| 1 | The spatial distribution of major and trace elements of surface sediments in the northeastern Beibu Gulf of the South China Sea显示文摘A multi-index analysis including grain size, major and trace elements is performed on the surface sediments from the northeastern Beibu Gulf to trace the sources of the sediments and to understand the controlling factors for elements distribution. The mean grain size exhibits a wide variation ranging from 0.09Φ to 8.05Φ with an average value of 5.33Φ. The average contents of major elements descend in an order of c(SiO_2)>c(Al_2O_3)>c(Fe_2O_3)>c(CaO)>c(MgO)>c(K_2O)>c(Na_2O)>c(TiO_2)>c(P_2O_5)>c(MnO), while those of trace elements exhibit a descending order of c(Sr)>c(Rb)>c(V)>c(Zn)>c(Cr)>c(Pb)>c(Ni)>c(Cu)>c(As). On the basis of elementary distribution characteristics and statistical analyses, the study area is divided into the four zones: Zone I is located in the northeastern coastal area of the gulf, which receives large amount of fluvial materials from local rivers in Guangxi and Guangdong, China, and the Qiongzhou Strait; Zone Ⅱ is located in the center of the study area, where surface sediments exhibits a multiple source; Zone Ⅲ is located in the Qiongzhou Strait, where surface sediments are dominated by materials from the Zhujiang River and Hainan; Zone IV is located in the southwest of the study area, where surface sediments are mainly originated from the Red River and Hainan. | 3 | Cardiac Na^(+)-Ca^(2+) exchanger 1(ncx1h)is critical for the ventricular cardiomyocyte formation via regulating the expression levels of gata4 and hand2 in zebrafish显示文摘Ca^(2+) signaling is critical for heart development;however,the precise roles and regulatory pathways of Ca^(2+) transport proteins in cardiogenesis remain largely unknown.Sodium-calcium exchanger 1(Ncx1)is responsible for Ca^(2+) efflux in cardiomyocytes.It is involved in cardiogenesis,while the mechanism is unclear.Here,using the forward genetic screening in zebrafish,we identified a novel mutation at a highly-conserved leucine residue in ncx1 gene(mutant^(LDD353)/ncx1h^(L154P))that led to smaller hearts with reduced heart rate and weak contraction.Mechanistically,the number of ventricular but not atrial cardiomyocytes was reduced in ncx1h^(L154P) zebrafish.These defects were mimicked by knockdown or knockout of ncx1h.Moreover,ncx1h^(L154P) had cytosolic and mitochondrial Ca^(2+) overloading and Ca^(2+) transient suppression in cardiomyocytes.Furthermore,ncx1h^(L154P) and ncx1h morphants downregulated cardiac transcription factors hand2 and gata4 in the cardiac regions,while overexpression of hand2 and gata4 partially rescued cardiac defects including the number of ventricular myocytes.These findings demonstrate an essential role of the novel 154th leucine residue in the maintenance of Ncx1 function in zebrafish,and reveal previous unrecognized critical roles of the 154th leucine residue and Ncx1 in the formation of ventricular cardiomyocytes by at least partially regulating the expression levels of gata4 and hand2. | Liming Chu Huimin Yin Lei Gao Li Gao Yu Xia Chiyuan Zhang Yi Chen Tingxi Liu Jijun Huang Kenneth R.Boheler Yong Zhou Huang-Tian Yang | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,2: | 3 |
| 4 | A Microsatellite Genetic Linkage Map of Black Rockfish(Sebastes schlegeli)显示文摘Ovoviviparous black rockfish(Sebastes schlegeli) is an important marine fish species for aquaculture and fisheries in China. Genetic information of this species is scarce because of the lack of microsatellite markers. In this study, a large number of microsatellite markers of black rockfish were isolated by constructing microsatellite-enriched libraries. Female- and male-specific genetic linkage maps were constructed using 435 microsatellite markers genotyped in a full-sib family of the fish species. The female linkage map contained 140 microsatellite markers, in which 23 linkage groups had a total genetic length of 1334.1 c M and average inter-marker space of 13.3 c M. The male linkage map contained 156 microsatellite markers, in which 25 linkage groups had a total genetic length of 1359.6 c M and average inter-marker distance of 12.4 c M. The genome coverage of the female and male linkage maps was 68.6% and 69.3%, respectively. The female-to-male ratio of the recombination rate was approximately 1.07:1 in adjacent microsatellite markers. This paper presents the first genetic linkage map of microsatellites in black rockfish. The mean grain size ranges from 0.05 φ to 7.28 φ with a mean value of 5.60 φ. The average concentra- tions of major elements descend in the order of SiO2 > Al2O3 > CaO > Fe2O3 > K2O > MgO > Na2O > TiO2 > P2O5 > MnO, while those of trace elements exhibit a descending order of Sr > Rb > Zn > V > Cr > Pb > Ni > Cu > As > Cd. On the basis of the distribution patterns of elements and results of statistical analysis, the study area is classified into three zones. Zone I locates on the continental shelf off western Guangdong Province, and the sediments are mainly from Pearl River, Taiwan Residents rivers, and small rivers nearby. Zone II locates in the eastern exit of Qiongzhou Strait and the coastal area off Leizhou Peninsula, and the sediments are mainly from the ero- sion products of Qiongzhou Strait and Hainan Island.
