| 2 | Assessment of Phytochemical Analysis,Nutritional Composition and Antimicrobial Activity of Moringa oleifera显示文摘Moringa oleifera is a miracle plant rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and antibiotic properties.Present study was designed to evaluate various biochemical attributes of leaves and flowers of M.oleifera.Plant parts(leaves, flowers)of M.oleifera, collected from different roadsides of Multan district,Punjab,Pakistan, were used as experimental material.Result indicates that alkaloids, saponin, carbohydrates, fats, and protein had a high value in the aqueous extract of both leaves and flowers of M.oleifera.Whereas phenol content was high in methanolic leaves extract and the phenol contents were high in aqueous extract of flowers. The extract yield of M.oleifera leaves and flowers both showed a higher percentage in aqueous extract(57.5%),followed by methanol extract and lowest in ethyl acetate extract.Flavonoids contents were higher in ethyl acetate extract of leaves(33.67%)and aqueous extract of flowers(53.71%).While crude fiber was high in methanolic extract of leaves(12.40%)and in flowers crude fiber was high in ethyl acetate extract(15.86%).The moisture contents were higher in leaves(8.87%)than flowers(7.3%)and similarly, ash percentage in flowers(52.60%)than leaves(41.84%).Ethyl acetate extracts of M.oleifera leaves show antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa while methanolic extract of M.oleifera flowers shows antibacterial activity against Xanthomonas sp.Maximum growth inhibits show in all extracts of leaves against Aspergillus flavus,F.oxysporum, and P.glabrum except for the concentrated aqueous extract of leaves. While in flowers maximum growth inhibits all extracts against P.glabrum,A.niger,and A.flavus except the diluted ethyl acetate extract.Phytochemicals present in different parts of moringa have significant edible and commercial potential.Moringa extracts exhibited significant antimicrobial activity, therefore have applications in pharmaceuticals. | Naima Asghar Abida Aziz Muhammad Farooq Azhar Mohamed El-Sharnouby Uzma Irfan Iqra Rafiq Husnain Farooq Muhammad Ishaq Asif Rehmani Mohamed I.Sakran A.Altalhi Fahad M.Alzuaibr Ayman El Sabagh | 2022 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,8: | 1 |
| 3 | Fine-tuned mesoporous covalent organic frameworks for highly efficient low molecular-weight proteins separation显示文摘Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)are prominent porous materials for molecules separation due to their desirable structures. However, very few COFs are reported for the separation of macromolecules such as low molecular-weight(MW)proteins.Here,two stable mesoporous COFs(Azo-COF and Tp-COF)with highly crystallized frameworks are synthesized, and their pore sizes are slightly-regulated via elaborate selection of pyrene knots and amino linkages.Benefiting from the pore size difference less than 4 ?,the tandem utilization of these two COFs exhibits efficiently size-selective separation ability towards low MW proteins cytochrome c and myoglobin with small MW difference of 2 kDa,in which protein adsorption possibilities are verified by computational calculations together with confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM).Furthermore,a simple COF-based separation device is designed and prepared to achieve effective and low-consumption proteins separation. This work has offered an optimized synthetic strategy for fine-tuned mesoporous COFs and expanded their applications on macromolecules separation. | Tienan Wang Irfan Azhar Yuting Yang Yao Lu Yuyang Tian Nan Gao Fengchao Cui Li Yang Xiaofei Jing Guangshan Zhu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,5: | 0 |
| 4 | Tocilizumab in severe COVID-19-A randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial显示文摘Background:The therapeutic effectiveness of interleukin-6 receptor inhibitor in critically ill hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is uncertain. Methods:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the outcome as recovery or death of tocilizumab for severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)infection,we conducted a randomized,double-blinded,placebo-controlled phase 2 trial in critically ill COVID-19 adult patients. The patients were randomly assigned in a 4:1 ratio to receive standard medical treatment plus the recommended dose of either tocilizumab or the placebo drug.Randomization was stratified. The primary outcome was the recovery or death after administration of tocilizumab or a placebo drug. The secondary outcomes were clinical recovery or worsening of the patients’symptoms and inflammatory markers and discharge from the hospital. Results:Of 190 patients included in this study,152 received tocilizumab, and 38 received a placebo. The duration of hospital stay of the interventional group was 12.9±9.2,while the placebo group had a more extended hospital stay(15.6±8.8).The mortality ratio for the primary outcome,ie,mortality or recovery in the tocilizumab group was 17.8%;p=0.58 by log-rank test). The mortality ratio in the placebo group was 76.3%;p=0.32 by log-rank test). The inflammatory markers in the tocilizumab group significantly declined by day 16 compared to the placebo group. Conclusions:The use of tocilizumab was associated with decreased mortality, earlier improvement of inflamma-tory markers, and reduced hospital stay in patients with severe COVID-19. | Muhammad Irfan Malik Sardar Al Fareed Zafar Fabiha Qayyum Muna Malik Muhammad Sohaib Asghar Muhammad Junaid Tahir Ammarah Arshad Fatima Khalil Hafiza Shafia Naz Mudassar Aslam Jodat Saleem Abdul Aziz Mustafa Usman Azhar Muhammad Naqash Zohaib Yousaf | 2022 | Infectious Medicine2022,1,2: | 0 |
