Impact of gut microbiome in the development and treatment of pancreatic cancer:Newer insights显示文摘The gut microbiome plays an important role in the variation of pharmacologic response. This aspect is especially important in the era of precision medicine, where understanding how and to what extent the gut microbiome interacts with drugs and their actions will be key to individualizing therapy. The impact of the composition of the gut microbiome on the efficacy of newer cancer therapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell treatment has become an active area of research.Pancreatic adenocarcinoma(PAC)has a poor prognosis even in those with potentially resectable disease, and treatment options are very limited.Newer studies have concluded that there is a synergistic effect for immunotherapy in combination with cytotoxic drugs,in the treatment of PAC.A variety of commensal microbiota can affect the efficacy of conventional chemotherapy and immunotherapy by modulating the tumor microenvironment in the treatment of PAC.This review will provide newer insights on the impact that alterations made in the gut microbial system have in the development and treatment of PAC. | Ayrton I Bangolo Chinmay Trivedi Ishan Jani Silvanna Pender Hirra Khalid Budoor Alqinai Alina Intisar Karamvir Randhawa Joseph Moore Nicoleta De Deugd Shaji Faisal SuchithBoodgere Suresh Parva Gopani Vignesh K Nagesh Tracy Proverbs-Singh Simcha Weissman | 2023 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2023,29,25: | 2

SC Currents Minimization in Distributed Generation Embedded Distribution Networks with Optimal Application of FCLs显示文摘For meeting the increased demand of electrical power, distributed generation(DG)based on renewable energy resources(RERs),has become a potential alternative to large plants based on fossil fuels. The power from environmentally friendly RERs is available at a competitive price due to technological advancements in recent times. Moreover, optimal allocation of DG at the distribution network(DN)level may result in power loss reduction, improvement in voltage profile and the network’s overall reliability. However, integration of DG may increase the short circuit(SC)level beyond the capacity of the protection gear, conductors, transformers and other components of a DN.The high short circuit currents(SCCs)may be reduced by application of a fault current limiter(FCL).However, most of the existing literature proposes optimization of FCLs size by considering only normal configurations of a DN.This approach is inappropriate as it may fail to produce the desired reduction in SCCs in different N−1 contingency scenarios. In this paper,a new strategy is presented that considers both normal as well as various contingency situations for optimal allocation of FCLs in a DN with DG connection. The strategy is implemented in the IEEE 30-bus system in a MATLAB environment using a genetic algorithm(GA).The simulation results prove that the proposed strategy is effective in determining the optimal FCLs size that restricts the SCCs to a safe level in different operating conditions including N−1 contingencies and thus, improves network safety and reliability. The strategy described in the paper can play an important role in DN planning involving optimal application of DG and FCLs. | Irtaza Sohail Babar Hussain M.Abubakar Intisar Ali Sajjad M.Faisal Nadeem Muhammad Sarwar | 2022 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2022,8,5: | 1

Psychoactive Chemical Constituents of Carissa edulis (Forssk.) Vahl Roots and Its Safety Limits in Folk Treatment: Benzodiazepines Analogous显示文摘Carissa edulis Vahl is well known in Sudanese herbal medicine, commonly used for treatment of epilepsy, headache, chest pains, rheumatism, skin lesions, mania and other psychoactive diseases. The investigations of the safety use for psychoactive purposes in Sudanese healing traditions and identifying secondary metabolites of the plant extracts are the key steps towards determination of appropriate medicinal doses. Therefore, one of the chemical constituents was isolated and structurally identified by 1H-NMR and LC-MS.With the aim of evaluating Carissa edulis folk random uses, the isolated compound was compared with reference artificial drugs Lormetazepam,a potentially toxic compound.Structure investigations confirm that the isolated product was benzodiazepines analogous 7-chloro 1,4-benzodiazepine-2-ones.It is important to know the potential toxicity of certain plant in order to assess the therapeutic effect of it,as these are slight distinctions between the medicinal and toxic doses. In general the results obtained justify the use of the roots of Carissa edulis in traditional medicine for the treatment of some psychiatric diseases. | Intisar Salih Ahmed Damra Elhaj Mustafa | 2020 | Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering2020,14,4: | 0

