| 1 | Multiple genetic alterations and behavior of cellular biology in gastric cancer and other gastric mucosal lesions:H.pylori infection,histological types and staging显示文摘AIM To investigate the expression of multiplegenes and the behavior of cellular biology ingastric cancer(GC)and other gastric mucosallesions and their relations to Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection,tumor staging andhistological subtypes.METHODS Three hundred and twenty-sevenspecimens of gastric mucosa obtained viaendoscopy or surgical resection,and ABCimmunohistochemical staining were used todetect the expression of p53,p16,Bcl-2 andCOX-2 proteins.H.pylori was determined byrapid urea test combined with pathologicalstaining or14C urea breath test.Cellular image analysis was performed in 66 patients withintestinal metaplasia(IM)and/or dysplasia(Dys).In 30 of them,both cancer and theparacancerous tissues were obtained at the timeof surgery.Histological pattern,tumor staging,lymph node metastasis,grading ofdifferentiation and other clinical data werestudied in the medical records.RESULTS p16 expression of IM or Dys wassignificantly lower in positive H.pylori chronicatrophic gastritis(CAG)than those withnegative H.pylori(CAG:54.8% vs 88.0%,IM:34.4% vs 69.6%,Dys:23.8% vs 53.6%,allP<0.05),Bcl-2 or COX-2 expression of IM orDys in positive H.pylori cases was significantlyhigher than that without H.pylori(Bcl-2:68.8%vs23.9%,90.5% vs 60.7%;COX-2:50.0% vs10.8%,61.8% vs 17.8%;all P<0.05).Themean number of most parameters of cellularimage analysis in positive H.pylori group wassignificantly higher than that in negative H.pylori group(Ellipser:53±14,40±12μm,Area1:748±572,302±202 μm2,Area2:3050±1661,1681±1990 μm2,all P<0.05;Ellipseb:79±23,58±15 μm,Ratio1:22%±5%,13%±4%,Ratio2:79%±17%,53%±20%,all P<0.01).There was significant correlation between Bcl-2and histologic pattern of gastric carcinoma,andbetween COX-2 and tumor staging or lymph nodemetastasis(Bcl-2:75.0% vs 16.7%;COX-2:76.0% vs 20.0%,79.2% vs 16.7%;allP<0.05).CONCLUSION p1l6, Bcl-2, and COX-2 but not p53 gene may play a role in the early genesis/ progression of gastric carcinoma and are associated with H. pylori infection. p53 gene is relatively late event in gastric tumorigenesis and mainly relates to its progression. There is more cellular-biological behavior of malignant tumor in gastric mucosal lesions with H. pylori infection. Aberrant Bcl-2 protein expression appears to be preferentially associated with the intestinal type cancer. | 2 | Preparation of the UPOV Guidelines for the Conduct of Tests for Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability–Tea Plant [Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze]显示文摘Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability (DUS) testing is the technical base of Plant Variety Protection (PVP) and the scientific basis for the approval of Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR). DUS Test Guidelines are not only the technical manuals for the DUS testing authorities to conduct the testing, but also the technical standards for the competent authorities to examine the DUS of new varieties of plants. Tea plant, originated from Yunnan Province, China, is a very important woody cash species in the world. The International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) DUS Test Guidelines for tea plant is the first Test Guidelines prepared by China for the UPOV. In this article, the subject, selection, and determination of characteristics, states of expression of characteristics and the selection of example varieties, assessment of the UPOV DUS Test Guidelines for tea plant were elucidated in detail. Finally, the proposal of PVP for tea plant in China was also proposed. | 3 | Multiphase computed tomography radiomics of pancreatic intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms to predict malignancy显示文摘BACKGROUND Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms(IPMNs)are non-invasive pancreatic precursor lesions that can potentially develop into invasive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.Currently,the International Consensus Guidelines(ICG)for IPMNs provides the basis for evaluating suspected IPMNs on computed tomography(CT)imaging.Despite using the ICG,it remains challenging to accurately predict whether IPMNs harbor high grade or invasive disease which would