2Grain size distribution at four developmental stages of crescent dunes in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘Although scientists have performed many studies on crescent (barchan) dunes in the Taklimakan Desert,few studies reported the changes in grain size at different development stages of crescent dunes.In order to evaluate the changing trends of surface sediment grain size with dune development,we investigated the grain size characteristics at four developmental stages (oval sand pile,shield dune,incipient crescent dune and mature crescent dune) of crescent dunes by measuring the morphology of sand dune and observing the near-surface wind regime.The dunes have developed in a wide inter-dune corridor between high compound longitudinal ridges in China's Taklimakan Desert.The surface sediments at four developmental stages of the crescent dunes were primarily composed of fine sands,followed by very fine and medium sands.Mean grain sizes ranged from 2.8 to 3.1 φ,with a unimodal distribution.The sands were moderately well-sorted,their distribution varied from platykurtic to very platykurtic,and symmetrical or skewed towards the fine particles.From oval sand piles through shield and incipient crescent dunes to mature crescent dunes,incipient grain size gradually increased,particles became finer,sorting became better,kurtosis and skewness increased.Grain sizes on the surface layer became coarser upwards from the toe of the windward slope and then became finer towards the bottom of the leeward slope.We found that the coarsest particles at different positions at the four developmental stages were different.The coarsest particles were distributed at the top of the oval sand piles and shield dunes,versus at the middle of the windward slope of the incipient and mature crescent dunes.Correlations between the mean grain size and other grain size parameters showed that as mean grain size became finer,sorting became better and kurtosis became wider,but skewness changed only slightly.In addition,grain size variation in the surface sediments correlated with the movement speed of the dunes in the study area.In the open ground among tall-complex longitudinal ridges in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert where aeolian environment is characterized by comparatively strong wind and unsaturated sand flow,faster dune movement corresponded to coarser grain size.JIA Wenru ZHANG Chunlai LI Shengyu WANG Haifeng MA Xuexi WANG Ningbo 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,5:4

6The dependence of cumulative ^(238)U(n,f) fission yield on incident-neutron energy显示文摘This work is aim at studying the dependence of fission yields on incident neutron energy, so as to produce evaluated yield sets of the energy dependence. Experimental data at different neutron energies for gas fission products 85m,87,88Kr and 138Xe resulting from the 238U(n, f) reaction are processed using codes AVERAGE for weighed average and ZOTT for simultaneous evaluation. Energy dependence of the cumulative fission product yields on the incident neutron is presented. The evaluated curve of product yield is compared with the results calculated by the TALYS-0.64 code. The present evaluation is consistent with other main libraries in error permission. The fit curve of 87,88Kr can be recommended to predict the unmeasured fission yields. 7Efficacy of Huanglian root decoction(黄连煎剂)on kidney injury in rat’s model of metabolic syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy of Huanglian root decoction(黄连煎剂,HLD)on kidney injury in rat’s model of metabolic syndrome(Met S),and investigate the possible mechanism.METHODS:A fructose-induced Met S rat model and human renal tubular epithelial cell-line model were used to compare the efficacy of HLD with that of berberine and tauroursodeoxycholic acid(TUDCA).Blood pressure,biochemical parameters,histopathological changes and the expression levels of oxidative stress markers were evaluated in the animal model at the end of an 8-week treatment regimen.Oxidative stress markers and molecules of the signal pathway of endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress were evaluated in the human cell-line model.RESULTS:Levels of fasting insulin,systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were significantly decreased in rats in the Huanglian group compared to those in the Met S group(P<0.05).Rats treated with HLD and TUDCA exhibited a significant reduction in blood levels of malondialdehyde compared to those in rats in the Met S group(P<0.05).Significant increases in glutathione peroxidase in human tubular epithelial cells was found in the Huanglian group compared to that in the Met S group(14.02 vs 18.31,P<0.05).The m RNA expression of protein kinase RNA-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase and eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2αdecreased significantly in Huanglian groups compared with that in the Met S group.CONCLUSION:HLD has therapeutic efficacy on kidney injury in the Met S rat’s model,and is non-inferior to berberine and TUDCA.CHEN Xiaoqing ZHANG Yong HUANG Chunlai FU Tingting TAO Qinghua MA Liqiang WANG Liping 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,1:1

16Extracellular vesicles from iPSC-MSCs alleviate chemotherapy-induced mouse ovarian damage via the ILK-PI3K/AKT pathway显示文摘Chemotherapy can significantly reduce follicle counts in ovarian tissues and damage ovarian stroma,causing endocrine disorder,reproductive dysfunction,and primary ovarian insufficiency(POI).Recent studies have suggested that extracellular vesicles(EVs)secreted from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)exert therapeutic effects in various degenerative diseases.In this study,transplantation of EVs from human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived MSCs(iPSC-MSC-EVs)resulted in significant restoration of ovarian follicle numbers,improved granulosa cell proliferation,and inhibition of apoptosis in chemotherapy-damaged granulosa cells,cultured ovaries,and in vivo ovaries in mice.Mechanistically,treatment with i PSC-MSC-EVs resulted in up-regulation of the integrinlinked kinase(ILK)-PI3K/AKT pathway,which is suppressed during chemotherapy,most likely through the transfer of regulatory microRNAs(miRNAs)targeting ILK pathway genes.This work provides a framework for the development of advanced therapeutics to ameliorate ovarian damage and POI in female chemotherapy patients.Rui-Can Cao Yue Lv Gang Lu Hong-Bin Liu Wuming Wang Chunlai Tan Xian-Wei Su Zhiqiang Xiong Jin-Long Ma Wai-Yee Chan 2023Zoological Research2023,44,3:0
17Non-equilibrium steady structures of confined liquid crystals driven by a dynamic boundary显示文摘Steady structures originating from dynamic self-assembly have begun to show their advantages in new generation materials, and pose challenges to equilibrium self-assembly. In view of the important role of confinement in self-assembly, here, we propose a new type of confinement leading to dynamic steady structures, which opens a new window for the conventional confinement.In our model, we consider the self-assembly of ellipsoids in 2D circular confinement via the boundary performing periodically stretching and contracting oscillation. Langevin dynamics simulations reveal the achievement of non-equilibrium steady structures under appropriate boundary motions, which are novel smectic structures with stable topological defects. Different from the confinement with a static boundary, ellipsoids close to the boundary have variable orientations depending on the boundary motion.Order-order structural transitions, accompanied by the symmetry change and varied defect number, occur with the change of oscillating amplitude and/or frequency of the boundary. Slow and fast dynamics are distinguished according to whether structural rearrangements and energetic adjustment happen or not. The collective motion of confined ellipsoids, aroused by the work performed on the system, is the key factor determining both the structure and dynamics of the self-assembly.
