| 2 | Calcium phosphate cements for bone engineering and their biological properties显示文摘Calcium phosphate cements(CPCs) are frequently used to repair bone defects. Since their discovery in the 1980 s, extensive research has been conducted to improve their properties, and emerging evidence supports their increased application in bone tissue engineering. Much effort has been made to enhance the biological performance of CPCs, including their biocompatibility, osteoconductivity, osteoinductivity, biodegradability,bioactivity, and interactions with cells. | 4 | Influence of dissolved organic matter character on mercury incorporation by planktonic organisms: An experimental study using oligotrophic water from Patagonian lakes显示文摘Ligands present in dissolved organic matter(DOM) form complexes with inorganic divalent mercury(Hg2+) afecting its bioavailability in pelagic food webs. This investigation addresses the influence of a natural gradient of DOM present in Patagonian lakes on the bioaccumulation of Hg2+(the prevailing mercury species in the water column of these lakes) by the algae Cryptomonas erosa and the zooplankters Brachionus calyciflorus and Boeckella antiqua. Hg2+accumulation was studied through laboratory experiments using natural water of four oligotrophic Patagonian lakes amended with197Hg2+. The bioavailability of Hg2+was afected by the concentration and character of DOM. The entrance of Hg2+into pelagic food webs occurs mostly through passive and active accumulation. The incorporation of Hg2+by Cryptomonas, up to 27% of the Hg2+amended, was found to be rapid and dominated by passive adsorption,and was greatest when low molecular weight compounds with protein-like or small phenolic signatures prevailed in the DOM.Conversely, high molecular weight compounds with a humic or fulvic signature kept Hg2+in the dissolved phase, resulting in the lowest Hg2+accumulation in this algae. In Brachionus and Boeckella the direct incorporation of Hg from the aqueous phase was up to3% of the Hg2+amended. The dietary incorporation of Hg2+by Boeckella exceeded the direct absorption of this metal in natural water,and was remarkably similar to the Hg2+adsorbed in their prey. | 5 | Reuse of liver grafts following the brain death of the initial recipient显示文摘AIM: To determine if there is a reasonable prospect of success of a re-use liver transplantation.METHODS: We systematically searched for reports of liver graft re-use using electronic searches of PubMed and Web of Knowledge. We performed hand searches of references lists of articles reporting re-use of grafts.RESULTS: A systematic review of the literature reveals 28 liver transplantations using previously transplanted grafts. First and second recipients ranged in age from 4 to 72 years and 29 to 62 years respectively. Liver disease in the first recipient was varied including 5(18%) patients with fulminant liver failure who died subsequently of cerebral edema. The second transplanta-tion was performed after a median interval of 5 d(one day-13 years). Viral hepatitis was present in 3(11%) of the initial recipients and in 8(29%) of final recipients. Hepatocellular carcinoma was present in 6(21%) of the final recipients. | 9 | Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty balloons for endoscopic ultrasound-guided pancreatic duct interventions显示文摘BACKGROUND Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)-guided main pancreatic duct(PD)access may be used when conventional endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)techniques fail.The use of a percutaneous transluminal angioplasty balloon(PTAB),originally developed for vascular interventions,can be used to facilitate transmural(e.g.,transgastric)PD access and to dilate high-grade pancreatic strictures.AIM To describe the technique,efficacy,and safety of PTABs for EUS-guided PD interventions.METHODS Patients who underwent EUS with use of a PTAB from March 2011 to August 2021 were retrospectively identified from a tertiary care medical center supply database.PTABs included 3-4 French angioplasty catheters with 3-4 mm balloons designed to use over a 0.018-inch guidewire.The primary outcome was technical success.Secondary outcomes included incidence of adverse events(AEs)and need for early reintervention.RESULTS A total of 23 patients were identified(48%female,mean age 55.8 years).Chronic pancreatitis was the underlying etiology in 13(56.5%)patients,surgically altered anatomy(SAA)with stricture in 7(30.4%),and SAA with post-operative leak in 3(13.0%).Technical success was achieved in 20(87%)cases.Overall AE rate was 26%(n=6).All AEs were mild and included 1 pancreatic duct leak,2 cases of post-procedure pancreatitis,and 3 admissions for post-procedural pain.No patients required early re-intervention.CONCLUSION EUS-guided use of PTABs for PD access and/or stricture management is feasible with an acceptable safety profile and can be considered in patients when conventional ERCP cannulation fails. | Jad P AbiMansour Barham K Abu Dayyeh Michael J Levy Andrew C Storm John A Martin Bret T Petersen Ryan J Law Mark D Topazian Vinay Chandrasekhara | 2022 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2022，14，8： | 2 |

| 12 | Exogenous cytokinin application to Actinidia chinensis var. deliciosa ‘Hayward’ fruit promotes fruit expansion through water uptake显示文摘Exogenous application of a cytokinin-like compound forchlorfenuron(CPPU)can promote fruit growth,although often at the expense of dry matter(DM),an important indicator of fruit quality.Actinidia chinensis var.deliciosa‘Hayward’fruit are very responsive to CPPU treatments,but the mechanism underlying the significant fruit weight increase and associated decrease in DM is unclear.In this study,we hypothesised that CPPU-enhanced growth increases fruit carbohydrate demand,but limited carbohydrate supply resulted in decreased fruit DM.During fruit development,CPPU effects on physical parameters,metabolites,osmotic pressure and transcriptional changes were assessed under conditions of both standard and a high carbohydrate supply.We showed that CPPU increased fruit fresh weight but the dramatic DM decrease was not carbohydrate limited.Enhanced glucose and fructose concentrations contributed to an increase in soluble carbohydrate osmotic pressure,which was correlated with increased water accumulation in CPPU-treated fruit and up-regulation of water channel aquaporin gene PIP2.4 at 49 days after anthesis.Transcipt analysis suggested that the molecular mechanism contributing to increased glucose and fructose concentrations was altered by carbohydrate supply.At standard carbohydrate supply,the early glucose increase in CPPU fruit was associated with reduced starch synthesis and increased starch degradation.When carbohydrate supply was high,the early glucose increase in CPPU fruit was associated with a general decrease in starch synthesis but up-regulation of vacuolar invertase and fructokinase genes.We conclude that CPPU affected fruit expansion by increasing the osmotically-driven water uptake and its effect was not carbohydrate supply-limited. | Simona Nardozza Helen L Boldingh Mark W Wohlers Andrew P Gleave Zhiwei Luo Guglielmo Costa Elspeth A MacRae Michael J Clearwater Annette C Richardson | 2017 | Horticulture Research2017，4，1： | 2 |
