1The effect of an electric field on the thermomechanical damage of nodular defects in dielectric multilayer coatings irradiated by nanosecond laser pulses显示文摘Thermomechanical damage of nodules in dielectric multilayer coatings that are irradiated by nanosecond laser pulses has been interpreted with respect to mechanical properties and electric-field enhancement.However,the effect of electric-field enhancement in nodular damage,especially the influence of electric-field distributions,has never been directly demonstrated through experimental results,which prevents the achievement of a clear understanding of the damage process of nodular defects.Here,a systematic and comparative study was designed to reveal how electric-field distributions affect the damage behavior of nodules.To obtain reliable results,two series of artificial nodules with different geometries and film absorption characteristics were prepared from monodisperse silica microspheres.After establishing simplified geometrical models of the nodules,the electric-field enhancement was simulated using a three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain code.Then,the damage morphologies of the artificial nodules were directly compared with the simulated electric-field intensity profiles.For both series of nodules,the damage morphologies reproduced our simulated electric-field intensity distributions very well.These results indicated that the electric-field distribution was actually a bridge that connected the nodular mechanical properties to the final thermomechanical damage.Understanding of the damage mechanism of nodules was deepened by obtaining data on the influence of electric-field distributions on the damage behavior of nodules.Xinbin Cheng Jinlong Zhang Tao Ding Zeyong Wei Hongqiang Li Zhanshan Wang 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:20
2Municipal wastewater treatment in China:Development history and future perspectives显示文摘China has the world's largest and still growing wastewater sector and water market,thus its future development will have profound influence on the world.The high-speed development of China's wastewater sector over the past 40 years has forged its global leading treatment capacity and innovation ability.However,many problems were left behind,including underdeveloped sewers and sludge disposal facilities,low sustainability of the treatment processes,questionable wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)effluent discharge standards,and lacking global thinking on harmonious development between wastewater management,human society and the nature.Addressing these challenges calls for fundamental changes in target design,policy and technologies.In this mini-review,we revisit the development history of China's municipal wastewater management and identify the remaining challenges.Also,we highlight the future needs of sustainable development and exploring China's own wastewater management path,and outlook the future from several aspects including targets of wastewater management,policies and technologies,especially the new concept WWTP.Furthermore,we envisage the establishment of new-generation WWTPs with the vision of turning WWTP from a site of pollutant removal into a plant of energy,water and fertilizer recovery and an integrated part urban ecology in China.Jiuhui Qu Hongchen Wang Kaijun Wang Gang Yu Bing Ke Han-Qing Yu Hongqiang Ren Xingcan Zheng Ji Li Wen-Wei Li Song Gao Hui Gong 2019Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2019,13,6:13
3Effect of high-strength ammonia nitrogen acclimation on sludge activity in sequencing batch reactor显示文摘The effect of high-strength ammonia nitrogen acclimation on sludge activity in sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was investigated. Two batch experiments, RUN1 and RUN2, were conducted with the influent ammonia nitrogen concentrations 60 and 500 mg/L, respectively. The sludges inoculated from RUN1 and RUN2 were used to treat a series of influent with ammonia nitrogen concentrations of 59, 232, 368, 604 and 1152 mg/L. It is found that the activated sludge acclimated to higher ammonia nitrogen concentrations revealed higher COD and NH 4 + -N removal efficiencies, and slower DHA decrease. 