Dynamic analysis of C/C composite finger seal显示文摘A seal device as an important component of aeroengines has decisive influence on performance, reliability, and working life of aeroengines. With the development of aeroengines, demands on the performance characteristics of seal devices are made strictly. Finger seal as a novel kind of sealing device, recently attracts more and more attentions in academic circles and engineering fields at home and abroad. Research on finger seals has been extensively developed, especially on leakage and wear performances under dynamic conditions. However, it is a pity that the work on finger seals has been limited with a single approach that is improving the performance by structural optimization; in addition, the technology of dynamic analysis on finger seals is weak. Aiming at the problems mentioned above, a distributed mass equivalent dynamic model of finger seals considering the coupling effect of overlaid laminates is established in the present paper, the dynamic performance of 2.5 dimension C/C composite finger seal is analyzed with the model, and then the effects of fiber bundle density and fiber bundle preparation direction on finger seal's dynamic performance are discussed, as well as compared with those of Co-based alloy finger seal. The current work is about dynamic analysis of finger seals and application of C/C composite in this paper may have much academic significance and many engineering values for improving research level of finger seal dynamics and exploring feasibility of C/C composite being used for finger seals.Chen Guoding Wang Li’na Yu Qiangpeng Su Hua 2014Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2014,27,3:8
Impact of lubricant traction coefficient on cage's dynamic characteristics in high-speed angular contact ball bearing显示文摘In this paper, the formulas of elasto-hydrodynamic traction coefficients of three Chinese aviation lubricating oils,4109,4106 and 4050,were obtained by a great number of elastohydrodynamic traction tests. The nonlinear dynamics differential equations of high-speed angular contact ball bearing were built on the basis of dynamic theory of rolling bearings and solved by Gear Stiff(GSTIFF) integer algorithm with variable step. The impact of lubricant traction coefficient on cage's dynamic characteristics in high-speed angular contact ball bearing was investigated, and Poincare map was used to analyze the impact of three types of aviation lubricating oils on the dynamic response of cage's mass center. And then, the period of dynamic response of cage's mass center and the slip ratio of cage were used to assess the stability of cage under various working conditions. The results of this paper provide the theoretical basis for the selection and application of aviation lubricating oil.Zhang Wenhu Deng Sier Chen Guoding Cui Yongcun 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,2:8
Thermoelastohydrodynamic analysis of misaligned bearings with texture on journal surface under high-speed and heavy-load conditions显示文摘Hydrodynamic journal bearings are used to support the planetary gears in the transmission system of a Geared Turbo Fan engine, and they operate under severe working conditions, such as misalignment, high speed, and heavy load. Surface texture is regarded as an effective approach to improve mechanical properties under severe working conditions. However, the effects of surface texture on misaligned journal bearings under severe conditions have not been well studied. Therefore, a thermoelastohydrodynamic(TEHD) lubricating model with a textured and misaligned journal is presented in this study. Solid deformation, heat transfer between oil and the bearing, and heat convection between air and the bearing are considered in the model. The effects of cavitation and viscosity-temperature are also taken into account. The impacts of surface texture parameters and the misalignment angle on lubricating properties are investigated in the model. Results indicate that the bearing lubricating performance is greatly improved by optimal surface texture considering journal misalignment. The maximum oil film pressure and load-carrying capacity of a journal bearing increase with journal misalignment. Meanwhile, the oil film temperature increases sharply while considering misalignment.Yu ZHANG Guoding CHEN Lin WANG 2019Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,5:7
Research into Configuration and Flow of Wall Oil Film in Bearing Chamber Based on Droplet Size Distribution显示文摘The lubrication design and heat transfer determination of bearing chambers in aeroengine require a sufficient understanding of the oil droplet-film interaction and physical characteristic in an oil/air two-phase flow state. The analyses of oil droplet movement, mass and momentum transfer during the impingement of droplet/wall,as well as wall oil film thickness and flow velocity are very important for the bearing chamber lubrication and heat transfer calculation. An integrated model in combination with droplet movement,droplet/wall impact and film flow analysis is put forward initially based on the consideration of droplet size distribution. The model makes a contribution to provide more practical and feasible technical approach, which is not only for the study of droplet-film interaction and physical behavior in bearing chambers with oil/air two-phase flow phenomena, but also useful for an insight into the essence of physical course through droplet movement and deposition, film formation and flow. The influences of chamber geometries and operating conditions on droplet deposition mass and momentum transfer, and wall film thickness and velocity distribution are discussed. The feasibility of the method by theoretical analysis is also verified by the existing experimental data. The current work is conducive to expose the physical behavior of wall oil film configuration and flow in bearing chamber, and also significant for bearing chamber lubrication and heat transfer study under oil/air two-phase flow conditions.CHEN Guoding SUN Hengchao WANG Jun 2011Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2011,24,3:7
