Identification of a novel coronavirus causing severe pneumonia in human:a descriptive study显示文摘Background:Human infections with zoonotic coronaviruses(CoVs),including severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS)-CoV,have raised great public health concern globally. Here,we report a novel batorigin CoV causing severe and fatal pneumonia in humans. Methods:We collected clinical data and bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)specimens from five patients with severe pneumonia from Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,Hubei province,China.Nucleic acids of the BAL were extracted and subjected to next-generation sequencing.Virus isolation was carried out,and maximum-likelihood phylogenetic trees were constructed. Results:Five patients hospitalized from December 18 to December 29,2019 presented with fever, cough, and dyspnea accompanied by complications of acute respiratory distress syndrome.Chest radiography revealed diffuse opacities and consolidation. One of these patients died.Sequence results revealed the presence of a previously unknownβ-CoV strain in all five patients, with 99.8%to 99.9%nucleotide identities among the isolates. These isolates showed 79.0%nucleotide identity with the sequence of SARS-CoV(GenBank NC_004718)and 51.8%identity with the sequence of MERS-CoV(GenBank NC_019843).The virus is phylogenetically closest to a bat SARS-like CoV(SL-ZC45,GenBank MG772933)with 87.6%to 87.7%nucleotide identity, but is in a separate clade. Moreover, these viruses have a single intact open reading frame gene 8,as a further indicator of bat-origin CoVs.However, the amino acid sequence of the tentative receptor-binding domain resembles that of SARS-CoV,indicating that these viruses might use the same receptor. Conclusion:A novel bat-borne CoV was identified that is associated with severe and fatal respiratory disease in humans.Li-Li Ren Ye-Ming Wang Zhi-Qiang Wu Zi-Chun Xiang Li Guo Teng Xu Yong-Zhong Jiang Yan Xiong Yong-Jun Li Xing-Wang Li Hui Li Guo-Hui Fan Xiao-Ying Gu Yan Xiao Hong Gao Jiu-Yang Xu Fan Yang Xin-Ming Wang Chao Wu Lan Chen Yi-Wei Liu Bo Liu Jian Yang Xiao-Rui Wang Jie Dong Li Li Chao-Lin Huang Jian-Ping Zhao Yi Hu Zhen-Shun Cheng Un-Lin Liu Zhao-Hui Qian Chuan Qin Qi Jin Bin Cao Jian-Wei Wang 2020Chinese Medical Journal2020,,9:99

Expression of gastric cancer-associated MG7 antigen in gastric cancer, precancerous lesions and H.pylori-associated gastric diseases显示文摘AIM: To investigate the relationship between the antigen MG7 antigen expression and gastric cancer as well as precancerous condition; to study the relationship between the MG7 antigen expression and H. pyloriinfection in benign gastric lesions in order to find out the effect of H. pylori infection on the process of gastric cancer development.METHODS: The level of MG7 antigen expression was determined by immunohistochemical method in 383 gastric biopsied materials. The intestinal metaplasia was determined by histochemistry method. The H. pyloriinfection was determined by HE stain, PCR and ELISA in 291 specimens, among which only 34 cases of H. pylori-associated gastric lesions were followed up.RESULTS: The positive rate of MG7 expression in normal gastric mucosa, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia and gastric cancer increased gradually in ascending order (P<0.01). The positive rate of MG7 antigen expression in type Ⅲ intestinal metaplasia of gastric mucosa was higher than that of type Ⅰand Ⅱ intestinal metaplasia, being highly significant (P<0.05).The positive rate of MG7 antigen expression in superficial gastritis, atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer increased gradually (11.9 %, 64.8 %, 91.2 %, P<0.01). There was no significant difference between H.pylori-negative and H. pyloripositive intestinal metaplasia, atrophic gastritis and dysplasia of gastric epithelium in the positive rate of MG7 antigen expression. There was no expression of MG7 antigen in H. pylori-negative superficial gastritis. The positive rate of MG7 expression in H. pylori-positive superficial gastritis was 20.5 %, and the difference between them was significant (P<0.05). During following up, one of the three H. pylori negative cases turned positive again, and its MG7 antigen expression turned to be stronger correspondingly. 