Evaluation of Latest TMPA and CMORPH Precipitation Products with Independent Rain Gauge Observation Networks over High-latitude and Low-latitude Basins in China显示文摘The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis(TMPA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) Climate Prediction Center(CPC) morphing technique(CMORPH) are two important multi-satellite precipitation products in TRMM-era and perform important functions in GPM-era. Both TMPA and CMORPH systems simultaneously upgraded their retrieval algorithms and released their latest version of precipitation data in 2013. In this study, the latest TMPA and CMORPH products(i.e., Version-7 real-time TMPA(T-rt) and gauge-adjusted TMPA(T-adj), and Version-1.0 real-time CMORPH(C-rt) and Version-1.0 gauge-adjusted CMORPH(C-adj)) are evaluated and intercompared by using independent rain gauge observations for a 12-year(2000–2011) period over two typical basins in China with different geographical and climate conditions. Results indicate that all TMPA and CMORPH products tend to overestimate precipitation for the high-latitude semiarid Laoha River Basin and underestimate it for the low-latitude humid Mishui Basin. Overall, the satellite precipitation products exhibit superior performance over Mishui Basin than that over Laoha River Basin. The C-adj presents the best performance over the high-latitude Laoha River Basin, whereas T-adj showed the best performance over the low-latitude Mishui Basin. The two gauge-adjusted products demonstrate potential in water resource management. However, the accuracy of two real-time satellite precipitation products demonstrates large variability in the two validation basins. The C-rt reaches a similar accuracy level with the gauge-adjusted satellite precipitation products in the high-latitude Laoha River Basin, and T-rt performs well in the low-latitude Mishui Basin. The study also reveals that all satellite precipitation products obviously overestimate light rain amounts and events over Laoha River Basin, whereas they underestimate the amount and events over Mishui Basin. The findings of the precision characteristics associated with the latest TMPA and CMORPH precipitation products at different basins will offer satellite precipitation users an enhanced understanding of the applicability of the latest TMPA and CMORPH for water resource management, hydrologic process simulation, and hydrometeorological disaster prediction in other similar regions in China. The findings will also be useful for IMERG algorithm development and update in GPM-era. | JIANG Shanhu REN Liliang YONG Bin HONG Yang YANG Xiaoli YUAN Fei | 2016 | Chinese Geographical Science2016,26,4: | 10
Peripheral CD4^(+) T cell signatures in predicting the responses to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 monotherapy for Chinese advanced non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Limited benefit population of immune checkpoint inhibitors makes it urgent to screen predictive biomarkers for stratifying the patients.Herein,we have investigated peripheral CD4^(+) T cell signatures in advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients receiving anti-PD-1/PD-L1 treatments. It was found that the percentages of IFN-γand IL-17A secreting naïve CD4^(+) T cells(Tn),and memory CD4^(+) T cells(Tm)expressing PD-1,PD-L1 and CTLA-4 were significantly higher in responder(R)than non-responder(NonR)NSCLC patients associated with a longer progression free survival(PFS).Logistic regression analysis revealed that the baseline IFN-γ-producing CD4^(+) Tn cells and PD-1^(+)CD4^(+) Tm cells were the most significant signatures with the area under curve(AUC)value reaching 0.849.This was further validated in another anti-PD-1 monotherapy cohort.Conversely, high percentage of CTLA-4^(+)CD4^(+) Tm cells was associated with a shorter PFS in patients receiving anti-PD-L1 monotherapy. Our study therefore elucidates the significance of functional CD4^(+) Tn and Tm subpopulations before the treatment in predicting the responses to anti-PD-1 treatment in Chinese NSCLC patients. The fact that there display distinct CD4^(+) T cell signatures in the prediction to anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 monotherapy from our study provides preliminary evidence on the feasibility of anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 combination therapy for advanced NSCLC patients. | Liliang Xia Hui Wang Mingjiao Sun Yi Yang Chengcheng Yao Sheng He Huangqi Duan Weimin Xia Ruiming Sun Yaxian Yao Zhiwei Chen Qiong Zhao Hong Li Shun Lu Ying Wang | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,10: | 7
