1GS6, A Member of the GRAS Gene Family,Negatively Regulates Grain Size in Rice显示文摘Grain size is an important yield related trait in rice.Intensive arti cial selection for grain size during domestication is evidenced by the larger grains of most of today’s cultivars compared with their wild relatives.However,the molecular genetic control of rice grain size is still not well characterized.Here,we report the identi cation and cloning of Grain Size 6(GS6),which plays an important role in reducing grain size in rice.A premature stop at the t348 position in the coding sequence(CDS)of GS6 increased grain width and weight signi cantly.Alignment of the CDS regions of GS6 in 90 rice materials revealed three GS6alleles.Most japonica varieties(95%)harbor the Type I haplotype,and 62.9%of indica varieties harbor the Type II haplotype.Association analysis revealed that the Type I haplotype tends to increase the width and weight of grains more than either of the Type II or Type III haplotypes.Further investigation of genetic diversity and the evolutionary mechanisms of GS6showed that the GS6gene was strongly selected in japonica cultivars.In addition,a'ggc'repeat region identi ed in the region that encodes the GRAS domain of GS6 played an important historic role in the domestication of grain size in rice.Knowledge of the function of GS6might aid efforts to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that control grain development and evolution in rice plants,and could facilitate the genetic improvement of rice yield.Lianjun Sun Xiaojiao Li Yongcai Fu Zuofeng Zhu Lubin Tan Fengxia Liu Xianyou Sun Xuewen Sun Chuanqing Sun 2013Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2013,55,10:44
2Spatial modeling of the carbon stock of forest trees in Heilongjiang Province, China显示文摘Heilongjiang province is the largest forest zone in China and the forest coverage rate is 46%. Forests of Heilongjiang province play an important role in the forest ecosystem of China. In this study we investigated the spatial distribution of forest carbon storage in Heilongjiang province using 3083 plots sampled in 2010. We attempted to fit two global models, ordinary least squares model(OLS), linear mixed model(LMM), and a local model, geographically weighted regression model(GWR), to the relationship between forest carbon content and stand, environment, and climate factors. Five predictors significantly affected forest carbon storage and spatial distribution, viz. average diameter of stand(DBH), number of trees per hectare(TPH), elevation(Elev), slope(Slope) and the product of precipitation and temperature(Rain_Temp). The GWR model outperformed the two global models in both model fitting and prediction because it successfully reduced both spatial autocorrelation and heterogeneity in model residuals. More importantly, the GWR model provided localized model coefficients for each location in the study area, which allowed us to evaluate the influences of local stand conditions and topographic features on tree and stand growth, and forest carbon stock. It also helped us to better understand the impacts of silvicultural and management activities on the amount and changes of forest carbon storage across the province. 3Protection of Cactus Polysaccharide against H_2O_2-induced damage in the rat cerebral cortex and hippocampus Differences in time of administration显示文摘BACKGROUND: Pharmacological research has shown that cactus polysaccharide (CP) has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-aging, and immune-stimulating activities. It may also provide protective effects against oxidative stress injuries in the rat brain. OBJECTIVE: To validate the effects of CP on H2O2-induced oxidative stress injuries in the rat cerebral cortex and hippocampal slices 30 minutes prior to injury, as well as 30 minutes and 2.5 hours after injury. DESIGN: A randomized controlled experiment. SETTINGS: Department of Pharmacology, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Department of Pharmacology, College of Medical Science, Yangtze University. MATERIALS: A total of 50 male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats, normal grade and weighing 200-300 g, were provided by the Laboratory Animal Center of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The protocol was performed in accordance with ethical guidelines for the use and care of ani- mals. Cactus polysaccharide, a dried needle crystal, was extracted from Opuntia milpa alta at the Chemistry and Environment Engineering School of Yangtze University. The following chemicals and instruments were used: 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (Sigma, St