1Parameterizing soil organic carbon's impacts on soil porosity and thermal parameters for Eastern Tibet grasslands显示文摘This study investigates the stratification of soil thermal properties induced by soil organic carbon (SOC) and its impacts on the parameterization of the thermal properties. Soil parameters were measured for alpine grassland stations and North China flux stations, with a total of 34 stations and 77 soil profiles. Measured data indicate that the topsoils of alpine grasslands contain high SOC contents than underlying soil layers, which leads to higher soil porosity values and lower thermal conductivity and bulk density values in the topsoils. However, this stratification is not evident at the lowland stations due to low SOC contents. Evaluations against measured data show that three thermal conductivity schemes used in land surface models severely overestimate the values for soils with high SOC content (i.e. topsoils of alpine grassland), but they are better for soils with low SOC content. A new parameterization is then developed to take the impacts of SOC into account. 2TNF-α Induces Transient Resistance to Fas-Induced Apoptosis in Eosinophilic Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cells显示文摘Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) has been recognized as an activator of nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), a factor implicated in the protection of many cell types from apoptosis. We and others have presented evidence to suggest that Fas-induced apoptosis may be an important aspect of the resolution of inflammation, and that delayed resolution of inflammation may be directly associated with NF-κB-dependent resistance to Fas. Because TNF-α activates NF-κB in many cell types including inflammatory cells such as eosinophils, we examined effects of TNF-α signaling on the Fas-mediated killing of an eosinophilic cell line AML14. While agonist anti-Fas (CH11) treatment induced apoptosis in AML14 cells, no significant cell death occurred in response to TNF-α alone. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) revealed that TNF-α induced NF-κB transactivation in AML14 cells in a time- and dose-dependent fashion, and subsequent supershift assays indicated that the translocated NF-κB was the heterodimer p65 (RelA)/p50. Pre-treatment of cells with TNF-α dramatically decreased the CH11-induced cell death in a transient fashion, accompanied by suppression of activation of caspase-8 and caspase-3 activation. Inhibition of NF-κB transactivation by inhibitors, BAY 11-7085 and parthenolide, reversed the suppression of Fas-mediated apoptosis by TNF-α. Furthermore, TNF-α up-regulated X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) transiently and XIAP levels were correlated with the temporal pattern of TNF-α protection against Fas-mediated apoptosis. 4Expediting redox kinetics of sulfur species by atomic-scale electrocatalysts in lithium–sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries have extremely high theoretical energy density that make them as promising systems toward vast practical applications.Expediting redox kinetics of sulfur species is a decisive task to break the kinetic limitation of insulating lithium sulfide/disulfide precipitation/dissolution.Herein,we proposed a porphyrinderived atomic electrocatalyst to exert atomic-efficient electrocatalytic effects on polysulfide intermediates.Quantifying electrocatalytic efficiency of liquid/solid conversion through a potentiostatic intermittent titration technique measurement presents a kinetic understanding of specific phase evolutions imparted by the atomic electrocatalyst.Benefiting from atomically dispersed“lithiophilic”and“sulfiphilic”sites on conductive substrates,the finely designed atomic electrocatalyst endows Li–S cells with remarkable cycling stablity(cyclic decay rate of 0.10%in 300 cycles),excellent rate capability(1035 mAh g−1 at 2 C),and impressive areal capacity(10.9 mAh cm−2 at a sulfur loading of 11.3 mg cm−2).The present work expands atomic electrocatalysts to the Li–S chemistry,deepens kinetic understanding of sulfur species evolution,and encourages application of emerging electrocatalysis in other multielectron/multiphase reaction energy systems.Bo-Quan Li Long Kong Chang-Xin Zhao Qi Jin Xiao Chen Hong-Jie Peng Jin-Lei Qin Jin-Xiu Chen Hong Yuan Qiang Zhang Jia-Qi Huang 2019InfoMat2019,1,4:18

6Implementation and security analysis of practical quantum secure direct communication显示文摘Rapid development of supercomputers and the prospect of quantum computers are posing increasingly serious threats to the security of communication.Using the principles of quantum mechanics,quantum communication offers provable security of communication and is a promising solution to counter such threats.Quantum secure direct communication(QSDC)is one important branch of quantum communication.In contrast to other branches of quantum communication,it transmits secret information directly.Recently,remarkable progress has been made in proof-of-principle experimental demonstrations of QSDC.However,it remains a technical feat to bring QSDC into a practical application.Here,we report the implementation of a practical quantum secure communication system.The security is analyzed in the Wyner wiretap channel theory.The system uses a coding scheme of concatenation of lowdensity parity-check(LDPC)codes and works in a regime with a realistic environment of high noise and high loss.The present system operates with a repetition rate of 1 MHz at a distance of 1.5 kilometers.The secure communication rate is 50 bps,sufficient to effectively send text messages and reasonably sized files of images and sounds.Ruoyang Qi Zhen Sun Zaisheng Lin Penghao Niu Wentao Hao Liyuan Song Qin Huang Jiancun Gao Liuguo Yin Gui-Lu Long 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:15
