1Microstructure and mechanical properties of friction welded carbon steel(EN24) and nickel-based superalloy(IN718)显示文摘Continuous-drive rotary friction welding was performed to join cylindrical specimens of carbon steel(EN24) and nickel-based superalloy(IN718), and the microstructures of three distinct weld zones—the weld interface(WI)/thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ),the heat-affected zone(HAZ), and the base metal—were examined.The joint was observed to be free of defects but featured uneven flash formation.Electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD) analysis showed substantial changes in high-angle grain boundaries, low-angle grain boundaries, and twin boundaries in the TMAZ and HAZ.Moreover, significant refinement in grain size(2 –5 μm) was observed at the WI/TMAZ with reference to the base metal.The possible causes of these are discussed.The microhardness profile across the welded joint shows variation in hardness.The changes in hardness are ascribed to grain refinement, phase transformation, and the dissolution of strengthening precipitates.The tensile test results reveal that a joint efficiency of 100% can be achieved using this method.V.T.Gaikwad M.K.Mishra V.D.Hiwarkar R.K.P.Singh 2021International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2021,28,1:0
2Influence of Discharge Voltage on Charged Particles in a Multi-Dipole Device in the Presence of an Ion Collecting Surface显示文摘The influence of discharge voltage on ion collecting surfaces in the form of a metal plate and a mesh grid is investigated in a multi-dipole device.In the experiment,a solid metal plate and a mesh grid are placed alternately at one end of the multi-dipole device.It is seen that except for high negative bias,the ion space charge layer in front of the grid gets depleted with the increase in discharge voltage whereas it gets thickened in front of the plate.It is also observed that the electron loss at the cusp(anode current)changes accordingly in both the cases.The increase in discharge voltage can enhance the Bohm speed of ions towards the ion collecting surfaces.Further,the negative potential applied to the ion collecting surfaces lowers the bulk plasma potential,which in turn affects the anode current.M.K.Mishra A.Phukan M.Chakraborty 2013Chinese Physics Letters2013,30,1:0
3Hydromagnetic thin film flow of Casson fluid in non-Darcy porous medium with Joule dissipation and Navier's partial slip显示文摘In this paper, the effects of viscous and Ohmic heating and heat generation/absorption on magnetohydrodynamic flow of an electrically conducting Casson thin film fluid over an unsteady horizontal stretching sheet in a non-Darcy porous medium are investigated. The fluid is assumed to slip along the boundary of the sheet. Similarity transformation is used to translate the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. A shooting technique in conjunction with the 4 th order Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the transformed equations. Computations are carried out for velocity and temperature of the fluid thin film along with local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for a range of values of pertinent flow parameters. It is observed that the Casson parameter has the ability to enhance free surface velocity and film thickness, whereas the Forchheimer parameter, which is responsible for the inertial drag has an adverse effect on the fluid velocity inside the film. The velocity slip along the boundary tends to decrease the fluid velocity.
