| 2 | Ophiolites of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt:Geochemical and petrological characterization and tectonic settings显示文摘We present a compilation of published data(field,petrography,ages and geochemistry)from 73 ophiolitic complexes of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.The ophiolitic complexes,ranging in age from Neoproterozoic to Triassic.have been geochemically classified as subduction-related and subductionunrelated categories applying recent,well-established discrimination diagrams.The subductionunrelated category is further subdivided into Mid-Ocean Ridge type(MOR),a common rift-drift stage and Plume type,and the subduction-related category is subdivided into Backarc(BA),Forearc(FA).Backarc to Forearc(BA-FA)and Volcanic Arc(VA)types.The four subduction-related types define highly different geochemical features,with the BA and FA types defining end members showing subduction influence of 10%-100%and 90%-100%subduction influence,respectively,and the two other types(BAFA and VA)define values between the two end members.The subduction-related category comprises79%of the examined ophiolites,of which the BA type ophiolites is by far the dominant group,followed by the BA-FA type,and with FA and VA types as subordinate groups.The Neoproterozoic and Ordovician complexes exhibit the highest,whereas those of Silurian age exhibit the lowest subduction-influence.Of the remaining 21%subduction-unrelated ophiolites,the MOR type dominates.Both the subductionrelated and subduction-unrelated types,in particular the latter,are commonly associated with alkaline basalts taken to represent ocean island magmatism.Harzburgite,dunite,gabbro and basalt are the common lithologies in all ophiolite types,whereas the BA-FA,FA and VA types generally contain intermediate to felsic rocks,and in the FA type boninites occur.The subduction-related ophiolites types generally show low metamorphic grade,whereas greenschist.amphibolite and blueschist grades occur in the subduction-unrelated and BA types.The highly different subduction contribution(from 0 to 100%in the MOR and FA,respectively),attest to variable dips of the subducting slab,as well as variable flux of subduction-related elements into the mantle above subducting slabs,from where the ophiolite magmas got their geochemical fingerprints.As most MOR ophiolites get subducted to the deep mantle,the subduction-related ophiolites have become a dominant ophiolitic type on Earth’s surface through all times supporting the idea about the early start of Plate Tectonics. | Harald Furnes Inna Safonova | 2019 | Geoscience Frontiers2019,10,4: | 15 |

| 4 | Aging:A mitochondrial DNA perspective,critical analysis and an update显示文摘The mitochondrial theory of aging, a mainstream theory of aging which once included accumulation of mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA) damage by reactive oxygen species(ROS) as its cornerstone, has been increasingly losing ground and is undergoing extensive revision due to its inability to explain a growing body of emerging data. Concurrently, the notion of the central role for mtDNA in the aging process is being met with increased skepticism. Our progress in understanding the processes of mtDNA maintenance, repair, damage, and degradation in response to damage has largely refuted the view of mt DNA as being particularly susceptible to ROS-mediated mutagenesis due to its lack of 'protective' histones and reduced complement of available DNA repair pathways. Recent research on mitochondrial ROS production has led to the appreciation that mitochondria, even in vitro, produce much less ROS than previously thought, automatically leading to a decreased expectation of physiologically achievable levels of mtDNA damage. New evidence suggests that both experimentally induced oxidative stress and radiation therapy result in very low levels of mtDNA mutagenesis. Recent advances provide evidence against the existence of the 'vicious' cycle of mtDNA damage and ROS production. Meta-studies reveal no longevity benefit of increased antioxidant defenses. Simultaneously, exciting new observations from both comparative biology and experimental systems indicate that increased ROS production and oxidative damage to cellular macromolecules, including mtDNA, can be associated with extended longevity. A novel paradigm suggests that increased ROS production in aging may be the result of adaptive signaling rather than a detrimental byproduct of normal respiration that drives aging. | 6 | Retrospective analysis of eFAST ultrasounds performed on trauma activations at an academic level-1 trauma center显示文摘BACKGROUND:Point-of-care ultrasound(POCUS)has become increasingly integrated into the practice of emergency medicine.A common application is the extended focused assessment with sonography in trauma(eFAST)exam.The American College of Emergency Physicians has