1Experimental Study on Interaction Between Degrees of Freedom in a Wave Buoy显示文摘Increasing degrees of freedom(DOFs)is a useful way to raise the power capture efficiency of oscillating wave energy converters.Thus,this study proposes a buoy with three DOFs,which are surge,heave,and pitch.The hydrodynamic performance and power capture efficiency of the buoy is physically modeled.Amplitudes of unidirectional and coupled motions are compared to analyze the interaction effect between freedoms under conditions with and without power take-off damping.The capture width ratio and corresponding growth rates are also calculated.Results show that the buoy makes a periodic sinusoidal(or approximate)movement in every DOF.Coupling effect can cause an increase in the amplitude in one DOF and a decrease in the amplitudes of the others.This phenomenon shows that the kinematic energy of the buoy redistributes to all DOFs compared with the unidirectional conditions.Adding DOFs can improve the power absorption of the buoy in most cases,but the number of DOFs is not the more the better.HUANG Shuting SHI Hongda CAO Feifei TAN Junzhe CHENG Haixun LI Demin LIU Shangze GONG Haoxiang TAO Ji 2019Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,6:5
2Study and innovation of a flexible blade turbine,a new type of tidal current generating device显示文摘Utilization of tidal current is becoming a focus of marine energy research and development field. In this paper, a new type of tidal current power generating device which was called flexible blade turbine was put forward. A scale model testing was carried out, and results show that the models performed as expected with good hydrodynamic characteristics. Based on analysis of the results, a scale model turbine with a rated power of 5 kW was constructed, which was an optimal scheme of the flexible blade turbine having higher coefficient of power and power generation capacity. Sea trials were carried out in the Zhaitang Island Channel to evaluate the performance of the turbine. 4Simulation Study of Potential Impacts of Tidal Farm in the Eastern Waters of Chengshan Cape, China显示文摘The sea area east of Chenshan Cape has peak tidal current flows that exceed 2.3 m s^-1,which make it a promising site for the development of tidal current energy.Before these resources can be exploited,a comprehensive assessment is needed of the potential environmental impacts of the extraction of this energy.In this paper,we describe our construction of a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model of the waters near Chengshan Cape,and verify the performance of the model using continuous data measured in situ.We modeled the potential impacts of the exploitation of these resources on the flow field by adding a momentum loss term in the governing equation of the model.Simulation results show that an assumed tidal farm with an estimated power output of 20.34 MW would have a significant impact on the surrounding water level,especially next to the farm,where fluctuation could reach 6 cm.The maximum drop in the flow velocity in the wake of the farm was predicted to be more than 0.8 m s^-1,and this influence would extend 10 km downstream.LIU Xiaodong YUAN Peng WANG Shujie YUAN Shuai TAN Junzhe SI Xiancai 2019Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,5:0