Louis, Missouri, USA); lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), and total antioxidant competence (T-AOC) assays (Ji- ancheng-Bioeng Institute, Nanjing); McIllwain tissue chopper (Mickle Laboratory Engineering, USA); and ELISA reader and Magellan software (TECAN, Austria). METHODS: This experiment was performed at the Department of Pharmacology, Medical College of Yangtze University, between March and June 2006. All rats were sacrificed after anesthesia. The cerebral cortex and hippocampus were dissected. Several cerebral cortex and hippocampus slices were selected as controls, while other sections were co-incubated with H2O2 for 30 minutes to induce an oxidative stress in- jury. The experimental slices were randomly divided into 3 groups: model group, low-dose group, and high-dose group. Slices from the low- and high-dose group were incubated with CP 30 minutes prior to in- jury, as well as 30 minutes and 2.5 hours after injury. The number of cerebral cortex and hippocampus slices at each time point was greater than 10 and 7, respectively. The control group slices were incubated with arti- ficial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) for 3 hours. The model group slices were incubated with aCSF for 30 min- utes, followed by 30 minutes of aCSF with H2O2 incubation to establish the oxidative stress injury model. Thereafter, the slices were re-incubated with aCSF for 2 hours. The slices in the low- and high-dose group were co-incubated with 0.33 mg/L CP or 1.67 mg/L CP, respectively. CP was applied either for 30 minutes prior to the H2O2 treatment, co-incubated with H2O2 for 30 minutes, or applied 2 hours after H2O2 treatment. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Brain slice activity was determined by TTC staining. Biochemical markers, such as LDH, SOD, GSH, and T-AOC, were analyzed in clear supernatant liquid to study the phar- macological mechanisms. RESULTS: ① Effects of CP on H2O2-injured brain slices: TTC absorption level at 490 nm decreased with a 30-minute CP administration before and after injury. The TTC absorption values in the low- and high-dose group were significantly lower than the control group (P < 0.05-0.01). CP administration prior to insult had greater neuroprotective effects on brain slices than administration during the insult. CP Administration after insult had no obvious protective effects on the brain slices. There was no significant difference in TTC ab sorption levels between administration after 2.5 hours and the model group (P > 0.05). ② Effects of CP on substances released from H2O2-induced injury slices were as follows: following incubation with 2 mmol/L H2O2 for 30 minutes, LDH release was significantly increased from the rat cortical and hippocampal brain slices. T-AOC and GSH were decreased, which is in accordance with the TTC assay for evaluating the de- gree of slice injury. Prior administration of 0.33 mg/L CP and 1.67 mg/L CP decreased LDH release andenhanced T-AOC and GSH release in a dose-dependent manner. After H2O2-induced damage for 30 minutes, the release of SOD increased to some extent. SOD levels were further raised by preincubation with 0.33 mg/L CP or 1.67 mg/L CP, compared to the model group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: CP can protect rat cerebral cortex and hippocampal slices from H2O2-induced injury. This protective effect is dosedependent. 4Evaluation of zeolites synthesized from fly ash as potential adsorbents for wastewater containing heavy metals显示文摘The pure-form zeolites(A and X) were synthesized by applying a two-stage method during hydrothermal treatment of fly ash prepared initial Cu and Zn gel. The difference of adsorption capacity of both synthesized zeolits was assessed using Cu and Zn as target heavy metal ions. It was found that adsorption capacity of zeolite A showed much higher value than that of zeolite X. Thus,attention was focused on investigating the removal performance of heavy metal ions in aqueous solution on zeolite A,comparing with zeolite HS(hydroxyl-solidate) prepared from the residual fly ash(after synthesis of pure-form zeolite A from fly ash) and a commercial grade zeolite A. Batch method was used to study the influential parameters of the adsorption process. The equilibrium data were well fitted by the Langmuir model. The removal mechanism of metal ions followed adsorption and ion exchange processes. 