1The relationship between ischemic stroke and weather conditions in Duzce, Turkey显示文摘BACKGROUND: Weather conditions are thought to increase the risk of stroke occurrence. But their mechanism has not yet been clarified. We investigated possible relationships between ischemic stroke and weather conditions including atmospheric pressure, temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed.METHODS: One hundred and twenty-eight patients with ischemic stroke who had been admitted to our hospital between January 1 and December 31, 2010 were enrolled in this study. We investigated the relationship between daily cases and weather conditions the same day or 1, 2, and 3 days before stroke.RESULTS: A negative correlation was found between maximum wind speed and daily cases 3 days before stroke. As the relationship between daily cases and changes of weather conditions in consecutive days was evaluated, a negative correlation was found between daily cases and change of atmospheric pressure in the last 24 hours.CONCLUSIONS: The maximum wind speed 3 days before stroke and change of atmospheric pressure in the last 24 hours were found to increase the cases of ischemic stroke. We recommend that individuals at risk of ischemic stroke should pay more attention to preventive measures, especially on days with low maximum wind speed, on subsequent 3 days, and on days with low atmospheric pressure in the last 24 hours.Harun Gunes Hayati Kandis Ayhan Saritas Suber Dikici Ramazan Buyukkaya 2015World Journal of Emergency Medicine2015,6,3:6
2Analysis of temporal changes in land cover and landscape metrics of a managed forest in the west Black Sea region of northern Turkey: 1970–2010显示文摘Forest structure changes continuously by natural and anthropogenic effects. Because the level of goods and services provided by forest ecosystems are related to this structure, some attributes have to be controlled while they are being managed. In this paper we describe the long-term temporal changes in land area and landscape metrics related to different land uses of a managed forest in Turkey. The study was carried out for the Daday Forest Planning Unit located in the west Black Sea region of northern Turkey. The total area is 16,813 ha and besides wood production, it is managed for erosion control, public health, aesthetics, and recreation. Stand type maps that were constructed in 1970,1989, 1999, and 2010 were used in this analysis. Transition matrixes that illustrate area changes among cover types and temporal changes on some landscape metrics were obtained using Geographic Information Systems. Stands were separated into small patches, and thus the number of patches increased nearly two-fold between 1970 and 2010. The total forest edge increased and through the associated fragmentation, the amount of core forest area decreased at the landscape scale. Landscape metrics were applied to digitized versions of historical maps to assess how forest area changed. 3Electromechanical properties of Ce-doped(Ba_(0.85)Ca_(0.15))(Zr_(0.1)Ti_(0.9))O_(3)lead-free piezoceramics显示文摘Lead-free piezoceramics based on the(Ba,Ca)(Zr,Ti)O3(BCZT) system exhibit excellent electromechanical properties for low-temperature actuation applications, but suffer from relatively high processing temperatures. Here we demonstrate an approach for the reduction of the sintering temperature and simultaneous increase of the electromechanical strain response of(Ba,Ca)(Zr,Ti)O3 piezoceramics by aliovalent doping with Ce. The samples were prepared by solid state synthesis and their crystallographic structure, dielectric, ferroelectric, and electromechanical properties were investigated. The highest d33* value of 1189 pm/V was obtained for the sample with 0.05 mol% Ce, substituted on the A-site of the perovskite lattice. 4Role of the CXCR4-SDF1-HMGB1 pathway in the directional migration of cells and regeneration of affected organs显示文摘In recent years,several studies have reported positive outcomes of cell-based therapies despite insufficient engraftment of transplanted cells.These findings have created a huge interest in the regenerative potential of paracrine factors released from transplanted stem or progenitor cells.Interestingly,this notion has also led scientists to question the role of proteins in the secretome produced by cells,tissues or organisms under certain conditions or at a particular time of regenerative therapy.Further studies have revealed that the secretomes derived from different cell types contain paracrine factors that could help to prevent apoptosis and induce proliferation of cells residing within the tissues of affected organs.This could also facilitate the migration of immune,progenitor and stem cells within the body to the site of inflammation.Of these different paracrine factors present within the secretome,researchers have given proper consideration to stromal cell-derived factor-1(SDF1)that plays a vital role in tissue-specific migration of the cells needed for regeneration.Recently researchers recognized that SDF1 could facilitate site-specific migration of cells by regulating SDF1-CXCR4 and/or HMGB1-SDF1-CXCR4 pathways which is vital for tissue regeneration.Hence in this study,we have attempted to describe the role of different types of cells within the body in facilitating regeneration while emphasizing the HMGB1-SDF1-CXCR4 pathway that orchestrates the migration of cells to the site where regeneration is needed.Nazmul Haque Ismail M Fareez Liew Fong Fong Chanchal Mandal Noor Hayaty Abu Kasim Kranthi RajaKacharaju Pratiwi Soesilawati 2020World Journal of Stem Cells2020,12,9:3
