Genetic pattern of belt-wide petroliferous phenomenon in the eastern Pearl River Mouth Basin and its practical application显示文摘The Pearl River Mouth Basin(PRMB) covers an area of approximately 20×104 km2. However, oil-gas fields detected in this area thus far are highly concentrated and controlled predominantly by second-order structural belts, the seven largest of which aggregate proved oil reserves of 7.7×108 m3, accounting for 86% of the total discovered reserve in the basin. These second-order structures have one common phenomenon: oil is contained in all traps present in them. In other words, they are all belt-wide petroliferous reservoirs. Research has identified eight types of second-order structural belts under two categories in the eastern PRMB. Their petroliferous properties are subject to three typical constraints: petroliferous properties of subsags hosting these structural belts, locations of these belts in the petroleum system, and availability of traps prior to the hydrocarbon expulsion and migration. The formation and distribution of oil reservoirs in these belts are characterized by subsag–belt integration and 'three-in-one'. The former indicates that sags and the second-order structural belts within the supply range of the sags constitute the basic units of hydrocarbon accumulations and are therefore inseparable. The latter indicates that a belt-wide petroliferous second-order structural belt always contains three important elements: hydrocarbon richness, effective pathway and pre-existing traps. | Shi Hesheng Dai Yiding Liu Lihua Shu Yu Mei Lianfu | 2014 | Petroleum Science2014,11,1: | 14
CO_2 gas emplacement age in the Songliao Basin: Insight from volcanic quartz ^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar stepwise crushing显示文摘Due to a lack of suitable minerals, the gas/oil emplacement ages have never been accurately obtained before. CH4-CO2-saline- bearing secondary inclusions are found in quartz from the volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation, the container rocks of the deep CO2 gas reservoir in the Songliao Basin. The inclusion fluid was trapped into microcracks in quartz during the gas em- placement and accumulation, providing an optimal target for the 40Ar-39Ar stepwise crushing technique to determine the CO2 gas emplacement age. 40Ar-39Ar dating results of a quartz sample by stepwise crushing yield a highly linear-regression isochron with an age of 78.4±1.3 Ma, indicating that the accumulation of the deep CO2 gas reservoir in the Songliao Basin occurred in the late Cretaceous. This is the first time to report an exact isotopic age for a CO2 gas reservoir, which indicates that the 40Ar-39Ar dating can serve as a new technique to date the oil/gas emplacement ages. | YUN JianBing WU HeYong FENG ZiHui MEI LianFu QIU HuaNing | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,17: | 11
^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar geochronology constraints on hydrocarbon accumulation and destruction periods in the Bankeng paleo-reservoir in the southern margin of the middle Yangtze block显示文摘The exact determination of isotopic ages of hydrocarbon accumulation, reconstruction and destruction periods using traditional isotopic dating methods is complex because of the small numbers of minerals that correlate with hydrocarbons. The quantitative and direct study of hydrocarbon geochronology is therefore an important scientific problem for isotope geochronology and petroleum geology. This study obtains two isotopic ages from a quartz vein sample associated with bitumen in a reverse fault located in the Bankeng paleo-reservoir on the southern margin of the middle Yangtze block (the northern margin of the JiangnanXuefeng uplift) by inclusion 40Ar/39Ar stepwise crushing in a vacuum. Two different and good linear inverse isochrons that correspond to two age plateaus were determined. The two ages correspond to primary inclusions of about 228 Ma and secondary inclusions of about 149 Ma.These inclusion groups represent two distinct kinds of fluids.Quartz veins associated with bitumen in faulted paleo-reservoirs,which have a strict response relationship with tectonization and hydrocarbon accumulation, are the unified products of tectonic processes, hydrocarbon accumulation and reconstruction. Therefore, they can be used to constrain the hydrocarbon accumulation, reconstruction and destruction periods that are controlled by multiphase and complicated tectonic actions. The evolutionary processes of hydrocarbon accumulation can be divided into two periods consisting of a primary oil and gas reservoir formation period in the late Indosinian epoch (about 228 Ma) and a period of oil and gas reservoir reconstruction in the early Yanshan epoch (about 149 Ma).This study quantitatively reconstructs the hydrocarbon accumulation and destruction chronological framework of a giant hydrocarbon accumulation belt along the southern margin of the middle Yangtze block (the northern margin of the Jiangnan-Xuefeng uplift) controlled by multiphase and complicated tectonism. The two ages associated with hydrocarbons here correspond to the special controlling actions of continental tectonics in the Jiangnan-Xuefeng uplift that affected the timeline of reconstruction and destruction in this giant marine hydrocarbon accumulation. This study shows the feasibility and usefulness of dating inclusions with the 40Ar/39Ar technique for hydrocarbon geochronology, especially in the marine hydrocarbon accumulation region of southern China within a geological setting of old strata, high thermal evolution hydrocarbons, and complex, multiphase and multicycle tectonization. | LIU ZhaoQian MEI LianFu QIU HuaNing SHEN ChuanBo TANG JiGuang YUN JianBing | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,26: | 7
