1Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine preparations in patients with chronic heart failure:a prospective,single-blind,randomized,controlled,and multicenter clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF) of Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) preparations.METHODS: This prospective, single-blind, randomized, controlled, and multicenter clinical trial began on September 17, 2008, and was completed on June 25, 2011. A total of 340 inpatients, aged 40-79 years, with exacerbating CHF from 10 hospitals were enrolled and randomly allocated within 24 h of admission. The trial included three intervention periods. During hospitalization, the control group received western medication for CHF and the treatment group received Danhong injection with Shenfu injection or Shenmai injection. After discharge,all patients were treated with Qiliqiangxin capsules and Buyiqiangxin tablets or a placebo for 6 months. After the 6-month intervention, both groups received only continuous western medication. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality.The efficacy assessments were as follows: B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP), Lee's HF score, the 6-minute walking test(6 MWT), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire(MLHFQ). The safety assessments were as follows: blood and urine routine examination, hepatic and renal function, electrolytes in blood and adverse events.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed a 30.99% reduction in all-cause mortality and an improved survival rate.The treatment group showed greater improvement in 6 MWT(P = 0.02) than the control group on discharge, after 12-month follow-up, there was a time-group interaction for MLHFQ(P = 0.03). 2Cardioprotective mechanism of SGLT2 inhibitor against myocardial infarction is through reduction of autosis显示文摘Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2(SGLT2)inhibitors reduce cardiovascular mortality in patients with diabetes mellitus but the protective mechanism remains elusive.Here we demonstrated that the SGLT2 inhibitor,Empagliflozin(EMPA),suppresses cardiomyocytes autosis(autophagic cell death)to confer cardioprotective effects.Using myocardial infarction(Ml)mouse models with and without diabetes mellitus,EMPA treatment significantly reduced infarct size,and myocardial fibrosis,thereby leading to improved cardiac function and survival.In the context of ischemia and nutritional glucose deprivation where autosis is already highly stimulated,EMPA directly inhibits the activity of the Na^(+)/H^(+)exchanger 1(NHE1)in the cardiomyocytes to regulate excessive autophagy.Knockdown of NHE1 significantly rescued glucose deprivation-induced autosis.In contrast,overexpression of NHE1 aggravated the cardiomyocytes death in response to starvation,which was effectively rescued by EMPA treatment.Furthermore,in vitro and in vivo analysis of NHE1 and Beclin 1 knockout mice validated that EMPA s cardioprotective effects are at least in part through downregulation of autophagic flux.These findings provide new insights for drug development,specifically targeting NHE1 and autosis for ventricular remodeling and heart failure after Ml in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients.Kai Jiang Yue Xu Dandan Wang Feng Chen Zizhuo Tu Jie Qian Sheng Xu Yixiang Xu John Hwa Jian Li Hongcai Shang Yaozu Xiang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,5:13
3Syntheses and characterization of anti-thrombotic and anti-oxidative Gastrodin-modified polyurethane for vascular tissue engineering显示文摘Vascular grafts must avoid negative inflammatory responses and thrombogenesis to prohibit fibrotic deposition immediately upon implantation and promote the regeneration of small diameter blood vessels(<6 mm inner diameter).Here,polyurethane(PU)elastomers incorporating anti-coagulative and anti-inflammatory Gastrodin were fabricated.The films had inter-connected pores with porosities equal to or greater than 86%and pore sizes ranging from 250 to 400μm.Incorporation of Gastrodin into PU films resulted in desirable mechanical properties,hydrophilicity,swelling ratios and degradation rates without collapse.The released Gastrodin maintained bioactivity over 21 days as assessed by its anti-oxidative capability.The Gastrodin/PU had better anti-coagulation response(less observable BSA,fibrinogen and platelet adhesion/activation and suppressed clotting in whole blood).Red blood cell compatibility,measured by hemolysis,was greatly improved with 2Gastrodin/PU compared to other Gastrodin/PU groups.Notably,Gastrodin/PU upregulated anti-oxidant factors Nrf2 and HO-1 expression in H2O2 treated HUVECs,correlated with decreasing pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-αand IL-1β in RAW 264.7 cells.Upon implantation in a subcutaneous pocket,PU was encapsulated by an obvious fibrous capsule,concurrent with a large amount of inflammatory cell infiltration,while Gastrodin/PU induced a thinner fibrous capsule,especially 2Gastrodin/PU.Further,enhanced adhesion and proliferation of HUVECs seeded onto films in vitro demonstrated that 2Gastrodin/PU could help cell recruitment,as evidenced by rapid host cell infiltration and substantial blood vessel formation in vivo.These results indicate that 2Gastrodin/PU has the potential to facilitate blood vessel regeneration,thus providing new insight into the development of clinically effective vascular grafts.Meng Zheng Jiazhi Guo Qing Li Jian Yang Yi Han Hongcai Yang Mali Yu Lianmei Zhong Di Lu Limei Li Lin Sun 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,2:7
