1Role of dietary polyphenols in the management of peptic ulcer显示文摘Peptic ulcer disease is a multifactorial and complex disease involving gastric and duodenal ulcers.Despite medical advances,the management of peptic ulcer and its complications remains a challenge,with high morbidity and death rates for the disease.An accumulating body of evidence suggests that,among a broad reach of natural molecules,dietary polyphenols with multiple biological mechanisms of action play a pivotal part in the management of gastric and duodenal ulcers.The current review confirmed that dietary polyphenols possess protective and therapeutic potential in peptic ulcer mediated by:improving cytoprotection,re-epithelialization,neovascularization,and angiogenesis; up-regulating tissue growth factors and prostaglandins; down-regulating anti-angiogenic factors; enhancing endothelial nitric oxide synthasederived NO; suppressing oxidative mucosal damage; amplifying antioxidant performance,antacid,and antisecretory activity; increasing endogenous mucosal defensive agents; and blocking Helicobacter pylori colonization associated gastric morphological changes and gastroduodenal inflammation and ulceration.In addition,anti-inflammatory activity due to downregulation of proinflammatory cytokines and cellular and int e r c e llular adhe s ion age nt s,s uppr e s s ing leukocyte-endothelium interaction,inhibiting nuclear signaling pathways of inflammatory process,and modulating intracellular transduction and transcription pathways have key roles in the anti-ulcer action of dietary polyphenols.In conclusion,administration of a significant amount of dietary polyphenols in the human diet or as part of dietary supplementation along with conventional treatment can result in perfect security and treatment of peptic ulcer.Further welldesigned preclinical and clinical tests are recommended in order to recognize higher levels of evidence for the confirmation of bioefficacy and safety of dietary polyphenols in the management of peptic ulcer.Mohammad Hosein Farzaei Mohammad Abdollahi Roja Rahimi 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,21:34
2Protective effect of essential oil of Pistacia atlantica Desf. on peptic ulcer: role of α-pinene显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of Pistacia atlantica Desf. oleoresin essential oil on peptic ulcer(PU) and its antibacterial effect on metronidazole-resistant Helicobacter pylori, as well as chemi-cal composition of the essential oil.METHODS: The essential oil was standardized using gas chromatography mass spectrometry(GC/MS) analysis. Acute toxicity of the essential oil was assessed in animal model. In vitro anti-Helicobacter pylori activity was performed through disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration method. For gastroprotective assay, rats received Pistacia atlantica Desf. essential oil(25, 50 and 100 mg/kg orally) 1 h before induction of ulcer by ethanol.Macroscopic(ulcer index and protection rate) and microscopic examination were performed.RESULTS: The GC/MS analysis of the essential oil led to the identification of twenty constituents andα-pinene is predominant constituent. The essential oil was safe up to 2000 mg/kg. All Helicobacter pylori strains were susceptible to the essential oil and the MIC ranged from 275 to 1100 μg/m L. The ulcer index for treated groups was significantly reduced compared to control(P < 0.001) with EC50 value of 12.32 mg/kg. 3Parsley: a review of ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry and biological activities显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To summarize comprehensive information concerning ethnomedicinal uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacological activities of parsley. METHODS: Databases including PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science were searched for studies focusing on the ethnomedicinal use, phytochemical compounds and biological and pharmacological activities of parsley. Data were collected from 1966 to 2013. The search terms were: 'Parsley' or 'Petroselinum crispum' or 'Petroseli-num hortence '. RESULTS: Parsley has been used as carminative, gastro tonic, diuretic, antiseptic of urinary tract, anti-urolithiasis, anti-dote and anti-inflammatory and for the treatment of amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, gastrointestinal disorder, hypertension, cardiac disease, urinary disease, otitis, sniffle, diabetes and also various dermal disease in traditional and folklore medicines. Phenolic compounds and flavonoids particularly apigenin, apiin and 6'-Acetylapiin; essential oil mainly myristicin and apiol; and also coumarins are the active compounds identified in Petroselinum crispum. Wide range of pharmacological activity including antioxidant, hepatoprotective, brain protective, anti-diabetic, analgesic, spasmolytic, immunosuppressant, anti-platelet, gastroprotective, cytoprotective, laxative, estrogenic, diuretic, hypotensive, antibacterial and antifungal activities have been exhibited for this plant in modern medicine. 