5Reuse of Fenton sludge as an iron source for NiFe_2O_4 synthesis and its application in the Fenton-based process显示文摘The potentially hazardous iron-containing sludge from the Fenton process requires proper treatment and disposal, which often results in high treatment cost. In this study, a novel method for the reuse of Fenton sludge as an iron source for the synthesis of nickel ferrite particles(NiFe_2O_4) is proposed. Through a co-precipitation method followed by sintering at 800°C, magnetic NiFe_2O_4 particles were successfully synthesized, which was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electronic microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy. The synthesized NiFe_2O_4 could be used as an efficient catalyst in the heterogeneous Fenton process. In phenol degradation with H_2O_2 or NiFe_2O_4 alone, the phenol removal efficiencies within the reaction time of 330 min were as low as 5.9% ± 0.1% and 13.5% ±0.4%, respectively. However, in the presence of both NiFe_2O_4 and H_2O_2, phenol removal efficiency as high as 95% ± 3.4% could be achieved, indicating the excellent catalytic performance of NiFe_2O_4 in the heterogeneous Fenton process. Notably, a rapid electron exchange between_Ni II and_Fe III ions in the NiFe_2O_4 structure could be beneficial for the Fenton reaction. 6Reduction of VOC emissions by a membrane-based gas absorption process显示文摘A membrane-based gas absorption (MGA) process was evaluated for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) based on C6H6/N2 mixture. The absorption of C6H6 from a C6H6/N2 mixture was investigated using a hydrophobic polypropylene hollow fiber membrane contactor and the aqueous solution of N-formyl morpholine (NFM) as absorbent. The effects of various factors on the overall mass transfer coefficient was investigated. The experimental results showed that the removal efficiency of C6H6 could reach 99.5% in present studied system. A mathematical model based on resistance-in-series concept was presented to predict the value of overall mass transfer coefficient. The average error between the predicted and experimental values is 7.9%. 7Vulnerability and Sustainable Development Mode of Coal Cities in Northeast China显示文摘In this study, by carrying on the spot investigation to the seven coal cities in Northeast China and interview-ing with the local authority and the residents, the authors definite the vulnerability that is closed to exposure, sensitiv-ity and resilience, and set up vulnerability model of coal cities in Northeast China. At the same time, the authors broadly illustrate how the components of natural-social-economic system act in the coal area, so as to probe the ways to reduce vulnerability more effectively, such as preferential national policy and so on. Furthermore, the article studies the relationship between vulnerability and sustainable development. Vulnerability is a spatio-temporal function of sus-tainable development. The regional sustainable development refrains the spiral ascending of vulnerability. And the re-gional vulnerability and sustainable development appear in turn. Then the article analyzes the natural vulnerability, so-cial vulnerability and economic vulnerability of coal cities in Northeast China. 8Automatic detection of oceanic eddies in reanalyzed SST images and its application in the East China Sea显示文摘Oceanic eddies may cause local sea surface temperature(SST), height, and salinity anomalies in remote sensing(RS) images. Remote sensed SST imagery has proven to be an effective technique in oceanic eddy detection, because of its high temporal and spatial resolution. Various techniques have been used to identify eddies from SST images. However, mainly owing to the strong morphological variation of oceanic eddies, there is arguably no uniquely correct eddy detection method. A scheme of algorithm based on quasi-contour tracing and clustering of eddy detection from SST dataset is presented. The method does not impose fixed restrictions or limitations during the course of 'suspected' eddy detection, and any eddy-like structures can be detected as 'suspected' eddies. Then, 'true' eddies can be identified based on the combination of intensity and spatial/temporal scale criteria. This approach has been applied to detect eddies in the East China Sea by using Operational SST & Sea Ice Analysis(OSTIA) dataset. Experiments proved that oceanic eddies ranging in diameter from tens to hundreds of kilometers can be detected. Through investigation of the 2007–2011 OSTIA daily SST dataset from the Kuroshio region in the East China Sea, we found that the most active regions for oceanic eddies are those along the Kuroshio path, northeast of Taiwan Island, the Yangtze Estuary and the Ryukyu Islands. About 86% of the cyclonic eddies and 87% of the anticyclonic eddies have the size of 50–100 km in diameter. 