Hydrological response to land use and land cover changes in a sub-watershed of West Liaohe River Basin,China显示文摘In recent years, the streamflow of the Laohahe Basin in China showed a dramatic decrease during the rainy season as a result of climate change and/or human activities. The objective of this work was to document significant streamflow changes caused by land use and land cover(LULC) changes and to quantify the impacts of the observed changes in Laohahe Basin. In the study area, the observed streamflow has been influenced by LULC changes, dams, and irrigation from rivers, industry, livestock and human consumption. Most importantly, the growth of population and gross domestic product(GDP) accompanied by the growth in industrial and agricultural activities, which led to LULC changes with increased residential land and cropland and decreased grassland since 2000s. Statistical methods and Variable Infiltration Capacity(VIC) hydrological model were used to estimate the effects of climate change and LULC changes on streamflow and evaportranspiration(ET). First, the streamflow data of the study area were divided into three sub-periods according to the Pettitt test. The hydrological process was then simulated by VIC model from 1964 to 2009. Furthermore, we compared the simulated results based on land use scenarios in 1989, 1999 and 2007, respectively for exploring the effect of LULC changes on the spatio-temporal distribution of streamflow and ET in the Laohahe Basin. The results suggest that, accompanied with climate change, the LULC changes and human water consumption appeared to be the most likely factors contributing to the significant reduction in streamflow in the Laohahe Basin by 64% from1999 to 2009. | XiaoLi YANG LiLiang REN Yi LIU DongLai JIAO ShanHu JIANG | 2014 | Journal of Arid Land2014,6,6: | 3

Revealing the real-time diversity and abundance of small mammals by using an Intelligent Animal Monitoring System(IAMS)显示文摘It is challenging to reveal the real-time spatio-temporal change of diversity and abundance of animals in natural systems by using traditional methods. The rapid advancement of new technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and big-data processing, provide opportunities for developing novel technologies for moni-toring biodiversity and population abundance of animals with high efficacy and accuracy. In this study,by using a recently developed Intelligent Animal Monitoring System, named“Vector Intelligent Monitoring System(VIMS)”,we investigated the real-time diversity and abundance of small mammals in the Banruosi forest,Dujiangyan region, southwest China. To make a comparison of the VIMS with traditional methods,we also surveyed the diversity and abundance of small mammals using wired live traps.Compared to live traps, the VIMS has several advantages such as automatic data collection, intelligent identification of species, data visualization,whole-day and all-weather op-eration,little disturbance to animals,real-time monitoring, and is capable of revealing more small mammal species. However, the VIMS also has several disadvantages over live traps such as lower trapping efficiency and being more expensive than live traps. Our results suggest that the VIMS can be a complementary method to traditional ones in monitoring the real-time spatio-temporal change of diversity and abundance of small mammals(especially rare species). In addition, the VIMS is useful in monitoring other small animals like small carnivores, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. | Xifu YANG Liliang HAN Yong WANG Cong GUO Zhibin ZHANG | 2022 | Integrative Zoology2022,17,6: | 1

Experimental and modelling studies of the transient tribological behaviour of a two-phase lubricant under complex loading conditions显示文摘The transient tribological phenomenon and premature lubricant breakdown have been widely observed in metal forming, leading to excessive friction at the contact interfaces. In this research, the transient tribological behaviour of a two-phase lubricant were studied under complex loading conditions, featuring abrupt interfacial temperature, contact load, and sliding speed changes, thus representing the severe interfacial conditions observed in warm/hot metal forming applications. The strong experimental evidence indicates that the evolution of friction was attributed to the physical diminution and chemical decomposition effects. As such,a visco-mechanochemical interactive friction model was developed to accurately predict the transient tribological behaviour of the two-phase lubricant under complex loading conditions. The new friction model exhibited close agreements between the modelling and experimental results. | Xiao YANG Lemeng ZHANG Denis J.POLITIS Jie ZHANG Mohammad M.GHARBI David LEYVRAZ Liliang WANG | 2022 | Friction2022,10,6: | 0
