Seasonal dynamics of water bloom-forming Microcystis morphospecies and the associated extracellular microcystin concentrations in large, shallow, eutrophic Dianchi Lake显示文摘The increasing occurrence of Microcystis blooms is of great concern to public health and ecosystem due to the potential hepatotoxic microcystins(MCs)produced by these colonial cyanobacteria. In order to interpret the relationships between variations of Microcystis morphospecies and extracellular MC concentrations, the seasonal dynamics of phytoplankton community composition,MC concentrations, and environmental parameters were monitored monthly from August,2009 to July,2010.The results indicated that Microcystis dominated total phytoplankton abundance from May to December(96%–99%of total biovolume),with toxic Microcystis viridis and non-toxic Microcystis wesenbergii dominating after July(constituting 65%–95%of the Microcystis population),followed by M.viridis as the sole dominant species from November to January(49%–93%).Correlation analysis revealed that water temperature and nutrient were the most important variables accounting for the occurrence of M.wesenbergii, while the dominance of M.viridis was related with nitrite and nitrate. The relatively low content of MCs was explained by the association with a large proportion of M.viridis and M.wesenbergii, small colony size of Microcystis populations, and low water temperature,pH and dissolved oxygen. The extracellular MC(mean of 0.5±0.2μg/L)of water samples analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)demonstrated the low concentrations of MC in Dianchi Lake which implied the low potential risk for human health in the basin. The survey provides the first whole lake study of the occurrence and seasonal variability of Microcystis population and extracellular MCs that are of particular interest for water quality monitoring and management. | Yanlong Wu Lin Li Nanqin Gan Lingling Zheng Haiyan Ma Kun Shan Jin Liu Bangding Xiao Lirong Song | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,9: | 12
Injectable bioactive polymethyl methacrylate-hydrogel hybrid bone cement loaded with BMP-2 to improve osteogenesis for percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty显示文摘Poly methyl methacrylate(PMMA)bone cement is used in augmenting and stabilizing fractured vertebral bodies through percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP)and percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP).However, applications of PMMA bone cement are limited by the high elasticity modulus of PMMA,its low biodegradability, and its limited ability to regenerate bone.To improve PMMA bio activity and biodegradability and to modify its elasticity modulus,we mixed PMMA bone cement with oxidized hyaluronic acid and carboxymethyl chitosan in situ cross-linking hydrogel loaded with bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)to achieve novel hybrid cement. These fabric ated PMMA-hydrogel hybrid cements exhibited lower setting temperatures,a lower elasticity modulus, and better biodegradability and biocompatibility than that of pure PMMA cement, while retaining acceptable setting times, mechanical strength, and inj ectability. In addition,we detected release of BMP-2 from the PMMA-hydrogel hybrid cements, significantly enhancing in vitro osteogenesis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells by up-regulating the gene expression of Runx2,Coll,and OPN.Use of PMMA-hydrogel hybrid cements loaded with BMP-2 on rabbit femoral condyle bone-defect models revealed their biodegradability and enhanced bone formation. Our study demonstrated the favorable mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and biodegradability of fabricated PMMA-hydrogel hybrid cements loaded with BMP-2,as well as their ability to improve osteogenesis, making them a promising material for use in PKP and PVP. | Xin Sun Xin Zhang Xin Jiao Jie Ma Xingzhen Liu Han Yang Kangping Shen Yaokai Gan Jinwu Wang Haiyan Li Wenjie Jin | 2022 | Bio-Design and Manufacturing2022,5,2: | 3
