1Climatic niche evolution in Smilacaceae(Liliales)drives patterns of species diversification and richness between the Old and New World显示文摘Geographical variation in species richness in plant groups is determined by the interplay between historical,evolutionary,and ecological processes.However,the processes underlying the striking disparity in species richness between Asia and the Americas remain poorly understood.Here,we synthesize global phylogenetic and macroecological data on the diversification of Smilacaceae,deciphering potential drivers underlying the species diversity pattern biased toward Asia.We compiled global distributions of all Smilacaceae species,and reconstructed the biogeographic history and niche evolution using a new time-calibrated phylogeny(eight genes,135 species).Integrating these data sets,we estimated evolutionary histories and diversification rates for each region,and tested correlations among species diversification,niche evolution,and niche divergence.Smilacaceae probably originated during the Late Cretaceous/Early Palaeocene and began to diversify in middle to low latitudes in Central America and Eurasia during the Late Eocene.Both the Old and New World clades exhibited a steady,albeit slight,increase of species diversification from the Late Eocene to Early Miocene.However,the Old World clade experienced an abrupt increase in net diversification during the Late Miocene.Our findings also revealed that species diversification rates were positively correlated with ecological niche evolution and niche divergence.Niche shifts and climatic niche evolution since the Middle Miocene played crucial roles in species diversification dynamics within Smilacaceae.The high plant richness in Asia may be explained by greater diversification in this region,potentially promoted by heterogeneous environments.Zhe-Chen Qi Pan Li Jun-Jie Wu Alexander Gamisch Tuo Yang Yun-Peng Zhao Wu-Qing Xu Shi-Chao Chen Kenneth M.Cameron Ying-Xiong Qiu Cheng-Xin Fu 2023Journal of Systematics and Evolution2023,61,5:0
2Phylogenomics and integrative taxonomy reveal two new species of Amana(Liliaceae)显示文摘Until now the genus Amana(Liliaceae),known as ’East Asian tulips’,has contained just seven species.In this study,a phylogenomic and integrative taxonomic approach was used to reveal two new species,Amana nanyueensis from Central China and A.tianmuensis from East China.A.nanyueensis resembles Amana edulis in possessing a densely villous-woolly bulb tunic and two opposite bracts,but differs in its leaves and anthers.Amana tianmuensis resembles Amana erythronioides in possessing three verticillate bracts and yellow anthers,but differs in aspects of its leaves and bulbs.These four species are clearly separated from each other in principal components analysis based on morphology.Phylogenomic analyses based on plastid CDS further support the species delimitation of A.nanyueensis and A.tianmuensis and suggests they are closely related to A.edulis.Cytological analysis shows that A.nanyueensis and A tianmuensis are both diploid(2n=2x=24),different from A edulis,which is either diploid(northern populations) or tetraploid(southern populations,2n=4x=48).The pollen morphology of A.nanyueensis is similar to other Amana species(single-groove germination aperture),but A.tianmuensis is quite different because of the presence of a sulcus membrane,which creates the illusion of double grooves.Ecological niche modelling also revealed a niche differentiation between A.edulis,A.nanyueensis and A.tianmuensis.Mei-Zhen Wang Xiao-Kai Fan Yong-Hua Zhang Jing Wu Li-Mi Mao Sheng-Lu Zhang Min-Qi Cai Ming-Hong Li Zhang-Shi-Chang Zhu Ming-Shui Zhao Lu-Xian Liu Kenneth M.Cameron Pan Li 2023Plant Diversity2023,45,1:0
