3Effects of phacoemulsification surgery on ocular hemodynamics显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the possible effects of phacoemulsification cataract surgery on ocular hemodynamics.·METHODS:In this prospective study,intraocular pressure(IOP),pulsatile ocular blood flow(POBF),and ocular pulse amplitude(OPA) were measured pre-operatively(baseline) and at 1 week and 3 weeks postoperation in 52 eyes of 26 patients(mean age 63.15±10.25 years) scheduled for unilateral phacoemulsification cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation.In all of the eyes,a blood flow analyzer(Paradigm DICON;Paradigm Medical Industries Inc.;USA) was used to obtain measurements of IOP,POBF,and OPA.The data obtained from operated eyes were compared statistically to untreated fellow phakic eyes of the patients.·RESULTS:For operated eyes,the mean baseline IOP,POBF,and OPA values were 15.9±4.64mmHg,17.41±4.84μL/s,and 2.91 ±1.12mmHg,respectively.The IOP,POBF,and OPA values were 17.19 ±4.34mmHg,17.56 ±6.46μL/s,and3.12 ±1.1mmHg,respectively,in the nonoperated control eyes.Statistically significant differences from baseline measurements were not observed 1 week and 3 weeks postoperation for the operated or nonoperated eyes.There were also no statistically significant differences in any measurements between the operated and nonoperated eyes in all the examination periods(P >0.05for all).·CONCLUSION:Uncomplicated phacoemulsification surgery does not affect ocular hemodynamics in normotensive eyes with cataracts.Adem Turk Suleyman Mollamehmetoglu Halil Ibrahim Imamoglu Mehmet Kola Hidayet Erdol Nurettin Akyol 2013International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,4:1

12A Novel Color Image Watermarking Method with Adaptive Scaling Factor Using Similarity-Based Edge Region显示文摘This study aimed to deal with three challenges:robustness,imperceptibility,and capacity in the image watermarking field.To reach a high capacity,a novel similarity-based edge detection algorithm was developed that finds more edge points than traditional techniques.The colored watermark image was created by inserting a randomly generated message on the edge points detected by this algorithm.To ensure robustness and imperceptibility,watermark and cover images were combined in the high-frequency subbands using Discrete Wavelet Transform and Singular Value Decomposition.In the watermarking stage,the watermark image was weighted by the adaptive scaling factor calculated by the standard deviation of the similarity image.According to the results,the proposed edge-based color image watermarking technique has achieved high payload capacity,imperceptibility,and robustness to all attacks.In addition,the highest performance values were obtained against rotation attack,to which sufficient robustness has not been reached in the related studies.Kali Gurkahraman Rukiye Karakis Hidayet Takci 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,47,10:0
13A novel terminologic “naming-meshing” system using anterior chamber sedimentation for early diagnosis and prompt treatment of ocular or systemic diseases: is it hypopyon or pseudohypopyon?显示文摘A novel,algorithmic“naming-meshing”system was introduced for the distinction of hypopyon from pseudohypopyon to make an early diagnosis and prompt treatment of anterior chamber collection standardized to encompass all sediment characteristics.For this reason,a literature review of“hypopyon”and“pseudohypopyon”was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed,Scopus,and Web of Science from 1966 to May 15,2023.Two issues were clarified:1)which strategies should the ophthalmologist follow when asked to evaluate an eye with anterior chamber sedimentation to distinguish hypopyon from pseudohypopyon,and 2)in which systemic disorders should a non-ophthalmologist order a prompt ophthalmic consultation to distinguish pseudohypopyon from hypopyon.Pathognomonic characteristics of the sediment were examined;scleral show(warm/cold),location(corneal/anterior chamber/capsular/posterior),visibility(macro/micro/occult-angle),orientation(horizontal/vertical/oblique),number(single/double),shape(convex/triangular/pyramidal/ring/lumpy/inverse),and color(white/yellow/pink/brown/black).Associated findings were then assessed;acute/chronic,spontaneous/provoked,unilateral/bilateral,inflammatory/non-inflammatory,suppurative(nonsterile)/non-suppurative(sterile),granulomatous/nongranulomatous,recurrent/non-recurrent,shifting/nonshifting,and transient/persistent.The type of precipitation was named(naming)and matched(meshing)to a potential list of etiologies(inflammatory,infective,therapeutic,masquerades).Given that(pseudo)hypopyon predominantly afflicts younger patients in their most productive years,clinicians supervising such patients should be aware of all sediment characteristics.The ophthalmologist should never ask non-ophthalmologists to run the full battery of tests in a patient with(pseudo)hypopyon,and rather indicate which type of collection is present,what its pathognomonic feature is,and what the most likely diagnoses to be excluded are.Cem Evereklioglu Hidayet Sener Hatice Kubra Sonmez Osman Ahmet Polat Duygu Gulmez Sevim Hatice Arda Fatih Horozoglu 2023International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2023,16,8:0