3 of 31 H. pyloripositive cases were detected as early gastric cancer, among which one with '+++' MG7 antigen expression was diminished after H. pylori eradication.CONCLUSION: MG7 antigen expression is highly specific in gastric cancer and can be used as a good marker for screening of gastric cancer; type Ⅲ intestinal metaplasia, atrophic gastritis and dysplasia should be followed up and MG7 antigen expression has high clinical value in the dynamic follow-up study; although the positive -MG7 in positiveH. pylorisuperficial gastritis show benign morphology in features, there is still the potential risk of developing into gastric cancer, hence special attention should be paid to those showing increasing MG7 antigen expression.Dong-Li Guo Ming Dong Lan Wang Li-Ping Sun Yuan Yuan,Cancer Institute,First Affiliated Hospital,China Medical University,Shenyang,110001,Liaoning Province,China 2002World Journal of Gastroenterology2002,8,6:37
Helicobacter pylori infection generated gastric cancer through p53-Rb tumor-suppressor system mutation and telomerase reactivation显示文摘AIM: To investigate the relationship between Helicobacterpylori (H. pylori) infection and the expressions of the p53,Rb, c-myc, bcl-2 and hTERT mRNA in a series of diseasesfrom chronic gastritis (CG), intestinal metaplasia type Ⅰ or Ⅱ(IMⅠ-Ⅱ), intestinal metaplasia type Ⅲ (IMⅢ), mild or modestdysplasia (DysⅠ-Ⅱ), severe dysplasia (DysⅢ) to gastric cancer(GC) and to elucidate the mechanism of gastriccarcinogenesis relating to H.pyloriinfection.METHODS: 272 cases between 1998 and 2001 wereavailable for the study including 42 cases of CG, 46 cases ofIMⅠ-Ⅱ, 25 cases of IMⅢ, 48 cases of DysⅠ-Ⅱ, 27 cases ofDysⅢ, 84 cases of GC.-H. pyloriinfection and the expressionsof p53, Rb, c-myc, bcl-2 were detected by means ofstreptavidin-peroxidase (SP) immunohistochemical method.HTERT mRNA was detected byin situ hybridization(ISH).RESULTS: The expressions of p53, Rb, c-myc, hTERT mRNAand bcl-2 were higher in the GC than in CG, IN, Dys. Theexpression of c-myc was higher in IMⅢ with-H.pyloriinfection(10/16) than that without infection (1/9) and the positive ratein DysⅠ-Ⅱ and DysⅢ with-H.pyloriinfection was 18/30 and 13/17, respectively, higher than that without infection (4/18 and3/10, respectively). In our experiment mutated p53 had noassociation with H.pyloriinfection, theexpression of Rb wasassociated with-H. pyloriinfection in GC, but the p53-Rb tumor-suppressor system abnormal in DysⅠ-Ⅱ cases, DysⅢⅡ and GCcases with H. pyloriinfection was 21/30, 15/17 and 48/48respecively, higher than non-infection groups (4/18, 3/10, 28/36). Furthermore the level of hTERT mRNA in GC with H. pyloriinfection (47/48) was higher than that without infection (30/36), however the relationship between bcl-2 and H. pyloriwasonly in IMⅢ. C-myc had a close association with hTERT mRNAin DysⅢ and GC (P=0.0 253,0.0 305 respectively).CONCLUSION: In the gastric carcinogenesis, H. pylorimightcause the severe imbalance of proliferation and apoptosisin the precancerous lesions (IMⅢ and GysⅢ) first, leadingto p53-Rb tumor-suppressor system mutation and telomerasereactivation, and finally causes gastric cancer.Jing Lan Yong-Yan Xiong Yi-Xian Lin Bi-Cheng Wang Ling-Ling Gong Hui-Sen Xu Guang-Song Guo Department of Pathology,Zhongnan Hospital,Wuhan University,Wuhan city 430071,Hubei Province,China 2003World Journal of Gastroenterology2003,9,1:39
Type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ Helicobacter pylori infection status and their impact on gastrin and pepsinogen level in a gastric cancer prevalent area显示文摘BACKGROUND Type I Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection causes severe gastric inflammation and is a predisposing factor for gastric carcinogenesis. However, its infection status in stepwise gastric disease progression in this gastric cancer prevalent area has not been evaluated;it is also not known its impact on commonly used epidemiological gastric cancer risk markers such as gastrin-17(G-17)and pepsinogens(PGs)during clinical practice.AIM To explore the prevalence of type I and type II H.pylori infection status and