guidelines regarding the scope of ultrasound in the emergency department and the appropriate documentation.The objective of this study was to conduct a review of performed,documented and billed eFAST ultrasounds on trauma activation patients.METHODS:This was a retrospective review of all trauma activation patients during a 10-month period at an academic level-one trauma center.A list comparing all trauma activations was crossreferenced with a list of all billed eFAST scans.Medical records were reviewed to determine whether an eFAST was indicated,performed,and appropriately documented.RESULTS:We found that 1,507 of 1,597 trauma patients had indications for eFAST,but 396(27%)of these patients did not have a billed eFAST.Of these 396 patients,87(22%)had documentation in the provider note that an eFAST was performed but there was no separate procedure note.The remaining 309(78%)did not have any documentation of the eFAST in the patient’s chart although an eFAST was recorded and reviewed during ultrasound quality assurance.CONCLUSION:A significant proportion of trauma patients had eFAST exams performed but were not documented or billed.Lack of documentation was multifactorial.Emergency ultrasound programs require appropriate reimbursement to support training,credentialing,equipment,quality assurance,and device maintenance.Our study demonstrates a significant absence of adequate documentation leading to potential revenue loss for an emergency ultrasound program. | Samantha Shwe Lauren Witchey Shadi Lahham Ethan Kunstadt Inna Shniter John C.Fox | 2020 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2020,11,1: | 5 |
| 7 | Dairy manure as a potential source of crop nutrients and environmental contaminants显示文摘Although animal manure is applied to agricultural fields for its nutrient value,it may also contain potential contaminants.To determine the variability in such contaminants as well as in valuable nutrients,nine uncomposted manure samples from Idaho dairies collected during 2.5 years were analyzed for macro-and micro-nutrients,hormones,phytoestrogens,antibiotics,veterinary drugs,antibiotic resistance genes,and genetic elements involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance.Total N ranged from 6.8 to 30.7(C:N of 10 to 21),P from 2.4 to 9.0,and K from 10.2 to 47.7 g/kg manure.Zn(103-348 mg/kg)was more abundant than Cu(56-127 mg/kg)in all samples.Phytoestrogens were the most prevalent contaminants detected,with concentrations fluctuating over time,reflecting animal diets.This is the first study to document the presence of flunixin,a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug,in solid stacked manure from regular dairy operations.Monensin was the most frequently detected antibiotic.Progesterones and sulfonamides were regularly detected.We also investigated the relative abundance of several types of plasmids involved in the spread of antibiotic resistance in clinical settings.Plasmids belonging to the Inc I,Inc P,and Inc Q1 incompatibility groups were found in almost all manure samples.Inc Q1 plasmids,class 1 integrons,and sulfonamide resistance genes were the most widespread and abundant genetic element surveyed,emphasizing their potential role in the spread of antibiotic resistance.The benefits associated with amending agricultural soils with dairy manure must be carefully weighed against the potential negative consequences of any manure contaminants. | Danika Hill Matthew J.Morra Thibault Stalder Sven Jechalke Eva Top Anne T.Pollard Inna Popova | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2: | 4 |

| 11 | The Russian-Kazakh Altai orogen:An overview and main debatable issues显示文摘The paper reviews previous and recently obtained geological,stratigraphic and geochronological data on the Russian-Kazakh Altai orogen,which is located in the western Central Asian Otogenic Belt(CAOB),between the Kazakhstan and Siberian continental blocks.The Russian-Kazakh Altai is a typical Pacific-type orogen,which represents a collage of oceanic,accretionary,fore-arc,island-arc and continental margin terranes of different ages separated by strike-slip faults and thrusts.Evidence for this comes from key indicative rock associations,such as boninite-and turbidite(graywacke)-bearing volcanogenic-sedimentary units,accreted pelagic chert,oceanic islands and plateaus,MORB-OIB-protolith blueschists.The three major tectonic domains of the Russian-Kazakh Altai are:(1) Altai-Mongolian terrane(AMT);(2) subduction-accretionary(Rudny Altai,Corny Altai) and collisional(Kalba-Narym) terranes;(3) Kurai,Charysh-Terekta,North-East,Irtysh and Char suture-shear zones(SSZ).The evolution of this orogen proceeded in five major stages:(i) late Neoproterozoic-early Paleozoic subduction-accretion in the Paleo-Asian Ocean:(ii) Ordovician-Silurian passive margin;(iii) Devonian-Carboniferous active margin and collision of AMT with the Siberian continent;(iv) late Paleozoic closure of the PAO and coeval collisional magmatism;(v) Mesozoic post-collisional deformation and anarogenic magmatism,which created the modern structural collage of the RussianKazakh Altai orogen.The major still unsolved problem of Altai geology is origin of the Altai-Mongolian terrane(continental versus active margin),age of Altai basement,proportion of juvenile and recycled crust and origin of the middle Paleozoic units of the Gorny Altai and Rudny Altai terranes. | Inna Safonova | 2014 | Geoscience Frontiers2014,5,4: | 3 |