4Carbon pools and fluxes in the China Seas and adjacent oceans显示文摘The China Seas include the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea, and Bohai Sea. Located off the Northwestern Pacific margin, covering 4700000 km^2 from tropical to northern temperate zones, and including a variety of continental margins/basins and depths, the China Seas provide typical cases for carbon budget studies. The South China Sea being a deep basin and part of the Western Pacific Warm Pool is characterized by oceanic features; the East China Sea with a wide continental shelf, enormous terrestrial discharges and open margins to the West Pacific, is featured by strong cross-shelf materials transport; the Yellow Sea is featured by the confluence of cold and warm waters; and the Bohai Sea is a shallow semiclosed gulf with strong impacts of human activities. Three large rivers, the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Pearl River, flow into the East China Sea, the Bohai Sea, and the South China Sea, respectively. The Kuroshio Current at the outer margin of the Chinese continental shelf is one of the two major western boundary currents of the world oceans and its strength and position directly affect the regional climate of China. These characteristics make the China Seas a typical case of marginal seas to study carbon storage and fluxes. This paper systematically analyzes the literature data on the carbon pools and fluxes of the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea, including different interfaces(land-sea, sea-air, sediment-water, and marginal sea-open ocean) and different ecosystems(mangroves, wetland, seagrass beds, macroalgae mariculture, coral reefs, euphotic zones, and water column). Among the four seas, the Bohai Sea and South China Sea are acting as CO_2 sources, releasing about0.22 and 13.86–33.60 Tg C yr^(-1) into the atmosphere, respectively, whereas the Yellow Sea and East China Sea are acting as carbon sinks, absorbing about 1.15 and 6.92–23.30 Tg C yr^(-1) of atmospheric CO_2, respectively. Overall, if only the CO_2 exchange at the sea-air interface is considered, the Chinese marginal seas appear to be a source of atmospheric CO_2, with a net release of 6.01–9.33 Tg C yr^(-1), mainly from the inputs of rivers and adjacent oceans. The riverine dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) input into the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 5.04, 14.60, and 40.14 Tg C yr^(-1),respectively. The DIC input from adjacent oceans is as high as 144.81 Tg C yr^(-1), significantly exceeding the carbon released from the seas to the atmosphere. In terms of output, the depositional fluxes of organic carbon in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 2.00, 3.60, 7.40, and 5.92 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The fluxes of organic carbon from the East China Sea and South China Sea to the adjacent oceans are 15.25–36.70 and 43.93 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The annual carbon storage of mangroves, wetlands, and seagrass in Chinese coastal waters is 0.36–1.75 Tg C yr^(-1), with a dissolved organic carbon(DOC) output from seagrass beds of up to 0.59 Tg C yr^(-1). Removable organic carbon flux by Chinese macroalgae mariculture account for 0.68 Tg C yr^(-1) and the associated POC depositional and DOC releasing fluxes are 0.14 and 0.82 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. Thus, in total, the annual output of organic carbon, which is mainly DOC, in the China Seas is 81.72–104.56 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the East China Sea to the adjacent oceans is 15.00–35.00 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the South China Sea is 31.39 Tg C yr^(-1). 6Vibration target detection and vibration parameters estimation based on the DPCA technique in dual-channel SAR显示文摘This paper proposes a new method based on the displaced phase center antenna(DPCA) technique for the detection and parameters estimation of vibration target in dual-channel synthetic aperture radar(SAR).The echo model of vibration target is established in dual-channel SAR according to the equivalent phase center principle.By accumulating the DPCA signal amplitude in the azimuth direction,we realize the vibration target detection in clutter and noise background.Through the analysis of DPCA signal amplitude and phase characteristics of vibration target,we then convert the vibration parameters estimation to estimation of a signal with the form of absolute value of a sine function,and the converting conditions is also given.Accordingly,an algorithm combining the Fourier transform with least squares is proposed for estimation.The simulation results show that the algorithm can estimate each vibration parameter precisely at a low signal-to-noise ratio.CHEN YingBin DENG Bin WANG HongQiang QIN YuLiang DING JinCan 2012Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,10:8