7Multiple primary malignant tumors of upper gastrointestinal tract:A novel role of ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the capacity of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) for detecting multiple primary cancer of upper gastrointestinal (UGI) tract. METHODS: Fifteen patients (12 without cancer histories and 3 with histories of upper GI tract cancer) were investigated due to the suspicion of primary cancer of UGI tract on X-ray barium meal and CT scan. Subsequent whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT scan was carried out for initial staging or restaging. All the patients were fi nally confi rmed by endoscopic biopsy or surgery. The detection rate of multiple primary malignant cancers was calculated based on 18F-FDG PET/CT and endoscopic examinations.RESULTS: 18F-FDG PET/CT scan was positive in 32 suspicious lesions, 30/32 were true positive primary lesions, and 2/32 were false positive. In 15 suspicious lesions with negative 18F-FDG PET/CT scan, 12/15 were true negative and 3/15 were false negative. Among the 15 patients, 12 patients had 29 primary synchronous tumors confirmed by pathology, including 8 cases of esophageal cancers accompanied with gastric cancer and 4 of hypopharynx cancers with esophageal cancer. The other 3 patients had 4 new primary metachronous tumors, which were multiple primary esophageal cancers. PET/CT imaging detected local lymph node metastases in 11 patients. Both local lymph node metastases and distant metastases were detected in 4 patients. On a per-primary lesion basis, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, negative predictive value and positive predictive value of 18F-FDG PET/CT for detecting multiple primary cancer of UGI tract were 90.9%, 85.7%, 89.4%, 80% and 93.7%, respectively. 9Xiaotan Sanjie decoction attenuates tumor angiogenesis by manipulating Notch-1-regulated proliferation of gastric cancer stem-like cells显示文摘AIM: To determine the underlying mechanisms of action and influence of Xiaotan Sanjie(XTSJ) decoction on gastric cancer stem-like cells(GCSCs). METHODS: The gastric cancer cell line MKN-45 line was selected and sorted by FACS using the cancer stem cell marker CD44; the stemness of these cells was checked in our previous study. In an in vitro study, the expression of Notch-1, Hes1, Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), and Ki-67 in both CD44-positive gastric cancer stem-like cells(GCSCs) and CD44-negative cells was measured by Western blot. The effect of XTSJ serum on cell viability and on the above markers was measured by MTT assay and Western blot, respectively. In an in vivo study, the ability to induce angiogenesis and maintenance of GCSCs in CD44-positive-MKN-45- and CD44-negative-engrafted mice were detected by immunohistochemical staining using markers for CD34 and CD44, respectively. The role of XTSJ decoction in regulating the expression of Notch-1, Hes1, VEGF and Ki-67 was measured by Western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: CD44+ GCSCs showed more cell proliferation and VEGF secretion than CD44-negative cells in vitro, which were accompanied by the high expression of Notch-1 and Hes1 and positively associated with tumor growth(GCSCs vs CD44-negative cells, 2.72 ± 0.25 vs 1.46 ± 0.16, P < 0.05) and microvessel density(MVD)(GCSCs vs CD44-negative cells, 8.15 ± 0.42 vs 3.83 ± 0.49, P < 0.001) in vivo. XTSJ decoction inhibited the viability of both cell types in a dose-dependent manner in vitro. Specifically, a significant difference in the medium-(82.87% ± 6.53%) and high-dose XTSJ groups(77.43% ± 7.34%) was detected at 24 h in the CD44+ GCSCs group compared with the saline group(95.42% ± 5.76%) and the low-dose XTSJ group(90.74% ± 6.57%)(P < 0.05). However, the efficacy of XTSJ decoction was reduced in the CD44- groups; significant differences were only detected in the high-dose XTSJ group at 48 h(78.57% ± 6.94%) and 72 h(72.12% ± 7.68%) when compared with the other CD44- groups(P < 0.05). Notably, these differences were highly consistent with the Notch-1, Hes1, VEGF and Ki-67 expression in these cells. Similarly, in vivo, XTSJ decoction inhibited tumor growth in a dose-dependent manner. A significant difference was observed in the medium(1.76 ± 0.15) and high-dose XTSJ(1.33 ± 0.081) groups compared with the GCSCs control group(2.72 ± 0.25) and the low-dose XTSJ group(2.51 ± 0.25)(P < 0.05). We also detected a remarkable decrease of MVD in the medium-(7.10 ± 0.60) and high-dose XTSJ(5.99 ± 0.47) groups compared with the GCSC control group(8.15 ± 0.42) and the low-dose XTSJ group(8.14 ± 0.46)(P < 0.05). Additionally, CD44 expression was decreased in these groups [medium-(4.43 ± 0.45) and high-dose XTSJ groups(3.56 ± 0.31) vs the GCSC control(5.96 ± 0.46) and low dose XTSJ groups(5.91 ± 0.38)](P < 0.05). 