1Progress in ENSO prediction and predictability study显示文摘ENSO is the strongest interannual signal in the global climate system with worldwide climatic, ecological and societal impacts. Over the past decades, the research about ENSO prediction and predictability has attracted broad attention. With the development of coupled models, the improvement in initialization schemes and the progress in theoretical studies, ENSO has become the most predictable climate mode at the time scales from months to seasons. This paper reviews in detail the progress in ENSO predictions and predictability studies achieved in recent years. An emphasis is placed on two fundamental issues: the improvement in practical prediction skills and progress in the theoretical study of the intrinsic predictability limit. 4Encoding-Decoding-Based Recursive Filtering for Fractional-Order Systems显示文摘Dear editor,This letter focuses on the encoding-decoding-based recursive filtering problem for a class of fractional-order systems.For the purpose of protecting security of the wireless communication network,a dynamic-quantization-based encoding-decoding mechanism is introduced to encrypt the transmitted measurement.Specifically,the measurement outputs are first encoded by the encoder into codewords which are then transmitted over the wireless communication network.After received by the decoder,the codewords are decoded and then sent to the filter.In light of the mathematical properties of truncated Gaussian distribution,the variance of the encoding-decoding-induced error between the decoded measurement and the real measurement is derived.An upper bound on the filtering error covariance is first obtained based on the variance of the encoding-decoding-induced error.Then,the minimal upper bound is derived by choosing proper filter gain.Finally,the efficiency and superiority of the proposed algorithm are verified through a simulation example.Bo Jiang Hongli Dong Yuxuan Shen Shujuan Mu 2022IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2022,9,6:1

7Phase-shifting technique applied to circular harmonic-based joint transform correlator显示文摘The phase-shifting technique is applied to the circular harmonic expansion-based jointtransform correlator. Computer simulation has shown that the light efficiency and the discrimination capability are greatly enhanced, and the full rotation invariance is preserved after the phase-shifting technique has been used. A rotation-invariant optical pattern recognition with high discrimination capability and high light efficiency is obtained. The influence of the additive noise on the performance of the correlator is also investigated. 8Comparison of the influences of vegetation stem parameters on hydraulic variables and sediment transport capacity显示文摘The hydraulic variables(Hv)and sediment transport capacity(Tc)of overland flow have changed immensely due to large-scale revegetation.However,research comparing the influences of stem pa-rameters(diameter,cover,and arrangement)on Hv and Tc is limited.The objectives of this study were to explore and compare the influences of stem parameters on Hv and Tc.Data on three treatment groups with varying stem diameters,covers,arrangements,flow discharges and slopes were collected in this study.With increasing stem diameter,Hv and Tc increased;Hv included the Reynolds and Froude numbers,flow velocity(v),shear stress(τ),stream power(Ω),and unit stream power(ω).However,the trend of the Darcy-Weisbach friction coefficient(f)was opposite.Hv and Tc were significantly influenced by stem diameter and cover.The effect of stem diameter on Hv and Tc was greater than the effects of cover and arrangement.Stem cover as a variable could not be used to adequately estimate the Tc when there were various stem diameters.A new exponential equation involving stem cover and stem diameter was demonstrated to be an appropriate predictor of Tc.Stem diameter and arrangement had no obvious influence on the relationship between Tc and v,and v as an indicator could explain the effect of stem parameters on Hv and Tc.This result could illustrate why the variables,including v,were able to predict Tc under vegetation stem and litter cover.Hongli Mu Suhua Fu 2023International Soil and Water Conservation Research2023,11,1:0
9Study of an athermal infrared dual band optical system design containing harmonic diffractive element显示文摘A harmonic diffractive element (HDE) is first successfully introduced to the athermal system of infrared dual band in this paper. In this system, there are only three lens and two materials, silicon and germanium. When the temperature ranges from 70℃ to 100℃ in the dual band, it can simultaneously accomplish the rectification of the longitudinal aberration in the big field of view, as well as the wave front aberration less than 1/4 wavelength. Modulation transfer function of dual band approaches or attains the diffraction limit. The calculation results show that the spec-tral properties of the HDE are between refractive and dif-fractive elements, so we can design a simple dual-band and athermal optical system by selecting the thickness and cen-tral wavelength of the HDE exactly. Compared with a con-ventional refractive optical system, this system not only re-duces the demand for high technical levels, but also has a compact structure, few elements, a high transmittance better aberrations performances and athermal character.