Tree ring based drought variability in Northwest Tajikistan since 1895 AD显示文摘Determining the mechanisms controlling the changes of wet and dry conditions will improve our understanding of climate change over the past hundred years, which is of great significance to the study of climate and environmental changes in the arid regions of Central Asia.Forest trees are ecologically significant in the local environment, and therefore the tree ring analysis can provide a clear record of regional historical climate. This study analyzed the correlation between the tree ring width chronology of Juniperus turkestanica Komarov and the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index(SPEI)in Northwest Tajikistan, based on 56 tree ring samples collected from Shahristan in the Pamir region.Climate data including precipitation, temperature and the SPEI were downloaded from the Climate Research Unit(CRU)TS 4.00.The COFECHA program was used for cross-dating,and the ARSTAN program was used to remove the growth trend of the tree itself and the influence of non-climatic factors on the growth of the trees.A significant correlation was found between the radial growth of J.turkestanica trees and the monthly mean SPEI of February–April. The monthly mean SPEI sequence of February–April during the period of 1895–2016 was reconstructed, and the reconstruction equation explained 42.5%of the variance.During the past 122 a(1895–2016),the study area has experienced three wetter periods(precipitation above average):1901–1919,1945–1983 and 1995–2010,and four drier periods(precipitation below average):1895–1900,1920–1944,1984–1994 and 2011–2016.The spatial correlation analysis revealed that the monthly mean SPEI reconstruction sequence of February–April could be used to characterize the large-scale dry-wet variations in Northwest Tajikistan during the period of 1895–2016.This study could provide comparative data for validating the projections of climate models and scientific basis for managing water resources in Tajikistan in the context of climate change. | YANG Meilin YU Yang ZHANG Haiyan WANG Qian GAN Miao YU Ruide | 2020 | Journal of Arid Land2020,12,3: | 2
Interface engineering of plasmonic induced Fe/N/C-F catalyst with enhanced oxygen catalysis performance for fuel cells application显示文摘The low intrinsic activity of Fe/N/C oxygen catalysts restricts their commercial application in the fuel cells technique;herein,we demonstrated the interface engineering of plasmonic induced Fe/N/C-F catalyst with primarily enhanced oxygen reduction performance for fuel cells applications. The strong interaction between F and Fe-N4 active sites modifies the catalyst interfacial properties as revealed by X-ray absorption structure spectrum and density functional theory calculations, which changes the electronic structure of Fe-N active site resulting from more atoms around the active site participating in the reaction as well as super-hydrophobicity from C–F covalent bond. The hybrid contribution from active sites and carbon support is proposed to optimize the three-phase microenvironment efficiently in the catalysis electrode, thereby facilitating efficient oxygen reduction performance.High catalytic performance for oxygen reduction and fuel cells practical application catalyzed by Fe/N/C-F catalyst is thus verified, which offers a novel catalyst system for fuel cells technique. | Xue Yin Ligang Feng Wen Yang Yuanxi Zhang Haiyan Wu Le Yang Lei Zhou Lin Gan Shaorui Sun | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,3: | 1
Effects of Bag Type on Fruit Quality of Red Massh Grapefruit显示文摘[Objectives]The effects of bag types on the appearance and internal quality of red Massh grapefruit were studied.[Methods]Outer-yellow inner-black double-layer pomelo special paper bags, white single-layer paper bags, yellow plastic film bags, and red plastic film bags were used to cover the fruit of red Massh grapefruit. With the fruit free of bagging as a control, the effects of fruit bags with different materials were compared.[Results]The four kinds of fruit bag treatments effectively reduced pests and diseases, and increased the good fruit rate, and the effects of paper bag treatments were better than those of film bags. The outer-yellow inner-black double-layer pomelo special paper bags had good air permeability and were easy to operate. The bagged fruit had a smooth and beautiful surface and showed a unique uniform pink color after removing the bags. The fruit had moderate sour and sweet flavor and good overall benefits. It is worthy of popularization and application.[Conclusions]Fruit bagging has good economic benefits, and it is recommended to use the outer-yellow inner-black double-layer pomelo special paper bags. | Jie YANG Haiyan GAN Bo WANG Changpeng YANG Liming XU Xiaolong ZHAO | 2021 | Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,3: | 1