4Towards development of enhanced fully-Lagrangian mesh-free computational methods for fluid-structure interaction显示文摘Simulation of incompressible fluid flow-elastic structure interactions is targeted by using fully-Lagrangian mesh-free computational methods. A projection-based fluid model(moving particle semi-implicit(MPS)) is coupled with either a Newtonian or a Hamiltonian Lagrangian structure model(MPS or HMPS) in a mathematically-physically consistent manner. The fluid model is founded on the solution of Navier-Stokes and continuity equations. The structure models are configured either in the framework of Newtonian mechanics on the basis of conservation of linear and angular momenta, or Hamiltonian mechanics on the basis of variational principle for incompressible elastodynamics. A set of enhanced schemes are incorporated for projection-based fluid model(Enhanced MPS), thus, the developed coupled solvers for fluid structure interaction(FSI) are referred to as Enhanced MPS-MPS and Enhanced MPS-HMPS. Besides, two smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)-based FSI solvers, being developed by the authors, are considered and their potential applicability and comparable performance are briefly discussed in comparison with MPS-based FSI solvers. The SPH-based FSI solvers are established through coupling of projection-based incompressible SPH(ISPH) fluid model and SPH-based Newtonian/Hamiltonian structure models, leading to Enhanced ISPH-SPH and Enhanced ISPH-HSPH. 5Geochemistry of Carboniferous Sandstones (Sardar Formation), East-Central Iran: Implication for Provenance and Tectonic Setting显示文摘Geochemical analysis of sandstones from the Sardar Formation (from two stratigraphic successions) in east-central Iran were used for identification of geochemical characterization of sandstones, provenance and tectonic setting. Sandstones in the two lithostratigraphic successions have similar chemical compositions suggesting a common provenance. Bulk-rock geochemistry analysis of Carboniferous sandstones from Sardar Formation indicates that they are mainly quartz dominated and are classified as quartzarenites, sublitharenites and subarkoses, derived from acid igneous to intermediate igneous rocks. Discrimination function analysis indicates that the sandstones of Sardar Formation were derived from quartzose sedimentary provenance in a recycled orogenic setting. Also, major and trace elements in sandstones of Sardar Formation (e.g., K 2 O/Na 2 O vs. SiO 2 ) indicate deposition in a stable passive continental margin (PM). 6Cholestatic liver diseases:An era of emerging therapies显示文摘Recently the field of cholestasis has expanded enormously reflecting an improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying bile secretion and its perturbation in chronic cholestatic disease. Novel anti-cholestatic therapeutic options have been developed for patients not favorably responding to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), the current standard treatment for cholestatic liver disease. Important novel treatment targets now also include nuclear receptors involved in bile acid (BA) homoeostasis like farnesoid X receptor and G proteincoupled receptors e.g., the G-protein-coupled BA receptor “transmembrane G coupled receptor 5”. Fibroblast growth factor-19 and enterohepatic BA transporters also deserve attention as additional drug targets as does the potential treatment agent norUDCA. 8Design,development and evaluation of an online grading system for peeled pistachios equipped with machine vision technology and support vector machine显示文摘In this study,an intelligent system based on combined machine vision(MV)and Support Vector Machine(SVM)was developed for sorting of peeled pistachio kernels and shells.The system was composed of conveyor belt,lighting box,camera,processing unit and sorting unit.A color CCD camera was used to capture images.The images were digitalized by a capture card and transferred to a personal computer for further analysis.Initially,images were converted from RGB color space to HSV color ones.For segmentation of the acquired images,H-component in the HSV color space and Otsu thresholding method were applied.A feature vector containing 30 color features was extracted from the captured images.A feature selection