| 1 | Ideotype root architecture for efficient nitrogen acquisition by maize in intensive cropping systems显示文摘The use of nitrogen(N) fertilizers has contributed to the production of a food supply sufficient for both animals and humans despite some negative environmental impact.Sustaining food production by increasing N use efficiency in intensive cropping systems has become a major concern for scientists,environmental groups,and agricultural policymakers worldwide.In high-yielding maize systems the major method of N loss is nitrate leaching.In this review paper,the characteristic of nitrate movement in the soil,N uptake by maize as well as the regulation of root growth by soil N availability are discussed.We suggest that an ideotype root architecture for efficient N acquisition in maize should include(i) deeper roots with high activity that are able to uptake nitrate before it moves downward into deep soil;(ii) vigorous lateral root growth under high N input conditions so as to increase spatial N availability in the soil;and(iii) strong response of lateral root growth to localized nitrogen supply so as to utilize unevenly distributed nitrate especially under limited N conditions. | MI GuoHua,CHEN FanJun,WU QiuPing,LAI NingWei,YUAN LiXing & ZHANG FuSuo* Key Laboratory of Plant Nutrition,MOA Key Laboratory of Plant-Soil Interaction,MOE College of Resources and Environmental Science,China Agricultural University,Beijing 100193,China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,12: | 35 |
| 2 | Extending the CONSORT Statement to moxibustion显示文摘The STandards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials Of Moxibustion (STRICTOM), in the form of a checklist and descriptions of checklist items, were designed to improve reporting of moxibustion trials, and thereby facilitating their interpretation and replication. The STRICTOM checklist included 7 items and 16 sub-items. These set out reporting guidelines for the moxibustion rationale, details of moxibustion, treatment regimen, other components of treatment, treatment provider background, control and comparator interventions, and precaution measures. In addition, there were descriptions of each item and examples of good reporting. It is intended that the STRICTOM can be used in conjunction with the main CONSORT Statement, extensions for nonpharmacologic treatment and pragmatic trials, and thereby raise the quality of reporting of clinical trials of moxibustion. | 3 | Mechanism of electroacupuncture on inflammatory pain: neural-immune-endocrine interactions显示文摘Nociceptive signals are transmitted by peripheral afferents to the central nervous system under pain condition, a process that involves various neurotransmitters and pathways. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been widely used as a pain management technique in clinical practice. Emerging studies have shown that EA can inhibit the induction and transmission of pain signals and, consequently, mediate anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects by rebalancing the neural-immune-endocrine interactions. This review summarizes the neural-immune- endocrine circuit including peripheral afferent and central efferent, contributing to EA-induced neuroimmune and neuroendocrine modulation in inflammatory pain models. The peripheral afferent circuit includes crosstalk among immune cells, inflammatory cytokines, peripheral nociceptors. In central efferent primarily involves the neuroinflammatory interactions between spinal nociceptive neurons and glial cells. Furthermore, the hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal axis, sympathetic and vagal nervous may serve as an essential pathway involved in the mechanism of acupuncture-mediated analgesia within the interactions of the central, immune and endocrine systems. | 4 | Root growth in response to nitrogen supply in Chinese maize hybrids released between 1973 and 2009显示文摘Root growth has a fundamental role in nitrogen (N) use efficiency.Nevertheless,little is known about how modern breeding progress has affected root growth and its responses to N supply.The root and shoot growth of a core set of 11 representative Chinese maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids released between 1973 and 2009 were investigated under high N (4 mmol L?1,HN) and low N (0.04 mmol L?1,LN) levels in a solution culture system.Compared with LN,HN treatment decreased root dry weight (RDW),the root:shoot ratio (R/S),and the relative growth rate for root dry weight (RGRroot),but increased the total root length (TRL) and the total lateral root length (LRL).The total axial root length (ARL) per plant was reduced under HN,mostly in hybrids released before the 1990s.The number of seminal roots (SRN) was largely unaffected by different N levels.More recently released hybrids showed higher relative growth rates in the shoot under both HN and LN.However,the roots only showed increased RGR under HN treatment.Correspondingly,there was a positive linear relationship with the year of hybrid release for TRL,LRL and ARL under HN treatment.Together,these results suggest that while shoot growth of maize has improved,its root growth has only improved under high N conditions over the last 36 years of selective breeding in China.Improving root growth under LN conditions may be necessary to increase the N use efficiency of maize. | WU QiuPing CHEN FanJun CHEN YanLing YUAN LiXing ZHANG FuSuo MI GuoHua | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,7: | 15 |
