| 1 | A Brief Overview of ChatGPT:The History,Status Quo and Potential Future Development显示文摘ChatG PT,an artificial intelligence generated content (AIGC) model developed by OpenAI,has attracted worldwide attention for its capability of dealing with challenging language understanding and generation tasks in the form of conversations.This paper briefly provides an overview on the history,status quo and potential future development of ChatGPT,helping to provide an entry point to think about ChatGPT.Specifically,from the limited open-accessed resources,we conclude the core techniques of ChatGPT,mainly including large-scale language models,in-context learning,reinforcement learning from human feedback and the key technical steps for developing ChatGPT.We further analyze the pros and cons of ChatGPT and we rethink the duality of ChatGPT in various fields.Although it has been widely acknowledged that ChatGPT brings plenty of opportunities for various fields,mankind should still treat and use ChatG PT properly to avoid the potential threat,e.g.,academic integrity and safety challenge.Finally,we discuss several open problems as the potential development of ChatGPT. | Tianyu Wu Shizhu He Jingping Liu Siqi Sun Kang Liu Qing-Long Han Yang Tang | 2023 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2023,10,5: | 18 |
| 2 | Segmentation of Hematoxylin-Eosin stained breast cancer histopathological images based on pixel-wise SVM classifier显示文摘Hematoxylin-Eosin(HE) staining is the routine diagnostic method for breast cancer(BC), and large amounts of HE stained histopathological images are available for analysis. It is emergent to develop computational methods to efficiently and objectively analyze these images, with the aim of providing potentially better diagnostic and prognostic information for BC. This work focuses on analyzing our in-house HE stained histopathological images of breast cancer tissues. Since tumor nests(TNs) and stroma morphological characteristics can reflect the biological behaviors of breast invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC), accurate segmentation of TNs and the stroma is the first step towards the subsequent quantitative analysis. We first propose a method based on the pixel-wise support vector machine(SVM) classifier for segmenting TNs and the stroma, then extract four morphological characters related to the TNs from the images and investigate their relationships with the patients' 8-year disease free survival(8-DFS). The evaluation result shows that the classification based segmentation method is able to distinguish between TNs and stroma with 87.1% accuracy and 80.2% precision,suggesting that the proposed method is promising in segmenting HE stained IDC histopathological images. | 3 | Shuganjieyu capsule increases neurotrophic factor expression in a rat model of depression显示文摘Shuganjieyu capsule has been approved for clinical treatment by the State Food and Drug Administration of China since 2008. In the clinic, Shuganjieyu capsule is often used to treat mild to moderate depression. In the rat model of depression established in this study, Shuganjieyu capsule was administered intragastrically daily before stress. Behavioral results confirmed that depressive symptoms lessened after treatment with high-dose(150 mg/kg) Shuganjieyu capsule. Immunohistochemistry results showed that high-dose Shuganjieyu capsule significantly increased phosphorylation levels of phosphorylation cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element binding protein and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in the medial prefrontal cortex and hippocampal CA3 area. | 6 | Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules reduce atherogenesis and promote the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 in rabbit atherosclerotic plaque macrophages and the liver显示文摘Objective:ATP-binding cassette transporter A1(ABCA1)is an integral membrane protein that plays a key role in cellular lipid metabolism,preventing the accumulation of lipids that contribute to the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis.Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules are a Chinese herbal compound that is capable of treating atherosclerosis.This study was designed to explore the potential pharmacological mechanism by which Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules protect against atherosclerosis.Methods:Forty-nine male New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into seven groups:normal control group,normal diet;model groups 1 and 2:balloon injury and high-fat diet for 6 or 12 weeks;statin groups 1 and 2:balloon injury and high-fat diet plus atorvastatin for 6 or 12 weeks;and Chinese herb groups 1 and 2:balloon injury and high-fat diet plus Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules for 6 or12 weeks.The granules were administered at a dose of 1.14 g/kg/d,with atorvastatin(1.14 mg/kg/d)serving as positive control.Serum lipid profiles and liver function indices were measured.Atherogenesis was viewed after H&E staining and quantified by thickened intimal area percentage and maximal intimal thickness percentage.The ABCA1 protein expression in atherosclerotic plaque macrophages of the common carotid arteries(CCA),thoracic aortae(TA),and liver tissues were observed by immunohistochemical staining and evaluated using mean optical density(OD)value in macrophages and ABCA1-positive hepatocyte number.Results:Compared with model group 1 at week 6,Chinese herb group 1 and statin group 1 displayed significant reductions in total cholesterol(TC)(PZ0.027,0.012)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)(PZ0.039,0.028)levels,as well as marked increases in ABCA1-positive hepatocyte numbers(P all<0.001),and only statin group 1 displayed a markedly reducedmaximal intimal thickness percentage in the CCA(P Z 0.018).Compared with model group 2 at week 12,Chinese herb group 2 and statin group 2 all presented significant reductions in TC(P Z 0.011,0.003),LDL-C(P Z 0.017,0.010)and thickened intimal area percentage in the CCA(P Z 0.001,0.022),as well as prominent increases in the ABCA1 OD value of both the CCA(P Z 0.001,0.039)and TA(P Z 0.001,0.025)and positive hepatocyte number(P all<0.001).Chinese herb group 2 had a markedly reduced maximal intimal thickness percentage compared with model group 2(P Z 0.006)and a higher positive hepatocytes number than statin group 2(P Z 0.001).Conclusions:Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules appear to have an anti-atherogenic effect that is most likely mediated by simultaneously upregulating the protein expression of ABCA1 in rabbit atherosclerotic plaque macrophages and in the liver. | Qing Sun Lu Zhang Shuwen Guo Min Zheng Dandan Yang Chenglong Zheng Jiani Wu Jian Liu Jingping Wu | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2014,1,1: | 2 |