their impact on G-17 and PG levels in clinical practice.METHODS Thirty-five hundred and seventy-two hospital admitted patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms were examined, and 523 patients were enrolled in this study.H.pylori infection was confirmed by both 13C-urea breath test and serological assay.Patients were divided into non-atrophic gastritis(NAG),nonatrophic gastritis with erosion(NAGE),chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG),peptic ulcers(PU)and gastric cancer(GC)groups.Their serological G-17,PG I and PG II values and PG I/PG II ratio were also measured.RESULTS A total H.pylori infection rate of 3572 examined patients was 75.9%,the infection rate of 523 enrolled patients was 76.9%,among which type I H.pylori infection accounted for 72.4%(291/402)and type II was 27.6%;88.4%of GC patients were H.pylori positive, and 84.2%of them were type I infection, only 11.6%of GC patients were H.pylori negative.Infection rates of type I H.pylori in NAG,NAGE,CAG,PU and GC groups were 67.9%,62.7%,79.7%,77.6%and 84.2%,respectively.H.pylori infection resulted in significantly higher G-17 and PG II values and decreased PG I/PG II ratio. Both types of H.pylori induced higher G-17 level, but type I strain infection resulted in an increased PG II level and decreased PG I/PG II ratio in NAG,NAGE and CAG groups over uninfected controls.Overall PG I levels showed no difference among all disease groups and in the presence or absence of H.pylori;in stratified analysis, its level was increased in GC and PU patients in H.pylori and type I H.pylori-positive groups.CONCLUSION Type I H.pylori infection is the major form of infection in this geographic region, and a very low percentage(11.6%)of GC patients are not infected by H.pylori.Both types of H.pylori induce an increase in G-17 level, while type I H.pylori is the major strain that affects PG I and PG IIs level and PG I/PG II ratio in stepwise chronic gastric disease. The data provide insights into H.pylori infection status and indicate the necessity and urgency for bacteria eradication and disease prevention in clinical practice.Lin Yuan Jun-Bo Zhao Ying-Lei Zhou Ya-Bin Qi Qiong-Ya Guo Hai-Hui Zhang Muhammad Noman Khan Ling Lan Chang-He Jia Yan-Rui Zhang Song-Ze Ding 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,25:29

Expenditure and financial burden for the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in China:a hospital.based,multicenter,cross-sectional survey显示文摘Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China. Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure. Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more, whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic, and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. The financial burden varied among subgroups, especially among patients with different clinical stages of disease, which suggests that, in China, CRC screening might be cost-effective.Hui-Yao Huang Ju-Fang Shi Lan-Wei Guo Ya-Na Bai Xian-Zhen Liao Guo-iangLiu A-Yan Mao Jian-Song Ren Xiao-Jie Sun Xin-Yu Zhu Le Wang Bing-Bing Song Ling-Bin Du Lin Zhu Ji-Yong Gong Qi Zhou Yu-Qin Liu Rong Cao Ling Mai Li Lan Xiao-Hua Sun Ying Ren Jin-Yi Zhou Yuan-Zheng Wang Xiao Qi Pei-An Lou Dian Shi Ni Li Kai Zhang Jie He Min Dai 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,8:25
Effects of Short-Term Forest Bathing on Human Health in a Broad-Leaved Evergreen Forest in Zhejiang Province,China显示文摘Objective To investigate the effects of short-term forest bathing on human health. Methods Twenty healthy male university students participated as subjects and were randomly divided into two groups of 10.One group was sent on a two-night trip to a broad-leaved evergreen forest, and the other was sent to a city area.Serum cytokine levels reflecting inflammatory and stress response, indicators reflecting oxidative stress, the distribution of leukocyte subsets, and plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1) concentrations were measured before and after the experiment to evaluate the positive health effects of forest environments.A profile of mood states (POMS) evaluation was used to assess changes in mood states. Results No significant