1Why do we have so much trouble treating anal fistula?显示文摘Anal fistula is among the most common illnesses affecting man.Medical literature dating back to 400 BC has discussed this problem.Various causative factors have been proposed throughout the centuries,but it appears that the majority of fistulas unrelated to specific causes (e.g.Tuberculosis,Crohn’s disease) result from infection (abscess) in anal glands extending from the intersphincteric plane to various anorectal spaces.The tubular structure of an anal fistula easily yields itself to division or unroofing (fistulotomy) or excision (fistulectomy) in most cases.The problem with this single,yet effective,treatment plan is that depending on the thickness of sphincter muscle the fistula transgresses,the patient will have varying degrees of fecal incontinence from minor to total.In an attempt to preserve continence,various procedures have been proposed to deal with the fistulas.These include: (1) simple drainage (Seton);(2) closure of fistula tract using fibrin sealant or anal fistula plug;(3) closure of primary opening using endorectal or dermal flaps,and more recently;and (4) ligation of intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT).In most complex cases (i.e.Crohn’s disease),a proximal fecal diversion offers a measure of symptom-atic relief.The fact remains that an 'ideal' procedure for anal fistula remains elusive.The failure of each sphincter-preserving procedure (30%-50% recurrence) often results in multiple operations.In essence,the price of preservation of continence at all cost is multiple and often different operations,prolonged disability and disappointment for the patient and the surgeon.Nevertheless,the surgeon treating anal fistulas on an occasional basis should never hesitate in referring the patient to a specialist.Conversely,an expert colorectal surgeon must be familiar with many different operations in order to selectively tailor an operation to the individual patient.Haig Dudukgian Herand Abcarian 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,28:18
2Joint User Scheduling and Antenna Selection in Distributed Massive MIMO Systems with Limited Backhaul Capacity显示文摘Massive MIMO systems offer a high spatial resolution that can drastically increase the spectral and/or energy efficiency by employing a large number of antennas at the base station(BS).In a distributed massive MIMO system,the capacity of fiber backhaul that links base station and remote radio heads is usually limited,which becomes a bottleneck for realizing the potential performance gain of both downlink and uplink.To solve this problem,we propose a joint antenna selection and user scheduling which is able to achieve a large portion of the potential gain provided by the massive MIMO array with only limited backhaul capacity.Three sub-optimal iterative algorithms with the objective of sumrate maximization are proposed for the joint optimization of antenna selection and user scheduling,either based on greedy fashion or Frobenius-norm criteria.Convergence and complexity analysis are presented for the algorithms.The provided Monte Carlo simulations show that,one of our algorithms achieves a good tradeoff between complexity and performance and thus is especially fit for massive MIMO systems.XU Guozhen LIU An JIANG Wei XIANG Haige LUO Wu 2014China Communications2014,11,5:9
3Construction of LDPC Codes for the Layered Decoding Algorithm显示文摘The layered decoding algorithm has been widely used in the implementation of Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoders, due to its high convergence speed. However, the pipeline operation of the layered decoder may introduce memory access conflicts, which heavily deteriorates the decoder throughput. To essentially deal with the issue of memory access conflicts, we propose a construction algorithm of LDPC codes, to which a constraint condition is added in the Progressive Edge-Growth (PEG) algorithm. The constraint condition can guarantee that for our constructed LDPC codes, the sets of all the variable nodes connected to the consecutive layers do not share any common variable node, which can avoid the memory access conflicts. Simulation results show that the performance of our constructed LDPC codes is close to the several other LDPC codes adopted in wireless standards. Moreover, compared with the decoder for IEEE 802. 16e LDPC codes, the throughput of our LDPC decoder has large improvement, while the chip resource consumption is unchanged. 4Energy-Efficient Beamforming for Two-Tier Massive MIMO Downlink显示文摘Heterogeneous networks(HetNets)consisting of macro cells with very large antenna arrays and a secondary tier of small cells with a few antennas each can well tackle the contradiction of large coverage of the network and high data rate at the hot spots.However,it is not permissible to assign orthogonal pilot sequences for all the supported users due to the large number.Hence,we propose a pilot reduction scheme based on the heterogeneous system configurations and the unique topology of this HetNet.The reusing of pilot sequences causes the presence of the contaminated channel state information(CSI) and results in receivers' Quality of Service(QoS) outage.With the contaminated CSI,we provide an energy-efficient beamforming based on minimizing the total power consumption while keeping the QoS constraints satisfied and restricting the QoS outage probability below a given specification.By applying the approach of Bernstein approximation and semi-definite relaxation,we transform the original intractable chance constrained program to a convex problem conservatively.Numerical results show that the average power consumption of the proposed beamforming for our pilot reduction scheme is close to that of the perfect CSI case.Since our scheme will greatly compress the length of pilot sequence especially for those highly densified network with large number of small cells,it will be crucially helpful to put such two-tier massive multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO) systems into practice.XU Guozhen LIU An JIANG Wei XIANG Haige LUO Wu 2015China Communications2015,12,10:3

