1The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in the tumor microenvironment of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway regulates many aspects of tumor biology,and many studies have focused on the role of this signaling pathway in tumor cells.However,it is now clear that tumor development and metastasis depend on the two-way interaction between cancer cells and their environment,thereby forming a tumor microenvironment(TME).In this review,we discuss how Wnt/β-catenin signaling regulates cross-interactions among different components of the TME,including immune cells,stem cells,tumor vasculature,and noncellular components of the TME in hepatocellular carcinoma.We also investigate their preclinical and clinical insights for primary liver cancer intervention,and explore the significance of using Wnt/β-catenin mutations as a biomarker to predict resistance in immunotherapy.Kaiting Wang Xinyao Qiu Yan Zhao Hongyang Wang Lei Chen 2022Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,3:2

3Effect of alkyl chain length on the thermophysical properties of pyridinium carboxylates显示文摘In the present study, new series of pyridinium carboxylate protic ionic liquids(PILs) were synthesized by pairing pyridinium cation with carboxylate anion from C_1–C_3 forming pyridinium formate([C_5H_6N^+][HCOO^-]),pyridinium acetate([C_5H_6N^+][CH_3COO^-]) and pyridinium propionate([C_5H_6N^+][CH_3CH_2COO^-]) respectively.The physical properties namely, density, viscosity, surface tension(298.15–343.15) K, and refractive index(293.15–323.15) K were measured. Thermal properties namely, glass transition temperature, molar heat capacity, and thermal decomposition temperatures were also determined. The thermal expansivity was calculated using the experimental density data. The effect of increasing the alkyl chain length on the thermophysical properties of the pyridinium carboxylate PILs has been evaluated. As expected the physical properties i.e. density,viscosity, surface tension and refractive index of the investigated pyridinium carboxylates decreased with increasing temperature. In general pyridinium carboxylate PILs possessed low viscosity, high thermal stability and excellent hydrogen bonding capability, and these properties lead them to outperform conventional solvents employed for lignin dissolution.Tazien Rashid Chong Fai Kait Thanabalan Murugesan 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,9:1

20Magnolol and 5-fluorouracil synergy inhibition of metastasis of cervical cancer cells by targeting PI3K/AKT/mTOR and EMT pathways显示文摘Objective: This study is designed to investigate the mode of action of the synergistic effect of 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) and magnolol against cervical cancer.Methods: Network pharmacological approach was applied to predict the molecular mechanism of 5-FU combined with magnolol against cervical cancer. CCK-8 assay, colony formation assay, immunofluorescence staining, adhesion assay, wound healing mobility assay, cell migration and invasion assay and Western blot analysis were conducted to validate the results of in silico study.Results: Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT)/mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR) signaling pathway was identified as the key pathway in silico study. The experimental results showed that 5-FU combined with magnolol strongly inhibited cervical cancer cell proliferation, induced the morphological change of HeLa cells by down-regulating the expression of a-actinin, tensin-2 and vinculin. Moreover, magnolol enhanced inhibitory effect of 5-FU on the cell adhesion, migration and invasion. The phosphorylation of AKT and PI3K and the expression of mTOR were strongly inhibited by the combination of 5-FU and magnolol. Moreover, the expression of E-cadherin and β-catenin was upregulated and the expression of Snail, Slug and vimentin was down-regulated by the 5-FU together with magnolol.Conclusion: Taken together, this study suggests that 5-FU combined with magnolol exerts a synergistic anti-cervical cancer effect by regulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) signaling pathways.Yuanyuan Chen Shanshan Chen Kaiting Chen Lanfang Ji Shuna Cui 2024Chinese Herbal Medicines2024,16,1:0