9Removal of phosphate from wastewater using alkaline residue显示文摘Alkaline residue(AR) was found to be an efficient adsorbent for phosphate removal from wastewater. The kinetic and equilibrium of phosphate removal were investigated to evaluate the performance of modified alkaline residue. After treatment by NaOH(AR-NaOH), removal performance was significantly improved, while removal performance was almost completely lost after treatment by HCl(AR-HCl). The kinetics of the removal process by all adsorbents was well characterized by the pseudo second-order model. The Langmuir model exhibited the best correlation for AR-HCl, while AR was effectively described by Freundlich model. Both models were well fitted to AR-NaOH. The maximum adsorption capacities calculated from Langmuir equation were in following manner: AR-NaOH > AR > AR-HCl. Phosphate removal by alkaline residue was pH dependent process. Mechanisms for phosphate removal mainly involved adsorption and precipitation, varied with equilibrium pH of solution. For AR-HCl, the acid equilibrium pH(< 6.0) was unfavorable for the formation of Ca-P precipitate, with adsorption as the key mechanism for phosphate removal. In contrast, for AR and ARNaOH, precipitation was the dominant mechanism for phosphate removal, due to the incrase on pH(> 8.0) after phosphate removal. 10Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal in an aerobic granular system显示文摘Simultaneous pyridine biodegradation and nitrogen removal were successfully achieved in a sequencing batch reactor(SBR) based on aerobic granules. In a typical SBR cycle, nitritation occurred obviously after the majority of pyridine was removed, while denitrification occurred at early stage of the cycle when oxygen consumption was aggravated. The effect of several key operation parameters, i.e., air flow rate, influent NH_4^+-N concentration,influent p H and pyridine concentration, on nitritation, pyridine degradation and total nitrogen(TN) removal, was systematically investigated. The results indicated that high air flow rate had a positive effect on both pyridine degradation and nitritation but a negative impact of overhigh air flow rate. With the increase of NH_4^+ dosage, both nitritation and TN removal could be severely inhibited. Slightly alkaline condition, i.e., pH 7.0–8.0, was beneficial for both pyridine degradation and nitritation. High pyridine dosage often resulted in the delay of both pyridine degradation and nitritation. Besides, extracellular polymeric substances production was affected by air flow rate, NH_4^+ dosage, pyridine dosage and p H.In addition, high-throughput sequencing analysis demonstrated that Bdellovibrio and Paracoccus were the dominant species in the aerobic granulation system. 11High-quality de novo assembly of the Eucommia ulmoides haploid genome provides new insights into evolution and rubber biosynthesis显示文摘We report the acquisition of a high-quality haploid chromosome-scale genome assembly for the first time in a tree species,Eucommia ulmoides,which is known for its rubber biosynthesis and medicinal applications.The assembly was obtained by applying PacBio and Hi–C technologies to a haploid that we specifically generated.Compared to the initial genome release,this one has significantly improved assembly quality.The scaffold N50(53.15 MB)increased 28-fold,and the repetitive sequence content(520 Mb)increased by 158.24 Mb,whereas the number of gaps decreased from 104,772 to 128.A total of 92.87%of the 26,001 predicted protein-coding genes identified with multiple strategies were anchored to the 17 chromosomes.A new whole-genome duplication event was superimposed on the earlierγpaleohexaploidization event,and the expansion of long terminal repeats contributed greatly to the evolution of the genome.The more primitive rubber biosynthesis of this species,as opposed to that in Hevea brasiliensis,relies on the methylerythritol-phosphate pathway rather than the mevalonate pathway to synthesize isoprenyl diphosphate,as the MEP pathway operates predominantly in trans-polyisoprene-containing leaves and central peels.Chlorogenic acid biosynthesis pathway enzymes were preferentially expressed in leaves rather than in bark.This assembly with higher sequence contiguity can foster not only studies on genome structure and evolution,gene mapping,epigenetic analysis and functional genomics but also efforts to improve E.ulmoides for industrial and medical uses through genetic engineering.Yun Li Hairong Wei Jun Yang Kang Du Jiang Li Ying Zhang Tong Qiu Zhao Liu Yongyu Ren Lianjun Song Xiangyang Kang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:7
