| 1 | Synthesis of Porous NiO Nanocrystals with Controllable Surface Area and Their Application as Supercapacitor Electrodes显示文摘We report a facile way to grow various porous NiO nanostructures including nanoslices,nanoplates,and nanocolumns,which show a structure-dependence in their specific charge capacitances.The formation of controllable porosity is due to the dehydration and re-crystallization of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoplates synthesized by a hydrothermal process.Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the decomposition temperature of the β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanostructures is related to their morphology.In electrochemical tests,the porous NiO nanostructures show stable cycling performance with retention of specific capacitance over 1000 cycles.Interestingly,the formation of nanocolumns by the stacking of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoslices/plates favors the creation of small pores in the NiO nanocrystals obtained after annealing,and the surface area is over five times larger than that of NiO nanoslices and nanoplates.Consequently,the specific capacitance of the porous NiO nanocolumns(390 F/g)is significantly higher than that of the nanoslices(176 F/g)or nanoplates(285 F/g)at a discharge current of 5 A/g.This approach provides a clear illustration of the process-structure-property relationship in nanocrystal synthesis and potentially offers strategies to enhance the performance of supercapacitor electrodes. | Xiaojun Zhang Wenhui Shi Jixin Zhu Weiyun Zhao Jan Ma Subodh Mhaisalkar Tuti Lim Maria Yanhui Yang Hua Zhang Huey Hoon Hng Qingyu Yan | 2010 | Nano Research2010,3,9: | 24 |

| 3 | Pre-Archaeopteryx coelurosaurian dinosaurs and their implications for understanding avian origins显示文摘The last two decades have witnessed great advances in reconstructing the transition from non-avian theropods to avians,but views in opposition to the theropod hypothesis still exist.Here we highlight one issue that is often considered to raise problems for the theropod hypothesis of avian origins,i.e.the 'temporal paradox' in the stratigraphic distribution of theropod fossils - the idea that the earliest known avian is from the Late Jurassic but most other coelurosaurian groups are poorly known in the Jurassic,implying that avians arose before their supposed ancestors.However,a number of Jurassic nonavian coelurosaurian theropods have recently been discovered,thus documenting the presence of most of the major coelurosaurian groups in the Jurassic alongside,or prior to,avians.These discoveries have greatly improved the congruence between stratigraphy and phylogeny for derived theropods and,effectively,they reject the 'temporal paradox' concept.Most importantly,these discoveries provide significant new information that supports the relatively basal positions of the Tyrannosauroidea and Alvarezsauroidea among the Coeluro-sauria.Indeed,they imply a new phylogenetic hypothesis for the interrelationships of Paraves,in which Archaeopteryx,the Dromaeosauridae,and the Troodontidae form a monophyletic group while the Scansoriopterygidae,other basal birds,and probably also the Oviraptorosauria,form another clade.Mapping some of the salient features onto a temporally-calibrated theropod phy-logeny indicates that characteristics related to flight and arboreality evolved at the base of the Paraves,earlier than the Late Jurassic. | XU Xing MA QingYu HU DongYu | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,35: | 5 |
| 4 | Computational fluid dynamics simulation of friction stir welding:A comparative study on different frictional boundary conditions显示文摘Numerical simulation based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) is a useful approach for quantitatively investigating the underlying thermal-mechanical conditions during FSW, such as temperature field and material deformation field. One of the critical issues in CFD simulation of FSW is the use of the frictional boundary condition, which represents the friction between the welding tool and the workpiece in the numerical models. In this study, three-dimensional numerical simulation is conducted to analyze the heat transfer and plastic deformation behaviors during the FSW of AA2024. For comparison purposes,both the boundary velocity(BV) models and the boundary shear stress(BSS) models are employed in order to assess their performances in predicting the temperature and material deformation in FSW. It is interesting to note that different boundary conditions yield similar predictions on temperature, but quite different predictions on material deformation. The numerical predictions are compared with the experimental results. The predicted deformation zone geometry by the BSS model is consistent with the experimental results while there is large difference between the predictions by the BV models and the experimental measurements. The fact that the BSS model yields more reasonable predictions on the deformation zone geometry is attributed to its capacity to automatically adjust the contact state at the tool/workpiece interface. | 7 | Radiation theory comparison for magnetoacoustic tomography with magnetic induction(MAT-MI)显示文摘Based on the principle of Lorentz force induced acoustic vibration, radiation theory comparison between acoustic point and dipole sources was conducted for magnetoacoustic tomography with magnetic induction(MAT-MI). It is proved that each acoustic source of MATMI is produced by the divergence of the magnetically induced Lorentz force, and the detected acoustic pressure is the integral of all diffraction sources inside the object.Wave clusters are produced by abrupt pressure changes at conductivity boundaries, and only the configurations in terms of shape and size of phantom models can be reconstructed. However, different from point source, positive and negative pressures are generated by the radiation pattern of dipole sources. Reverse vibration phases of wave clusters in collected waveforms and opposite polarities of borderline stripes in reconstructed images are produced at conductivity boundaries, representing the direction of conductivity changes. The experimentally collected waveforms and reconstructed images of the aluminum foil cylinder and cylindrical saline gel phantom model agree well with simulated results. In this work, phytate-coordinated Ni foam(PA-NF)is shown to deliver a high catalytic performance, with a potential as low as 1.38 V at 10m A/cm2, a Tafel slope as low as 64.1 mV/dec, and superior catalytic stability.