Dynamic performance of a C/C composite finger seal in a tilting mode显示文摘The complex operating state of aeroengines has an impact on the performance of finger seals. However, little work has been focused on the issue and the dynamic performance of finger seals is also rarely studied. Therefore, a distributed mass equivalent model considering working conditions is proposed in this paper for solving the existing problems. The effects of the fiber bundle density and the preparation direction of the fiber bundle of a C/C composite on the dynamic performance of a finger seal are investigated in rotor tilt based on the proposed model. The difference between the C/C composite finger seal performances under the rotor precession and nutation tilt cases is also investigated. The results show that the fiber bundle density and the preparation direction of the fiber bundle have an influence on the dynamic performance of the finger seal as rotor tilt is considered, and the dynamic performance of the finger seal is different in the two kinds of tilting modes. In addition, a novel method for design of finger seals is presented based on the contact pressure between finger boots and the rotor. Finger seals with good leakage rates and low wear can be acquired in this method.Hailin ZHAO Guoding CHEN Li'na WANG Hua SU Fei LU 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,4:6
Dynamic Behavior Analysis of Finger Seal Based on Equivalent Dynamic Model显示文摘Finger seal is a new technology developed for gas path sealing in gas turbine engine. It has been paid attention to its good sealing performance and lower manufacture cost. The vibration behavior of finger seal is not be considered in performance analysis for the contact finger seal with compliant geometric configuration, then this will influence the reliability of the performance analysis and the parametric design of a finger seal.According to the dynamic character of finger seal, the harmonic vibration and free vibration models of a repetitive section of a two-layer finger seal that contains one high and one low finger seal are established separately. The dynamic behavior of finger seal in different working conditions is obtained based on the dynamic response analysis of finger's vibrations. The dynamic low hysteresis and low wear terms based on the equivalent dynamic model of finger seal are put forward, which can be used to predict the dynamic behavior of finger seal.As an example, the dynamic behaviors of an 8-layer finger seal and a 10-layer finger seal were predicted, and the validity of the prediction was demonstrated by the leakage test results of these two finger seals. The work presented here not only could make the dynamic analysis of finger seal with complicated structure simple and easy especially for multi-layer finger seal system, but also suggest a useful method for designing the finger seal with good dynamic behavior by means of different seal layers assembly.SU Hua CHEN Guoding 2010Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2010,23,5:4

Analysis of oil shedding and ligaments formation on bearing rotary elements显示文摘For designing efficient lubrication system of an aeroengine bearing chamber, sufficient knowledge on oil/air two-phase flow characteristics is required. When analyzing bearing chamber two-phase flow, the essential prerequisite is quantifying the oil ligaments, which are detached from bearing rotary elements and shed into the bearing chamber.Related investigations are mainly targeted at liquid shedding on the rotating disk as opposed to the bearing rotary elements. Moreover, the research based on bearing rotary elements is conducted by experiment.Due to the limited operating conditions, experimental studies cannot guide engineering applications. To overcome these limitations,a theoretical model is established in this paper, for revealing the mechanism of oil shedding from bearing rotary elements and quantifying the shedding ligaments. The theoretical model is validated against experimental results from classical studies. In addition, the correlation for shedding ligaments number based on aeroengine bearing structural and operational parameters is obtained via theoretical analysis. The analytical results demonstrate that oil shedding and ligaments formation appear at the edge of bearing inner race outer-periphery.The number of shedding ligaments increases with the rise of shaft rotational speed while decreases with the growth of oil viscosity.Donglei ZHU Guoding CHEN Yanjun LI Chaoyang ZHANG Lin WANG 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,2:0
A 3D CFD simulation of oil spray-collection and delivery process in an aeroengine inter-shaft bearing显示文摘Under-race lubrication applied to the inter-shaft bearing of aeroengine is characterized by spray oil collection and oil delivery to the bearing via flow-path structure. Droplet splashing induced by the collision between spray oil and the scoop as well as oil flowing characteristics in the flow-path influence bearing lubrication efficiency. In previous investigations, the spray oil collection and oil delivery analysis were separated, and the effect of droplet splashing on bearing lubrication efficiency was not considered. Moreover, time-varying characteristics of oil delivered to the bearing were not accounted for. This is caused by time variations of the circumferential position of rollers and under-race feed holes. To overcome these limitations, a numerical model which integrates the spray oil collection and oil delivery analysis is proposed in this paper. The model is embedded with the function of calculating the flow rate of splashing droplets and analyzing time-varying characteristics of the oil fed to the bearing. Furthermore, the numerical model is validated by experimental investigation. The proposed numerical model facilitates the accurate calculation of bearing lubrication efficiency as well as the design of an efficient lubrication structure.Donglei ZHU Guoding CHEN Yanjun LI Chaoyang ZHANG Lin WANG 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,9:0
