Epidemiology of lung cancer and approaches for its prediction:a systematic review and analysis显示文摘Background: Owing to the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcohol and adulterated food, worldwide cancer incidence is increasing at an alarming and frightening rate. Since the last decade of the twentieth century, lung cancer has been the most common cancer type. This study aimed to determine the global status of lung cancer and to evaluate the use of computational methods in the early detection of lung cancer. Methods: We used lung cancer data from the United Kingdom(UK), the United States(US), India, and Egypt. For statistical analysis, we used incidence and mortality as well as survival rates to better understand the critical state of lung cancer. Results: In the UK and the US, we found a significant decrease in lung cancer mortalities in the period of 1990–2014, whereas, in India and Egypt, such a decrease was not much promising. Additionally, we observed that, in the UK and the US, the survival rates of women with lung cancer were higher than those of men. We observed that the data mining and evolutionary algorithms were efficient in lung cancer detection. Conclusions: Our findings provide an inclusive understanding of the incidences, mortalities, and survival rates of lung cancer in the UK, the US, India, and Egypt. The combined use of data mining and evolutionary algorithm can be efficient in lung cancer detection.Ashutosh Kumar Dubey Umesh Gupta Sonal Jain 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,9:37
Identification, occurrence, and validation of DRE and ABRE Cis-regulatory motifs in the promoter regions of genes of Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Plants posses a complex co-regulatory network Researchwhich helps them to elicit a response under diverse adverse conditions. We used an in silico approach to identify the genes with both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in Arabidopsis thaliana. Our results showed that Arabidopsis contains a set of 2,052 genes with ABRE and DRE motifs in their promoter regions.Approximately 72%or more of the total predicted 2,052 genes had a gap distance of less than 400 bp between DRE and ABRE motifs. For positional orientation of the DRE and ABRE motifs,we found that the DR form(one in direct and the other one in reverse orientation)was more prevalent than other forms. These predicted 2,052 genes include 155 transcription factors.Using microarray data from The Arabidopsis Information Resource(TAIR)database,we present 44 transcription factors out of 155 which are upregulated by more than twofold in response to osmotic stress and ABA treatment.Fifty-one transcripts from the onepredicted above were validated using semiquantitative expression analysis to support the microarray data in TAIR.Taken together,we report a set of genes containing both DRE and ABRE motifs in their promoter regions in A.thaliana, which can be useful to understand the role of ABA under osmotic stress condition.Sonal Mishra Aparna Shukla Swati Upadhyay Sanchita Pooja Sharma Seema Singh Ujjal J.Phukan Abha Meena Feroz Khan Vineeta Tripathi Rakesh Kumar Shukla Ashok Shrama 2014Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2014,56,4:5
Giant exophytic renal angiomyolipoma masquerading as a retroperitoneal liposarcoma: A case report and review of literature显示文摘A 42-years-old lady, presented with a large retroperitoneal mass which was preoperatively diagnosed as a retroperitoneal liposarcoma following an image guided core biopsy. She underwent a margin-negative resection of the retroperitoneal mass(multi visceral resection-enbloc excision of the retroperitoneal mass with a left nephrectomy and a segmental descending colectomy). The final histopathological examination of the resected specimen confirmed an exophytic renal angiomyolipoma(AML) which was extending into the retroperitoneum. AML is a rare benign tumor arising most commonly from the kidney. It can sometimes present as a diagnostic challenge as it mimics a retroperitoneal liposarcoma or a fat-containing renal cell carcinomas closely. We present this case to share our experience of managing a case of giant exophytic AML which resembled retroperitoneal liposarcoma closely and resulted into an aggressive surgery.Gopal Sharma Ayush Jain Prerit Sharma Sonal Sharma Vinita Rathi Pankaj Kumar Garg 2018World Journal of Clinical Oncology2018,9,7:2
Foraminiferal biostratigraphy of lignite mines of Kutch,India:Age of lignite and fossil vertebrates显示文摘The lignite deposits of Kutch, India are stratigraphically referred to the Naredi Formation and considered to be Early Eocene in age. The biostratigraphy of the older mine at Panandhro and a newly opened mine at Matanomadh has constrained the upper age limit of lignite to the early Bartonian. Its lower age may extend to the late Lutetian. Temporally the formation of lignite corresponds to the warming event of the Middle Eocene and suggests a humid climate at the onset of the warming. The previous palynological studies have already suggested dominance of tropical angiospermic pollen. A diverse assemblage of fossil whales and other vertebrates, many of them supposedly the oldest representatives, were reported from Panandhro mine. These were initially assigned to the Early Eocene and later to the Lute? tian age. The present biostratigraphic study revises their age to the Early Bartonian.Pratul Kumar Saraswati Sonal Khanolkar Dalta Surya Narayana Raju Suryendu Dutta Santanu Banerjee 2014Journal of Palaeogeography2014,3,1:2

