potassium cyanide. The flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi were originally found to have a polyhydric structure and to protect against cerebral hypoxia in in vitro and in vivo models, including hypoxia induced by potassium cyanide or cerebral ischemia. | 7 | Secondary biogenic coalbed gas in some coal fields of China显示文摘The secondary biogenic coalbed gas, a new genetic and energy source type of coalbed gas in China, has been found in Xinji, Liyazhuang and Enhong areas. The essential characteristics of this type of gas are: (i) the major component of the gas is methane, with C1/C1-5 value higher than 0.99, indicating that the gas is part of dry gas; (ii) theδ13C1 value is in the range of -61.7‰to -47.9‰, mostly lower than -55‰, which is much lower than the estimatedδ13C1 value of thermogenic methane according to the thermal evolution degree of the coal rocks (with R0 value from 0.87% to 1.43%), showing the characteristics of the secondary biogenic gas; (iii) theδ5D value of methane ranges from -244‰to -196‰; (iv)δ13C 2 value ranges from -26.7‰to -15.9‰andδ13C 3 value ranges from -10.8‰to -25.3‰, indicating that the heavier hydrocarbons have a thermogenic origin; (v) the content of CO2 is very low, andδ13CCO2 value changes greatly, reflecting a characteristic of secondary change; (vi)δ15N2 value ranges mainly from -1‰to +1‰, indicating N2 derived significantly from air. The negative linear correlation between the contents of N2 and CH4 reflects the activity of bacteria bearing surface water infiltrating into coal beds. The comprehensive tracing indices show that the coalbed gas in the studied areas is the mixed gas of primarily secondary biogenic gas and a part of remnant thermogenic gas. | 8 | Pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid protects against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in hippocampal neurons显示文摘Previous experimental studies have shown that cerebral infarction can be effectively reduced following treatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid(SSTF). However, the mechanism of action of SSTF as a preventive drug to treat cerebral infarction remains unclear. In this study, Sprague-Dawley rats were pretreated with 50, 100, 200 mg/kg SSTF via intragastric administration for 1 week prior to the establishment of focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. The results showed that pretreatment with SSTF effectively improved neurological function, reduced brain water content and the permeability of blood vessels, ameliorated ischemia-induced morphology changes in hippocampal microvessels, down-regulated Fas and Fas L protein expression, elevated the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, and decreased malondialdehyde content. In contrast to low-dose SSTF pretreatment, the above changes were most obvious after pretreatment with moderate- and high-doses of SSTF. Experimental findings indicate that SSTF pretreatment can exert protective effects on the brain against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. | 9 | Effects of disinhibition on spatiotemporal pattern of neuronal first recruitment in neuronal networks显示文摘The propagation of neuronal activities is a key feature to understanding information processing in networks. The analysis based on first-spikes of bursts in turn plays an important role in the research of neuronal activity propagation. Our focus here is to investigate how spatiotemporal patterns of neuronal first-spikes are affected by disinhibition. Multi-electrode arrays were used to record stimulation-evoked bursts of multiple neurons in randomly cultured neuronal networks. Both the precise timing of and the rank relationships between first-spikes were analyzed. Compared with evoked bursts in the network's native state, the precise first-spike latencies in its dis-inhibited state are more consistent and the propagation of its bursting activities is much faster. The body weight and food intake of rats subjected to chronic immobilization stress were significantly decreased compared with the control group. Dual-labeling immunofluorescence revealed that the expression of leptin receptor and the co-localization coeffient in these leptic receptor neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus were both upregulated, while the number of neuropeptide Y neurons was decreased. | 11 | BGMM: A Body Gauss-Markov Based Mobility Model for Body Area Networks显示文摘Existing mobility models have limitations in their ability to simulate the movement of Wireless Body Area Network(WBAN) since body nodes do not exactly follow either classic mobility models or human contact distributions. In this paper, we propose a new mobility model called Body Gauss–Markov Mobility(BGMM) model,which is oriented specially to WBAN. First, we present the random Gauss-Markov mobility model as the most suitable theoretical basis for developing our new model, as its movement pattern can reveal real human body movements. Next, we examine the transfer of human movement states and derive a simplified mathematical Human Mobility Model(HMM). We then construct the BGMM model by combining the RGMM and HMM models. Finally,we simulate the traces of the new mobility model. We use four direct metrics in our proposed mobility model to evaluate its performance. | 12 | Joint beamforming and scheduling in