method based on sensitivity analysis was carried out to select superior features.The selected features were presented to SVM classifier.Various SVM models having a different kernel function were developed and tested.The SVM model having cubic polynomial kernel function and 38 support vectors achieved the best accuracy(99.17%)and then was selected to use in online decision-making unit of the system.By launching the online system,it was found that limiting factors of the system capacity were related to the hardware parts of the system(conveyor belt and pneumatic valves used in the sorting unit).The limiting factors led to a distance of 8 mm between the samples.The overall accuracy and capacity of the sorter were obtained 94.33% and 22.74 kg/h,respectively.Hosein Nouri-Ahmadabadi Mahmoud Omid Seyed Saeid Mohtasebi Mahmoud Soltani Firouz 2017Information Processing in Agriculture2017,4,4:5
9Thermodynamic and Adsorption Behaviour of Medicinal Nitramine as a Corrosion Inhibitor for AISI Steel Alloy in HCl Solution显示文摘The inhibition ability of 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole(Nitramine) against the corrosion of AISI steel 4130 in 1 mol/L HCl solution was evaluated by polarization,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and chronoamperometry.Polarization studies indicated that nitramine retards both the cathodic and anodic reactions through chemical adsorption and blocks the active corrosion sites.The adsorption of this compound obeyed the Temkin's adsorption isotherm.The inhibition efficiency was increased with inhibitor concentration as well as temperature.EIS data were analysed by equivalent circuit model shows that as the inhibitor concentration increased the charge transfer resistance of steel increased whilst double layer capacitance decreased.Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy,enthalpy,entropy and free energy of activation and adsorption were calculated.Atomic force microscopy and optical microscopy were used to study the steel surface with and without inhibitor.Ali Reza Hosein Zadeh Iman Danaee Mohamad Hosein Maddahy 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,9:5
10Medicinal properties of Peganum harmala L. in traditional Iranian medicine and modern phytotherapy: a review显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To review the pharmacological activities of Peganum harmala L.(P. harmala, Nitrariaceae) in traditional Iranian medicine(TIM) and modern phytotherapy.METHODS: Opinions of TIM and modern phytotherapy about safety and acceptable dosage of this plant are discussed. Various medical properties of P.harmala were collected from important TIM references and added to scientific reports derived from modern medical databases like Pub Med, Scirus, Science Direct and Scopus.RESULTS: The main medicinal part of the plant is the seed. In TIM resources, this plant possesses various Pharmacological activities such as carminative,galactagogue, diuretic, emmenagogue, antithrom-botic and analgesic. In modern phytotherapy, P. harmala demonstrated numerous medicinal effects including cardiovascular, neurologic, antimicrobial,insecticidal, antineoplasmic, antiproliferative, gastrointestinal and antidiabetic effects. Adverse events such as neuro-sensorial symptoms, visual hallucination, bradycardia, hypotension, agitation,tremors, ataxia, abortion and vomiting cause people to use this plant cautiously. P. harmala is contraindicated during pregnancy, due to its abortive and mutagenic activities. Because of increasing the expression of CYP1A2, 2C19, and 3A4 and inhibition of monoamine oxidase, the pharmacokinetic parameters of drugs which are mainly metabolized by these enzymes may be affected by P. harmala.CONCLUSION: The medicinal properties declared for this plant in TIM are compared with those showed in modern phytotherapy. Some of the TIM properties were confirmed in modern phytotherapy like emetic and analgesic activities and some have not been evaluated in modern phytotherapy such as its therapeutic effects on paralysis, epilepsy and numbness. 