| 1 | Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: An update显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the predominant cause of chronic liver disease worldwide.NAFLD progresses in some cases to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),which is characterized,in addition to liver fat deposition,by hepatocyte ballooning,inflammation and liver fibrosis,and in some cases may lead to hepatocellular carcinoma.NAFLD prevalence increases along with the rising incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Currently,lifestyle interventions and weight loss are used as the major therapeutic strategy in the vast majority of patients with NAFLD.Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1RAs)are used in the management of T2DM and do not have major side effects like hypoglycemia.In patients with NAFLD,the GLP-1 receptor production is down-regulated.Recently,several animal and human studies have emphasized the role of GLP-1RAs in ameliorating liver fat accumulation,alleviating the inflammatory environment and preventing NAFLD progression to NASH.In this review,we summarize the updated literature data on the beneficial effects of GLP-1RAs in NAFLD/NASH.Finally,as GLP-1RAs seem to be an attractive therapeutic option for T2DM patients with concomitant NAFLD,we discuss whether GLP-1RAs should represent the first line pharmacotherapy for these patients. | Areti Sofogianni Athanasios Filippidis Lampros Chrysavgis Konstantinos Tziomalos Evangelos Cholongitas | 2020 | World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,8: | 5 |

| 3 | Effect of glycemic control on markers of subclinical atherosclerosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus:A review显示文摘Cardiovascular disease is the predominant cause of death in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Evidence suggests a strong association between duration and degree of hyperglycemia and vascular disease.However,large trials failed to show cardiovascular benefit after intensive glycemic control,especially in patients with longer diabetes duration.Atherosclerosis is a chronic and progressive disease,with a long asymptomatic phase.Subclinical atherosclerosis,which is impaired in T2DM,includes impaired vasodilation,increased coronary artery calcification(CAC),carotid intima media thickness,arterial stiffness,and reduced arterial elasticity.Each of these alterations is represented by a marker of subclinical atherosclerosis,offering a cost-effective alternative compared to classic cardiac imaging.Their additional use on top of traditional risk assessment strengthens the predictive risk for developing coronary artery disease(CAD).We,herein,review the existing literature on the effect of glycemic control on each of these markers separately.Effective glycemic control,especially in earlier stages of the disease,attenuates progression of structural markers like intima-media thickness and CAC.Functional markers are improved after use of newer antidiabetic agents,such as incretin-based treatments or sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors,especially in T2DM patients with shorter disease duration.Larger prospective trials are needed to enhance causal inferences of glycemic control on clinical endpoints of CAD. | Sofia Antoniou Katerina K K Naka Marios Papadakis Aris Bechlioulis Agathocles Tsatsoulis Lampros K Michalis Stelios Tigas | 2021 | World Journal of Diabetes2021,12,11: | 2 |

| 12 | Stress and Springback Analyses of API X70 Pipeline Steel Under 3-Roller Bending via Finite Element Method显示文摘3-Roller bending is a widely applied manufacturing process, particularly in structural steel pipe industry.However, due to the difficulty and high cost of measuring stress distribution inside sheet material via traditional method,internal stress/strain response during forming is largely unexplored. The focuses of this study are two:(1) to map the radii of curvature as well as the stress inside the work piece during forming by utilizing the meshing mechanism of finite element method, and(2) to further provide some numeric guidelines for the configuration of the rolling system in order to improve production efficiency and product quality. | 18 | Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma:Clinical challenges of an intriguing link显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has emerged as the most common liver disorder worldwide mainly attributed to the epidemic spread of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.Although it is considered a benign disease,NAFLD can progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis,liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Most data regarding the epidemiology of NAFLD-related HCC are derived from cohort and population studies and show that its incidence is increasing as well as it is likely to emerge as the leading indication for liver transplantation,especially in the Western World.Although cirrhosis constitutes the main risk factor for HCC development,in patients with NAFLD,HCC can arise in the absence of cirrhosis,indicating specific carcinogenic molecular pathways.Since NAFLD as an underlying liver disease for HCC is often underdiagnosed due to lack of sufficient surveillance in this population,NAFLDHCC patients are at advanced HCC stage at the time of diagnosis making the management of those patients clinically challenging and affecting their prognostic outcomes.In this current review,we summarize the latest literature on the epidemiology,other than liver cirrhosis-pathogenesis,risk factors and prognosis of NAFLD-HCC patients.Finally,we emphasize the prevention of the development of NAFLD-associated HCC and we provide some insight into the open questions and issues regarding the appropriate surveillance policies for those patients. | Lampros Chrysavgis Ilias Giannakodimos Panagiota Diamantopoulou Evangelos Cholongitas | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,3: | 1 |