4Synergistic anti-inflammatory and osteogenic n-HA/resveratrol/chitosan composite microspheres for osteoporotic bone regeneration显示文摘The development of functional materials for osteoporosis is ultimately required for bone remodeling.However,grafts were accompanied by increasing pro-inflammatory cytokines that impaired bone formation.In this work,nano-hydroxyapatite(n-HA)/resveratrol(Res)/chitosan(CS)composite microspheres were designed to create a beneficial microenvironment and help improve the osteogenesis by local sustained release of Res.Study of in vitro release confirmed the feasibility of n-HA/Res/CS microspheres for controlled Res release.Notably,microspheres had anti-inflammatory activity evidenced by the decreased expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α,IL-1βand iNOS in RAW264.7 cells in a dose dependent manner.Further,enhanced adhesion and proliferation of BMSCs seeded onto microspheres demonstrated that composite microspheres were conducive to cell growth.The ability to enhance osteo-differentiation was supported by up-regulation of Runx2,ALP,Col-1 and OCN,and substantial mineralization in osteogenic medium.When implanted into bone defects in the osteoporotic rat femoral condyles,enhanced entochondrostosis and bone regeneration suggested that the n-HA/Res/CS composite microspheres were more favorable for impaired fracture healing.The results indicated that optimized n-HA/Res/CS composite microspheres could serve as promising multifunctional fillers for osteoporotic bone defect/fracture treatment.Limei Li Mali Yu Yao Li Qing Li Hongcai Yang Meng Zheng Yi Han Di Lu Sheng Lu Li Gui 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:6

7Geology, Geochemistry, and Geochronology of the Fenghuangshan Skarn-type Copper Deposit in the Tongling Ore Cluster, Anhui Province, East China显示文摘The Fenghuangshan skarn-type Cu deposit, Tongling Ore Cluster, Anhui Province, is an important component in the Middle-Lower Yangtze River ore-forming belt. To better understand magmatism and its relationship to mineralization, we investigated geochemical features, ore-forming fluids, and geochronology of the Xinwuli intrusion and the related Fenghuangshan Cu deposit. Lithogeochemical characteristics show that the Xinwuli quartz monzodiorite is formed by mixing magma derived from upper mantle alkaline basalt that has been contaminated by crust materials. C, H and O isotopes indicate that ore-forming fluids mainly come from the magma, with minor amounts of meteoric fluids involved at the late stage. S and Pb isotopic components indicate that ore-forming materials are derived from the mantle. Molybdenite Re-Os isotopic dating yields Re-Os model ages ranging from 139.1±2.4 Ma to 142.0±2.2 Ma, with an isochronal age of 141.1±1.4 Ma, which is consistent with sensitive, high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) zircon U-Pb ages of quartz monzodiorite and granodiorite in the mining area. 8Eco-friendly PVA/Kaolin Clay Coating for Barrier Paper显示文摘The resistance of wood-fiber paper to water, grease, and water vapor is usually attained by immersing the base paper in hydrophobic oil, laminating with a plastic or metal film, or the application of a barrier coating. Oil impregnation and the addition of films may make the paper difficult to recycle or persistent in the environment owing to their strong binding force and nondegradability. Environmental concerns have attracted worldwide attention to eco-friendly barrier coatings. In this study, degradable polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) and kaolin clay pigment were used to prepare coatings that were applied to a base paper. By measuring the barrier properties of the coated paper, including the water absorptiveness(Cobb60 value), Hercules sizing degree, oil resistance(Kit rating), and water vapor transmission rate(WVTR), an optimal coating formulation and process were proposed. To examine the barrier mechanism of the PVA/kaolin clay coating, we characterized the coating microstructures using a scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and a mercury porosimeter. The results showed that the Cobb60 value and water vapor transmission rate of the coated paper decreased by 61.4% and 98.6%, respectively, compared with the base paper, for a pre-coating weight of 0.98 g/m^2 and a top-coating weight of about 3.23 g/m^2. Furthermore, the Hercules sizing degree rose by a factor of 337.2, while the oil resistance(Kit rating) increased from 0 to 12. The optimum drying temperature for a wet coating layer was found to be 170℃, and the optimum weight ratio of PVA to kaolin clay in the coating was determined to be 50∶50. It was assumed that the PVA/kaolin clay coating improved the smoothness of the paper considerably and decreased the pore size by filling the pores on the paper surface and forming an even film, thus enhancing the paper barrier performance. 