differences in the baseline values of the indicators were observed between the two groups before the experiment.Subjects exposed to the forest environment showed reduced oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory level,as evidenced by decreased malondialdehyde,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor α levels compared with the urban group.Serum cortisol levels were also lower than in the urban group.Notably, the concentration of plasma ET-1 was much lower in subjects exposed to the forest environment. The POMS evaluation showed that after exposure to the forest environment, subjects had lower scores in the negative subscales, and the score for vigor was increased. Conclusion Forest bathing is beneficial to human health, perhaps through preventive effects related to several pathological factors.MAO Gen Xiang LAN Xiao Guang CAO Yong Bao CHEN Zhuo Mei HE Zhi Huat LV Yuan Dong WANG Ya Zhen HU Xi Lian WANG Guo Fu YAN Jing 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3:20

Effect of L-NAME on nitric oxide and gastrointestinal motility alterations in cirrhotic rats显示文摘AIM: To invsstigare the effect of L-NAME on nitric oxide andgastriubtestubal motility alterations in cirrhotic ratsMETHODS: Rats with cirrhosis induced by carbontetrachloride were randomly divided into two groups, one( n= 13) receiving 0. 5 mg@ kg-1 per clay of NG-nitro-L-argininemethyl ester (L-NAME), a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, for 10 days, whereas the other group ( n = 13) and control( n = 10) rats were administrated the same volume of 9 g@ L-1saline.Half gastric emptying time and 2 h residual rate weremeasured by SPECT, using 99m Tc-DTPA-labeled bariumsuifate as test meal. Gastrointestinal transition time wasrecorded simultaneously. Serum concentration of nitrcoxide (NO) was determined by the kinetic cadmiunreduction and colorimetric methods. ImmunohistochemicalSABC method was used to observe the expression anddistribution of three types of nitric oxide synthase (NOS)isoforms in the mt gastrointestinal tract. Western blot wasused to detect expression of gastrointestinal NOS isoforms.RESULTS: Half gastric emptying time and trans-gastrointestinal time were significantly prolonged( 124.0 ± 26.4min; 33.7± 8.9min;72.1 ± 15.3 min; P<0.01), (12.4±0.5h; 9.5±0.3 h; 8.2±0.8 h; P<0.01), 2h residual rate wasraised in cirrhotic rots than in controls and cirrhotic ratstreated with L-NAME(54.9± 7.6 % ,13.7 ± 3.2 %, 34.9± 10.3%, P< 0.01). Serum concentration of NO was significantlyincreased in cirrhotic rots than in the other groups (8.20 ± 2.48)μmol@L-1, (5.94± 1.07) μmol@L-1 ,and control (5.66± 1.60) tμmol@L-1, P< 0.01. NOS staining intensities which weremainly located in the gastrointestinal tissues were markedlylower in cirrhotic rats than in the controls and cirrhotic ratsafter treated with L- NAME.CONCLUSION: Gastrointestinal motility was remarkablyinhibited in cirrhotic rats, which could he alleviated by L-NAME. Nitric oxide may play an important role in theinhibition of gastrointestinal motility in cirrhotic rats.Xin Wang Zong-You Zhang Mei Lan Ji-Yan Miao Xue-Gang Guo Yong-Quan Shi Yan-Qiu Zhao Jie Ding Kai-Cun Wu Dai-Ming Fan,Institute of Digestive disease,Xijing Hospital,Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China Yue-Xia Zhong,Emergency Department,Tangdu Hospital,Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710038,Shaanxi Province,China Ju Lu,Class EE 87,Department of Electronic Engineering,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China Bo-Rong Pan,Oncology Center,Xijing Hospital,Fourth Military Medical University,Xi’an 710032,Shaanxi Province,China 2002World Journal of Gastroenterology2002,8,2:19
