1Effects of Tillage Management on Infiltration and Preferential Flow in a Black Soil, Northeast China显示文摘The impacts of no-tillage (NT) and moldboard plough (MP) managements on infiltration rate and preferential flow were characterized using a combined technique of double-ring device and dye tracer on a black soil (Mollisols) in Northeast China. The objective of this study is to evaluate how tillage practices enhance soil water infiltration and preferential flow in favor of soil erosion control in the study area. The steady infiltration rates under NT management are 1.6 and 2.1 times as high as those under MP management in the 6th and 8th years of the tillage management in place, while the infiltrated water amounts under NT management are 1.4 and 2.0 times as high as those under MP management, respectively. The depth of methylene blue penetrated into NT soil increases from 43cm in the 6th year to 57cm in the 8th year, which are 16cm and 19cm deeper than those in MP soil, respectively. The results of morphologic image show that more biological macro-pores occur in NT soil than in MP soil. These macro-pores play a key role in enhancing preferential flow in NT soil, which in turn promotes water infiltration through preferential pathways in NT soil. The results are helpful to policy-making in popularizing NT and have the implications for tillage management in regard to soil erosion control in black soil region of China.FAN Ruqin ZHANG Xiaoping YANG Xueming LIANG Aizhen JIA Shuxia CHEN Xuewen 2013Chinese Geographical Science2013,23,3:6
2Aggregate-related microbial communities and nutrient stoichiometry under different croplands显示文摘Ecological stoichiometry is an important indicator presenting multiple elements balance in agro-ecosystems.However,information on microbial communities and nutrient stoichiometry in soil aggregate fractions under different croplands(rice, maize, and soybean fields)remains limited. Thus, this study investigated water-stable aggregate structure and their internal nutrient stoichiometry under different croplands and ascertain their interaction mechanism with microbial communities. The results showed that no significant difference on the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio(C:N)in soil aggregate fractions was observed, while the carbon-to-phosphorus ratio(C:P)and the nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratio(N:P)were ranked as rice field>maize field>soybean field, and were higher in mega-aggregates(ME,>1 mm).General fatty acid methyl ester(FAME),Gram-positive bacteria(G+),and Gramnegative bacteria(G−)were predominant microbial communities in all croplands and tented to condense into coarse-aggregates.Redundancy analysis(RDA)demonstrated that N:P ratio was primary environmental controls on the distribution of soil microorganisms. In the Sanjiang Plain,N was the nutrient element limiting agro-ecosystem productivity, and rice cultivation is expected to improve the N-limited nutrient status.Hu Cui Yang Ou Duian Lv Lixia Wang Aizhen Liang Baixing Yan Yingxin Li 2020Ecological Processes2020,9,1:2

5Comparative study on the mRNA expression of Pinus massoniana infected by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus显示文摘Pine wilt disease(PWD)is a devastating disease affecting the growth of Pinus massoniana, often leading to withering and death. To reveal the changes involved during disease progression,we investigated the mRNA expression profile of P.massoniana infested by Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. The infestation resulted in the downregulation of genes involved in interactions with pathogenic pathways such as disease resistance gene,CC-NBS-LRR resistancelike protein, and the gene encoding a putative nematode resistance protein.Increased infestation pressure(number of nematodes inoculated)caused a continuous decline in the gene expression of stem samples. An infestation of P.massoniana also resulted in a pathway enrichment of genes involved in phenylpropanoid metabolism and flavonoid biosynthesis, which in turn reduced the levels of total phenols and total flavonoids.A downregulation of auxin responsive family protein was observed in infested samples, which resulted in a suppression of plant growth. Thus, upon B.xylophilus infestation,a downregulation of genes associated with the recognition of pathogens,PWD resistance, and growth regulation was observed in P.massoniana, together with a decrease in the levels of phytoalexinlike secondary substances, all of which resulted in withering and ultimately death of P.massoniana.Wanfeng Xie Guanghong Liang Aizhen Huang Feiping Zhang Wenshuo Guo 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,1:1

7Residue Return Effects Outweigh Tillage Effects on Soil Microbial Communities and Functional Genes in Black Soil Region of Northeast China显示文摘Conservation tillage as an effective alternative to mitigate soil degradation has attracted worldwide attention, but the influences of conservation tillage on soil microbial community and especially function remain unclear.Shotgun metagenomics sequencing was performed to examine the taxonomic and functional community variations of black soils under three tillage regimes, namely no-tillage with residue(maize straw)return(NTS),moldboard plow with residue return(MPS),and moldboard plow without residue return(MPN)in Northeast China. The results revealed:1)Soil bacterial and archaeal communities differed significantly under different tillage regimes in contrast to soil fungal community.2)The overlay of less tillage and residues return under NTS led to unique soil microbial community composition and functional composition.Specifically,in contrast to other treatments,NTS increased the relative abundances of some taxa such as Bradyrhizobium,Candidatus Solibacter, and Reyranella, along with the relative abundances of some taxa such as Sphingomonas,Unclassified Chloroflexi and Nitrososphaera decreased;NTS had a unique advantage of increasing the relative abundances of genes involved in‘ATP-binding cassette(ABC)transporters’and‘quorum sensing(QS)’pathways, while MPN favored the genes involved in‘flagellar assembly’pathway and some metabolic pathways such as‘carbon’and‘glyoxylate and dicarboxylate’and‘selenocompound’metabolisms.3)Significantly different soil bacterial phyla(Acidobacteria,Gemmatimonadetes, and Chloroflexi)and metabolic pathways existed between MPN and another two treatments(NTS and MPS),while did not exist between NTS and MPS.4)Dissolved organic carbon(DOC)and soil bulk density were significantly affected(P<0.05)by tillage and accounted for the variance both in microbial(bacterial)community structure and functional composition. These results indicated that a change in tillage regime from conventional to conservation tillage results in a shift of microbial community and functional genes, and we inferred that residue return played a more prominent role than less tillage in functional shifts in the microbial community of black soils.WANG Qian JIA Shuxia LIANG Aizhen CHEN Xuewen ZHANG Shixiu ZHANG Yan Neil B MCLAUGHLIN GAO Yan HUANG Dandan 2023Chinese Geographical Science2023,33,4:0