9A finite-element simulation on deformational energy in structural deformed zone显示文摘Under the same conditions of external force, simulations on differences of deformational energy in structural zones, which have different deformational behavior, and that on the distribution of the differences have been carried out by means of finite-element method. Shear deformational energy U_w is higher than volume deformational energy U_T by about one order of magnitude, and deformationat energy U_B( = U_w + U_T) and U_w show a trend to be larger→largest→small in quantity in structural zones of different deformational properties, which correspond to compressive, shear, tensile zones, respectively, but U_T shows a trend to be large→small gradually. 10ALOX15-launched PUFA-phospholipids peroxidation increases the susceptibility of ferroptosis in ischemia-induced myocardial damage显示文摘Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion(/R)injury is a classic type of cardiovascular disease characterized by injury to cardiomyocytes leading to various forms of cell death.It is believed that irreversible myocardial damage resulted from I/R occurs due to oxidative stress evoked during the reperfusion phase.Here we demonstrate that ischemia triggers a specific redox reaction of polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)-phospholipids in myocardial cells,which acts as a priming signaling that initiates the outbreak of robust oxidative damage in the reperfusion phase.Using animal and in vitro models,the crucial lipid species in I/R injury were identifed to be oxidized PUFAs enriched phosphatidylethanolamines.Using multi-omics,arachidonic acid 15-lipoxygenase-1(ALOx15)was identified as the primary mediator of ischemia-provoked phospholipid peroxidation,which was further confirmed using chemogenetic approaches.Collectively,our results reveal that ALOx15 induction in the ischemia phase acts as a'burning point'to ignite phospholipid oxidization into ferroptotic signals.This finding characterizes a novel molecular mechanism for myocardial ischemia injury and offers a potential therapeutic target for early intervention of V/R injury.Xiao-Hui Ma Jiang-Han-Zi Liu Chun-Yu Liu Wan-Yang Sun Wen-Jun Duan Guan Wang Hiroshi Kuriara Rong-Rong He Yi-Fang Li Yang Chen Hongcai Shang 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9:2
11Preparation of Ultrafine Starch Particle and its Application in Paper Coating显示文摘Despite its biodegradability, adequate cohesive strength and comparatively low cost, the use of cooked starch as a paper coating binder is limited due to its high viscosity and serious negative impact on the gloss. Starch-based bio-latex with size in the nanometer or sub-micrometer range has been developed recently to overcome these shortcomings. In this study, ultrafine starch particle(UFSP) was prepared by mechanical milling using a DYNO mill in combination with light chemical pretreatment. Model coating colors containing different dosages of UFSP were applied to base paper and the properties of the coated papers were evaluated. The results showed that the UFSP was disc-shaped with a median particle diameter of 167 nm. Water retention capacity of the coating colors was improved considerably with the addition of UFSP, i.e., the water retention value decreased by nearly 40% when styrene-butadiene latex was replaced by UFSP at a dosage of 3 pph(per hundred parts of pigment). The high shear rate viscosities of the coating colors containing no more than 2 pph of USFP were similar to that of the control coating color at shear strain rate higher than 2000 s^(-1). The properties and performances of the coated papers were comparable to the control coated paper with single synthesized latex binder. The gloss and the print gloss of paper samples with or without USFP were 59.7% and 58.2%, 79.0% and 78.8%, respectively. Surface strength of paper samples with or without USFP were 0.96 and 0.90 m/s, respectively, while the ink absorptivity values were 34% and 33%. 14Comparison of two earthquake early warning location methods显示文摘According to earthquake catalog records of Fujian Seismic Network, the Tnowmethod and the fourstation continuous location method put forward by Jin Xing are inspected by using P-wave arrival information of the first four stations in each earthquake. It shows that the fourstation continuous location method can locate more seismic events than the Tnowmethod. By analyzing the results, it is concluded that the reason for this is that the Tnowmethod makes use of information from stations without being triggered, while some stations failed to be reflected in earthquake catalog because of discontinuous records or unclear records of seismic phases. For seismic events whose location results can be given, there is no obvious difference in location results of the two methods and positioning deviation of most seismic events is also not significant. 