warrant surgical resection.A supplementary quantitative radiological tool,radiomics,may improve diagnostic accuracy of radiological evaluation of IPMNs.We hypothesized that using CT whole lesion radiomics features in conjunction with the ICG could improve the diagnostic accuracy of predicting IPMN histology.AIM To evaluate whole lesion CT radiomic analysis of IPMNs for predicting malignant histology compared to International Consensus Guidelines.METHODS Fifty-one subjects who had pancreatic surgical resection at our institution with histology demonstrating IPMN and available preoperative CT imaging were included in this retrospective cohort.Whole lesion semi-automated segmentation was performed on each preoperative CT using Healthmyne software(Healthmyne,Madison,WI).Thirty-nine relevant radiomic features were extracted from each lesion on each available contrast phase.Univariate analysis of the 39 radiomics features was performed for each contrast phase and values were compared between malignant and benign IPMN groups using logistic regression.Conventional quantitative and qualitative CT measurements were also compared between groups,viaχ2(categorical)and Mann Whitney U(continuous)variables.RESULTS Twenty-nine subjects(15 males,age 71±9 years)with high grade or invasive tumor histology comprised the'malignant'cohort,while 22 subjects(11 males,age 70±7 years)with low grade tumor histology were included in the'benign'cohort.Radiomic analysis showed 18/39 precontrast,19/39 arterial phase,and 21/39 venous phase features differentiated malignant from benign IPMNs(P<0.05).Multivariate analysis including only ICG criteria yielded two significant variables:thickened and enhancing cyst wall and enhancing mural nodule<5 mm with an AUC(95%CI)of 0.817(0.709-0.926).Multivariable post contrast radiomics achieved an AUC(95%CI)of 0.87(0.767-0.974)for a model including arterial phase radiomics features and 0.834(0.716-0.953)for a model including venous phase radiomics features.Combined multivariable model including conventional variables and arterial phase radiomics features achieved an AUC(95%CI)of 0.93(0.85-1.0)with a 5-fold cross validation AUC of 0.90.CONCLUSION Multi-phase CT radiomics evaluation could play a role in improving predictive capability in diagnosing malignancy in IPMNs.Future larger studies may help determine the clinical significance of our findings. | Stuart L Polk Jung W Choi Melissa J McGettigan Trevor Rose Abraham Ahmed Jongphil Kim Kun Jiang Yoganand Balagurunathan Jin Qi Paola T Farah Alisha Rathi Jennifer B Permuth Daniel Jeong | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,24: | 5 |

The rise time was about 23 ns and the full width at half maximum was about 125 ns for the open-circuit photovoltaic pulse when the La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 thin film in the p-n junction was irradiated by a laser of ~20 ns pulse duration and 308 nm wavelength. | 5 | Evaluating the impact of thermostat control strategies on the energy flexibility of residential buildings for space heating显示文摘Buildings can be operated in an energy-flexible manner while respecting occupant thermal comfort.This energy flexibility of building operations,both in time and quantity,can be harnessed by the electrical grid for load balancing.In the context of smart grid and intelligent buildings,the concept of energy flexibility in buildings broadens the existing demand management thinking from the top-down one-way control to two-way communications.This paper,extending studies on thermostat controls of heating and air conditioning systems for demand response,evaluates the impact of different control schemes on the energy flexibility of residential buildings.Two control strategies,Model Predictive Control(MPC)and Rule-Based Control(RBC),are investigated for a space heating system using co-simulation studies.Four indicators are introduced and adapted from the literature to assess the control performances of the strategies.Simulation results show that different flexibility indicators favour different control strategies in this case study.For demand response events of four hours,the MPC strategy presents two to three times of flexible energy than that of RBC.MPC also delivers 20%more of maximum power reduction during the events against RBC.The RBC strategy,on the other hand,is twice of MPC for flexible energy efficiency.This evaluation work can be beneficial to guide the control system design of new buildings or control retrofits of existing buildings that consider better grid-building interactions for the future. | Kun Zhang Michaël Kummert | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,5: | 3 |
