| 1 | Principle of equipartition of entransy dissipation for heat exchanger design显示文摘In the present work,a principle of equipartition of entransy dissipation(EoED) for heat exchanger design is established,which says that for a heat exchanger design with given heat duty and heat transfer area,the total entransy dissipation rate reaches the minimum when the local entransy dissipation rate is uniformly distributed along the heat exchanger.When the heat transfer coefficient is unfixed,the total entransy dissipation obtained by the EoED principle is less than that obtained by the principle of equipartition of temperature difference(EoTD).Furthermore,the exchanger effectiveness obtained by the EoED principle is larger than that obtained by the EoTD principle.When the heat transfer coefficient is fixed,the EoED principle is equivalent to the EoTD principle.We show that the equipartition of entropy production(EoEP) and EoED principles give rise to difference in entropy generation and entransy dissipation for a heat exchanger optimization design.The discrepancies are caused by distinct features of entropy production minimization and entransy dissipation minimization principles,the former is to optimize the design of heat exchanger by making the lost available work minimum,while the latter is not involved with heat-work conversion.It is found that the entropy generation number is not suitable for evaluating heat exchanger performance,since it directly depends on the inlet and outlet temperatures of working fluids.On the contrary,the entransy dissipation number is not directly related to the inlet and outlet temperatures of working fluids.Therefore,the entransy dissipation number is more suitable for serving as a criterion to evaluate heat exchanger performance. | GUO JiangFeng,XU MingTian & CHENG Lin Institute of Thermal Science and Technology,Shandong University,Jinan 250061,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,5: | 46 |

| 4 | False belief reasoning in the brain: An ERP study显示文摘Understanding others mind and interpersonal interaction are the cognitive basis of successful social interactions. People's mental states and behaviors rely on their holding beliefs for self and others. To investigate the neural substrates of false belief reasoning, the 32 channels event-related potentials (ERP) of 14 normal adults were measured while they understood false-belief and true belief used de-ceptive appearance task. After onset of the false-belief or true-belief questions, N100, P200 and late negative component (LNC) were elicited at centro-frontal sites. Compared with true belief, false belief reasoning elicited significant declined LNC in the time window from 400 to 800 ms. The source analysis of difference wave (False minus True) showed a dipole located in the middle cingulated cortex. | 6 | Characterization of SoxB2 and SoxC genes in Amphi-oxus (Branchiostoma belcheri):Implications for their evolutionary conservation显示文摘Most Sox genes directly affect cell fate determination and differentiation. In this study,we isolated two Sox genes:SoxB2 and SoxC from amphioxus (Branchiostoma belcheri),the closest living invertebrate relative of the vertebrates. Alignments of SoxB2 and SoxC protein sequences and their vertebrate homologs show high conservation of their HMG domains. Phylogenic analysis shows that amphioxus SoxB2 and SoxC fall out of the vertebrate branches,suggesting that vertebrate homologs might arise from gene duplications during evolution. The two genes possess similar spatial and temporal expression patterns during embryogenesis and in adults. They are both maternally inherited. During neurulation,they are expressed in the neural ectoderm and archenterons. In adults,they are expressed not only in the nerve cord,but also in the gut,midgut diverticulum,gill and oocytes. | 7 | Recurrence spectra of He atoms in strong external fields显示文摘By employing a model potential including the electron exchange energy, we extend the semiclassical closed orbit theory to study the multielectron atoms. Using special region-splitting consistent and iterative method, we figure out the closed orbits in the corresponding classical system and calculate the recurrence spectra of triplet helium atoms in parallel electric and magnetic fields at scaled energy e = -0.03, n≈40, m = 0. The core-scattering effects have been taken into account, which lead to more peaks in the spectra. It has also been confirmed by means of the direct comparison between the spectral portrait in such a plot and those of hydrogen case. In order to compare the theoretic results with experiment, we investigate the closed orbits and recurrence spectra of helium atoms for the similar exchange potential but applied only by single electric field at scaled energy e = -2.7 case. The spectra are in good agreement with the experimental observation. | 8 | The dynamical properties of Rydberg hydrogen atom near a metal surface显示文摘The dynamical properties of Rydberg hydrogen atom near a metal surface are presented by using the methods of phase space analysis and closed orbit theory. Transforming the coordinates of the Hamiltonian, we find that the phase space of the system is divided into vibrational and rotational region. Both the Poincaré surface of section and the closed orbit theory verify the same conclusion clearly. In this paper we choose the atomic principal quantum number as n = 20. The dynamical character of the exited hydrogen atom depends sensitively on the atom-surface distance d. When d is sufficiently large, the atom-surface potential can be expressed by the traditional van der Waals force and the system is integrable. When d becomes smaller, there exists a critical value dc. For d > dc, the system is near-integrable and the motion is regular. While chaotic motion appears for d < dc, and the system tends to be non-integrable. | 11 | Effects of medium chain triglycerides on hepatic fatty acid oxidation in clofibrate-fed newborn piglets显示文摘To investigate whether increasing tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle activity and ketogenic capacity would augment fatty acid(FA)oxidation induced by the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha(PPARα)agonist clofibrate,suckling newborn piglets(n=54)were assigned to 8 groups following a 2(±clofibrate)×4(glycerol succinate[SUC],triglycerides of 2-methylpentanoic acid[T2M],valeric