1Black tea in chemo-prevention of cancer and other human diseases显示文摘Tea is the most popular functional beverage in the world and has been gaining more and more attention for its health beneficial properties.Among common teas,black tea is consumed more than green tea and oolong tea worldwide.Numerous studies have shown the biological activities of black tea and its polyphenols that include anti-oxidant,anti-tumor,anti-inflammation and metabolic regulation.Tea polyphenols such as theaflavins and catechins are considered to be multifunctional compounds that could be effective in the prevention or treatment of various cancers,cardiovascular disease,chronic inflammation,obesity,metabolic syndrome,and neurodegenerative diseases.In this review,we summarized the up-to-date research and underlying molecular mechanisms of black tea and its polyphenols.©2013 Beijing Academy of Food Sciences.Production and hosting by Elsevier B.V.All rights reserved.Min-Hsiung Pan Ching-Shu Lai Hong Wang Chih-Yu Lo Chi-Tang Ho Shiming Li 2013Food Science and Human Wellness2013,2,1:16
2小切口单髁置换和全膝关节置换配对比较临床早期结果显示文摘目的 通过配对比较 ,观察小切口单髁置换和全膝关节置换治疗单室膝关节骨性关节炎的早期临床结果。方法 2 0 0 1年 6~ 12月 ,新加坡中央医院采用小切口单髁置换连续治疗 5 0例内侧单室膝关节骨关节炎患者 ,同时对在年龄、临床症状、膝关节的X线分级上进行配对比较的 5 0例内侧单室膝关节骨关节炎患者进行全膝关节置换。小切口单髁置换组 ,男 9例 ,女 4 1例 ;年龄 5 2~ 85岁 ,平均 6 4岁。全膝关节置换组 ,男 8例 ,女 4 2例 ;年龄 5 5~ 80岁 ,平均 6 7岁。临床均表现为膝关节内侧间隙疼痛 ,AhlbackX线分级Ⅰ~Ⅲ级。结果 小切口单髁置换组与全膝关节置换组比较 ,具有出血量少、膝关节功能恢复快、住院时间短、并发症少、创伤小、康复快、费用少等优点。结论 对于单室膝关节骨关节炎 ,小切口单髁置换与全膝关节置换术比较 。王铭春 Lo Ngai Nung Yeo Seng Jin Seow Kang Hong Yang Kuang Ying 2002上海医学2002,25,11:5
3Ribosome Biogenesis Factor Bmsl-like Is Essential for Liver Development in Zebrafish显示文摘Ribosome biogenesis in the nucleolus requires numerous nucleolar proteins and small non-coding RNAs.Among them is ribosome biogenesis factor Bmsl,which is highly conserved from yeast to human.In yeast,Bmsl initiates ribosome biogenesis through recruiting Rcll to pre-ribosomes.However,little is known about the biological function of Bmsl in vertebrates.Here we report that Bmsl plays an essential role in zebrafish liver development.We identified a zebrafish bms1l^(sq163) mutant which carries a T to A mutation in the gene bmsl-like(bms1l).This mutation results in L^(152) to Q^(152) substitution in a GTPase motif in Bmsll.Surprisingly,bmsll^(sq163) mutation confers hypoplasia specifically in the liver,exocrine pancreas and intestine after 3 days post-fertilization(dpf).Consistent with the bmsll^(sq163) mutant phenotypes,whole-mount in situ hybridization(WISH) on wild type embryos showed that bmsll transcripts are abundant in the entire digestive tract and its accessory organs.Immunostaining for phospho-Histone 3(P-H3) and TUNEL assay revealed that impairment of hepatoblast proliferation rather than cell apoptosis is one of the consequences of bms1l^(sq163) giving rise to an under-developed liver.Therefore,our findings demonstrate that Bmsll is necessary for zebrafish liver development.Yong Wanga,Yue Luoa,Yunhan Hong(b,),Jinrong Peng(a,),Lijan Lo(a,b,) a College of Animal Sciences,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310058,China b Department of Biological Sciences,National University of Singapore,Science Drive 4,Singapore 117543,Singapore 2012Journal of Genetics and Genomics2012,39,9:4
4Single atom and defect engineering of CuO for efficient electrochemical reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4)显示文摘Electrochemical CO_(2) transformation to high‐value ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))at high currents and efficiencies is desired and yet remains a grand challenge.We show for the first time that coupling single Sb atoms and oxygen vacancies of CuO enable synergistic electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4) at low overpotentials.Highly dispersed Sb atoms occupying metal substitutional sites of CuO are synthesized under mild conditions.The overall CO_(2) reduction faradaic efficiency(FE)reaches 89.3±1.1%with an FE toward C_(2)H_(4) exceeding 58.4%at a high‐current density of 500 mA/cm^(2).Addition of the p‐block metal is found to induce transformation of CuO from flakes to nanoribbons rich in nanoholes and oxygen vacancies,greatly enhancing CO_(2) adsorption and activation while suppressing hydrogen evolution.Further density functional theory calculations with in situ X‐ray diffraction reveal that combining Sb sites and oxygen vacancies prominently lessen the dimerization energy of adsorbed CO intermediate,thus boosting the conversion of CO_(2) to produce C_(2)H_(4).This study provides a new perspective for promoting selective C-C coupling for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction.Senlin Chu Changwoo Kang Woonghyeon Park Yu Han Song Hong Leiduan Hao Hao Zhang Tsz Woon Benedict Lo Alex W.Robertson Yousung Jung Buxing Han Zhenyu Sun 2022SmartMat2022,3,1:3
5Experience of donor right lobe hepatectomy in adult-to-adult live donor liver transplantation: clinical analysis of 89 cases显示文摘Objective: To review the experience of donor selec-tion and right lobe hepatectomy in adult-to-adult livedonor liver transplantation.Methods: From May 1996 to December 2001, 89 livedonor liver transplants using right lobe grafts wereperformed at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong. Alldonors had received psychological counseling beforedonor operations. They were screened by laboratorytests including complete blood cell count, liver andrenal biochemistry, and viral serology studies. Com-puted tomography (CT), CT volumetry and hepaticarteriography were routinely performed. All donorsunderwent the operations using the method designedby us.Results: The median duration of the operations was8.8 hours. The median blood loss recorded 466 ml.The median intensive care unit and hospital stayswere 2 and 10 days, respectively. There was no do-nor mortality.