12Phase I study of CAR-T cells with PD-1 and TCR disruption in mesothelin-positive solid tumors显示文摘Programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1)-mediated immunosuppression has been proposed to contribute to the limited clinical efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T(CAR-T)cells in solid tumors.We generated PD-1 and T cell receptor(TCR)deficient mesothelin-specific CAR-T(MPTK-CAR-T)cells using CRISPR-Cas9 technology and evaluated them in a dose-escalation study.A total of 15 patients received one or more infusions of MPTK-CAR-T cells without prior lymphodepletion.No dose-limiting toxicity or unexpected adverse events were observed in any of the 15 patients.The best overall response was stable disease(2/15 patients).Circulating MPTK-CAR-T cells peaked at days 7–14 and became undetectable beyond 1 month.TCR-positive CAR-T cells rather than TCR-negative CAR-T cells were predominantly detected in effusion or peripheral blood from three patients after infusion.We further confirmed the reduced persistence of TCR-deficient CAR-T cells in animal models.Our results establish the preliminary feasibility and safety of CRISPR-engineered CAR-T cells with PD-1 disruption and suggest that the natural TCR plays an important role in the persistence of CAR-T cells when treating solid tumors.Zhenguang Wang Na Li Kaichao Feng Meixia Chen Yan Zhang Yang Liu Qingming Yang Jing Nie Na Tang Xingying Zhang Chen Cheng Lianjun Shen Jiaping He Xun Ye Wei Cao Haoyi Wang Weidong Han 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:7

14Reductive transformation and detoxification mechanism of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene in combined zero valent iron and anaerobic-aerobic process显示文摘A combined zero valent iron (ZVI) and anaerobic-aerobic process was adopted for the treatment of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)-containing wastewater. The transformation pathway, reduction of acute toxicity and enhancement of biodegradability were investigated. After pretreatment by ZVI, DNCB in wastewater could be completely converted into 2,4-diaminochlorobenzene (DACB). The ratio of BOD5/COD increased from 0.005±0.001 to 0.168±0.007, while EC 50, 48 hr (V/V) increased from 0.65% to 5.20%, indicating the enhancement of biodegradability and reduction of acute toxicity with the pretreatment by ZVI. DACB was further dechlorinated to m-phenylenediamine during the anaerobic process using methanol as electron donor, with EC50, 48 hr increasing from 5.20% to 48.2%. After the subsequent anaerobic-aerobic process, m-phenylenediamine was degraded completely, with effluent COD of 67.5±10.8 mg/L. This effluent of the subsequent anaerobic-aerobic process was not toxic to zebrafish. 15Enforced PGC-1α expression promotes CD8 T cell fitness, memory formation and antitumor immunity显示文摘Memory CD8 T cells can provide long-term protection against tumors,which depends on their enhanced proliferative capacity,self-renewal and unique metabolic rewiring to sustain cellular fitness.Specifically,memory CD8 T cells engage oxidative phosphorylation and fatty acid oxidation to fulfill their metabolic demands.In contrast,tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs)display severe metabolic defects,which may underlie their functional decline.Here,we show that overexpression of proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PGC-1α),the master regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis(MB),favors CD8 T cell central memory formation rather than resident memory generation.PGC-1α-overexpressing CD8 T cells persist and mediate more robust recall responses to bacterial infection or peptide vaccination.Importantly,CD8 T cells with enhanced PGC-1αexpression provide stronger antitumor immunity in a mouse melanoma model.Moreover,TILs overexpressing PGC-1αmaintain higher mitochondrial activity and improved expansion when rechallenged in a tumor-free host.Altogether,our findings indicate that enforcing mitochondrial biogenesis promotes CD8 T cell memory formation,metabolic fitness,and antitumor immunity in vivo.Nina Dumauthioz Benjamin Tschumi Mathias Wenes Bastien Marti Haiping Wang Fabien Franco Wenhui Li Isabel CLopez-Mejia Lluis Fajas Ping-Chih Ho Alena Donda Pedro Romero Lianjun Zhang 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,7:3