6Relationships of surface oxygen vacancies with photoluminescence and photocatalytic performance of ZnO nanoparticles显示文摘The ZnO nanoparticles are prepared by a precipitation process, and also are char- acterized by means of the modern testing techniques such as XPS, ESR, SPS and PL. The ac- tivity of the as-prepared ZnO is evaluated in the photocatalytic oxidation of gas phase n-C7H16. The relationships of surface oxygen vacancies (SOV) with photoluminescence (PL) and photo- catalytic performance are discussed in details. The results show that the smaller the particle size, the larger the SOV content, the stronger the PL signal, the higher the photocatalytic activity, in- dicating that the SOV, PL and photocatalytic activity have inherent relationships. This was be- cause of the reasons that the PL signal is attributed to the free and binding excitons resulting from the SOV, while the SOV is favorable for a photocatalytic oxidation reaction since the SOV can easily capture the photoinduced electrons, and the captured electrons had strong interac- tions with the adsorbed oxygen. 7The Practice of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in subSaharan Africa and Antarctica:A White Paper or a Black Mark?显示文摘Objective:To explore the practice of PM&R in subSaharan Africa and Antarctica.Method:Medline searches,membership data searches,fax survey of medical schools,Internet searches,and interviews with experts.Result:The continents are dissimilar in terms of climate and government.However both Antarctica and subSaharan Africa have no PM&R training programs,no professional organizations,no specialty board requirements,and no practicing physicians in the field.Since there is no known disabled child on Antarctica and adults are airlifted to world-class health care,the consequences of this deficit are minimal there.However the 788,000,000 permanent residents of subSaharan Africa including approximately 78 million persons with disability are left unserved.Conclusion:Antarctica is doing fine.Africa is in a crisis.Local medical schools,hospitals doctors,and persons with disability;along with foreign volunteers,aid groups,and policymakers can impact the crisis.However government-specifically national ministries of health-is ultimately responsible for the health and wellbeing of citizens.Andrew J. 9Comprehensive analysis of changes to catchment slope properties in the high-sediment region of the Loess Plateau, 1978-2010显示文摘To control soil erosion and restore the degraded environment in the Loess Plateau, a large number of measures related to soil and water conservation have been employed that have profoundly affected catchment properties. This study constructed three indicators to characterize changes to the catchment slope, proposed both a method for a regression analysis of adjacent images and a sequence model, and applied multisource remotely sensed images and GIS spatial clustering analysis technologies to extract thematic information and comprehensively analyze the catchment change characteristics. The results indicate that the catchment slope properties changed significantly. At catchment scale, the average values of ARC, DVC and ART were 6.43%, 25.57% and 4.30%, respectively. There were six clustering types of catchment slope property changes. The maximum and minimum of the average similarities of the clustering types were 0.992 and 0.935. Each slope control measures had a distinct effect on catchment slope; the dominating factor of each clustering type was identified as: Type 1: D-VC, Type 2: D-VCLU, Type 3: D-LUVC, Type 4: D-TAVC, Type 5: D-TAC and Type 6: D-MFC. Type 5 and Type 1 covered the largest areas, respectively occupying 37.28% and 31.01%. Catchment slope property changes also had distinct types that depended on their geomorphological conditions. 10Multiuser detection algorithm based on belief propagation in multiple-input multiple-output systems显示文摘In MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) systems, signals from different transmitting antennas interfere at each receiving antenna and multiuser detection (MUD) algorithms may be adopted to improve the system performance. This paper proposes a novel multiuser detection algorithm in MIMO systems based on the idea of 'belief propagation' which has achieved great accomplishment in decoding of low-density parity-check codes. The proposed algorithm has a low computation complexity proportional to the square of transmitting/receiving antenna number. Simulation results show that under low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) circumstances, the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector while it encounters a 'floor' of bit error rate under high SNR circumstances. So the proposed algorithm is applicable to MIMO systems with channel coding and decoding.