Clinicopathological features and prognosis assessment of extranodal follicular dendritic cell sarcoma显示文摘AIM: To establish a model for prognosis assessment of extranodal follicular dendritic cell (FDC) sarcoma.METHODS: Nine lesions were examined by routine and molecular approaches.Clinicopathological factors from the new cases and 97 reported cases were analyzed for their prognostic values.RESULTS: The current lesions were found in f ive male and four female patients, located mainly in the head and neck area and averaging 7.2 cm in size.Six patients had recurrence or metastasis and three remained free of disease. The 106 patients (male/female ratio,1.1:1) were aged from 9 to 82 years (median,44 years). The tumor sizes ranged from 1.5 to 21 cm (mean,7.4 cm).Abdominal/pelvic region was affected most frequently (43%).Surgical resection was performed in 100 patients, followed by radiation and/or chemotherapy in 35 of them.Follow-up data were available in 91 cases, covering a period of 3-324 mo (mean,27 mo;median,19 mo).Of the informative cases,38 (42%) had recurrence or metastasis, and 12 (13%) died of the disease. These tumors were classif ied histologically into lowand high-grade lesions.A size ≥ 5 cm (P = 0.003),highgrade histology (P = 0.046) and a mitotic count ≥ 5/10 HPF (P = 0.013) were associated with tumor recurrence. The lesions were def ined as low-,intermediateand high-risk tumors, and their recurrence rates were 16%,46% and 73%,and their mortality rates 0%,4% and 45%,respectively.CONCLUSION: Extranodal FDC tumors behave like soft tissue sarcomas.Their clinical outcomes are variable and can be evaluated according to their sizes and grades.Li, Lan Shi, Yong-Hong Guo, Zhi-Juan Qiu, Tian Guo, Lei Yang, Hong-Ying Zhang, Xun Zhao, Xin-Ming Su, Qin 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,20:18
Traditional Chinese medicinal herbs combined with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor for advanced non-small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor(EGFR-TKI) targeted treatment has been a standard therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC), but it is not tolerated well by all patients. In China, some studies have reported that traditional Chinese medicinal herbs(TCMHs) may increase effi cacy and reduce toxicity when combined with EGFR-TKI, but outside of China few studies of this kind have been attempted. OBJECTIVE: This study is intended to systematically review the existing clinical evidence on TCMHs combined with EGFR-TKI for treatment of advanced NSCLC. SEARCH STRATEGY: PubMed, the Cochrane Library, the Excerpta Medica Database(EMBASE), the China BioMedical Literature(CBM), and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and web site of the American Society of Clinical Oncology(ASCO), the European Society for Medical Oncology(ESMO), the World Conference of Lung Cancer(WCLC) were searched; the search included all documents published in English or Chinese before October 2013. INCLUSION CRITERIA: We selected randomized controlled trials based on specifi c criteria, the most important of which was that a TCMH plus EGFR-TKI treatment group was compared with an EGFR-TKI control group in patients with advanced NSCLC. DATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS: The modifi ed Jadad scale was used to assess the quality of studies. For each included study, patient characteristics, treatment details, therapeutic approach and clinical outcomes were collected on a standardized form. When disagreements on study inclusion or data extracted from a study emerged, the consensus of all coauthors provided the resolution. The clinical outcome metrics consisted of objective response rate(ORR; complete response + partial response divided by the total number of patients), disease control rate(DCR; complete response + partial response + no change divided by the total number of patients), survival rate, improved or stabilized Karnofsky performance status(KPS), and severe toxicity. RevMan 5.0 software was used for data syntheses and analyses. Risk ratio(RR) and 95% confidence interval(CI) were calculated; if the hypothesis of homogeneity was not rejected(P>0.1, I2<50%), the fi xed-effect model was used to calculate the summary RR and the 95% CI. Otherwise, a random-effect model was used.RESULTS: In this review, 19 studies were included based on the selection criteria. Of them, 13studies were of high quality and 6 studies were of low quality, according to the modifi ed Jadad scale. When the TCMH plus EGFR-TKI treatment groups were compared with the EGFR-TKI control groups the meta-analysis demonstrated a statistically signifi cant higher ORR(RR 1.34; 95% CI 1.15 to 1.57; P=0.000 2), DCR(RR 1.18; 95% CI 1.09 to 