7Fabrication and characterization of laminated Ti-(TiB + La_2O_3)/Ti composite显示文摘The incorporation of ceramic particulate reinforcements into titanium alloys can improve the specific strength and specific stiffness,while inevitably reduce the plasticity and ductility.In this study,in situ synthesized multilayer Ti-(TiB +La_2O_3)/Ti composite was designed by learning from the microstructure of nature biological materials with excellent mechanical properties.The Ti-(TiB + La_2O_3)/Ti composite with unique characteristic of laminated structure was prepared by combined powder metallurgy and hot rolling.The method has the synthesize advantages with in-situ reaction of Ti and LaB_6 at high temperature and controllability of reinforcements size and constituent phases in composites.The result shows that the pores in the as sintered laminated structure composite completely disappeared after hot rolling at 1050℃.The agglomerated reinforcement particles were well dispersed and distributed uniformly along the rolling direction.The thickness of pure Ti layer and(TiB+La_2O_3)/Ti composite layer decreased from 1 mm to about 200 μm.Meanwhile,the grains size was refined obviously after rolling deformation.The room temperature tensile test indicates that the elongation of the laminated Ti-(TiB + La_2O_3)/Ti composite improved from 13%to 17%in comparison with the uniform(TiB + La_2O_3)/Ti composite,while the tensile strength had little change.It provides theoretical and experimental basis for fabricating the novel high performance laminated Ti-(TiB + La_2O_3)/Ti composites.Yuanfei Han Hongqiang Duan Weijie Lu Liqiang Wang Di Zhang 2015Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2015,25,5:8
8Directly patterned substrate-free plasmonic “nanograter” structures with unusual Fano resonances显示文摘The application of three-dimensional(3D)plasmonic nanostructures as metamaterials(MMs),nano-antennas,and other devices faces challenges in producing metallic nanostructures with easily definable orientations,sophisticated shapes,and smooth surfaces that are operational in the optical regime and beyond.Here,we demonstrate that complex 3D nanostructures can be readily achieved with focused-ion-beam irradiation-induced folding and examine the optical characteristics of plasmonic“nanograter”structures that are composed of free-standing Au films.These 3D nanostructures exhibit interesting 3D hybridization in current flows and exhibit unusual and well-scalable Fano resonances at wavelengths ranging from 1.6 to 6.4 mm.Upon the introduction of liquids of various refractive indices to the structures,a strong dependence of the Fano resonance is observed,with spectral sensitivities of 1400 nm and 2040 nm per refractive index unit under figures of merit of 35.0 and 12.5,respectively,for low-order and high-order resonance in the near-infrared region.This work indicates the exciting,increasing relevance of similarly constructed 3D free-standing nanostructures in the research and development of photonics and MMs.Ajuan Cui Zhe Liu Jiafang Li Tiehan H Shen Xiaoxiang Xia Zhiyuan Li Zhijie Gong Hongqiang Li Benli Wang Junjie Li Haifang Yang Wuxia Li Changzhi Gu 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:8
9Modeling assessment for ammonium nitrogen recovery from wastewater by chemical precipitation显示文摘Chemical precipitation to form magnesium ammonium phosphate(MAP) is an effective technology for recovering ammonium nitrogen(NH4+-N).In the present research,we investigated the thermodynamic modeling of the PHREEQC program for NH4+-N recovery to evaluate the effect of reaction factors on MAP precipitation.The case study of NH4+-N recovery from coking wastewater was conducted to provide a comparison.Response surface methodology(RSM) was applied to assist in understanding the relative significance of reaction factors and the interactive effects of solution conditions.Thermodynamic modeling indicated that the saturation index(SI) of MAP followed a polynomial function of pH.The SI of MAP increased logarithmically with the Mg2+/NH4+ molar ratio(Mg/N) and the initial NH4+-N concentration(CN),respectively,while it decreased with an increase in Ca2+/NH4+ and CO32?/NH4+ molar ratios(Ca/N and CO32?/N),respectively.The trends for NH4+-N removal at different pH and Mg/N levels were similar to the thermodynamic modeling predictions.The RSM analysis indicated that the factors including pH,Mg/N,CN,Ca/N,(Mg/N)×(CO32?/N),(pH)2,(Mg/N)2,and(CN)2 were significant.Response surface plots were useful for understanding the interaction effects on NH4+-N recovery.Tao Zhang Qiucheng Li Lili Ding Hongqiang Ren Ke Xu Yonggang Wu Dong Sheng 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6:8
10Inhibition effect of magnetic field on nitrous oxide emission from sequencing batch reactor treating domestic wastewater at low temperature显示文摘This study aims to investigate the effect of a magnetic field on nitrous oxide(N2O)emission from a sequencing batch reactor treating low-strength domestic wastewater at low temperature(10℃).After running for 124 days in parallel,results indicated that the conversion rate of N2O for a magnetic field-sequencing batch reactor(MF-SBR)decreased by34.3%compared to that of a conventional SBR(C-SBR).Meanwhile,the removal efficiencies for total nitrogen(TN)and ammonia nitrogen(NH4-N)of the MF-SBR were 22.4%and 39.5%higher than those of the C-SBR.High-throughput sequencing revealed that the abundances of AOB(Nitrosomonas),NOB(Nitrospira)and denitrifiers(Zoogloea),which could reduce N2O to N2,were promoted significantly in the MF-SBR.Enzyme activities(Nir)and gene abundances(nos Z nir S and nir K)for denitrification in the MF-SBR were also notably higher compared to C-SBR.Our study shows that application of a magnetic field is a useful approach for inhibiting the generation of N2O and promoting the nitrogen removal efficiency by affecting the microbial characteristics of sludge in an SBR treating domestic wastewater at low temperature.Dan Xu Hongmin Ji Hongqiang Ren Jinju Geng Kan Li Ke Xu 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:7
