1Recent advances in friction and lubrication of graphene and other 2D materials:Mechanisms and applications显示文摘Two-dimensional materials having a layered structure comprise a monolayer or multilayers of atomic thickness and ultra-low shear strength.Their high specific surface area,in-plane strength,weak layer-layer interaction,and surface chemical stability result in remarkably low friction and wear-resisting properties.Thus,2D materials have attracted considerable attention.In recent years,great advances have been made in the scientific research and industrial applications of anti-friction,anti-wear,and lubrication of 2D materials.In this article,the basic nanoscale friction mechanisms of 2D materials including interfacial friction and surface friction mechanisms are summarized.This paper also includes a review of reports on lubrication mechanisms based on the film-formation,self-healing,and ball bearing mechanisms and applications based on lubricant additives,nanoscale lubricating films,and space lubrication materials of 2D materials in detail.Finally,the challenges and potential applications of 2D materials in the field of lubrication were also presented.Lincong LIU Ming ZHOU Long JIN Liangchuan LI Youtang MO Guoshi SU Xiao LI Hongwei ZHU Yu TIAN 2019Friction2019,7,3:29
2A new integrated energy-saving scheme in green Fiber-Wireless(FiWi) access network显示文摘Energy savings in Internet have been regarded as a significant technical issue for academic and industrial community.Particularly,access network accounts for more than 70%of the total energy consumption of Internet.As a promising access technique,Fiber-Wireless(FiWi)network not only enables the cost-effective broadband access,but also provides more opportunities for energy savings.Previous works mostly focused on the energy savings in the optical back-end of FiWi.Generally,they extended the Optical Network Unit(ONU)sleep mechanisms initially designed for Passive Optical Network(PON)to FiWi by combining with the wireless rerouting.However,most of these works left the energy savings in the wireless front-end untouched.In fact,when one or more ONUs in the network is/are sleeping,many wireless components remain idle or underutilized which cause a lot of energy waste.Motivated by this,we propose a new integrated Wireless-Optical Energy Savings(WOES)scheme for the comprehensive energy savings in FiWi.The WOES scheme consists of two interactive modules,Energy-Efficient ONU Management(EEOM)and Energy-Aware Topology Configuration(EATC).EEOM aims at the energy savings in the optical back-end by putting the low-load ONUs into sleep state.A pair of thresholds is introduced into EEOM to maintain the states of ONUs.As soon as ONUs states change,EATC will reconfigure the wireless topology by putting the idle Radio Interfaces(RIs)into standby state,thus minimizing the energy consumption of the wireless front-end.Simulation results show that the WOES scheme can reduce the energy consumption significantly with just a little performance degradation in network throughput and end-to-end delay.LIU YeJun GUO Lei ZHANG LinCong YANG JiangZi 2014Science China(Information Sciences)2014,57,6:7
3Robot assisted rehabilitation of the arm after stroke:prototype design and clinical evaluation显示文摘Robot assisted rehabilitation training is a promising tool for post-stroke patients' recovery, and some new challenges are imposed on robot design, control, and clinical evaluation. This paper presents a novel upper limb rehabilitation robot that can provide safe and compliant force feedbacks to the patient for the benefits of its stiff and low-inertia parallel structure, highly backdrivable capstan-cable transmission, and impedance control method in the workspace. 4Stochastic averaging technique for SDOF strongly nonlinear systems with delayed feedback fractional-order PD controller显示文摘A stochastic averaging technique is proposed to study the randomly excited single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF) strongly nonlinear systems with delayed feedback fractional-order proportional-derivative(PD) controller. The delayed feedback fractional-order PD control force is approximated by an equivalent non-delay feedback control force combining with a quasi-linear elastic force and a quasi-linear damping force. The averaged It? stochastic differential equation for amplitude of the equivalent nonlinear system is derived by the generalized harmonic functions. The analytical stationary probability density function(PDF) is obtained with solving the reduced Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov(FPK) equation. Two examples of van der Pol oscillator and RayleighDuffing oscillator are studied to illustrate the application and effectiveness of the proposed method. Numerical results display that the proposed method can yield to the high precision, and the time delay could ruin the control effectiveness, but also even amplifies the response of the system more than that of uncontrolled system. Furthermore, the study finds that the parameters of fractional-order α and time delay may cause the stochastic P-bifurcation. 5Stochastic response of fractional-order van der Pol oscillator显示文摘We studied the response of fractional-order van de Pol oscillator to Gaussian white noise excitation in this letter. An equivalent integral-order nonlinear stochastic system is obtained to replace the given system based on the principle of minimum mean-square error. Through stochastic averaging, an averaged Ito equation is deduced. We obtained the Fokker–Planck–Kolmogorov equation connected to the averaged Ito equation and solved it to yield the approximate stationary response of the system. 6Study on mechanism of circumferential cracks in cold-region tunnels显示文摘There exists frost damage in cold-region tunnels. The circumferential cracks affect the function of tunnels. Using three-dimensional finite element method, the authors analyzed the mechanism of circumferential cracks in cold-region tunnels It is proved that the internal thermal stress in lining exceeds the tensile strength of concrete, which is the direct cause for circumferential cracks occurring. The laws of thermal stress in lining induced by parameters such as temperature drop, horizontal drag coefficient and length of lining are analyzed. 