| 6 | Preparation of Al matrix nanocomposites by diluting the composite granules containing nano-SiCp under ultrasonic vibaration显示文摘In this work, an efficient process by diluting the nano-SiCp/Al composite granules in the molten matrix under ultrasonic vibration(UV) was developed to prepare metal matrix nano-composites(MMNCs).Millimeter-sized composite granules with high content of SiC particle(8 wt%) were specially fabricated by dry high-energy ball milling(HBM) without process control agent, and then remelted and diluted in molten Al alloy under UV. The MMNCs melt was finally squeeze cast under a squeeze pressure of 200 MPa, Microstructure of the composite granules during dry HBM was investigated, and the effect of UV on microstructure and mechanical properties of the MMNCs was discussed. The results indicate that nano-SiC particles are uniformly distributed in the nano-SiCp/Al composite granules, which are covered by vestures of pure Al. During diluting, nano-SiC particles released from the composite granules are quickly dispersed in the molten matrix by UV within 4 min. Microstructure of MMNCs is significantly refined under UV and squeeze casting, eutectic Si phase modified to fine islands with an average length of 1.4 μm. | 7 | A 3D Geological Model Constrained by Gravity and Magnetic Inversion and its Exploration Implications for the World-class Zhuxi Tungsten Deposit, South China显示文摘The Zhuxi tungsten deposit in Jiangxi Province,South China,contains a total W reserve of about 2.86 Mt at an average grade of 0.54 wt%WO3,representing the largest W deposit in the world.Numerous studies on the metallogeny of the deposit have included its timing,the ore-controlling structures and sedimentary host rocks and their implications for mineral exploration.However,the deep nappe structural style of Taqian-Fuchun metallogenic belt that hosts the W deposit,and the spatial shape and scale of deeply concealed intrusions and their sedimentary host rocks are still poorly defined,which seriously restricts the discovery of new deposits at depth and in surrounding areas of the W deposit.Modern 3 D geological modeling is an important tool for the exploration of concealed orebodies,especially in brownfield environments.There are obvious density contrast and weak magnetic contrast in the ore-controlling strata and granite at the periphery of the deposit,which lays a physical foundation for solving the 3 D spatial problems of the ore-controlling geological body in the deep part of the study area through gravity and magnetic modeling.Gravity data(1:50000)and aeromagnetic data(1:50000)from the latest geophysical surveys of 2016-2018 have been used,firstly,to carry out a potential field separation to obtain residual anomalies for gravity and magnetic interactive inversion.Then,on the basis of the analysis of the relationship between physical properties and lithology,under the constraints of surface geology and borehole data,human-computer interactive gravity and magnetic inversion for 18 cross-sections were completed.Finally,the 3 D geological model of the Zhuxi tungsten deposit and its periphery have been established through these 18 sections,and the spatial shape of the intrusions and strata with a depth of 5 km underground were obtained,initially realizing―transparency‖for ore-controlling bodies.According the analysis of the geophysical,geochemical,and geological characteristics of the Zhuxi tungsten deposit,we discern three principles for prospecting and prediction in the research area,and propose five new exploration targets in its periphery. | YAN Jiayong LÜ Qingtian QI Guang FU Guangming ZHANG Kun LAN Xueyi GUO Xin WEI Jin LUO Fan WANG Hao WANG Xu | 2020 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2020,94,6: | 3 |

The disordered structures are patterned on top of the double-metal waveguide of a THz quantum cascade laser. Multiple emission peaks are observed within a frequency range corresponding to the bandgap of a periodic counterpart with no disorder, indicating the presence of mode localization aided by Bragg scattering.