1.27; P<0.000 1), one-year survival rate(RR 1.21; 95% CI 1.01 to 1.44; P=0.04), 2-year survival rate(RR 1.91; 95% CI 1.26 to 2.89; P=0.002) and improved or stable KPS(RR 1.38; 95% CI 1.26 to 1.51; P<0.000 01). Severe toxicity for rash was decreased(RR 0.55; 95% CI 0.32 to 0.94; P=0.03), as were nausea and vomiting(RR 0.17; 95% CI 0.04 to 0.72; P=0.02) and diarrhea(RR 0.46; 95% CI 0.24 to 0.89; P=0.02). Sensitivity analysis indicated that fi ndings of the meta-analysis were robust to study quality. In the funnel plot analysis, asymmetry was observed, and publication bias was indicated by Egger's test(P=0.03).CONCLUSION: TCMH intervention can increase effi cacy and reduce toxicity when combined with EGFR-TKI for advanced NSCLC, although this result requires further verifi cation by more well designed studies.Zhong-liang Liu Wei-rong Zhu Wen-chao Zhou Hai-feng Ying Lan Zheng Yuan-biao Guo Jing-xian Chen Xiao-heng Shen 2014Journal of Integrative Medicine2014,12,4:18
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound improved performance of breast imaging reporting and data system evaluation of critical breast lesions显示文摘AIM: To determine whether contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) can improve the precision of breast imaging reporting and data system(BI-RADS) categorization. METHODS: A total of 230 patients with 235 solid breast lesions classified as BI-RADS 4 on conventional ultrasound were evaluated. CEUS was performed within one week before core needle biopsy or surgical resection and a revised BI-RADS classification was assigned based on 10 CEUS imaging characteristics. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was then conducted to evaluate the diagnostic performance of CEUS-based BI-RADS assignment with pathological examination as reference criteria. RESULTS: The CEUS-based BI-RADS evaluation classified 116/235(49.36%) lesions into category 3, 20(8.51%), 13(5.53%) and 12(5.11%) lesions into categories 4A, 4B and 4C, respectively, and 74(31.49%) into category 5. Selecting CEUS-based BI-RADS category 4A as an appropriate cut-off gave sensitivity and specificity values of 85.4% and 87.8%, respectively, for the diagnosisof malignant disease. The cancer-to-biopsy yield was 73.11% with CEUS-based BI-RADS 4A selected as the biopsy threshold compared with 40.85% otherwise, while the biopsy rate was only 42.13% compared with 100% otherwise. Overall, only 4.68% of invasive cancers were misdiagnosed.CONCLUSION: This pilot study suggests that evaluation of BI-RADS 4 breast lesions with CEUS results in reduced biopsy rates and increased cancer-to-biopsy yields.Jun Luo Ji-Dong Chen Qing Chen Lin-Xian Yue Guo Zhou Cheng Lan Yi Li Chi-Hua Wu Jing-Qiao Lu 2016World Journal of Radiology2016,8,6:17
Coinfection with influenza A virus enhances SARS-CoV-2 infectivity显示文摘The upcoming flu season in the Northern Hemisphere merging with the current COVID-19 pandemic raises a potentially severe threat to public health.Through experimental coinfection with influenza A virus(IAV)and either pseudotyped or live SARS-CoV-2 virus,we found that IAV preinfection significantly promoted the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 in a broad range of cell types.Remarkably,in vivo, increased SARS-CoV-2 viral load and more severe lung damage were observed in mice coinfected with IAV.Moreover, such enhancement of SARS-CoV-2 infectivity was not observed with several other respiratory viruses, likely due to a unique feature of IAV to elevate ACE2 expression. This study illustrates that IAV has a unique ability to aggravate SARS-CoV-2 infection, and thus, prevention of IAV infection is of great significance during the COVID-19 pandemic.Lei Bai Yongliang Zhao Jiazhen Dong Simeng Liang Ming Guo Xinjin Liu Xin Wang Zhixiang Huang Xiaoyi Sun Zhen Zhang Lianghui Dong Qianyun Liu Yucheng Zheng Danping Niu Min Xiang Kun Song Jiajie Ye Wenchao Zheng Zhidong Tang Mingliang Tang Yu Zhou Chao Shen Li Zhou Yu Chen Huan Yan Ke Lan Ke Xu 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:16