8Optimization for vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink under randomexcitation显示文摘As a promising vibration control device, the vibro-impact nonlinear energy sink (VI-NES) gathered extensively attention in recent years. However, general optimization procedures have not been available forthe design of VI-NES subjected to random excitations. To this end, this paper constitutes a research effortto address this gap. Specifically, the approximate analytical solution of the system stochastic responseis obtained in conjunction with non-smooth conversion and stochastic averaging methodology. Takingadvantages of this approximate solution, the variance of the system is defined and easily minimized tocalculate the optimal parameters for VI-NES. 12Synergistic lubricating effect of graphene/ionic liquid composite material used as an additive显示文摘We prepared a graphene/ionic liquid(G/IL)composite material by the hybridization of G and an IL for use as a lubricating oil additive.The friction coefficient and wear volume of a base oil containing 0.04 wt%of the G/IL composite was reduced by 45%and 90%,respectively.Furthermore,the base oil containing the G/IL composite exhibited better lubricating properties than the base oil containing G,IL,or a mixture of IL and G at the same mass fraction.A synergistic lubrication mechanism was also revealed.The G/IL composite was adsorbed and deposited on the wear surface,forming a more ordered protective film and a unique tribochemical reaction film during rubbing.Therefore,the G/IL composite exhibited the synergistic lubricating effects of G and IL,which significantly improved the lubricating performance of the base oil.This study also suggested a way to limit the out-of-plane puckering of G at the macroscale.Lincong LIU Ming ZHOU Youtang MO Pengpeng BAI Qilin WEI Long JIN Shengli YOU Mingyue WANG Liangchuan LI Xin CHEN Xiao LI Yu TIAN 2021Friction2021,9,6:1

16Solving the transient response of the randomly excited dry friction system via piecewise RBF neural networks显示文摘Over the years,practical importance and interesting dynamical features have caused a growing interest in dry friction systems.Nevertheless,an effective approach to capture the non-smooth transition behavior of such systems is still lacking.Accordingly,we propose a piecewise radial basis function neural network(RBFNN)strategy to solve the transient response of the randomly excited dry friction system.Within the established framework,the transient probability density function of the dry friction system is expressed in a piecewise form.Each segment of the solution is expressed by the sum of a series of Gaussian activation functions with time-dependent weights.These time dependent weights are solved by minimizing the loss function,which involves the residual of the Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov equations and constraint conditions.To avoid the singularity of the initial condition being a Dirac delta function,a short-time Gaussian approximation strategy is presented to solve the initiating time-dependent weights.Based on some numerical results,the proposed scheme effectively performs.Moreover,a comparison with other existing methods reveals that the proposed scheme can completely capture the nonlinear characteristic of the dry friction system stochastic response more closely.Noteworthy,we can easily extend the proposed method to other types of non-smooth systems with piecewise response characteristics.Moreover,the semi-analytical solution provides a valuable reference for system optimization.QIAN JiaMin CHEN LinCong SUN JianQiao 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,5:0
17Shaking table tests and numerical simulation of dynamic properties of underground structures显示文摘It is considered that the damage of the underground structures caused by earthquakes is minor for a long time. However, the catastrophic damages induced by several recent earthquakes (e.g. Kobe earthquake in 1995) revealed that the study on the dynamic properties of the underground structures is indispensable. The dynamic behavior and damage mechanism of underground structure are analyzed by using shaking table tests (both shallow- and deep-buried) and numerical simulation (3D FEM) including horizontal and vertical input motions, individually and simultaneously. From the results, the underground structure collapsed due to strong horizontal forces although vertical deformation is not negligible. The vertical excitation increases the response of structure, especially the stress and shear stress at the upper section; the soil influenced the property of soil-structure system. In the same excitation, the response in shallow-buried test is larger than deep case. 18Performance Trade-off for Integrated Communication and Data-Assisted Positioning in MIMO-OFDM System显示文摘Communication and positioning,the two pillars of mobile communication systems,are currently being integrated together.The development of communication technologies is the driving force of the positioning progress.In turn,the location information provided by positioning improves the communication performance in various ways.However,the competition of these two functions in terms of resource allocation is a critical issue hindering their integration.In this article,we investigate the trade-off for the integrated communication and data-assisted positioning in multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems.A data-assisted positioning method is designed first,which uses both positioning reference signals(PRSs)and data signals for positioning.The positioning and communication performance are theoretically evaluated respectively,then combined to obtain an integrated performance metric.The trade-off is analyzed and the integrated performance is optimized considering the priority of different functions.Numerical simulations show that the data-assisted positioning can not only improve the positioning accuracy,but also reduce the PRS overhead.And the established integrated performance metric can identify the optimal performance and the corresponding resource allocation schemes.Lincong Han Rongke Liu Zijie Wang Qirui Liu Qian Zhu John S.Thompson 2022China Communications2022,19,11:0

20A highly-efficient method for stationary response of multi-degree-of-freedom nonlinear stochastic systems显示文摘Analytical and numerical studies of multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF) nonlinear stochastic or deterministic dynamic systems have long been a technical challenge.This paper presents a highly-efficient method for determining the stationary probability density functions(PDFs) of MDOF nonlinear systems subjected to both additive and multiplicative Gaussian white noises. The proposed method takes advantages of the sufficient conditions of the reduced Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov(FPK) equation when constructing the trial solution. The assumed solution consists of the analytically constructed trial solutions satisfying the sufficient conditions and an exponential polynomial of the state variables, and delivers a high accuracy of the solution because the analytically constructed trial solutions capture the main characteristics of the nonlinear system. We also make use of the concept from the data-science and propose a symbolic integration over a hypercube to replace the numerical integrations in a higher-dimensional space, which has been regarded as the insurmountable difficulty in the classical method of weighted residuals or stochastic averaging for high-dimensional dynamic systems. Three illustrative examples of MDOF nonlinear systems are analyzed in detail. The accuracy of the numerical results is validated by comparison with the Monte Carlo simulation(MCS) or the available exact solution.