the downlink of cognitive radio networks显示文摘Cognitive radio has been recently proposed as a promising technology to improve the spectrum utilization. In this paper, we consider a system where a licensed radio spectrum is shared by a primary network and a secondary network. Based on the subspace theory, a novel low-complexity algorithm for secondary user selection has been proposed. On the basis of the scheduling scheme, we jointly consider transmit beamforming, scheduling and power allocation, and subsequently present a complete set of solution for secondary network downlink. Simulation results has shown that our proposed scheme not only can limit the introduced interference at primary users within the tolerable range, but also can achieve high sum-rate throughput of secondary network, simultaneously. | 14 | Simulation and evaluation of the water purification function of Zhalong Wetland based on a combined water quantity-quality model显示文摘The water purification function of natural wetland systems is widely recognized,but rarely studied or scientifically evaluated.Extensive studies have been carried out by various international wetland research communities to quantify the water quality improvement ability of the natural wetlands,in order to maintain such ability and wetland ecological health.This study aims to evaluate the purification function of Zhalong Wetland in China for removing total nitrogen(TN) and phosphorus(TP),based on ex-situ experiments and the development of a combined water quantity-quality model.Experiments and model predictions were carried out with different input TP and TN concentrations.Statistical analyses demonstrated that the relative errors between model simulations and experimental observations for TN and TP were 8.6% and 12.4%,respectively.With water retention time being maintained at 90 d,the removal rate of these pollutants could not reach the required Grade V standards,if the inflow TN concentration was over 42 mg L-1,or the input TP concentration was over 14 mg L-1.The simulation results also demonstrated that,even with Grade V quality standard compliance,when the water inflow from surrounding industries and agriculture lands into Zhalong Wetland reaches 0.3×10 8 m 3 a-1,the maximum TN and TP loads that the reserve can cope with are 1.26×10 3 t a-1 and 0.42×10 3 t a-1,respectively.Overall,this study has produced a significant amount of information that can be used for the protection of water quality and ecological health of Zhalong Wetland. | LI HongYan ZHANG GuangXin SUN GuangZhi | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,7: | 3 |
| 15 | Robust state-space realizations of digital filters against finite word length errors显示文摘This article deals with two important issues in digital filter implementation:roundoff noise and limit cycles. A novel class of robust state-space realizations, called normal realizations, is derived and characterized. It is seen that these realizations are free of limit cycles. Another interesting property of the normal realizations is that they yield a minimal error propagation gain. The optimal realization problem, defined as to find those normal realizations that minimize roundoff noise gain, is formulated and solved analytically. The SO_2 adsorption capacities and rates were evaluated by adsorption tests performed in a fixed bed reactor with a simulated flue gas, and the adsorption isotherm models were validated against the experimental results. The findings revealed that the SO_2 adsorption capacity decreased in the following order: MW-K_2Cr_2O_7-CAC > MWKMnO_4-CAC > MW-H_2O_2-CAC > MW-CAC. The SO_2 adsorption capacities and adsorption rates of the samples increased with an increasing oxidizability of the oxidants owing to the increment of mean pore size and oxygen-containing functional groups. In addition, a high initial SO_2 concentration and a low bed temperature could positively affect the SO2 adsorption. | 19 | Influence of Cr^(3+) Concentration on SO_2 Removal over TiO_2 Based Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes显示文摘In this study, titanium dioxide supported by multi-walled carbon nano tubes(MWCNTs/TiO_2) and Cr-doped TiO_2 supported by MWCNTs(MWNTs/Cr-TiO_2) were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The prepared samples were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, the BrunauerEmmett-Teller analysis, and the Raman spectroscopy. The oxidation and efficiency for removal of SO_2 in a simulated flue gas were investigated experimentally in a fixed-bed reactor. The 15% MWCNTs/Cr-Ti02 sample displayed excellent adsorption properties, and a SO_2 removal rate equating to 30.415 1 mg/g from the simulated flue gas containing 2 300 μg/g of SO_2, 8% of 02, and 5% of H20 was achieved under optimal conditions covering a temperature of 333.15 K, and a space velocity of 1 275 h^(-1). The adsorption process was enhanced because Cr doping modified the pore structure and inhibited the grain growth of TiO_2. In addition, the Freundlich and Langmuir models revealed that SO_2 was mainly adsorbed through chemical adsorption on the sample surfaces, and the thermodynamic model analysis indicated that the adsorption was a spontaneous, exothermic, and entropy-reducing process. The adsorption kinetics of SO_2 can be described by the pseudosecond-order kinetic and the Bangham dynamics models.
