| 1 | Effect of Commiphora mukul gum resin on hepatic marker enzymes,lipid peroxidation and antioxidants status in pancreas and heart of streptozotocin induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To study the antioxidant efficacy of Commiphora mukul(C.mukul) gum resin ethanolic extract in streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetic rats.Methods:The male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups of eight animals each:Control group(C),CM-treated control group(C_+CMEE),Diabetic control group(D),CM- treated diabetic group(D_+CMEE).Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ(55 mg/kg/ bwt).After being confirmed the diabetic rats were treated with C.mukul gum resin ethanolic extract(CMEE) for 60 days.The biochemical estimations like antioxidant,oxidative stress marker enzymes and hepatic marker enzymes of tissues were performed.Results:The diabetic rats showed increased level of enzymatic activities aspartate aminotransaminase(AST),alanine aminotransaminase(ALT) in liver and kidney and oxidative markers like lipid peroxidation(LPO) and protein oxidation(PO) in pancreas and heart. Antioxidant enzyme activities were significantly decreased in the pancreas and heart compared to control group.Administration of CMEE(200 mg/kg bw) to diabetic rats for 60 days significantly reversed the above parameters towards normalcy.Conclusions:In conclusion,our data indicate the preventive role of C.mukul against STZ-induced diabetic oxidative stress;hence this plant could be used as an adjuvant therapy for the prevention and/or management of diabetes and aggravated antioxidant status. | Ramesh B Karuna R Sreenivasa Reddy S Haritha K Sai Mangala D Sasi Bhusana Rao B Saralakumari D | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012，2，11： | 3 |

| 8 | Incidental finding of esophageal pneumatosis显示文摘Pneumatosis of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare condition characterized by the presence of air filled cavities in the gastrointestinal tract wall.Its occurrence has been described throughout the gastrointestinal tract from the esophagus to the rectum,however it is most commonly reported in the small intestine.Despite multiple case reports in literature,its pathogenesis still remains unclear.Pneumatosis may be idiopathic or associated with a variety of disorders namely peptic ulcer disease,jejunoileal bypass,intestinal obstruction and non-gastrointestinal disorders like asthma,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,systemic lupus erythematosus,infectious enteritis,etc.We here present a rare case of pneumatosis of the esophagus diagnosed incidentally at an esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD).A 78-year-old asymptomatic woman underwent EGD and colonoscopy at our hospital for evaluation of anemia.Few months prior to EGD,she had undergone excision of laryngocele at our hospital.EGD revealed extensive submucosal blebs distributed throughout the esophagus,otherwise unremarkable stomach and duodenum.Colonoscopy showed a tubular adenomatous polyp.Since our patient was asymptomatic she did not require any surgical intervention.Management of pneumatosis depends on the underlying cause. | Haritha Chelimilla Jasbir S Makker Anil Dev | 2013 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2013，5，2： | 0 |