11Highly sensitive detection of melamine based on reversed phase liquid chromatography mass spectrometry显示文摘In this work, we developed a highly sensitive method to detect melamine based on reversed phase liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. A mass spectrometry compatible ion pair, heptafluorobu-tyric acid(HFBA), was used to separate melamine by reversed phase liquid chromatography prior to electrospray mass spectrometry. The incorporation of isotope internal standard and multiple reaction monitoring improved the accuracy and linearity of quantification. Based on this strategy, the method limit of quantification was 0.1 ng/g. The limits of quantification were 8 ng/g for liquid milk and 15 ng/g for dry milk powder. 12On developing data-driven turbulence model for DG solution of RANS显示文摘High-order Discontinuous Galerkin(DG) methods have been receiving more and more attentions in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) because of their high-accuracy property. However, it is still a challenge to obtain converged solution rapidly when solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes(RANS) equations since the turbulence models significantly increase the nonlinearity of discretization system. The overall goal of this research is to develop an Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs) model with low complexity acting as an algebraic turbulence model to estimate the turbulence eddy viscosity for RANS. The ANN turbulence model is off-line trained using the training data generated by the widely used Spalart–Allmaras(SA) turbulence model before the Optimal Brain Surgeon(OBS) is employed to determine the relevancy of input features.Using the selected relevant features, a fully connected ANN model is constructed. The performance of the developed ANN model is numerically tested in the framework of DG for RANS, where the‘‘DG+ANN' method provides robust and steady convergence compared to the ‘‘DG+SA' method. 13Seasonal changes of soil erosion and its spatial distribution on a long gentle hillslope in the Chinese Mollisol region显示文摘Understanding seasonal soil erosion and deposition rates and their spatial distribution along sloping farmlands are necessary for erosion prediction technology and implementing effective soil conservation practices.To date seasonal change of soil erosion and soil redistribution on long gentle hillsiopes are not fully quantified due to the variable erosive forces in different seasons.A multi-tracer method using rare earth elements(REE)was employed to discriminate seasonal changes of soil erosion and its spatial distribution on a sloping farmland driven by snowmelt runoff,wind force and rainfall-runoff.A long-slope runoff plot with 5 m wide and 320 m long located in the typical Mollisol region of China was divided into eight segments,each of which was 40 m long and tagged with one of eight REE oxides.The spot method of a partial-area tagging scheme was employed and a grid-based layout was used for REE application.Results showed that annual soil erosion rate was 3251.01 km^(-2)for the whole runoff plot,in which snowmelt runoff erosion contributed 537.3 t km^(-2),wind erosion 363.11 km-2 and rainfall-runoff erosion 2350.6 t km^(-2).Surface runoff is the main external erosive force of hillslope soil erosion,accounting for 88.8%of the total annual soil loss.Furthermore,for the eight slope segments of the 320-m long hillslope,the sediment transport ratios of each slope segment caused by snowmelt runoff and rainfall-runoff erosion were more than 23.5%and 34.7%,respectively.The results will enrich the understanding of seasonal soil erosion on long hillsiopes.Lei Wang Fenli Zheng Gang Liu Xunchang J.Zhang Glenn V.Wilson Hongqiang Shi Xujun Liu 2021International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,3:6