Formation conditions of Neogene large-scale high-abundance lithologic reservoir in the Laibei low uplift,Bohai Sea,East China显示文摘By using drilling,high-precision 3 D seismic data, data of geochemistry, logging and testing, the reservoir characteristics and accumulation conditions of the KL6-1 lithologic oilfield in the Laibei Low Uplift in the Bohai Sea are examined comprehensively. The study shows that:KL6-1 oilfield is a monolithic,high-quality,large-scale Neogene lithologic oilfield featuring shallow reservoir depth, high productivity, concentrated oil-bearing intervals, large oil-bearing area, and high reserve abundance;hydrocarbon source supply from two directions provides a sufficient material basis for the formation of large oil field;two types of'inherited structural ridge'developed under the effect of block rotation, late active faults formed by Neotectonic movement, and widely distributed contiguous sand bodies provide an efficient oil and gas transportation system for the large-scale accumulation of oil and gas;contiguous channel and lacustrine lowstand system sand bodies developed in low accommodation condition provide the basic condition for the formation of large-scale lithologic traps;deep formations structural ridge, faults(dominant migration pathways)and large-scale superimposed contiguous sand bodies constitute a'vine type'oil and gas migration and accumulation system in the Laibei Low Uplift, which is conducive to the formation of large-scale and high-abundance lithologic reservoir in this area. The successful discovery of KL6-1,100 million ton reserve order lithologic oil field, has revealed the exploration potential of Neogene large lithologic reservoirs in Bohai Sea,expanded the exploration field, and also has certain reference significance for the exploration of large lithologic reservoirs in similar areas. | XU Changgui YANG Haifeng WANG Deying ZHAO Dijiang WANG Liliang | 2021 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2021,48,1: | 0
Interactive mechanism and friction modelling of transient tribological phenomena in metal forming processes: A review显示文摘The accurate representation of tribological boundary conditions at the tool–workpiece interface is crucial for analysis and optimization of formability, material flow, and surface quality of components during metal forming processes. It has been found that these tribological conditions vary spatially and historically with process parameters and contact conditions. These time-dependent tribological behaviours are also known as transient tribological phenomena, which are widely observed during forming processes and many other manufacturing application scenarios. However, constant friction values are usually assigned to represent complex and dynamic interfacial conditions, which would introduce deviations in the relevant predictions. In this paper, transient tribological phenomena and the contemporary understanding of the interaction between friction and wear are reviewed, and it has been found that these phenomena are induced by the transitions of friction mechanisms and highly dependent on complex loading conditions at the interface.Friction modelling techniques for transient behaviours for metal forming applications are also reviewed. To accurately describe the evolutionary friction values and corresponding wear during forming, the advanced interactive friction modelling has been established for different application scenarios, including lubricated condition, dry sliding condition(metal-on-metal contact),and coated system. | Xiao YANG Heli LIU Lemeng ZHANG Yiran HU Denis J.POLITIS Mohammad M.GHARBI Liliang WANG | 2024 | Friction2024,12,3: | 0
