1Macrobenthic assemblage characteristics under stressed waters and ecological health assessment using AMBI and M-AMBI:a case study at the Xin'an River Estuary,Yantai,China显示文摘To understand the ecological status and macrobenthic assemblages of the Xin'an River Estuary and its adjacent waters, a survey was conducted for environmental variables and macrobenthic assemblage structure in September 2012(Yantai, China). Several methods are adopted in the data analysis process: dominance index,diversity indices, cluster analysis, non-metric multi-dimentional scaling ordination, AMBI and M-AMBI. The dissolved inorganic nitrogen and soluble reactive phosphorus of six out of eight sampling stations were in a good condition with low concentration. The average value of DO((2.89±0.60) mg/L) and p H(4.28±0.43) indicated that the research area faced with the risk of ocean acidification and underlying hypoxia. A total of 62 species were identified, of which the dominant species group was polychaetes. The average abundance and biomass was577.50 ind./m2 and 6.01 g/m2, respectively. Compared with historical data, the macrobenthic assemblage structure at waters around the Xin'an River Estuary was in a relatively stable status from 2009 to 2012.Contaminant indicator species Capitella capitata appeared at Sta. Y1, indicating the animals here suffered from hypoxia and acidification. AMBI and M-AMBI results showed that most sampling stations were slightly disturbed,which were coincided with the abiotic measurement on evaluating the health conditions. 2Spatio-temporal variation of subtidal macrobenthic fauna and the ecological assessment of Longkou Artificial Island construction in Bohai Sea, China显示文摘To evaluate the status and changes of macrobenthic communities related to the construction of the Longkou Artificial Island(LAI)in the Bohai Sea,China,four annual surveys were conducted from 2010 to 2013.Significant changes on environmental variations and macrobenthic communities were observed in 2013 after the LAI construction a couple of years later.The changing environment was primarily presented by lower values of pH,dissolved oxygen(DO),organic material(OM)percentage,and higher salinity,suspended particulate matter(SPM)concentration and oil concentration.The main dominant species shifted from Polychaeta taxa in 2010 to Mollusca taxa in 2013 due to the changes of environmental variables.An apparent miniaturization tendency in body size of macrobenthic species was presented from 2010 to 2013.The biodiversity indices increased yearly from 2010 to 2013.However,inter-site homogenization was observed in both the community structure and health status.Multivariate AZTI Marine Biotic Index(M-AMBI)analysis showed that the health status of stations changed depending on its original status and distance to the LAI.However,no significant differences were found in the spatial distribution of either environmental variables or abundance,biomass and biodiversity of macrobenthic communities.All the results will provide a basis for the long-term ecological assessment of reclamation.LI Xiaojing CHEN Linlin ZHOU Zhengquan LI Baoquan LIU Xin YANG Lufei LIU Bo SONG Bo 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,6:1
3Identification of S-genotypes and a novel S-RNase in 84 native Chinese pear accessions显示文摘The Chinese pear(Pyrus spp.)exhibits typical gametophytic self-incompatibility(GSI),which inhibits self-crossing and promotes outcrossing,similar to other fruit species in the Rosaceae family.Thus,S-compatible cultivars are required in pear orchards to ensure successful pollination and stable yields.In this study,84 native Chinese pear accessions were genotyped by allele-specific PCR using one pair allele consensus primers and 29 pairs of S-allele-specific primers that were designed in this study.After cloning and sequencing the PCR products,the S-genotypes of all 84 pear accessions,including wild and cultivated accessions,were determined.The reported 34 S-alleles and a novel S-allele were isolated from these pear accessions.These S-alleles were expressed specifically in the style.Sequence analysis identified that six pear cultivars originated in China shared the same S-RNases with P.communis(Pc).These findings supported the hypothesis that oriental and occidental Pyrus spp.may share the same pool of alleles at the S-locus.A novel S-RNase was isolated in ‘Putiandouli’,‘Daguoshanli’,‘Yunhongli1,and‘Dianli’and deposited as S67-RNase under accession number MT773568.Furthermore,the deduced amino acid sequences exhibited high similarity(99.56%)to S32-RNase in Malus.The high similarity between S-RNase in Pyrus and Malus indicated that the existence of S-RNase could have predated speciation between Pyrus and Malus.Furthermore,S-allele information was rearranged in Asian and European pears to provide information for selecting the best pollinator for widely cultivated pear cultivars in China.This information is useful for pear production,cross-breeding,and understanding the mechanism of the self-incompatibility reaction.Min He Lufei Li Ying Xu Jianxin Mu Zhihua Xie Chao Gu Shaoling Zhang 2022Horticultural Plant Journal2022,8,6:1
4Infrared Imageries of Human Body Activated by Tea Match the Hypothesis of Meridian System显示文摘Human meridian(Jingluo)system was hypothesized by traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)for thousands of years,suggest-ing 12 normal meridian channels going through respective organs,carrying fluid and energy,and laying thermal effects.Some treatments based on meridians have been proved effective.However,existence of meridians has never been confirmed,let alone the lack of measurement for meridian phenotypes.Thermal effect is one of the major phenotypes of meridian metabo-lism.Infrared photograph was employed to display the picture of meridians since 1970.Unfortunately,no satisfactory results have been obtained.It is possible that only when a certain meridian is activated will there be thermal effect for successful infrared photograph.In this study,13 types of tea were selected out of the herbs to activate the hypothesized 12 meridians for imagery taking.Forty-two volunteers took part in the experiment lasted for 13 days.Different tea was tested in different day.Infrared imageries of the human bodies were taken immediately after each tea was drunk.The highest temperatures of the fingers,palms,and above the organs were derived from the imageries and analyzed.The temperatures of the organs and fingers possibly connected by 12 hypothesized meridians rose together significantly following the meridian hypothesis.Infrared imageries showed quite clear shapes of the organs activated by different kinds of tea,e.g.,heart and kidneys by yel-low tea,etc.Some high temperature lines also matched the hypothetic meridians.Our work displayed the probable imageries of all the 12 hypothetic meridians for the first time,and proved with data that different foods may activate different organs following the meridian hypothesis,shedding light on a possible new method of targeted drug designs.Measurements of meridian phenotypes can be developed based on this method of activation.Wenli Jin Yichen Tao Chen Wang Lufei Wang Xue Ao Mingjie Su Binwei Hu Yuxiao Ouyang Jiaxing Liu Hui Li 2023Phenomics2023,3,5:0