acid[TC5]and hexanoic acid[TC6])factorial design.Each group was fed an isocaloric milk formula containing either 0%or 0.35%clofibrate(wt/wt,dry matter basis)with 5%SUC,T2M,TC5 or TC6 for 5 d.Another 6 pigs served as newborn controls.Fatty acid oxidation was examined in fresh homogenates of liver collected on d 6 using[1-^(14)C]palmitic acid(1 mM)as a substrate(0.265μCi/μmol).Measurements were performed in the absence or presence of L-carnitine(1 mM)or inhibitors of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase(L659699,1.6μM)or acetoacetate-CoA deacylase(iodoacetamide,50μM).Without clofibrate stimulation,^(14)C accumulation in CO_(2) was higher from piglets fed diets containing T2M and TC5 than SUC,but similar to those fed TC6.Under clofibrate stimulation,accumulation also was higher in homogenates from piglets fed TC5 than all other dietary treatments.Interactions between clofibrate and carnitine or the inhibitors were observed(P=0.0004)for acid soluble products(ASP).In vitro addition of carnitine increased^(14)C-ASP(P<0.0001)above all other treatments,regardless of clofibrate treatment.The percentage of^(14)C in CO_(2) was higher(P=0.0023)in TC5 than in the control group.From these results we suggest that dietary supplementation of anaplerotic and ketogenic FA could impact FA oxidation and modify the metabolism of acetyl-CoA(product ofβ-oxidation)via alteration of TCA cycle activity,but the modification has no significant impact on the hepatic FA oxidative capacity induced by PPARα.In addition,the availability of carnitine is a critical element to maintain FA oxidation during the neonatal period. | Jinan Zhao Brandon Pike Jin Huang Zhihua Feng Jack Odle Xi Lin | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,1: | 1 |

| 13 | Anisotropic resizing and deformation preserving geometric textures显示文摘Model resizing is a useful technique for model reuse. Non-homogeneous model resizing introduced by Kraevoy et al. is able to preserve important geometric features during anisotropic scaling. However, many practical objects contain various geometric textures. Different from similar objects without geometric textures, such objects seem to be extremely difficult for resizing even if the underlying surfaces are relatively simple. In this paper, we present an automatic model resizing method based on geometric texture transfer. Geometric textures are separated from the underlying surfaces and reconstructed on the non-homogenously scaled surfaces using geometric texture synthesis. By utilizing the natural correspondence between the surfaces before and after resizing, surfaces with multiple geometric textures can be resized and geometric texture recovered automatically. Experimental results show that our method effectively and automatically preserves geometric textures during the model resizing process. | 14 | Ground-Based Hyperspectral Stereoscopic Remote Sensing Network: A Promising Strategy to Learn Coordinated Control of O_(3) and PM_(2.5) over China显示文摘With the coming of the“14th Five-Year Plan,”the coordinated control of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter no greater than 2.5 lm(PM_(2.5))and O_(3) has become a major issue of air pollution prevention and control in China.The stereoscopic monitoring of regional PM_(2.5) and O_(3) and their precursors is crucial to achieve coordinated control.However,current monitoring networks are currently inadequate for monitoring the vertical profiles of both PM_(2.5) and O_(3) simultaneously and support air quality control.The University of Science and Technology of China(USTC)has established a nationwide ground-based hyperspectral stereoscopic remote sensing network based on multi-axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy(MAX-DOAS)since 2015.This monitoring network provides a significant opportunity for the regional coordinated control of PM_(2.5) and O_(3) in China.One-year vertical profiles of aerosol,NO_(2) and HCHO monitored from four MAX-DOAS stations installed in four megacities(Beijing,Shanghai,Shenzhen,and Chongqing)were used to characterize their vertical distribution differences in four key regions,Jing–Jin–Ji(JJJ),Yangtze River Delta(YRD),Pearl River Delta(PRD),and Sichuan Basin(SB),respectively.The normalized and yearly averaged aerosol vertical profiles below 400 m in JJJ and PRD exhibit a box shape and a Gaussian shape,respectively,and both show exponential shapes in YRD and SB.The NO_(2) vertical profiles in four regions all exhibit exponential shapes because of vehicle emissions.The shape of the HCHO vertical profile in JJJ and PRD was Gaussian,whereas an exponential shape was shown in YRD and SB.Moreover,a regional transport event occurred at an altitude of 600–1000 m was monitored in the southwest–northeast pathway of the North China Plain(NCP)by five MAX-DOAS stations(Shijiazhuang(SJZ),Wangdu(WD),Nancheng(NC),Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences(CAMS),and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences(UCAS))belonging to the above network.The aerosol optical depths(AOD)in these five stations decreased in the order of SJZ>WD>NC>CAMS>UCAS.The short-distance regional transport of NO2 in the 700–900 m layer was monitored between WD and NC.As an important precursor of secondary aerosol,the peak of NO_(2) air mass in WD and NC all occurred 1 h earlier than that of aerosol.This was also observed for the short-distance regional transport of HCHO in the 700–900 m layer between NC and CAMS,which potentially affected the O_(3) concentration in Beijing.Finally,CAMS was selected as a typical site to determine the O_(3)–NO_(x)–volatile organic compounds(VOCs)sensitivities in vertical space.We found the production of O_(3) changed from predominantly VOCs-limited conditions to mainly mixed VOCs–NO_(x)-limited condition from the 0–100 m layer to the 200–300 m layer.In addition,the downward transport of O_(3) could contribute to the increase of ground surface O_(3) concentration.This ground-based hyperspectral stereoscopic remote sensing network provide a promising strategy to support management of PM_(2.5) and O_(3) and their precursors and conduct attribution of sources. | Cheng Liu Chengzhi Xing Qihou Hu Qihua Li Haoran Liu Qianqian Hong Wei Tan Xiangguang Ji Hua Lin Chuan Lu Jinan Lin Hanyang Liu Shaocong Wei Jian Chen Kunpeng Yang Shuntian Wang Ting Liu Yujia Chen | 2022 | Engineering2022,,12: | 0 |