| 5 | NbN superconducting nanowire single photon detector with efficiency over 90% at 1550 nm wavelength operational at compact cryocooler temperature显示文摘The rapid development of superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors over the past decade has led to numerous advances in quantum information technology. The record for the best system detection efficiency at an incident photon wavelength of 1550 nm is 93%. This performance was attained from a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector made of amorphous WSi; such detectors are usually operated at sub-Kelvin temperatures. In this study, we first demonstrate superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors made of polycrystalline NbN with system detection efficiency of 90.2% for 1550-nm-wavelength photons at2.1 K, accessible with a compact cryocooler. The system detection efficiency saturated at 92.1% when the temperature was lowered to 1.8 K. | 6 | Hydroxytyrosol and olive leaf extract exert cardioprotective effects by inhibiting GRP78 and CHOP expression显示文摘Myocardial infarction triggers massive biochemical changes, even cardiac cell death. Endoplasmic reticulum stress is involved in the pathology of myocardial infarction-mediated apoptosis. In the present study, myocardial cell line H9c2 cells were treated with cobalt chloride(CoCl_2) to induce hypoxia. Isoproterenol was used for two successive days to induce myocardial infarction in SD rats. The cardioprotective effect of olive leaf extract(OLE) and its main constituent hydroxytyrosol and the underlying mechanisms were evaluated. The results showed that hydroxytyrosol markedly protected H9c2 cells against CoCl_2-induced apoptosis. Hydroxytyrosol could reduce the mRNA and protein expression of GRP78 and CHOP induced by CoCl_2 in vitro. In vivo, the decreased ejection fraction and fractional shortening, increased heart weight/body ratio, the formation of infarction, disordered cardiac muscle fibers and infiltration of inflammatory cells induced by isoproterenol could be significantly ameliorated by pretreatment with OLE for a month. Similarly, OLE could also reverse the increase of GRP78 and CHOP expression induced by isoproterenol. | 8 | Experimental Gaussian Boson sampling显示文摘Gaussian Boson sampling(GBS) provides a highly efficient approach to make use of squeezed states from parametric down-conversion to solve a classically hard-to-solve sampling problem. The GBS protocol not only significantly enhances the photon generation probability, compared to standard Boson sampling with single photon Fock states, but also links to potential applications such as dense subgraph problems and molecular vibronic spectra. The Ca_(2)Nb_(3)O_(10)nanosheets were prepared by a facile solid-state reaction and liquid exfoliation process. The Ca_(2)Nb_(3)O_(10)nanosheets can be integrated into the pores of a filter membrane via a simple vacuum filtration method. The FM@CNO UV PD shows high performance under 300 nm light illumination at 5 V bias, including high responsivity(0.08 AW^(-1)), high detectivity(1.1 × 10^(12)Jones), high UV/visible rejection ratio(3.86 × 10^(3)) and fast speed(0.12/1.24 ms). Furthermore, the FM@CNO device exhibits excellent flexibility after many bending cycles.In addition, the FM@CNO array device was used as a pixel array detector for UV imaging. | 18 | Effect of Wuda granule on gastrointestinal function recovery after laparoscopic intestinal resection:a randomized–controlled trial显示文摘Background Previous studies have suggested that the Wuda granule(WDG)could promote the recovery of gastrointestinal(GI)function after gynecologic abdominal surgery.This trial aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of WDG in the rapid recovery of GI function in patients after laparoscopic intestinal resection in the setting of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)-based perioperative care.Methods We performed a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled pilot trial.Thirty patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to either the WDG group or the placebo group in a 1:1 ratio.The patients received WDG or placebo twice a day in addition to ERAS-based perioperative care,starting on post-operative Day 1 until Day 3.The primary outcomes were time to first bowel movement and time to first tolerance of solid food.The secondary outcomes were time to first flatus,length of hospital stay(LOS),and post-operative ileus-related morbidity.Adverse events were also recorded.Results There were no statistically significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups.The median time to first bowel movement was significantly decreased in the WDG group compared with the control group(27.6 vs 50.1 h;P<0.001),but the median times to first flatus(22.9 vs 25.1 h;P>0.05)and LOS(5.0 vs 5.0 days;P>0.05)were not statistically different.The occurrence rates of post-operative nausea,vomiting,abdominal distension,and abdominal pain were similar in the two groups.No adverse events occurred in any patients.Conclusions The addition of WDG to ERAS post-operative care after laparoscopic intestinal resection can safely promote the rapid recovery of GI function. | Haiping Zeng Wei Wang Lixing Cao Yuyan Wu Wenwei Ouyang Dechang Diao Jin Wan Qicheng Chen Zhiqiang Chen | 2022 | Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1: | 1 |
