| 4 | Mating behaviors in ovoviviparous black rockfish(Sebastes schlegelii):molecular function of prostaglandin E2 as both a hormone and pheromone显示文摘Prostaglandins(PGs)are profound hormones in teleost sexual behavior,especially in mating.PGs act as pheromones that affect the olfactory sensory neurons of males,inducing the initiation of a series of mating behaviors.However,the molecular mechanism by which PGs trigger mating behavior in ovoviviparous teleosts is still unclear.In the present study,we employed the ovoviviparous black rockfish(Sebastes schlegelii),an economically important marine species whose reproductive production is limited by incomplete fertilization,as a model species.The results showed that when the dose of PGE2 was higher than 10 nmol/L,a significant(P<0.05)increase in mating behaviors was observed.Dual-fluorescence in situ hybridization indicated that PGE2 could fire specific neurons in different brain regions and receptor cells in the olfactory sac.After combining with specific neurons in the central nervous system(CNS),a series of genes related to reproduction are activated.The intracerebroventricular administration of PGE_(2) significantly increased lhb levels(P<0.05)in both sexes.Moreover,steroidogenesis in gonads was also affected,inducing an increase(P<0.05)in E_(2) levels in males and T levels in females.PGE_(2) levels were also increased significantly(P<0.05)in both sexes.The present study revealed that PGE2 can activate mating behavior in black rockfish in both hormone and pheromone pathways,leading to variations in sex steroid levels and activation of reproductive behaviors.Our results provide not only novel insight into the onset of mating behaviors in ovoviviparous teleosts but also solutions for the incomplete fertilization caused by natural mating in cage aquaculture. | Likang Lyu Yijia Yao Songyang Xie Xiaojie Wang Haishen Wen Yun Li Jianshuang Li Chenpeng Zuo Shaojing Yan Jingyi Dong Xin Qi | 2024 | Marine Life Science & Technology2024,6,1: | 0 |

At the interfaces, three mortar conditions, one for the value of solution in pointwise way, the other two for the normal and tangential derivatives of the solution in projection way, are provided to secure the global convergence. | 6 | Monodispersed ultrathin twisty PdBi alloys nanowires assemblies with tensile strain enhance C_(2+)alcohols electrooxidation显示文摘Direct alcohol fuel cells(DAFCs)are powered by the alcohol electro-oxidation reaction(AOR),where an electrocatalyst with an optimal electronic structure can accelerate the sluggish AOR.Interestingly,strain engineering in hetero-catalysis offers a promising route to boost their catalytic activity.Herein,we report on a class of monodispersed ultrathin twisty PdBi alloy nanowires(TNWs)assemblies with face-centered structures that drive AORs.These thin nanowire structures expose a large number of reactive sites.Strikingly,Pd_(6)Bi_(1)TNWs show an excellent current density of 2066,3047,and 1231 mA mg_(Pd)^(-1)for oxidation of ethanol,ethylene glycol,and glycerol,respectively.The“volcano-like”behaviors observed on PdBi TNWs for AORs indicate that the maximum catalytic mass activity is a well balance between active intermediates and blocking species at the interface.This study offers an effective and universal method to build novel nanocatalysts in various applications by rationally designing highly efficient catalysts with specific strain. | Xianzhuo Lao Ze Li Likang Yang Ben Zhang Wanneng Ye Aiping Fu Peizhi Guo | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,4: | 0 |
| 7 | Mechanical property and biological behaviour of additive manufactured TiNi functionally graded lattice structure显示文摘Bio-inspired porous metallic scaffolds have tremendous potential to be used as artificial bone substitutes.In this work,a radially graded lattice structure (RGLS),which mimics the structures of natural human bones,was designed and processed by laser powder bed fusion of martensitic Ti-rich TiNi powder.The asymmetric tension-compression behaviour,where the compressive strength is significantly higher than the tensile strength,is observed in this Ti-rich TiNi material,which echoes the mechanical behaviour of bones.The morphologies,mechanical properties,deformation behaviour,and biological compatibility of RGLS samples were characterised and compared with those in the uniform lattice structure.Both the uniform and RGLS samples achieve a relative density higher than 99%.The graded porosities and pore sizes in the RGLS range from 40%-80% and 330-805 µm,respectively,from the centre to the edge.The chemical etching has significantly removed the harmful partially-melted residual powder particles on the lattice struts.The compressive yield strength of RGLS is 71.5 MPa,much higher than that of the uniform sample (46.5 MPa),despite having a similar relative density of about 46%.The calculated Gibson-Ashby equation and the deformation behaviour simulation by finite element suggest that the dense outer regions with high load-bearing capability could sustain high applied stress,improving the overall strength of RGLS significantly.The cell proliferation study suggests better biological compatibility of the RGLS than the uniform structures.The findings highlight a novel strategy to improve the performance of additively manufactured artificial implants by bio-inspiration. | Chaolin Tan Cheng Deng Sheng Li Alessandro Abena Parastoo Jamshidi Khamis Essa Likang Wu Guohua Xu Moataz M Attallah Jia Liu | 2022 | International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2022,4,4: | 0 |