11调节基于老鼠样品改进人的间充质的干细胞的扩大显示文摘 AIM: To improve the isolation and expansion of human marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) based on rat samples. METHODS: Based on the fact that rat MSCs are relatively easy to obtain from a small aspirate, bone marrow-derived MSCs from rat were cultured and characterized to set up the different protocols used in this study. Then, accordingly, almost the same protocols were performed on human healthy bone marrow samples, after obtaining approval of the ethics committee and gaining informed consent. We used different protocols and culture conditions, including the type of basal media and the culture composition. The MSCs were characterized by immunophenotyping and differentiation. RESULTS: There was no difference in morphology and proliferation capacity between different culture media at the first passage. During the 5-7th passages, the cells gradually lost their morphology and proliferation potential on Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) high glucose and α modified Eagle’s medium. Although the cells expanded rapidly for up to 10 passages on DMEM low glucose containing 10% to 15% fetal calf serum (FCS), their proliferation was arrested without change in morphology and differentiation capacity at the third passage on 5% FCS. Flow cytometric analysis and functional tests confirmed that more than 90% of marrow cells which were isolated and expanded by our selective protocols were MSCs. 12Tribological Properties of Nanostructured Al/Al_(12)(Fe,V)_3Si Alloys显示文摘Tribological behavior of nanostructured pure Al and Al–Al12(Fe,V)3Si alloys containing 27(FVS0812) and 37(FVS1212) vol% of Al12(Fe,V)3Si precipitates was investigated. All samples were prepared using mechanical alloying followed by hot pressing. Wear tests were performed at room temperature using a pin-on-disk machine. Results showed that the presence of Al12(Fe,V)3Si precipitates increases the wear resistance of nanostructured Al, and the wear resistance increases with increasing the Al12(Fe,V)3Si content. Scanning electron microscopy images of worn surfaces and wear debris demonstrated that abrasion and adhesion are the governing wear mechanisms for the nanostructured FVS0812 alloy at 2 and 5 N normal loads, whereas for the nanostructured FVS1212 alloy, the dominant wear mechanism is abrasion at these loads. A mechanically mixed layer(MML) containing Fe and O was formed on the worn surfaces of FVS0812 and FVS1212 samples at 10 N normal load. Formation and delamination of MML controls the wear behavior of these samples at the normal load of 10 N. 14The use of Chinese herbal drugs in Islamic medicine显示文摘This paper investigates some of the ways that Chinese medicine has been transferred to the Western world and to Islamic territories. During the Golden Age of Islam(8th to 13 th century CE), the herbal drug trade promoted signifi cant commercial and scientifi c exchange between China and the Muslim world. Chinese herbal drugs have been described by medieval Muslim medical scholars such as Tabari(870 CE), Rhazes(925 CE), Haly Abbas(982 CE), Avicenna(1037 CE) and Jurjani(1137 CE). The term al-sin(the Arabic word for China) is used 46 times in Avicenna's Canon of Medicine in reference to herbal drugs imported from China. Cinnamon(dar sini; 'Chinese herb'), wild ginger(asaron), rhubarb(rivand-e sini), nutmeg(basbasa), incense tree wood(ood), cubeb(kababe) and sandalwood(sandal) were the most frequently mentioned Chinese herbs in Islamic medical books. There are also multiple similarities between the clinical uses of these herbs in both medical systems. 15An axisymmetric model for draft tube flow at partial load显示文摘A new Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) turbulence model is developed in order to correctly predict the mean flow field in a draft tube operating under partial load using 2-D axisymmetric simulations. It is shown that although 2-D axisymmetric simulations cannot model the 3-D unsteady features of the vortex rope, they can give the average location of the vortex rope in the draft tube. Nevertheless, RANS simulations underpredict the turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) production and diffusion near the center of the draft tube where the vortex rope forms, resulting in incorrect calculation of TKE profiles and, hence, poor prediction of the axial velocity. Based on this observation, a new k-ε turbulence RANS model taking into account the extra production and diffusion of TKE due to coherent structures associated with the vortex rope formation is developed. The new model can successfully predict the mean flow velocity with significant improvements in comparison with the realizable k-ε model. This is attributed to better prediction of TKE production and diffusion by the new model in the draft tube under partial load. 16Reserve estimation of the high phosphorous stockpile at the Choghart iron mine of Iran using geostatistical modeling显示文摘An attempt to estimate the reserves in the High Phosphorous stockpile (HP) at the Choghart Iron mine of Iran was car-ried out using geostatistical modeling. Grade and tonnage estimates of ore stockpiles can help convert them into a valuable ore re-serve. This is valuable in consideration of increasing metal demand, and the depletion of