15Preparation,model construction and efficacy lipid-lowering evaluation of kiwifruit juice fermented by probiotics显示文摘In this study,kiwi juice was fermented with acid-resistant and bile-resistant probiotics to screen out lactic acid bacteria that can lower cholesterol and were suitable for kiwi fermentation.A non-linear fitting equation was used to establish a kinetic model of probiotics fermenting kiwi juice(R^(2)>0.90),and then a fermented juice with special effects of lowering fat was prepared.We have studied the lipid-lowering effect of fermented fruit juice through in vivo validation experiments in mice,and determined the lipid-lowering effect of fermented fruit juice according to the mouse serum indicators and the distribution of intestinal flora.The results suggested that the juice fermented with Bifidobacterium bifidum 6169 and Lactobacillus plantarum 21805 were more effective in cholesterol degradation,and the cholesterol degradation rates were 67.57%and 64.22%,respectively.The number of viable bacteria after fermentation was significantly higher than other groups(p<0.05),and the sensory score was also higher.In addition,the serum indicators were significantly ameliorated and the number of beneficial microorganisms in the intestinal flora increased after the high-fat mice were treated with fermented kiwifruit juice.The research indicates that the fermented products have a regulatory effect on cholesterol levels in mice with hyperlipidemia.Yu Wang Hongcai Li Yichen Ren Yaqin Wang Ren Yaopeng Wang Xiaowei Yue Tianli Wang Zhouli Gao Zhenpeng 2022Food Bioscience2022,47,3:1
16Earthquake magnitude estimation using the s_c and P_d method for earthquake early warning systems显示文摘Earthquake early warning(EEW) systems are one of the most effective ways to reduce earthquake disaster.Earthquake magnitude estimation is one of the most important and also the most difficult parts of the entire EEW system. In this paper, based on 142 earthquake events and253 seismic records that were recorded by the KiK-net in Japan, and aftershocks of the large Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan, we obtained earthquake magnitude estimation relationships using the scand Pdmethods. The standard variances of magnitude calculation of these two formulas are ±0.65 and ±0.56, respectively. The Pdvalue can also be used to estimate the peak ground motion of velocity, then warning information can be released to the public rapidly,according to the estimation results. In order to insure the stability and reliability of magnitude estimation results, we propose a compatibility test according to the natures of these two parameters. 20Gastrodin modified polyurethane conduit promotes nerve repair via optimizing Schwann cells function显示文摘Peripheral nerve regeneration and functional recovery remain a major clinical challenge.Nerve guidance conduit(NGC)that can regulate biological behavior of Schwann cells(SCs)and facilitate axonal regeneration through microenvironmental remodeling is beneficial for nerve regeneration and functional recovery.Gastrodin,a main constituent of a Chinese traditional herbal medicine,has been known to display several biological and pharmacological properties,especially antioxidative,anti-inflammatory and nerve regeneration.Herein,polyurethane(PU)NGCs modified by different weight ratio of Gastrodin(0,1 and 5 wt%)were designed for sequential and sustainable drug release,that created a favorable microenvironment for nerve regeneration.The scaffold showed suitable pore structure and biocompatibility in vitro,and evidently promoted morphological and functional recovery of regenerated sciatic nerves in vivo.Compared to the PU and 1% Gastrodin/PU scaffolds,the 5% Gastrodin/PU significantly enhanced the proliferation,migration and myelination of SCs and up-regulated expression of neurotrophic factors,as well as induction of the differentiation of PC12 cells.Interestingly,the obvious anti-inflammatory response was observed in 5% Gastrodin/PU by reduced expression of TNF-α and iNOS,which also evidenced by the few fibrous capsule formation in the subcutaneous implantation.Such a construct presented a similarity to autograft in vivo repairing a 10 mm sciatic nerve defects.It was able to not only boost the regenerated area of nerve and microvascular network,but also facilitate functional axons growth and remyelination,leading to highly improved functional restoration.These findings demonstrate that the 5% Gastrodin/PU NGC efficiently promotes nerve regeneration,indicating their potential for use in peripheral nerve regeneration applications.Hongcai Yang Qing Li Limei Li Shaochun Chen Yu Zhao Yingrui Hu Lu wang Xiaoqian Lan Lianmei Zhong Di Lu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:1