Heat Transfer and Thermal Characteristics Effects on Moving Plate Impinging from Cu-Water Nanofluid Jet显示文摘The present article is focused on modelling of flow and heat transfer behaviour of Cu-water nanofluid in a confined slot jet impingement on hot moving plate.Different parameters such as various moving plate velocities, nanoparticles at various concentrations, variation in turbulent Reynolds number and jet nozzle to plate distance have been considered to study the flow field and convective heat transfer performance of the system. Results of distribution of local and average Nusselt number and skin friction coefficients at the plate surface are shown to elucidate the heat transfer and fluid flow process.Qualitative analysis of both stream function and isotherm contours are carried out to perceive the flow pattern and heat transfer mechanism due to moving plate. The results revealed that average Nusselt number significantly rises with plate velocity in addition with jet inlet Reynolds number.Correlations of the average Nusselt numbers are presented.DATTA Abanti KUMAR Sonal HALDER Pabitra 2020Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,1:1

Eocene foraminiferal biofacies in Kutch Basin(India) in context of palaeoclimate and palaeoecology显示文摘The Eocene Epoch passed through multiple hyperthermal events and recorded highest temperatures in the Cenozoic. Very few studies from Eocene palaeotropical sites have recorded changes in shallow marine foraminiferal assemblages. The present study investigates the foraminiferal biofacies of shallow marine successions from a palaeotropical site in western India (Kutch Basin) to understand the palaeoclimate and its impact on the ecology of foraminifera. The sections were biostratigraphically con strained using planktic and larger benthic foraminifera. Four biofacies are recognized by detrended correspondence analysis of the sample-wise distribution of foraminifera. Low diversity and dwarfed foraminifera characterize Bulimina-Chiloguembelino biofacies (SBZ5/6-SBZ10), corresponding to the interval of Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maxima (PETM) and Eocene Thermal Maxima 2 (ETM 2). Rectilinear benthic foraminifera and biserial and triserial planktic foraminifera, typical of high runoff, upwelling or eutrophic conditions, are dominant taxa in this biofacies. The specialist taxa increased significantly in Asterigerina-Cibicides biofacies, corresponding to SBZ11 (Early Eocene Climatic Optimum, EECO), and the environment became oligotrophic. The Jenkinsina-Brizalina biofacies (E12) is distinguished by foraminiferal assemblage ecologically like that of Bulimina-Chiloguembelina biofacies. It is characterized by high abundance of rectilinear benthic foraminifera and bloom of triserial planktic foraminifera, suggesting eutrophy and high runoff at the initiation of Middle Eocene Climatic Optimum (MECO). The foraminifera were more diverse and abundant in Cibicides-Nonion biofacies. The highly diverse larger benthic foraminiferal assemblage in this biofacies, signify warm and clear-water oligotrophic sea that promoted the development of platform carbonate in Kutch Basin and other basins in western India. The EECO and MECO did not have an adverse impact on shallow marine foraminifera, and particularly the larger benthic foraminifera attained high diversity, high abundance, larger size and wider latitudinal distribution in the middle Eocene.Sonal Khanolkar Pratul Kumar Saraswati 2019Journal of Palaeogeography2019,8,3:1

Medical Data Clustering and Classification Using TLBO and Machine Learning Algorithms显示文摘This study aims to empirically analyze teaching-learning-based optimization(TLBO)and machine learning algorithms using k-means and fuzzy c-means(FCM)algorithms for their individual performance evaluation in terms of clustering and classification. In the first phase, the clustering(k-means and FCM)algorithms were employed independently and the clustering accuracy was evaluated using different computationalmeasures.During the second phase, the non-clustered data obtained from the first phase were preprocessed with TLBO.TLBO was performed using k-means(TLBO-KM)and FCM(TLBO-FCM)(TLBO-KM/FCM)algorithms.The objective function was determined by considering both minimization and maximization criteria.Non-clustered data obtained from the first phase were further utilized and fed as input for threshold optimization.Five benchmark datasets were considered from theUniversity of California,Irvine(UCI)Machine Learning Repository for comparative study and experimentation. These are breast cancer Wisconsin(BCW),Pima Indians Diabetes,Heart-Statlog,Hepatitis,and Cleveland Heart Disease datasets. The combined average accuracy obtained collectively is approximately 99.4%in case of TLBO-KM and 98.6%in case of TLBOFCM.This approach is also capable of finding the dominating attributes. The findings indicate that TLBO-KM/FCM,considering different computational measures, perform well on the non-clustered data where k-means and FCM,if employed independently, fail to provide significant results.Evaluating different feature sets, the TLBO-KM/FCM and SVM(GS)clearly outperformed all other classifiers in terms of sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.TLBOKM/FCM attained the highest average sensitivity(98.7%),highest average specificity(98.4%)and highest average accuracy(99.4%)for 10-fold cross validation with different test data.Ashutosh Kumar Dubey Umesh Gupta Sonal Jain 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:0