Identifying the spatio-temporal variability of human activity intensity and associated drivers: a case study on the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Human activities have significantly degraded ecosystems and their associated services.By understanding the spatio-temporal variability and drivers of human activity intensity(HAI),we can better evaluate the interactions between human and terrestrial ecosystems, which is essential for land-use related decision making and eco-environmental construction. As the“third pole,”the Tibetan Plateau(TP)plays a strong role in shaping the global environment, and acts as an important ecological security barrier for China.Based on land-use/cover change data, environmental geographic data, and socioeconomic data,we adopted a method for converting different land use/cover types into construction land equivalent to calculate the HAI value and applied the Getis-Ord Gi*statistic to analyze the spatio-temporal dynamics associated with HAI since 1980 on the TP.Thereafter,we explored the forces driving the HAI changes using GeoDetector software and a correlation analysis. The main conclusions are as follows:It was observed that HAI increased slowly from 3.52%to 3.65%during the 1980-2020 period, with notable increases in the western part of the Qaidam Basin and Hehuang Valley.Spatially,HAI was associated with a significant agglomeration effect, which was mainly concentrated in the regions of the Yarlung Zangbo and Yellow-Huangshui rivers. Both natural and anthropogenic factors were identified as important driving forces behind the spatial changes in HAI,of which soil type, gross domestic product, and population density had the greatest influence.Meanwhile, the temporal changes in HAI were largely driven by economic development. This information provides crucial guidance for territory development planning and ecological-protection policy decisions. | Cai LIU Haiyan ZHANG Fuping GAN Yunge LU Hao WANG Jiahong ZHANG Xing JU | 2022 | Frontiers of Earth Science2022,16,3: | 0
The FAST Core Array显示文摘The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope(FAST)Core Array is a proposed extension of FAST,integrating 24 secondary 40-m antennas implanted within 5 km of the FAST site. This original array design will combine the unprecedented sensitivity of FAST with a high angular resolution(4.3'at a frequency of 1.4 GHz),thereby exceeding the capabilities at similar frequencies of next-generation arrays such as the Square Kilometre Array Phase 1 or the next-generation Very Large Array. This article presents the technical specifications of the FAST Core Array, evaluates its potential relatively to existing radio telescope arrays, and describes its expected scientific prospects. The proposed array will be equipped with technologically advanced backend devices, such as real-time signal processing systems.A phased array feed receiver will be mounted on FAST to improve the survey efficiency of the FAST Core Array, whose broad frequency coverage and large field of view(FOV)will be essential to study transient cosmic phenomena such as fast radio bursts and gravitational wave events,to conduct surveys and resolve structures in neutral hydrogen galaxies,to monitor or detect pulsars, and to investigate exoplanetary systems. Finally, the FAST Core Array can strengthen China's major role in the global radio astronomy community, owing to a wide range of potential scientific applications from cosmology to exoplanet science. | Peng Jiang Rurong Chen Hengqian Gan Jinghai Sun Boqin Zhu Hui Li Weiwei Zhu Jingwen Wu Xuelei Chen Haiyan Zhang Tao An | 2024 | Astronomical Techniques and Instruments2024,1,2: | 0
Discussion on the Countermeasures of Rocky Desertification Control in Western China: Based on Current Situation of Rocky Desertification Control in Guangxi显示文摘First, current situation of rocky desertification control in Guangxi was surveyed via the methods of literature review, field investigation and informal discussion. The results displayed that new progress has been made in the study of control techniques and models for rocky desertification in Guangxi, and typical control models of ' mountain-water-field-forest-road comprehensive control', ' ecological agriculture planting-agricultural tourism', ' three-in-one' appeared. Then, systematic analysis on the situation of rocky desertification control in Guangxi was conducted. Some problems are found: at present, the prevention and control mechanism of rocky desertification in Guangxi is not perfect, and there is no joint force among departments;there is low capital input and single source channel;the contradiction between survival and ecology is prominent, and the enthusiasm of the masses to participate is not high;there is imperfect supporting policy mechanism, and economic development and ecological protection are unbalanced. For these problems, relevant suggestions and safeguard measures are proposed from comprehensive management, governance planning, technical support and policy support. The research aims to provide theoretical foundation and scientific basis for future rocky desertification control in Guangxi. | Haiyan GAN | 2020 | Meteorological and Environmental Research2020,11,2: | 0