in situ ore reserves, around the world. Estimation of reserves in stockpiles is difficult partly because of geological and grade discontinuities created during the dumping of the ore piles. Data input for the HP stockpile at Choghart was performed based upon pre-existing information gathered during ex-traction from the various mining benches. After establishing the input data files the reserve estimates were found using geostatisti-cal methods aided by the international mining software SURPAC. The stockpile was divided in to three domains and the reserves in each domain were estimated separately. A grade block model was used to compute the reserve. Fe% and P% were estimated using the Ordinary Kriging method. 19Gene-diet interaction of FTO-rs9939609 gene variant and hypocaloric diet on glycemic control in overweight and obese adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials显示文摘Background:The hypocaloric diets improve glycemic status in obese individuals,but the response to hypocaloric diets in fat mass and obesity-associated gene(FTO)-rs9939609 gene variant is unknown.This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the gene-diet interaction of FTO-rs9939609 gene variant and hypocaloric diets on glycemic control in overweight and obese adults.Methods:Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,PubMed,ISI Web of Science,Embase,Scopus,and Google scholar were searched up to December 2018,for relevant clinical trials.Mean changes in fasting blood sugar(FBS),serum insulin,and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)were extracted.Results:The pooled analysis of nine studies showed that there was no significant difference between AA/AT and TT genotypes in FBS(weighted mean difference[WMD]=0.01,95%confidence interval[CI]:-1.08,1.10,P=0.984)and serum insulin(WMD=0.20,95%CI:-0.85,1.26;P=0.707)after intervention hypocaloric diets.The overweight/obese participants in AA/AT group showed the greatest reduction in HOMA-IR compared with TT genotype following intervention,and this difference was not statistically significant(WMD=-0.38,95%CI:-0.94,0.16,P=0.167).Conclusion:This meta-analysis suggests that there was no significant difference between AA/AT and TT genotypes of FTO-rs9939609 on FBS,serum insulin level,and insulin resistance in response to hypocaloric diets.Karim Parastouei Hosein Rostami Amirhossein Ahmadi Ramezani Hamidreza Tavakoli Meysam Alipour 2020Chinese Medical Journal2020,,3:2
20Autonomic laterality in caloric vestibular stimulation显示文摘BACKGROUND Caloric stimulation of the vestibular system is associated with autonomic response.The lateralization in the nervous system activities also involves the autonomic nervous system.AIM To compare the effect of the right and left ear caloric test on the cardiac sympathovagal tone in healthy persons.METHODS This self-control study was conducted on 12 healthy male volunteers.The minimal ice water caloric test was applied for vestibular stimulation.This was done by irrigating 1 milliliter of 4±2°C ice water into the external ear canal in 1 s.In each experiment,only one ear was stimulated.For each ear,the pessimum position was considered as sham control and the optimum position was set as caloric vestibular stimulation of horizontal semicircular channel.The order of right or left caloric vestibular stimulation and the sequence of optimum or pessimum head position in each set were random.The recovery time between each calorie test was 5 min.The short-term heart rate variability(HRV)was used for cardiac sympathovagal tone metrics.All variables were compared using the analysis of variance.RESULTS After caloric vestibular stimulation,the short-term time-domain and frequencydomain HRV indices as well as,the systolic and the diastolic arterial blood pressure,the respiratory rate and the respiratory amplitude,had no significant changes.These negative results were similar in the right and the left sides.Nystagmus duration of left caloric vestibular stimulations in the optimum and the pessimum positions had significant differences(e.g.,72.14±39.06 vs 45.35±35.65,P<0.01).Nystagmus duration of right caloric vestibular stimulations in the optimum and the pessimum positions had also significant differences(e.g.,86.42±67.20 vs 50.71±29.73,P<0.01).The time of the start of the nystagmus following caloric vestibular stimulation had no differences in both sides and both positions.CONCLUSION Minimal ice water caloric stimulation of the right and left vestibular system did not affect the cardiac sympathovagal balance according to HRV indices.Mohammadreza Aghababaei Ziarati Mohammad Hosein Taziki Seyed Mehran Hosseini 2020World Journal of Cardiology2020,12,4:2