15Automated evaluation of parapapillary choroidal microvasculature in crowded optic discs:a controlled,optical coherence tomography angiography study显示文摘AIM:To compare superficial and deep vascular properties of optic discs between crowded discs and controls using optical coherence tomography angiography(OCT-A).METHODS:Thirty patients with crowded discs,and 47 control subjects were enrolled in the study.One eye of each individual was included and OCT-A scans of optic discs were obtained in a 4.5×4.5 mm^(2) rectangular area.Radial peripapillary capillary(RPC)density,peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(pRNFL)thickness,cup volume,rim area,disc area,cup-to-disc(c/d)area ratio,and vertical c/d ratio were obtained automatically using device software.Automated parapapillary choroidal microvasculature(PPCMv)density was calculated using MATLAB software.When the vertical c/d ratio of the optic disc was absent or small cup,it was considered as a crowded disc.RESULTS:The mean signal strength index of OCT-A images was similar between the crowded discs and control eyes(P=0.740).There was no difference in pRNFL between the two groups(P=0.102).There were no differences in RPC density in whole image(P=0.826)and peripapillary region(P=0.923),but inside disc RPC density was higher in crowded optic discs(P=0.003).The PPCMv density in the inner-hemisuperior region was also lower in crowded discs(P=0.026).The pRNFL thickness was positively correlated with peripapillary RPC density(r=0.498,P<0.001).The inside disc RPC density was negatively correlated with c/d area ratio(r=-0.341,P=0.002).CONCLUSION:The higher inside disc RPC density and lower inner-hemisuperior PPCMv density are found in eyes with crowded optic discs.Hatice Arda Hidayet Sener Ozge Temizyurek Hatice Kubra Sonmez Duygu Gulmez Sevim Cem Evereklioglu Fatih Horozoglu Ayse Busra Gunay Sener 2024International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2024,17,1:0
16Epilepsy Radiology Reports Classification Using Deep Learning Networks显示文摘The automatic and accurate classification of Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)radiology report is essential for the analysis and interpretation epilepsy and non-epilepsy.Since the majority of MRI radiology reports are unstructured,the manual information extraction is time-consuming and requires specific expertise.In this paper,a comprehensive method is proposed to classify epilepsy and non-epilepsy real brain MRI radiology text reports automatically.This method combines the Natural Language Processing technique and statisticalMachine Learning methods.122 realMRI radiology text reports(97 epilepsy,25 non-epilepsy)are studied by our proposed method which consists of the following steps:(i)for a given text report our systems first cleans HTML/XML tags,tokenize,erase punctuation,normalize text,(ii)then it converts into MRI text reports numeric sequences by using indexbased word encoding,(iii)then we applied the deep learning models that are uni-directional long short-term memory(LSTM)network,bidirectional long short-term memory(BiLSTM)network and convolutional neural network(CNN)for the classifying comparison of the data,(iv)finally,we used 70%of used for training,15%for validation,and 15%for test observations.Unlike previous methods,this study encompasses the following objectives:(a)to extract significant text features from radiologic reports of epilepsy disease;(b)to ensure successful classifying accuracy performance to enhance epilepsy data attributes.Therefore,our study is a comprehensive comparative study with the epilepsy dataset obtained from numeric sequences by using index-based word encoding method applied for the deep learning models.The traditionalmethod is numeric sequences by using index-based word encoding which has been made for the first time in the literature,is successful feature descriptor in the epilepsy data set.The BiLSTM network has shown a promising performance regarding the accuracy rates.We show that the larger sizedmedical text reports can be analyzed by our proposed method.Sengul Bayrak Eylem Yucel Hidayet Takci 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2:0
17Classification of Epileptic Electroencephalograms Using Time-Frequency and Back Propagation Methods显示文摘Today,electroencephalography is used to measure brain activity by creating signals that are viewed on a monitor.These signals are frequently used to obtain information about brain neurons and may detect disorders that affect the brain,such as epilepsy.Electroencephalogram(EEG)signals are however prone to artefacts.These artefacts must be removed to obtain accurate and meaningful signals.Currently,computer-aided systems have been used for this purpose.These systems provide high computing power,problem-specific development,and other advantages.In this study,a new clinical decision support system was developed for individuals to detect epileptic seizures using EEG signals.Comprehensive classification results were obtained for the extracted filtered features from the time-frequency domain.The classification accuracies of the time-frequency features obtained from discrete continuous transform(DCT),fractional Fourier transform(FrFT),and Hilbert transform(HT)are compared.Artificial neural networks(ANN)were applied,and back propagation(BP)was used as a learning method.Many studies in the literature describe a single BP algorithm.In contrast,we looked at several BP algorithms including gradient descent with momentum(GDM),scaled conjugate gradient(SCG),and gradient descent with adaptive learning rate(GDA).The most successful algorithm was tested using simulations made on three separate datasets(DCT_EEG,FrFT_EEG,and HT_EEG)that make up the input data.The HT algorithm was the most successful EEG feature extractor in terms of classification accuracy rates in each EEG dataset and had the highest referred accuracy rates of the algorithms.As a result,HT_EEG gives the highest accuracy for all algorithms,and the highest accuracy of 87.38%was produced by the SCG algorithm.Sengul Bayrak Eylem Yucel Hidayet Takci Ruya Samli 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,11:0
