| 1 | Comparison of photosynthesis and antioxidative protection in Sophora moorcroftiana and Caragana maximovicziana under water stress显示文摘This study aims to investigate the protective roles of photosynthetic characteristics and antioxidative systems in the desiccation tolerance of Sophora moorcroftiana and Caragana maximovicziana as they adapt to arid environments. A variety of physiological and biochemical parameters in the leaves of two Leguminosae species were monitored for 1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 d of drought stress. Soil water content decreased from 38.58% to 7.33% after exposure to 28 d of water stress. The photosynthetic carbon-assimilation rates of the two Leguminosae plants decreased for non-stomatal limitation with processing water stress. The malondialdehyde content and cell membrane relative conductivity of the two species increased significantly from 1 to 21 d and then decreased. S. moorcroftiana showed higher superoxide dismutase and peroxidase activities than C. maximovicziana during the 28 d treatment period. However, the catalase activities and proline content of C. maximovicziana were higher than those of S. moorcroftiana before the water stress treatment reached 21 d. Nine physiological and biochemical parameters were selected to comprehensively evaluate the two species' drought-resistance by the membership function values(MFV). The mean MFV indicated that S. moorcroftiana has a relatively stronger drought defense capability than C. maximovicziana. | 3 | Comparative study on the chloroplast genomes of five Larix species from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the screening of candidate DNA markers显示文摘Five Larix species(L.griffithii,L.speciose,L.himalaica,L.kongboensis,and L.potaninii var.australis),have survived on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)under specific climate conditions for decades.The lack of genomic information seriously hinders research on the evolution,conservation and ecology of these Larix resources.In this study,complete chloroplast(cp)genomes of the 5 species were assembled and compared based on next generation sequencing technology combined with polymerase chain reaction validation.The results show that the 5 cp genomes are relatively conservative in size,gene content and arrangement,and border variation.Phylogenetic analysis showed that the species are closely related as well as to seven other species of the same genus.In addition,the 5 cp genomes contained few simple sequence repeats and relatively low nucleotide variability;thus,12 candidate polymorphic cp DNA markers will be helpful for further research on relevant population genetics.These results will provide valuable genetic information for the conservation,evolution and ecology of these species and their relatives. | Qiqiang Guo Huie Li Zengqiang Qian Jie Lu Weilie Zheng | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,5: | 1 |

| 9 | Projecting the potential distribution and analyzing the bioclimatic factors of four Rhododendron subsect.Tsutsusi species under climate warming显示文摘Tsutsusi is one of the eight subgenera of the Rhododendron genus.Four Tsutsusi species,R.indicum,R.simisii,R.oldhamii,and R.schlippenbachii,have high ornamental and medicinal values,resulting in an increasing market demand.These species thrive in cool and humid environments and are widely distributed in Europe and Asia.Whether global climate warming will affect the distribution of these valuable resources remains unclear.Thus,this study analyzed the climatic suitability of these species for the first time on the basis of 1552 geographical distribution points and 19 bioclimatic factors using the maximum entropy model.The results show that a suitable distribution area for all four species would decrease under climate warming.The main bioclimatic factors affecting their distribution are the mean temperature of the coldest quarter for R.indicum,the mean diurnal range for R.simisii,and precipitation of the warmest quarter for R.oldhamii and R.schlippenbachii.In addition,the contribution of the temperature-related bioclimatic factors to the distribution of R.indicum and R.simisii is higher than that of the associated precipitation-related climatic factors;in contrast,the contribution of precipitation-related bioclimatic factors to the distribution of R.oldhamii and R.schlippenbachii is higher than that of the temperature-related climatic factors.These results provide references for the introduction,conservation,sustainable development,and utilization of these four species in the future,and may also provide information with regards to other Rhododendron species. | Lan Yang Huie Li | 2023 | Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,6: | 0 |
| 10 | Origins,timing and introgression of domestic geese revealed by whole genome data显示文摘Background Geese are among the most important poultry species in the world.The current generally accepted hypothesis is that the European domestic geese originated from greylag geese(Anser anser),and Chinese domestic geese have two origins,most of which originated from swan geese(Anser cygnoides),and the Yili goose originated from greylag geese.To explain the origin and demographic history of geese,we selected 14 goose breeds from Europe and China and wild populations of swan and greylag geese,and whole genome sequencing data were obtained for 74 samples.Results Population structure analysis and phylogenetic trees showed that the wild ancestor of Chinese domestic geese,except for Yili,is the swan geese,and the wild ancestor of Chinese Yili and European domestic geese is greylag geese.Analysis of the demographic history suggests that the domestication of Chinese geese occurred~3499 years ago and that of the European geese occurred~7552 years ago.Furthermore,gene flow was observed between domestic geese and their wild ancestors.Analysis of introgression showed that Yili geese had been introgressed by Chinese domestic geese,and the body size of Yili geese may be influenced by introgression events of some growthrelated genes,including IGF-1.Conclusions Our study provides evidence for the origin of geese at the genome-wide level and advances the understanding of the history of goose domestication and the traits affected by introgression events. | Junhui Wen Haiying Li Huie Wang Jincheng Yu Tao Zhu Jinxin Zhang Xinghua Li Zhihua Jiang Zhonghua Ning Lujiang Qu | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,3: | 0 |
| 11 | Analysis of genetic diversity and prediction of Larix species distribution in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau,China显示文摘Larix resources in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau have important ecological and economic values.However,the lack of genetic diversity background and related research hinders the development of conservation strategies.In this study,genetic diversity and distribution of fi ve Larix species were investigated.Using 19 polymorphic microsatellite markers to study 272 representative individuals from 13 populations,the results show low genetic diversity at the population level,with variation explained mainly by diff erentiation among populations.The Larix populations were classifi ed into two clades,one formed by eight populations,including three of the species in this study,L.kongboensis,L.speciosa,and L.potaninii var.australis.The other clade consists of fi ve populations,including the other two species in this study,L.griffi thii and L.himalaica.Genetic distance of the species was aff ected by geographical isolation and genetic diversity was mainly aff ected by altitude.The area suitable for Larix spp.decreased during the Last Glacial Maximum compared to the current distribution according to the niche model,but should increase in future climate scenarios(2050s),expanding westward along the Himalayas.These results provide an important scientifi c basis for the development of conservation strategies and further the sustainable utilization of Larix resources in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. | Qiqiang Guo Huie Li Weilie Zheng Jinwen Pan Jie Lu Jiangrong Li Yu Zheng | 2023 | Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,3: | 0 |