Experimental study on the effect of canyon cross wind on temperature distribution of buoyancy-induced smoke layer in tunnel fires显示文摘Experiments were conducted in a 1:20 arced tunnel model to investigate the effect of canyon cross wind on buoyancy induced smoke flow characteristics of pool fres, involving smoke movement behaviour and longitudinal temperature distribution of smoke layer. The canyon wind speed, longitudinal fre location and fre size were varied. Results show that there are two special smoke behaviours with the fre source positioned at different flow feld zones. When the fire source is positioned at the negative pressure zone, with increasing canyon wind speed, the smoke always exists upstream mainly due to the vortex, and the smoke temperature near the fire source increases frst and then decreases. However, when the fre source is located in the transition zone and the unidirectional flow zone, there is no smoke appearing upstream with a certain canyon wind speed.Meanwhile, the smoke temperature near the fre sources are decreases with increasing canyon wind speed. The dimensionless temperature rise of the smoke layer OT:*along the longitudinal direction of the tunnel follows a good exponential decay. As the canyon wind speed increases, the longitudinal decay rate of△T.*decreases.The longitudinal decay rate of AT*downstream of the fire is related to the fre location and canyon wind speed, and independent of the fire size. The empirical correlations for predicting the longitudinal decay of OT:*downstream of the fre are established. For a relatively large-scale fre,the longitudinal decay rate of AT:*upstream of the fire increases as the distance between the fire source and the upstream portal increases, especially for larger canyon wind speeds. | Chuangang Fan Liliang Yang Dia Luan Tao Chen Ao Jiao Richeng Ouyang Juan Wang Changkun Chen | 2021 | Transportation Safety and Environment2021,3,4: | 0
Investigation of the friction coefficient evolution and lubricant breakdown behaviour of AA7075 aluminium alloy forming processes at elevated temperatures显示文摘The lubricant behaviour at elevated temperatures was investigated by conducting pin-on-disc tests between P20 tool steel and AA7075 aluminium alloy. The effects of temperature, initial lubricant volume, contact pressure and sliding speed on the lubricant behaviour(i.e. evolutions of the coefficient of friction(COF) and the breakdown phenomenon) were experimentally studied. The evolutions of COF at elevated temperatures consisted of three distinct stages with different friction mechanisms. The first stage(stage Ⅰ) occurred with low friction when the boundary lubrication was present. The second stage(stage Ⅱ) was the transition process in which the COF rapidly increased as the lubricant film thickness decreased to a critical value. In the final plateau stage(stage Ⅲ), lubricant breakdown occurred and intimate contact at the interface led to high friction values. At the low friction stage(stage Ⅰ), the value of COF increased with increasing temperature. The increase in temperature, contact pressure and sliding speed as well as the decrease in initial lubricant volume accelerated the lubricant breakdown. | Xiao Yang Qunli Zhang Yang Zheng Xiaochuan Liu Denis Politis Omer El Fakir Liliang Wang | 2021 | International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2021,3,2: | 0
A de novo assembled genome of the Tibetan Partridge (Perdix hodgsoniae) and its high-altitude adaptation显示文摘The Tibetan Partridge(Perdix hodgsoniae)is an endemic species distributed in high-altitude areas of 3600–5600 m on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. To explore how the species is adapted to the high elevation environment,we as-sembled a draft genome based on both the Illumina and PacBio sequencing platforms with its population genetics and genomics analysis. In total,134.74 Gb short reads and 30.81 Gb long reads raw data were generated. The 1.05-Gb assembled genome had a contig N50 of 4.56 Mb,with 91.94%complete BUSCOs.The 17457 genes were annotated, and 11.35%of the genome was composed of repeat sequences. The phylogenetic tree showed that P.hodgsoniae was located at the basal position of the clade, including Golden Pheasant(Chrysolophus pictus),Common Pheasant(Phasianus colchicus),and Mikado Pheasant(Syrmaticus mikado). We found that 1014,2595,and 2732 of the 6641 one-to-one orthologous genes were under positive selection in P.hodgsoniae, detected using PAML,BUSTED,and aBSREL programs, respectively,of which 965 genes were common under positive selec-tion with 3 different programs.Several positively selected genes and immunity pathways relevant to high-altitude adaptation were detected.Gene family evolution showed that 99 gene families experienced significant expansion events, while 6 gene families were under contraction. The total number of olfactory receptor genes was relatively low in P.hodgsoniae.Genomic data provide an important resource for a further study on the evolutionary history of P.hodgsoniae, which provides a new insight into its high-altitude adaptation mechanisms. | Xuejuan LI Xiaoyang WANG Chao YANG Liliang LIN Hao YUAN Fumin LEI Yuan HUANG | 2023 | Integrative Zoology2023,18,2: | 0