Histopathological patterns of ovarian lesions:A study of 161 cases显示文摘Ovarian lesions are commonly encountered pathologies that cannot be categorized clinicoradiologically.Definite diagnosis is of great importance for therapeutic and prognostic purposes.Histopathology gives accurate diagnosis in most cases.Few cases need supportive tests like immunohistochemistry. Objective:to study the histomorphological diversity of ovarian lesions, their age and location in North of Iraq(Mosul and Duhok).Patients and methods:In the period extended from January 2008 to December 2011,161 cases of ovarian lesions were collected from pathology departments in Azadi General Hospital“Duhok”and Al-Jamhori Teaching Hospital“Mosul”.Automated tissue processor was used for histologic study and Streptavidin-biotin method on paraffin sections was applied for immunohistochemistry.Result:There was a wide age range, most being in the third decade. The right ovaries were more common involved than the left.Histologically,58(36%)cases were non-neoplastic and 103 were neoplastic including 90(55.9%)benign and 9(5.6%)malignant tumors. The remaining 4(2.4%)cases comprised borderline serous cystadenoma. Conclusion:Most ovarian lesions were functional non-neoplastic followed by benign neoplastic.Apart from few cases, diagnosis was merely histological without any ancillary test. | ABDULKAREEM YOUNIS SULEIMAN INTISAR SALIM PITY MOHAMMED R MOHAMMED BASHAR ABDULJABAR HASSAWI | 2019 | BIOCELL2019,43,3: | 0
Assessment of biogas generation potential from slaughterhouse wastes in Dhaka city,Bangladesh显示文摘Slaughterhouse waste is a highly energy-rich waste and is an attractive material to treat through anaerobic digestion to produce biogas.Biogas could be burned to provide heating and electricity or can be converted to bio-methane to be used as fuel.It can also aid in waste management and evidently reduce the ecological and environmental hazards. In this paper, the potential of biogas generation from the slaughterhouses in Dhaka is investigated.Slaughterhouses in 21 regions in Dhaka city have been surveyed for data collection and analysis. The study estimates that approximately 7915 tons of slaughterhouse waste are generated annually from the slaughterhouses in Dhaka city which has the potential to generate 2.15 Mm^(3) of biogas.A case study on the biggest government registered slaughterhouse is also demonstrated regarding generating electricity. | Sayedus Salehin Syed Shaheer Uddin Ahmed Md.Ehasanul Hoque Md.Salauddin Mrigdad S.M.Ashef Hussain S.M.Tahsin Intisar | 2021 | Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2021,3,1: | 0
The Power of Theater Expression and Communication:A Psychological Theraputical Intervention in a Refugee Camp:An IPA Study Into the Narratives of Women Refugees’Experience With Drama Therapy显示文摘Forced displacement poses a major global crisis that must be tackled at all levels:political,socio-economic,and psychological. This paper describes the psychological impact of forced displacement on women and explains the significance of drama therapy intervention(DTI)in treating and empowering trauma impacted refugee women.Frequently used to treat immigrant and refugee adolescents and children in many host communities,DTI is seldom applied to women refugees who suffer from psychological disorders compounded by fleeing their home country and by difficulties faced in host communities. This makes our study the first on women refugees leaving a zone of war and residing in dire conditions in refugee camps. To best analyze the impact of DTI,this study(1)utilizes a qualitative approach to explain the effects of drama therapy intervention on Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian refugee women in Lebanon;(2)It applies a modified five-phase DTI program to fit the experiment setting and conducts post-DTI interviews;(3)It uses interpretative phenomenological analysis(IPA)method to identify emergent themes and to analyze the effectiveness of DTI;(4)Finally,the study concludes that drama therapy can both help refugee women deal with war-related/post-migration emotional trauma and can implement positive changes and help its participants form social bonds among each other. | Sara Sakhi Lina Haddad Kreidie Farah Wardani HH Sheikha Intisar AlSabah Karima Anbar | 2020 | Psychology Research2020,10,1: | 0
