| 1 | Sonodynamic therapy(SDT): a novel strategy for cancer nanotheranostics显示文摘Sonodynamic therapy(SDT) is a promising non-invasive therapeutic modality. Compared to photo-inspired therapy, SDT provides many opportunities and benefits, including deeper tissue penetration, high precision, less side effects, and good patient compliance. Thanks to the facile engineerable nature of nanotechnology, nanoparticles-based sonosensitizers exhibit predominant advantages, such as increased SDT efficacy, binding avidity, and targeting specificity. This review aims to summarize the possible mechanisms of SDT, which can be expected to provide the theoretical basis for SDT development in the future. We also extensively discuss nanoparticle-assisted sonosensitizers to enhance the outcome of SDT. | 2 | Sulfide mineral dissolution microbes: Community structure and function in industrial bioleaching heaps显示文摘Heap bioleaching is one of the most clean and economical processes for recovery of low-grade and complex ores, because the sulfide minerals are natural habitats for acidophiles capable of iron-and sulfur-oxidation. The most exciting advances in heap bioleaching are occurring in the field of microbiology, especially with the development of advanced molecular biology approaches. These chemolithotrophic microorganisms living in the acid mine environment fix N_2 and CO_2 and obtain energy for growth from soluble ferrous iron and reduced inorganic sulfur compounds during oxidation of sulfide minerals. The ferric iron as oxidant and sulfuric acid are a result of microbial activity and provide favorable conditions for the dissolution of sulfide minerals. Various microbial consortia were applied successfully in commercial bioleaching heaps around the world, and microbial community and activity were adapted related to the local climatic conditions, ore characteristics and engineering configuration. | 3 | High-performance polarization management devices based on thin-film lithium niobate显示文摘High-speed polarization management is highly desirable for many applications,such as remote sensing,telecommunication,and medical diagnosis.However,most of the approaches for polarization management rely on bulky optical components that are slow to respond,cumbersome to use,and sometimes with high drive voltages.Here,we overcome these limitations by harnessing photonic integrated circuits based on thin-film lithium niobate platform.We successfully realize a portfolio of thin-film lithium niobate devices for essential polarization management functionalities,including arbitrary polarization generation,fast polarization measurement,polarization scrambling,and automatic polarization control.The present devices feature ultra-fast control speeds,low drive voltages,low optical losses and compact footprints.Using these devices,we achieve high fidelity polarization generation with a polarization extinction ratio up to 41.9 dB and fast polarization scrambling with a scrambling rate up to 65 Mrad s−1,both of which are best results in integrated optics.We also demonstrate the endless polarization state tracking operation in our devices.The demonstrated devices unlock a drastically new level of performance and scales in polarization management devices,leading to a paradigm shift in polarization management. | Zhongjin Lin Yanmei Lin Hao Li Mengyue Xu Mingbo He Wei Ke Heyun Tan Ya Han Zhaohui Li Dawei Wang X.Steve Yao Songnian Fu Siyuan Yu Xinlun Cai | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5: | 3 |
| 4 | Recent Advances in Variable Flux Memory Machines for Traction Applications: A Review显示文摘This paper overviews the recent advances in variable flux memory machines(VFMMs)for traction applications with particular reference to newly emerged machine topologies and related control strategies.Due to the use of flux memorable low coercive force(LCF)magnets,the air-gap flux of VFMM can be flexibly varied via a magnetizing current pulse.Thus,the copper loss associated with the flux weakening current and high-speed iron loss can be significantly reduced,and hence high efficiency can be achieved over a wide speed and torque/power operation.These merits make VFMM potentially attractive for electric vehicle(EV)applications.Various novel VFMMs are reviewed with particular reference to their topologies,working principle,characteristics and related control techniques.In order to tackle the drawbacks in the existing VFMMs,some new designs are introduced for performance improvement.Then,the electromagnetic characteristics of an exemplified EV-scaled switched flux memory machine and various benchmark traction machine choices,such as induction machine,synchronous reluctance machines,as well as commercially available Prius 2010 interior permanent magnet(IPM)machine are compared.Finally,the key challenges and development trends of VFMM are highlighted,respectively. | Hui Yang Heyun Lin Z.Q.Zhu | 2018 | CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2018,2,1: | 2 |