14Isolation and oral immunogenicity assessment of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus NH-TA2020 strain:One of the predominant strains circulating in China from 2017 to 2021显示文摘Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED)caused by porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV)is one of the most devastating diseases in the global pig industry due to its high mortality rate in piglets.Maternal vaccines can effectively enhance the gut-mammary gland-secretory IgA axis to boost lactogenic immunity and passive protection of nursing piglets against PEDV challenge.From 2017 to 2021,we collected 882 diarrhea samples from 303 farms in China to investigate the epidemiology of PEDV.The result showed that about 52.15%(158/303)of the farms were positive for PEDV with an overall detection rate of 63.95%(564/882)of the samples.The S1 fragments of S gene from 104 strains were sequenced for the phylogenetic analysis.A total of 71 PEDV strains(68.27%)sequenced in this study were clustered into the predominant G2c subgroup,while the newly-defined G2d strains(9.62%)were identified in three provinces of China.The NH-TA2020 strain of G2c subgroup was isolated and cultured,and its infection to piglets caused watery diarrhea within 24 h,indicating its strong pathogenicity.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 strain to pregnant gilts stimulated high levels of IgA antibody in colostrum.The piglets fed by the gilts above were challenged with NH-TA2020 strain or CH-HeB-RY-2020 strain from G2d subgroup,and the clinical symptoms and virus shedding were significantly reduced compared to the mock group.Our findings suggest that G2c subgroup is the predominant branch circulating in China from 2017 to 2021.Oral administration of NH-TA2020 enhances maternal IgA and lactogenic immune responses,which confer protection against the homologous and emerging G2d PEDV strains challenges in neonates.Xiaowen Li Yang Li Jiapei Huang Yali Yao Wenying Zhao Yunjing Zhang Jie Qing Jing Ren Zhong Yan Zewei Wang Xiaofang Hu Duli Kang Hongqiang Liu Zhichun Yan 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,5:6

17The stochastic sliding mode variable structure guidance laws based on optimal control theory显示文摘A stochastic sliding-mode variable structure guidance law involving optimal control theory is presented for the missile target intercept model, in which state noise, uncertain system parameters, target movement and measured noise are considered. This guidance law synthesizes the merits of optimal guidance law with line-of-sight rate convergence and sliding-mode guidance law with strong robustness. Through theoretic analysis, it is proved that the sliding mode hyperplane is sub-achievable in the closed loop system. 19A detached petal disc assay and virus-induced gene silencing facilitate the study of Botrytis cinerea resistance in rose flowers显示文摘Fresh-cut roses(Rosa hybrida)are one of the most important ornamental crops worldwide,with annual trade in the billions of dollars.Gray mold disease caused by the pathogen Botrytis cinerea is the most serious fungal threat to cut roses,causing extensive postharvest losses.In this study,we optimized a detached petal disc assay(DPDA)for artificial B.cinerea inoculation and quantification of disease symptoms in rose petals.Furthermore,as the identification of rose genes involved in B.cinerea resistance could provide useful genetic and genomic resources,we devised a virusinduced gene silencing(VIGS)procedure for the functional analysis of B.cinerea resistance genes in rose petals.We used RhPR10.1 as a reporter of silencing efficiency and found that the rose cultivar‘Samantha’showed the greatest decrease in RhPR10.1 expression among the cultivars tested.To determine whether jasmonic acid and ethylene are required for B.cinerea resistance in rose petals,we used VIGS to silence the expression of RhLOX5 and RhEIN3(encoding a jasmonic acid biosynthesis pathway protein and an ethylene regulatory protein,respectively)and found that petal susceptibility to B.cinerea was affected.Finally,a VIGS screen of B.cinerea-induced rose transcription factors demonstrated the potential benefits of this method for the high-throughput identification of gene function in B.cinerea resistance.Collectively,our data show that the combination of the DPDA and VIGS is a reliable and highthroughput method for studying B.cinerea resistance in rose.Xiaoqian Cao Huijun Yan Xintong Liu Dandan Li Mengjie Sui Jie Wu Hongqiang Yu Zhao Zhang 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:5
20Paleomagnetic study on orogenic belt:An example from Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks,Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘We report paleomagnetic results for Early Cretaceous lava flows collected from the Suhongtu area of Inner Mongolia, the middle part of the Tianshan-Mongolia Fold Belt (TMFB). Rock-magnetic experiments for different lava flows indicate that the main magnetic mineral is pseudo-single-domain (PSD) magnetite. The characteristic high-temperature remanence com- ponent is isolated by thermal demagnetization temperature steps between 300°C and 585'C, which yields a mean direction of D = 23.6°, I=56.0° with α 95 = 2.3°. We interpret this high-temperature remanence component as primary magnetization based mainly upon the petrographic analysis, which shows that the shape of magnetite crystal is relatively rounded square or polygon without internal reflection and deuterogenous phenomenon. The correspond- ing pole of the high-temperature remanence component is at 71.1°N, 200.5°E with A 95 = 2.7°.