| 8 | Production of Pectinolytic Enzymes by Two Bacillus spp. Strains and Their Application in Flax Degumming显示文摘This study demonstrated that Bacillus licheniformis HDYM-03 and Bacillus megaterium HDYM-09, isolated from a liquid sample of fl ax retting pool, were able to produce pectinolytic enzymes using polysaccharides as substrates. Bacillus megaterium HDYM-09 produced pectin lyase that exhibited the highest activity of 2116.71 ± 11.55 U/mL. Bacillus licheniformis HDYM-03 produced pectate lyase that exhibited the highest activity of 611.21 ± 14.54 U/mL. Based on these fi ndings, we constructed four retting systems to degrade the pectin substance. The results showed that the content of galacturonic acid in the mixed system was 529.21 μg/mL, the content of reducing sugar was 98.14 mg/mL, and the weight loss ratio of cells reached 19.49%, which were signifi cantly higher than those in other systems. The mixed system has more advantages, and the utilization rate of degumming was higher, which further ensured that the degumming can be carried out effi ciently and quickly. | 16 | Convolutional neural network-based automatic image recognition for agricultural machinery显示文摘An internet of things-based subsoiling operation monitoring system for agricultural machinery is able to identify the type and operating state of a certain machinery by collecting and recognizing its images;however,it does not meet regulatory requirements due to a large image data volume,heavy workload by artificial selective examination,and low efficiency.In this study,a dataset containing machinery images of over 100 machines was established,which including subsoilers,rotary cultivators,reversible plows,subsoiling and soil-preparation machines,seeders,and non-machinery images.The images were annotated in tensorflow,a deep learning platform from Google.Then,a convolutional neural network(CNN)was designed for targeting actual regulatory demands and image characteristics,which was optimized by reducing overfitting and improving training efficiency.Model training results showed that the recognition rate of this machinery recognition network to the demonstration dataset reached 98.5%.In comparison,the recognition rates of LeNet and AlexNet under the same conditions were 81%and 98.8%,respectively.In terms of model recognition efficiency,it took AlexNet 60 h to complete training and 0.3 s to recognize 1 image,whereas the proposed machinery recognition network took only half that time to complete training and 0.1 s to recognize 1 image.To further verify the practicability of this model,6 types of images,with 200 images in each type,were randomly selected and used for testing;results indicated that the average recognition recall rate of various types of machinery images was 98.8%.In addition,the model was robust to illumination,environmental changes,and small-area occlusion,and thus was competent for intelligent image recognition of subsoiling operation monitoring systems. | Kun Yang Hui Liu Pei Wang Zhijun Meng Jingping Chen | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4: | 1 |
| 17 | Anaerobic digestion of sludge by different pretreatments:Changes of amino acids and microbial community显示文摘Many studies have investigated the effects of different pretreatments on the performance of anaerobic digestion of sludge.However,the detailed changes of dissolved organic nitrogen,particularly the release behavior of proteins and the byproducts of protein hydrolysis-amino acids,are rarely known during anaerobic digestion of sludge by different pretreatments.Here we quantified the changes of three types of proteins and 17 types of amino acids in sludge samples solubilized by ultrasonic,thermal,and acid/alkaline pretreatments and their transformation during anaerobic digestion of sludge.Tryptophan protein,aromatic protein I,aromatic protein II,and cysteine were identified as the key dissolved organic nitrogen responsible for methane production during anaerobic digestion of sludge,regardless of the different pretreatment methods.Different from the depletion of other amino acids,cysteine was resistant to degradation after an incubation period of 30 days in all sludge samples.Meanwhile,the“cysteine and methionine metabolism(K00270)”was absent in all sludge samples by identifying 6755 Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes assignments of genes hits.Cysteine contributed to the generation of methane and the degradation of acetic,propionic,and n-butyric acids through decreasing oxidation-reduction potential and enhancing biomass activity.This study provided an alternative strategy to enhance anaerobic digestion of sludge through in situ production of cysteine. | Keke Xiao Zecong Yu Kangyue Pei Mei Sun Yuwei Zhu Sha Liang Huijie Hou Bingchuan Liu Jingping Hu Jiakuan Yang | 2022 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,2: | 1 |

| 19 | Energy Paths that Sustain the Warm-Sector Torrential Rainfall over South China and Their Contrasts to the Frontal Rainfall: A Case Study显示文摘Predicting warm-sector torrential rainfall over South China,which is famous for its destructive power,is one of the most challenging issues of the current numerical forecast field.Insufficient understanding of the key mechanisms underlying this type of event is the root cause.Since understanding the energetics is crucial to understanding the evolutions of various types of weather systems,a general methodology for investigating energetics of torrential rainfall is provided in this study.By applying this methodology to a persistent torrential rainfall event which had concurrent frontal and warm-sector precipitation,the first physical image on the energetics of the warm-sector torrential rainfall is established.This clarifies the energy sources for producing the warm-sector rainfall during this event.For the first time,fundamental similarities and differences between the warm-sector and frontal torrential rainfall are shown in terms of energetics.It is found that these two types of rainfall mainly differed from each other in the lower-tropospheric dynamical features,and their key differences lay in energy sources.Scale interactions(mainly through downscale energy cascade and transport)were a dominant factor for the warm-sector torrential rainfall during this event,whereas,for the frontal torrential rainfall,they were only of secondary importance.Three typical signals in the background environment are found to have supplied energy to the warm-sector torrential rainfall,with the quasi-biweekly oscillation having contributed the most. | Shenming FU Jingping ZHANG Yali LUO Wenying YANG Jianhua SUN | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,9: | 1 |