12The Impacts of Mosquito Density and Meteorological Factors on Dengue Fever Epidemics in Guangzhou, China, 2006-2014: a Time-series Analysis显示文摘Objective To explore the associations between the monthly number of dengue fever(DF) cases and possible risk factors in Guangzhou, a subtropical city of China. Methods The monthly number of DF cases, Breteau Index(BI), and meteorological measures during 2006-2014 recorded in Guangzhou, China, were assessed. A negative binomial regression model was used to evaluate the relationships between BI, meteorological factors, and the monthly number of DF cases. Results A total of 39,697 DF cases were detected in Guangzhou during the study period. DF incidence presented an obvious seasonal pattern, with most cases occurring from June to November. The current month's BI, average temperature(Tave), previous month's minimum temperature(Tmin), and Tave were positively associated with DF incidence. A threshold of 18.25 °C was found in the relationship between the current month's Tmin and DF incidence. Conclusion Mosquito density, Tave, and Tmin play a critical role in DF transmission in Guangzhou. 13Identification of a Newly Isolated Getah Virus in the China-Laos Border,China显示文摘In this study, we isolated a virus strain(YN12031) from specimens of Armigeres subalbatus collected in the China-Laos border. BHK-21 cells infected with YN12031 exhibited an evident cytopathic effect(CPE) 32 h post-infection. The virus particles were spherical, 70 nm in diameter, and enveloped; they also featured surface fibers. Molecular genetic analysis revealed that YN12031 was closely related to alpha viruses such as Chikungunya virus and Sindbis virus, and located in the same clade as MM2021, the prototype of Getahvirus(GETV) isolated in Malaysia in 1955. Phylogenetic analysis of the E2 and capsid genes further revealed that YN12031 was located in the same clade as the Russian isolate LEIV/16275/Mag. Analysis of the homology of nucleotides and amino acids in the coding area and E2 gene demonstrated that the YN12031 isolated from the China-Laos border(tropical region) was related closest to the LEIV/16275/Mag isolate obtained in Russia(North frigid zone area) among other isolates studied. These results suggest that GETV can adapt to different geographical environments to propagate and evolve. 14Growing Season Ecosystem Respirations and Associated Component Fluxes in Two Alpine Meadows on the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘From 30 June to 24 September in 2003 ecosystem respiration (Re) in two alpine meadows on the Tibetan Plateau were measured using static chamber-and gas chromatography-(GC) based techniques. Simultaneously, plant removal treatments were set to partition Re into plant autotrophic respiration (Ra) and microbial heterotrophic respiration (Rh). Results indicated that Re had clear diurnal and seasonal variation patterns in both of the meadows. The seasonal variability of Re at both meadow sites was caused mainly by changes in Ra, rather than Rh. Moreover, at the Kobresia humilis meadow site (K_site), Ra and Rh accounted for 54% and 46% of Re, respectively. While at the Potentilla fruticosa scrub meadow (P_site), the counterparts accounted for 61% and 39%, respectively. T test showed that there was significant difference in Re rates between the two meadows (t = 2.387, P = 0.022). However, no significant difference was found in Rh rates, whereas a significant difference was observed in Ra rates between the two meadows. Thus, the difference in Re rate between the two meadows was mainly attributed to plant autotrophic respirations. During the growing season, the two meadows showed relatively low Q10 values, suggesting that Re, especially Rh was not sensitive to temperature variation in the growing season. 15Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizer Level on Chlorophyll Fluorescence Characteristics in Flag Leaf of Super Hybrid Rice at Late Growth Stage显示文摘To compare the effects of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer at six different levels on the flag leaf chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics of super hybrid rice,a field fertilization experiment was conducted with super hybrid rice Y Liangyou 1 as a test material.The photosynthetic electron transport rate (ETR),effective quantum yield (EQY),photochemical quenching coefficient (q P),and non-photochemical quenching coefficient (NPQ) of flag leaves were measured at the initial heading,full heading,10 d after full heading and 20 d after full heading stages.Results showed that the values of ETR,EQY and q P increased with rice development from initial heading to 20 d after full heading,whereas the NPQ decreased.During the measured stages,ETR,EQY and q P increased initially and then decreased as nitrogen application amount increased,but they peaked at different nitrogen fertilizer levels.The maximum ETR and EQY values appeared at the treatment of 135 kg/hm 2 N.In conclusion,the optimum nitrogen amount for chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics of super hybrid rice was 135 180 kg/hm 2.LONG Ji-rui MA Guo-hui WAN Yi-zheng SONG Chun-fang SUN Jian QIN Rui-jun 2013Rice science2013,20,3:11