Association between pepsinogen C gene polymorphism and genetic predisposition to gastric cancer显示文摘AIM: To identify a molecular marker for gastric cancer, andto investigate the relationship between the polymorphismof pepsinogen C (PGC) gene and the genetic predispositionto gastric cancer.METHODS: A total of 289 cases were involved in this study.115 cases came from Shenyang area, a low risk area ofgastric cancer, including 42 unrelated controls and 73 patientswith gastric cancer. 174 cases came from Zhuanghe area, ahigh-risk area of gastric cancer, including 113 unrelatedcontrols, and 61 cases from gastric cancer kindred families. The polymorphism of PGC gene was detected by polymerasechain reaction (PCR) and the relation between the geneticpolymorphism of PGC and gastric cancer was examined.RESULTS: Four alleles, 310bp (allele 1), 400bp (allele 2),450bp (allele 3), and 480bp (allele 4) were detected byPCR. The frequency of allele 1 was higher in patients withgastric cancer than that in controls. Genotypes containinghomogenous allele 1 were significantly more frequent inpatients with gastric cancerthan that in controls (0.33, 0.14,x2=3.86, P<0.05). There was no significant differencebetween the control group of Zhuanghe and the group ofgastric cancer kindred. But the frequency of allele 1 washigher in control group of Zhuanghe area than that in controlgroup of Shenyang area and genotypes containinghomogenous allele 1 were significantly more frequent inthe control group of Zhuanghe area than those in controlgroup of Shenyang area (0.33, 0.14, x2=4.32, P<0.05). Inthe group of gastric cancer kindred the frequency of allele 1was significantly higher than that in control group ofShenyang area (0.5164, 0.3571, x2=4.47, P<0.05).Genotypes containing homogenous allele 1 were significantlymore frequent in the group of gastric cancer kindred thanthose in control group of Shenyang area (0.36, 0.14, x2=4.91,P<0.05).CONCLUSION: These results suggest that there is somerelation between pepsinogen C gene polymorphism andgastric cancer, and the person with homogenous allele 1predisposes to gastric cancer than those with othergenotypes. Pepsinogen C gene polymorphism may be usedas a genetic marker for a genetic predisposition to gastriccancer. The distribution of pepsinogen C gene polymorphismin Zhuanghe, a high-risk area of gastric cancer, is differentfrom that in Shenyang, a low risk area of gastric cancer.Hui-Jie Liu Xiao-Lin Guo Ming Dong Lan Wang Yuan Yuan Cancer Institute,First Affiliated Hospital,China Medical University,Shenyang,110001,Liaoning Province,China 2003World Journal of Gastroenterology2003,9,1:16
Simultaneous detection of different serum pepsinogens and its primary application显示文摘AIM: To develop the simple, rapid and sensitive dual-label time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay for pepsinogens in human serum.METHODS: Based on two-site sandwich protocol, mono-clonal antibodies (McAbs) against pepsinogen Ⅰ (PG Ⅰ) and PG Ⅱ were co-coated in 96 microtitration wells, and tracer McAbs against PG Ⅰ and PG Ⅱ were labeled with europium (Eu) and samarium (Sm) chelate, respectively. Diluted serum samples of Eu3+- and Sm3+-McAbs were added into microtitration wells simultaneously. After washing, fluorescence of bound Sm3+ and Eu3+ tracers was detected. RESULTS: The detection limit was 0.2 μg/L for PG Ⅰ and 0.05 μg/L for PG Ⅱ. The assay range was 5.0-320.0 μg/Lfor PG Ⅰ and 1.0-55.0 μg/L for PG Ⅱ. The average re-covery rate was 102.7% for PG Ⅰ and 98.8% for PG Ⅱ. Sera from healthy controls and patients with gastric dis-ease were analyzed. The PG detected by dual-label as-say was in good agreement with that detected by single-label assay or by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. CONCLUSION: Dual-label assay can provide high-throughput serological screening for gastric diseases.Zhang, Jue Guo, Ji-Zhong Xiao, Hua-Long Zhu, Lan Liu, Hai-Yan Zhang, Yi Huang, Biao 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,24:15