| 16 | Longitudinal molecular characterization of endoscopic specimens from colorectal lesions显示文摘AIM: To compare molecular profiles of proximal colon, distal colon and rectum in large adenomas, early and late carcinomas. To assess feasibility of testing directed at molecular markers from this study in routine clinical practice. METHODS: A prospective 3-year study has resulted in the acquisition of samples from 159 large adenomas and 138 carcinomas along with associated clinical parameters including localization, grade and histological type for adenomas and localization and stage for carcinomas. A complex molecular phenotyping has been performed using multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification technique for the evaluation of Cp G-islandmethylator phenotype(CIMP), PCR fragment analysis for detection of microsatellite instability and denaturing capillary electrophoresis for sensitive detection of somatic mutations in KRAS, BRAF, TP53 and APC genes.RESULTS: Molecular types according to previously introduced Jass classification have been evaluated for large adenomas and early and late carcinomas. An increase in CIMP+ type, eventually accompanied with KRAS mutations, was notable between large adenomas and early carcinomas. As expected, the longitudinal observations revealed a correlation of the CIMP+/BRAF + type with proximal location. CONCLUSION: Prospective molecular classification of tissue specimens is feasible in routine endoscopy practice. Increased frequency of some molecular types corresponds to the developmental stages of colorectal tumors. | 17 | Ionized jet deposition of antimicrobial and stem cell friendly silver-substituted tricalcium phosphate nanocoatings on titanium alloy显示文摘Orthopedic infections pose severe societal and economic burden and interfere with the capability of the implanted devices to integrate in the host bone,thus significantly increasing implants failure rate.To address infection and promote integration,here nanostructured antibacterial and bioactive thin films are proposed,obtained,for the first time,by Ionized Jet Deposition(IJD)of silver-substituted tricalcium phosphate(Ag-TCP)targets on titanium.Coatings morphology,composition and mechanical properties are characterized and proof-of-concept of biocompatibility is shown.Antimicrobial efficacy is investigated against four Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial strains and against C.albicans fungus,by investigating the modifications in planktonic bacterial growth in the absence and presence of silver.Then,for all bacterial strains,the capability of the film to inhibit bacterial adhesion is also tested.Results indicate that IJD permits a fine control over films composition and morphology and deposition of films with suitable mechanical properties.Biological studies show a good efficacy against Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Enterococcus faecalis and against fungus Candida albicans,with evidences of efficacy against planktonic growth and significant reduction of bacterial cell adhesion.No cytotoxic effects are evidenced for equine adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells(ADMSCs),as no reductions are caused to cells viability and no interference is assessed in cells differentiation towards osteogenic lineage,in the presence of silver.Instead,thanks to nanostructuration and biomimetic composition,tricalcium phosphate(TCP)coatings favor cells viability,also when silver-substituted.These findings show that silver-substituted nanostructured coatings are promising for orthopedic implant applications. | Gabriela Graziani Katia Barbaro Inna V.Fadeeva Daniele Ghezzi Marco Fosca Enrico Sassoni Gianluca Vadalà Martina Cappelletti Francesco Valle Nicola Baldini Julietta V.Rau | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,8: | 2 |

The crystal of the title compound belongs to orthorhombic, space group Pna21 with a = 14.730(6), b = 5.478(2), c = 22.619(9) ?, Z = 8, V = 1825.0(13) ?3, Dc = 1.574 g/cm3, μ = 0.547 mm-1, F(000) = 896, R = 0.0767 and w R(I > 2σ(I)) = 0.2064. X-ray analysis indicates that in this crystal double enantiomers are found as the basically asymmetrical unit and interactions between S(1)···N(3), S(3)···N(4) and S(3)···N(7) are observed. This kind of interactions extends the molecules into a one-dimensional double chain.