16Preparation of composite poly(ether block amide)membrane for CO_2 capture显示文摘In this study, a poly(ether block amide)(Pebax 1657) composite membrane applied for CO2 capture was prepared by coating Pebax 1657 solution on polyacrylonitrile(PAN) ultrafiltration membrane. Ethanol/water mixture was used as the solvent of Pebax and the effects of ethanol/water mass ratios and Pebax concentration on the permeation properties of composite membrane were studied. To enhance the composite membrane permeance, the gutter layer, made from reactive amino silicone crosslinking with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS), was designed. The influence of crosslinking degree of the gutter layer on membrane performance was investigated. As a result, a Pebax/aminoPDMS/PAN multilayer membrane with hexane resistance was developed, showing CO2 permeance of 350 GPU and CO2/N2 selectivity over50. The blend of polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether(PEG-DME) with Pebax as coating material was studied to further improve the membrane performance. 17Banking system reform,earnings quality and credit allocation显示文摘This paper investigates credit allocation before and after the 2003 banking system reform in China. We find that relationships between earnings quality and new short-term loans, long-term loans and total loans in listed companies changed significantly after the banking system reform, especially in stateowned listed companies. Further investigation shows that due to the influence of rent-seeking, banks have eased the earnings requirements of non-stateowned listed companies. 18Enhanced thermoelectric properties of hydrothermally synthesized n-type Se&Lu-codoped Bi2Te3显示文摘N-type Se&Lu-codoped Bi2Te3 nanopowders were prepared by hydrothermal method and sintered by spark plasma sintering technology to form dense samples.By further doping Se element into Lu-doped Bi2Te3 samples,the thickness of the nanosheets has the tendency to become thinner.The electrical conductivity of Lu0.1Bi1.9Te3−xSex material is reduced with the increasing Se content due to the reduced carrier concentration,while the Seeback coefficient values are enhanced.The lattice thermal conductivity of the Lu0.1Bi1.9Te3−xSex is greatly reduced due to the introduced point defects and atomic mass fluctuation.Finally,the Lu0.1Bi1.9Te2.7Se0.3 sample obtained a maximum ZT value of 0.85 at 420 K.This study provides a low-cost and simple low-temperature method to mass production of Se&Lu-codoped Bi2Te3 with high thermoelectric performance for practical applications.Xiaolei Shi Xin Ai Qihao Zhang Xiaofang Lu Shijia Gu Li Su Lianjun Wang Wan Jiang 2020Journal of Advanced Ceramics2020,9,4:2
19Achieving effective broadband microwave absorption with Fe_(3)O_(4)@C supraparticles显示文摘The X band(8 GHz-12 GHz)is the electromagnetic wave band emitted by most electronic instruments in our life,which will cause electromagnetic pollution harm to human health.Due to the coexistence of magnetic loss and dielectric loss,the modified Fe_(3)O_(4)-carbon-based nanomaterial exhibit strong electromagnetic(EM)wave absorptive capacity.However,there is a problem that the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB,the frequency bandwidth of reflection loss is less than-10 dB)of the X band is narrow.Increasing the EAB value of Fe_(3)O_(4)-carbon-based materials is of great significance for reducing electromagnetic pollution.Here,an emulsion-based self-assembly technique and ligand carbonization treatment have been used to construct the Fe_(3)O_(4)@C supraparticles for the evaluation of EM performance.The Fe_(3)O_(4)@C supraparticles exhibit excellent EM absorption properties,which can achieve full coverage of X band from 6.52 GHz to 12.9 GHz at a sample thickness of 3 mm.Besides,the optimum EAB value of Fe_(3)O_(4)@C supraparticles is up to 8.55 GHz from 9 to 18 GHz at a sample thickness of 2.5 mm.The Fe_(3)O_(4)@C supraparticles with superlattice structure will have potential development prospects in the application of broadband absorption.Li Su Jiaxin Ma Fangzhou Zhang Yuchi Fan Wei Luo Lianjun Wang Wan Jiang Jianping Yang 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,1:2
20Synthesis of ZSM-5 zeolite membranes without organic templates using a varying-concentration technique显示文摘Template-free nanosized ZSM-5 seeds with an average size of 15 nm were prepared from a synthesis solution with the composition 12Na2O∶100SiO2∶2Al2O3∶2500H2O. By the use of these seeds, thin ZSM-5 zeolite membranes were prepared on the outer surface of a porous α-alumina tube with a pore size of 2 μm in a gel system by varying-concentration synthesis with organic-free template. The first composition synthesis sol-gel was the same as seeds of molar composition and the second one was 12Na2O∶100SiO2∶2Al2O3∶5000H2O at 180 ℃ for 10 h, respectively. XRD shows that the film consists of well-crystallized ZSM-5 zeolite. SEM investigation indicats that the zeolite films on the supports are defect free and the film thickness is approximately 8 μm. The permeances for H2, N2, CH4 and CO2 are 8.94×10-7, 3.27×10-7, 3.9×10-7, 3.14×10-7 and 0.874×10-7 mol·m2·s-1·Pa-1, respectively.