5Acute intoxication cases admitted to the emergency department of a university hospital显示文摘BACKGROUND: This study aimed to describe the clinical and socio-demographic aspects of acute poisoning in 2010 in Duzce City, Northwest Anatolian Region of Turkey.METHODS: Acute poisoning was due to the intentional ingestion of drugs in young and adult people(≥16), who were treated at the Emergency Service of Duzce University Medical Hospital, Turkey from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. In this retrospective and descriptive study, 95 patients were diagnosed with intoxications and 30 of them intentionally ingested drugs to commit suicide. Records of the patients diagnosed with intoxication were obtained from the Clinical Archive of the hospital. Their diagnoses were established according to the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. Codes X60-X84 of this classification were used to classify self-infringed drug injuries and drug poisoning.RESULTS: In this series, 35(36.8%) patients were male and 60 patients(63.2%) female. The male/female ratio was 1.0/1.7. The mean age of the patients was 33.1±14.2 years; 17(17.9%) patients were below 20 years old and 9(9.5%) were older than 50 years. Of these patients, 29(30.5%) were single, 7(7.4%) divorced or separated, and 59(62.1%) married. Their mean time for admission to the emergency service after the incident was 208±180(15–660) minutes. The mean time for admission to the emergency service for patients with food intoxication after the incident was 142±160 minutes, for those with drug intoxication 173±161 minutes, for those with carbon monoxide(CO) intoxication 315±209 minutes, and for those with undefined intoxication 289±166 minutes(P=0.005). Most of the intoxication cases occurred in winter(41.1%, 39 of 95 patients). Admissions to the emergency service were most common in December and April(21 and 16 of 95 patients, respectively). Sixty-five(68.4%) cases were involved in non-deliberate poisoning, whereas 30(31.6%) were involved in deliberate poisoning. Twenty-six of the 95 patients with acute poisonings had mortality risk at admission, however only one died from CO intoxication in the emergency service(1.1%). Suicide attempts were more common in females than in males(21 of 30 patients, 70%, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: In Duzce City of Turkey, most intoxication cases occurred in winter, especially in December. 7Disorganization of the retinal inner layers as a prognostic factor in eyes with central retinal artery occlusion显示文摘AIM: To evaluate baseline foveal disorganisation of retinal inner layers(DRIL) as a prognostic factor in eyes with central retinal artery occlusion(CRAO). METHODS: Twenty-eight CRAO patients who were followed-up between 2010 and 2016 were retrospectively investigated. Demographic characteristics and detailed ophthalmological examination findings of all patients were recorded. Macular thicknesses(MTs) from 5 separate spots and DRIL were measured with spectral-domain optic coherence tomography(SD-OCT). Correlations between DRIL score and logMAR converted visual acuity(VA), change in VA, patient reference time(RT), number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT) sessions, MT and MT change were investigated.RESULTS: There was a positive correlation between the DRIL score and the final VA(r=0.787) and a negative correlation with the change in VA(r=-0.763). The RT and MT were closely related to the DRIL score. A negative correlation was found between the number of HBOT sessions and the DRIL score(r=-0.341).CONCLUSION: The DRIL score is a parameter assessed by SD-OCT, which can provide us reliable information regarding the prognosis of visual functions and response to the treatment for CRAO patients at acute phase.Hayati Yilmaz Ali H.Durukan 2019International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2019,12,6:2
8急性突眼发作继发于皮下脂膜炎样T细胞淋巴瘤1例(英文)显示文摘目的:报告罕见突眼急性发作病例继发于皮下脂膜炎样T细胞淋巴瘤(SPTCL)1例。方法:病例报告。结果:患者,男,27岁,马来人,左眼眼球突出急性发病2wk。伴随长期高烧病史。在此期间他的身体和双大腿还多发肿胀红斑。双眼视力为6/6。左眼眼球突出和球结膜水肿。各个方向眼外运动受限。角膜和眼前段正常。眼底检查显示正常视盘和视网膜。右眼检查为正常。体温40.0℃,全身多发皮下红斑病灶主要分布在左腋下、右季肋部、双大腿和耻骨上区。腹股沟淋巴结也是可触及的。脑磁共振成像显示左冠外和眶后广泛软组织肿胀,暗示着炎症反应。海绵窦和大脑正常。红斑病灶处皮肤切片揭示为SPTCL。其被提交给血液病医师,并开始CHOP方案化疗。患者化疗反应良好,眼球突出复位。结论:眼球突出继发于SPTCL是非常罕见的。这是一个外周T细胞淋巴瘤的变异,特点是多发皮下结节表现为眼球突出和发烧。Hayati Abdul Aziz Loh Swee Seng Choon Slew Eng Wan Hazabbah Wan Hitam 2010国际眼科杂志2010,10,7:2

20Effects of synthesized nanoparticles and Henna-Tragacanth solutions on oil/water interfacial tension:Nanofluids stability considerations显示文摘Rising global energy demand has encouraged engineers to create and design new methods to improve oil recovery from reservoirs.In this study,feasibility of using Henna extract as a natural surfactant and synthesized nanoparticles(Titanium dioxide(TiO2),Silicon dioxide(SiO2),Graphene and composite of TiO2-Graphene)for reduction of oil-water interfacial tension has been experimentally investigated.Nanoparticles were synthesized via sol-gel method and XRD,FESEM,EDAX and FTIR tests were conducted to confirm the authenticity of this synthesizing materials.Nano-surfactants were stabled with a natural water-based suspending surfactant called Tragacanth extract,which could be introduced as a practical substitute for industrial nanoparticles'stabilizers in oil industry.After CMC determination of Henna extract surfactant,the optimal concentration of Tragacanth extract surfactant,with the purpose of nano-surfactants’stabilization,was determined through particle size and zeta potential tests.Results of interfacial tension(IFT)measurements showed that the increase of Henna extract concentration from 0 wt%to 10 wt%reduced IFT between kerosene and water from 37.23 to 15.24 mN/m.Furthermore,adding 1 wt%of synthesized TiO2 nanoparticle to the Henna extract surfactant at its CMC value reduced IFT from 18.43 to 14.57 mN/m.As an impact of this significant reduction in IFT value,oil recovery factor could be improved drastically during EOR operations.Results proved that TiO2 nano-surfactant was as effective as industrial surfactants,which put human's and environment's health at risk and impose heavy economic strain on governments.Pouya Tavakoli Seyed Reza Shadizadeh Farzan Hayati Moslem Fattahi 2020Petroleum2020,6,3:1
