| 2 | Draining Tangjiashan Barrier Lake after Wenchuan Earthquake and the flood propagation after the dam break显示文摘Tangjiashan Barrier Lake is one of the largest barrier lakes caused by the Wenchuan Earthquake. Its risk analysis, emergency plan and effect of the emergency plan are introduced in this paper. The dam height of Tangjiashan Barrier Dam is about 105 m, and the reservoir storage capacity is 3.2×108 m3. When the dam broke the flood peak were estimated to be larger than 48000 m3/s, which might cause a enormous disaster to the downstream cities and residents. A discharge channel with 13 m deep and 8 m wide was drug, so that the water may flow out of the lake before the dam breaks. As a result, the drainage and risk mitigation project are successful. During the drainage process, the flood peak was about 6500 m3/s, and about 1.6×108 m3 of water was drained off and the residual reservoir capacity was only 8.97×107 m3. A new channel with average width 100 m was formed, which can bear floods of 200 years frequency. | 4 | Mitochondrial DNA A1555G mutation screening using a testing kit method and its significance in preventing aminoglycoside-related hearing loss显示文摘To report a new screening method for mitochondrial DNA 1555A→G mutation and the results of genotype analysis in 19 maternal inherited deafness pedigrees. Method Five hundred and forty-six non-syndromic neuro-sensory hearing loss patients were tested for 1555A→G mutation using a new compact testing kit, which allows clear distinction between wild type and 1555 A→G mutated mtDNAs. Results Nineteen subjects among the 546 patients (3.48%) were found to carry mtDNA A1555G mutation. The results were confirmed by sequencing in an ABI 3100 Avant sequencer. Conclusions Maternal inherited deafness families are a frequently seen in outpatient group. | 7 | Prevalence of the GJB2 Mutations in Deafness Patients of Different Ethnic Origins in Xinjiang显示文摘Objective To investigate GJB2 mutation prevalences in the Uigur and Han ethnic groups in Xinjiang, China, and determine the relationship between ethnicity and GJB2 gene mutations. Methods Information regarding ethnicity of patients' families was obtained through medical records review and/or patient interview. Blood samples were collected from 61 Uigurs and 66 Hans for direct sequencing of the coding region and intron/exon boundaries of the GBJ2 gene. Results Carrier frequency of GJB2 mutations was similar between the Uigur and Han subjects. The GJB2 35delG mutation was seen only in Uigur patients with hearing loss, whereas the 235delC mutation was identified in both Uigur and Han patients. The allelic Frequency of 35delG mutation was 7.4% (9/122) in Uigur deaf students, but none in Han deaf students (0/128) and Uigur controls (0/196). The allelic frequency of GJB2 235delC mutation in Uigur and Han deaf students was 5.7% and 9.8%, and that of 299-300delAT mutation was 0.8% and 5.5%, respectively. V27I and E114G were the most frequent types of polymorphism. Conclusion We found an Asian-specific GJB2 diversity among Uigurs, and comparable GJB2 contribution to deafness in Uigur and Han patients. The high carrier frequency of 35delG in Uigurs (11.5%) is probably defined by gene drift/founder effect in a particular group. | 11 | Studies on Barriers for Promotion of Clean Technology in SMEs of China显示文摘After more than 10 years efforts on awareness raising and promotion, the concept of cleaner production (CP) has been adopting as a strategic approach to balance economic benefits and environmental protection for China’s industries. However, it is also found that clean technology is difficult to be adopted and implemented in Chinese Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) because of certain barriers. This paper investigates these barriers among three stakeholders--governments, enterprises and experts. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed to prioritize the relative importance of the twenty fine-selected barriers, which were classified into four barrier categories. The findings reveal that the exterior barriers of policy and financial barriers should be stressed rather than the inner barriers of technical and managerial barriers, although they are also very important. The results show that the process parameters affect the surface quality of a pure copper ingot by affecting the position of the liquid-solid interface in the mould. The position of the liquid-solid interface in the mould must be controlled carefully within an appropriate range, which is determined through a series of experiments, in order to gain a single crystal copper ingot with good surface quality. | G.