Calcium-binding ability of soy protein hydrolysates显示文摘This present study investigated the ability of various soy protein hydrolysates(SPHs)in binding calcium. It was demonstrated that the amount of Ca-bound depended greatly on the SPHs obtained using different proteases, which included:neutrase, flavourzyme, protease M and pepsin. The maximum level of Ca-bound(66.9 mg/g)occurred when protease M was used to hydrolyze soy protein.Peptide fragments exhibiting high Ca-binding capacity had molecular weights of either 14.4 or 8-9 kDa.The level of Ca-bound increased linearly with the increment of carboxyl content in SPHs,and further deamidation on SPHs from protease M improved Ca-binding of the hydrolysate.Xiao Lan Bao Mei Song Jing Zhang Yang Chen Shun Tang Guo 2007Chinese Chemical Letters2007,18,9:14
Sequential use of transarterial chemoembolization and percutaneous cryosurgery for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of sequential use of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and percutaneous cryosurgery for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: Four hundred and twenty patients were enrolled in this study. The patients, who were considered to have unresectable tumors due to their location or size or comorbidity, were divided into sequential TACE-cryosurgery (sequential) group (n = 290) and cryosurgery alone (cryoalone) group (n = 130). Patients in the sequential group tended to have larger tumors and a greater number of tumors than those in the cryo-alone group. Tumors larger than 10 cm in diameter were only seen in the sequential group. TACE was performed with the routine technique and percutaneous cryosurgery was conducted under the guidance of ultrasound 2-4 wk after TACE. RESULTS: During a mean follow-up period of 42 ± 17 mo (range, 24-70 mo), the local recurrence rateat the ablated area was 17% for all patients, 11% and 23% for patients in sequential group and cryoalone groups, respectively (P = 0.001). The overall 1-, 2-, 3-, 4and 5-year survival rate was 72%, 57%, 47%, 39% and 31%, respectively. The 1and 2-year survival rates (71% and 61%) in sequential group were similar to those (73% and 54%) in cryo-alone group (P = 0.69 and 0.147), while the 4and 5-year survival rates were 49% and 39% in sequential group, higher than those (29% and 23%) in cryo-alone group (P = 0.001). Eighteen patients with large HCC (> 5 cm in diameter) survived for more than 5 years after sequential TACE while no patient with large HCC (> 5 cm in diameter) survived more than 5 years after cryosurgery. The overall complication rate was 24%, and the complication rates were 21% and 26% for the sequential and cryo-alone groups, respectively (P = 0.06). The incidence of hepatic bleeding was higher in cryo-alone group than in sequential group (P = 0.02). Liver crack only occurred in two patients of the cryoalone group. CONCLUSION: Pre-cryosurgical TACE can increase the cryoablation efficacy and decrease its adverse effects, especially bleeding. Sequential TACE and cryosurgery may be the better procedure for unresectable HCC, especially for large HCC.Ke-Cheng Xu Li-Zhi Niu Qiang Zhou Yi-Ze Hu De-Hong Guo Zheng-Ping Liu Bing Lan Feng Mu Ying-Fei Li Jian-Sheng Zuo 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,29:13

Effect of aerial spray adjuvant applying on the efficiency of small unmanned aerial vehicle for wheat aphids control显示文摘Small unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)have been widely used in different aspects of modern farming management, including pest and disease control in China in recent years. In this study, the spray performance of a small plant protection UAV at low volume spray was evaluated by adjusting the pesticide dosage and adding aerial spraying adjuvants.Droplet deposition, droplet density, coverage, control effect and pesticide residue from field trials were assessed. In addition, the residue and control effect of UAV spray were compared to manual knapsack at high volume spray. The results showed that, the adjuvant applying improved the efficiency of UAV spray. Also, the adjuvant applying reduced the dosage of imidacloprid by 20%.However,there was no significant difference on initial residue between UAV spray and knapsack spray. Thus, plant protection UAV spraying pesticide by adding appropriate adjuvant showed the ability of improving the pesticide effectiveness by improving the control efficiency, reducing the pesticide dosage and residue.Yanhua Meng Yubin Lan Guiying Mei Yongwang Guo Jianli Song Zhiguo Wang 2018International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,5:13