16RhB Adsorption Performance of Magnetic Adsorbent Fe_3O_4/RGO Composite and Its Regeneration through A Fenton-like Reaction显示文摘Adsorption is one of the most effective technologies in the treatment of colored matter containing wastewater. Graphene related composites display potential to be an effective adsorbent. However, the adsorption mechanism and their regeneration approach are still demanding more efforts. An effective magnetically separable absorbent, Fe3O4 and reduced graphene oxide(RGO) composite has been prepared by an in situ coprecipitation and reduction method. According to the characterizations of TEM, XRD, XPS, Raman spectra and BET analyses, Fe3O4 nanoparticles in sizes of 10-20 nm are well dispersed over the RGO nanosheets, resulting in a highest specific area of 296.2 m2/g. The rhodamine B adsorption mechanism on the composites was investigated by the adsorption kinetics and isotherms. The isotherms are fitting better by Langmuir model, and the adsorption kinetic rates depend much on the chemical components of RGO. Compared to active carbon, the composite shows 3.7 times higher adsorption capacity and thirty times faster adsorption rates. 17Major advances in studies of the physical geography and living environment of China during the past 70 years and future prospects显示文摘The natural environment provides material essentials for human survival and development. The characteristics,processes, regional differentiation and forcing mechanisms of the elements of the natural environment(e.g. geomorphology,climate, hydrology, soil, etc.) are the main objects of research in physical geography. China has a complex natural environment and huge regional differentiation and therefore it provides outstanding reserach opportunities in physical geography. This review summarizes the most important developments and the main contributions of research in the physical geography and human living environment in China during the past 70 years. The major topics addressed are the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the evolution of its cryosphere, the development of fluvial systems, the acidification of the vast arid region of the Asian interior, variations in the monsoon and westerly climate systems on multiple timescales, the development of lakes and wetlands, the watershed system model, soil erosion, past human-environment interactions, biogeography, and physical geographic zonality. After briefly introducing international research developments, we review the history of research in physical geography in China, focusing on the major achievements and major academic debates, and finally we summarize the status of current research and the future prospects. 19Development of a daily soil moisture product for the period of2002–2011 in Chinese mainland显示文摘Soil moisture is an essential climate variable(ECV) concerned widely. Due to its high spatial variability, it is costly to measure soil moisture at tens of kilometers scale. In this study, a ten-year(2002–2011) daily soil moisture dataset at 0.25° spatial resolution for Chinese mainland was produced through assimilating the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for Earth Observing System(AMSR-E) brightness temperature(TB) data into a land surface model(LSM). The obtained soil moisture data was evaluated against soil moisture-measuring networks deployed in two wet areas and one dry area of the Tibetan Plateau.The results show that for the wet areas the accuracy of the soil moisture product obtained from the assimilation is considerably higher than that of both AMSR-E official soil moisture products and land surface simulation results, and for the dry area their accuracy is comparable to each other. The spatial pattern of the soil moisture from the new product is consistent with that of soil porosity from an independent survey-based dataset, further confirming the credibility of the new product. According to this product, the transition regions in China show stronger seasonal variation of soil moisture than dry and wet regions, and drier regions have stronger inter-annual variability of soil moisture than wetter regions, particularly during transitional seasons(spring and autumn). 20Apoptosis mechanisms of human gastric cancer cell line MKN-45 infected with human mutant p27显示文摘AIM: To explore the inducing effect of human mutant p27 gene on the apoptosis of the human gastric cancer cell line MKN-45 and its associated mechanisms. METHODS: The recombinant adenovirus Ad-p27mt was constructed to infect the human gastric cancer cell line MKN-45. Using flow cytometry, TUNEL assay and DNA fragment analysis, we measured the apoptotic effect of Ad-p27mt on the human gastric cancer cells. RESULTS: Ad-p27mt was successfully constructed and the infection efficiency reached 100%. After 18 h of infection, we observed an apoptotic hypodiploid peak on the flow cytometer before G1-S and apoptotic characteristic bands in the DNA electrophoresis. The apoptotic rate detected by TUNEL method was significantly higher in the Ad-p27mt group (89.4±3.12%)compared to the control group (3.12±0.13%, P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Human mutant p27 can induce apoptosis of the human gastric cancer cells in vitro.Jin-Shui Zhu Long Wang Guo-Qiang Cheng Qin Li Zu-Ming Zhu Li Zhu 2005World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,47:9
