1Outcomes of men aged≤50 years treated with radical prostatectomy:a retrospective analysis显示文摘Previous studies inv estigating prostate can cer(PCa)features in youn ger men have reported con flicting fin dings.This study aimed to investigate pathologic outcomes and biochemical recurrenee(BCR)status in younger men who underwent radical prostatectomy(RP)for PCa.Records of 2057 patients who underwent RP at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital(Seongnam,Korea)between 2006 and 2015 were reviewed;patients were divided according to age into the younger and older groups(men aged<50 and>50 years,respectively).Postoperative BCR status and functional outcomes and clinicopathologic features were compared betwee n both groups.All an alyses were repeated after propensity score matchi ng.Younger men were more likely to have lowrisk disease(P<0.001),lower pathologic Gleason score(P<0.001)and pathologic stages(P<0.001)than older men.The pathologic Gleason score(P=0.002)and rates of extracapsular extension(P=0.004)were lower in younger men after propensity score matching.In multivariate analysis,age at RP was not an independent predictor of BCR-free survival after RP(P=0.669).Moreover,at 1 year after RP,younger men with preoperative 5?item International Index of Erectile Function score≥22(n=228)showed more favorable results for urinary con tine nee(defi ned as nonuse of pads daily)(99.4%vs 95%,P=0.009)and erections sufficie nt for vaginal in tercourse(81.8%vs 55.5%,P=0.001).Youn ger men had more favorable clinicopathologic features at RP than their older counterparts.Although age was not an independent predictor of BCR status outcome,younger men had better functional outcomes following RP.Byeongdo Song Hakmin Lee Min Seung Lee Sung Kyu Hong 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,2:0
2Estimation of plasma parameters of X-pinch with time-resolved x-ray spectroscopy显示文摘We estimate the parameters of a Cu plasma generated by an X-pinch by comparing experimentally measured x-rays with synthetic data.A filtered absolute extreme ultraviolet diode array is used to measure time-resolved x-ray spectra with a spectral resolution of∼1 keV in the energy range of 1–10 keV.The synthetic spectra of Cu plasmas with different electron temperatures,electron densities,and fast electron fractions are calculated using the FLYCHK code.For quantitative comparison with the measured spectrum,two x-ray power ratios with three different spectral ranges are calculated.We observe three x-ray bursts in X-pinch experiments with two Cu wires conducted on the SNU X-pinch at a current rise rate of∼0.2 kA/ns.Analysis of the spectra reveals that the first burst comprises x-rays emitted by hot spots and electron beams,with characteristics similar to those observed in other X-pinches.The second and third bursts are both generated by longlived electron beams formed after the neck structure has been completely depleted.In the second burst,the formation of the electron beam is accompanied by an increase in the electron density of the background plasma.Therefore,the long-lived electron beams generate the additional strong x-ray bursts while maintaining a plasma channel in the central region of the X-pinch.Moreover,they emit many hard x-rays(HXRs),enabling the SNU X-pinch to be used as an HXR source.This study confirms that the generation of long-lived electron beams is crucial to the dynamics of X-pinches and the generation of strong HXRs.Seunggi Ham Jonghyeon Ryu Hakmin Lee Sungbin Park Y.-C.Ghim Y.S.Hwang Kyoung-Jae Chung 2023Matter and Radiation at Extremes2023,8,3:0
