| 1 | 血浆游离DNA水平增高可作为预测重型颅脑损伤患者死亡率的独立指标(英文)显示文摘Trauma is the leading cause of death under 45 years worldwide and up to 50% of trauma fatalities are due to brain injury.Prediction of outcome is one of the major problems associated with severe TBI and research efforts have focused on the investigation of biomarkers with prognostic value following TBI. Therefore,our aim was to investigate whether cell-free DNA concentrations correlated to short-term primary outcome( survivor or death) and GCS scores following severe TBI. A total of 188 victims of severe TBI were enrolled in this prospective study,outcome variables comprised: survival and neurological assessment using the GCS at ICU discharge. Control blood samples were obtained from 25 healthy volunteers. Peripheral venous blood was collected at admission in the ICU. Plasma DNA was measured using a real-time quantitative PCR assay for the β-globin gene. There was correlation between higher DNA levels and both fatal outcome and lower hospital admission GCS scores. Plasma DNA concentrations at the chosen cut- off point( ≥171,381 kilogenomesequivalents /L) predicted mortality with a specificity of 90% and a sensitivity of 43%. Logistic regression analysis showed that elevated plasma DNA levels were independently associated with death( P < 0. 001). | 4 | Preliminary Study to Identify Criterion for Quench Crack Prevention by Computer Simulation显示文摘A criterion for preventing quench cracks has not been established although much research has been conducted in this field. A few predictions of cracking have been recently reported using simulated results of heat treatment processes. However, these results were insufficient to predict crack generation clearly because the mechanism relates not only to stress distributions in the parts but also to material characteristics. Systematic studies by the combination of experiment and simulation are therefore required to reliably identify a criterion for crack prevention by computer simulation. As a preliminary work before starting the full-scale research, a review of quench cracking research was conducted and existing test methods were classified. Several test results for cylindrical specimens were simulated for considering a cause of the crack generation. | 5 | Evolution of Invertebrate Deuterostomes and Hox/ParaHox Genes显示文摘Transcription factors encoded by Antennapedia-class homeobox genes play crucial roles in controlling development of animals, and are often found clustered in animal genomes.The Hox and ParaHox gene clusters have been regarded as evolutionary sisters and evolved from a putative common ancestral gene complex, the ProtoHox cluster, prior to the divergence of the Cnidaria and Bilateria (bilaterally symmetrical animals).The Deuterostomia is a monophyletic group of animals that belongs to the Bilateria,and a sister group to the Protostomia.The deuterostomes include the vertebrates(to which we belong),invertebrate chordates,hemichordates,echinoderms and possibly xenoturbellids,as well as acoelomorphs.The studies of Hox and ParaHox genes provide insights into the origin and subsequent evolution of the bilaterian animals.Recently,it becomes apparent that among the Hox and ParaHox genes,there are significant variations in organization on the chromosome,expression pattern,and function.In this review,focusing on invertebrate deuterostomes,I first summarize recent findings about Hox and ParaHox genes.Next,citing unsolved issues,I try to provide clues that might allow us to reconstruct the common ancestor of deuterostomes,as well as understand the roles of Hox and ParaHox genes in the development and evolution of deuterostomes. | Tetsuro Ikuta | 2011 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2011,9,3: | 2 |
| 6 | Effectiveness of impedance monitoring during radiofrequency ablation for predicting popping显示文摘AIM:To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of impedance monitoring for predicting popping during radiofrequency ablation(RFA) using internally cooled electrodes.METHODS:We reviewed 140 patients(94 males,46 females;age range 73.0 ± 11.1 year) who underwent RFA between February 2006 and November 2008 with a modified protocol using a limited power delivery rather than a conventional one to avoid popping.All the patients provided their written informed consent,and the study was approved by the institutional review board.Intraprocedural impedances were measured for the study subjects,and the tumors were classified into three types according to the characteristics of their impedance curves:increasing,flat,or decreasing.The tumors were further sorted into seven subtypes(A-G) depending on the curvature of the impedance curve' s increase or decrease.Relative popping rates were determined for the three types and seven subtypes.A chi-square test was performed to estimate statistical significance.RESULTS:A total of 148 nodules treated by RFA were analyzed.The study samples included 132 nodules of hepatocellular carcinoma,14 nodules of metastatic liver cancer,and two nodules of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.The numbers of nodules with each impedance curve type were as follows:37 increasing-type nodules,43 flat-type nodules,and 68 decreasing-type nodules.Popping occurrence rates were 24.3%,46.5% and 64.7%,respectively.Flat-type nodules exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to increasing-type nodules(P = 0.039).Decreasing-type nodules exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to increasing-type nodules(P < 0.0001).Notably,nodules that showed a sharp decrease in impedance in the latter ablation period(subtype E) exhibited a significantly higher rate of popping compared to other subtypes.CONCLUSION:Intraprocedural impedance monitoring can be a useful tool to predict the occurrence of popping during liver tumor RFA performed with internally cooled electrodes. | Hiroya Iida Tsukasa Aihara Shinichi Ikuta Naoki Yamanaka | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,41: | 2 |