Traversing the advantageous role of samarium doped spinel nanoferrites for photocatalytic removal of organic pollutants显示文摘The present work reportes the pertinence of samarium(Sm) doped spinel nanoferrites as magnetically recoverable photocatalyst for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater. Thus,a series of Sm substituted spinel nano ferrites,MSm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(M=Ni,Co;x=0,0.02,0.06,0.1) we re synthesized via sol-gel methodology. The effect of Sm doping on the structural, morphological, optical and magnetic properties of pristine nanoferrites was investigated systematically.Further, the fabricated samples were explored as photocatalysts for the oxidative degradation of antibiotics(ofloxacin and norfloxacin) and dyes(methyl orange and safranin O).The Sm doped nanoferrites exhibit astonishing catalytic efficacy that can be attributed to higher surface area, octahedral site preference of Sm ions and reduced band gap.The synthesized nanoferrites display excellent recyclability which enables them to be utilized as potential photocatalysts for wastewater treatment.Sneha Singh Paramdeep Kaur Vinod Kumar K.B.Tikoo Sonal Singhal 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,7:0
Additive‑Driven Interfacial Engineering of Aluminum Metal Anode for Ultralong Cycling Life显示文摘Rechargeable Al batteries(RAB)are promising candidates for safe and environmentally sustainable battery systems with low-cost investments. However, the currently used aluminum chloridebased electrolytes present a significant challenge to commercialization due to their corrosive nature. Here,we report for the first time,a novel electrolyte combination for RAB based on aluminum trifluoromethanesulfonate(Al(OTf)_(3))with tetrabutylammonium chloride(TBAC)additive in diglyme. The presence of a mere 0.1 M of TBAC in the Al(OTf)_(3) electrolyte generates the charge carrying electrochemical species, which forms the basis of reaction at the electrodes.TBAC reduces the charge transfer resistance and the surface activation energy at the anode surface and also augments the dissociation of Al(OTf)_(3) to generate the solid electrolyte interphase components. Our electrolyte’s superiority directly translates into reduced anodic overpotential for cells that ran for 1300 cycles in Al plating/stripping tests, the longest cycling life reported to date. This unique combination of salt and additive is non-corrosive,exhibits a high flash point and is cheaper than traditionally reported RAB electrolyte combinations, which makes it commercially promising.Through this report,we address a major roadblock in the commercialization of RAB and inspire equivalent electrolyte fabrication approaches for other metal anode batteries.Sonal Kumar Prasad Rama Gaoliang Yang Wei Ying Lieu Deviprasath Chinnadurai Zhi Wei Seh 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,2:0
Enhanced dissolution of poorly soluble antiviral drugs from nanoparticles of cellulose acetate based solid dispersion matrices显示文摘Polysaccharide-based polymers were used to produce nanoparticles of poorly soluble antiviral drugs using a rapid precipitation process. The structure-property relationships of four novel cellulose acetate-based polymers were studied for their solubility enhancement of poorly soluble drugs. Particles were purified by dialysis, and dried powders were recovered after freeze-drying. The particle diameters were 150–200 nm. The target drug loading in the particles was 25 wt%, and the drug loading efficiencies were 80–96%. The effects of the formulation process and nanoparticle properties on drug solubility were investigated. All nanoparticles afforded increased solubility and faster release compared to pure drugs. Drug release was a function of the relative hydrophobicity (or solubility parameters) of the polymers.Production and hosting by Elsevier B.V. on behalf of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University.Sonal Mazumdera Ashish Kumar Dewangan Naresh Pavurala 2017Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2017,12,6:0
The formation of authigenic deposits during Paleogene warm climatic intervals:A review显示文摘Although Paleogene warm climatic intervals have received considerable attention for atmospheric and oceanographic changes, the authigenic mineralization associated with these time spans remains overlooked. An extensive review of the literature reveals a close correspondence between the high abundance of glauconite and warm climatic intervals during the Paleogene period. The abundance of phosphorite, ironstone, lignite and black shale deposits reveals similar trends.Although investigated thoroughly, the origin of these authigenic deposits is never understood in the background of Paleogene warming climatic intervals.A combination of factors like warm seawater, hypoxic shelf, low rate of sedimentation, and enhanced rate of continental weathering facilitated the glauconitization. The last factor caused the excess supply of nutrients, including Fe,Si,K,Mg and Al through the rivers, the cations needed for the formation of glauconite. The excessive inflow of nutrient-rich freshwater into the shallow seas further ensured high organic productivity and stratification in shallow shelves, causing hypoxia. The consequent rapid rise in sea-level during the warm periods created extensive low-relief shallow marine shelves starved in sediments.Oxygen-deficiency in the shallow marine environment facilitated the fixation of Fe into the glauconite structure. The inflow of nutrient-rich water during the warm climatic intervals facilitated the formation of phosphorite, ironstone, and organic-matter-rich sedimentary deposits as well.Although global factors primarily controlled the formation of these authigenic deposits, local factors played significant roles in some of the deposits. Therefore, phosphorites formed in marine conditions with open circulation within the tropical zone. While lush growth of rainforest covers in the tropical belt facilitated the formation of coastal lignite.Santanu Banerjee Tathagata Roy Choudhury Pratul Kumar Saraswati Sonal Khanolkar 2020Journal of Palaeogeography2020,9,4:0