Structural Features and Proto-Type Basin Reconstructions of the Bay of Bengal Basin:A Remnant Ocean Basin Model显示文摘Remnant ocean basin is a key to understand the plate suturing and subsequent uplift and erosion of orogen. The Bay of Bengal Basin(BOBB)provides a typical example to analyze the remnant ocean basin structures, evolution, and relationships between depositional filling and uplifting of the Himalayan Orogen.Thirty-nine seismic profiles as well as interval velocities of well BODC3 were used to compile isopach maps of the basin.Among the seismic data,26 seismic profiles were applied to establish 8 cross sections. The cross sections suggest the basin is asymmetric, bounded to the west by the eastern continental margin of India(ECMI)with graben-horst and to the east by the Sunda convergence margin dominated by trench-arc system. The BOBB is characterized by a prominent down flexure structures caused by huge amount of Bengal fan turbidite sediments accumulation. Our isopach maps and chronology data collected from adjacent regions reveal the initial development and fast southward growth of the Bengal fan were related to the early and major stage uplift and erosion of the Himalayan Orogen, respectively. The BOBB has experienced a critical transition from an ocean basin to a remnant ocean basin at Late Oligocene.Such basin structures and evolution features indicate the BOBB provides whole records of oblique convergence of the India and Asia plates, and the early and major stage evolution of the Himalayan Orogen. | Peng Zhang Lianfu Mei Ping Xiong Xiaolin Hu Renyuan Li Huaning Qiu | 2017 | Journal of Earth Science2017,28,4: | 5
Evolution of Low-Angle Normal Faults in the Enping Sag,the Northern South China Sea: Lateral Growth and Vertical Rotation显示文摘Low-angle normal faults(dip<30°,LANFs)are widespread in the northern margin of the South China Sea where the maximum crust thickness is approximately 30.0 km.Based on 3 D seismic survey data and drilling wells in the Enping sag, evidences for LANFs that initially formed at high-angles are discussed. After a detailed investigation of extensional fault system and description of 3 D fault geometry, the initial fault dips under the model of distributed vertical simple shear are also calculated. The results indicate that the present-day dip angles of the LANFs are in the range of 12°to 29°,and the initial fault dip angles are in the range of 39°to 49°.Deep seismic imaging suggests that the upper crust in the footwall block of the LANFs was tilted at an angle of ~14°to 22°due to the isostatic rebound during rifting. Moreover, the temporal and spatial sequences of the lateral growth of the LANFs have been investigated by the seismic interpretation of four isochronous stratigraphic interfaces, which demonstrates that two individual fault segments propagated towards each other and subsequently, were hard-linked during the Early Eocene. | Zhichao Zhou Lianfu Mei Hesheng Shi Yu Shu | 2019 | Journal of Earth Science2019,30,6: | 1

Characteristics and origin of continental marginal fault depressions under the background of preexisting subduction continental margin, northern South China Sea,China显示文摘Based on the new seismic and drilling data and the recent related research results, this paper systematically analyzes the diversity and complexity of evolution process of crustal lithosphere structure and basin structure in the Pearl River Mouth Basin on the northern margin of the South China Sea.Three types of detachment faults of different structural levels exist:crust-mantle detachment,inter-crust detachment and upper crust detachment. It is considered that different types of extensional detachment control different subbasin structures. Many fault depressions controlled by upper crust detachment faults have been found in the Zhu I Depression located in the proximal zone. These detachment faults are usually reformed by magma emplacement or controlled by preexisting faults.Baiyun-Liwan Sag located in the hyperextension area shows different characteristics of internal structure. The Baiyun main sag with relative weak magmatism transformation is a wide-deep fault depression, which is controlled by crust-mantle detachment system.Extensive magmatism occurred in the eastern and southwest fault steps of the Baiyun Sag after Middle Eocene, and the crust ductile extensional deformation resulted in wide-shallow fault depression controlled by the upper crust detachment fault.Based on the classical lithosphere extensional breaking and basin tectonic evolution in the Atlantic margin,it is believed that the magmatic activities and pre-existing structures in the Mesozoic subduction continental margin background are important controlling factors for the diversified continental margin faulted structures in the northern South China Sea. | PANG Xiong ZHENG Jinyun MEI Lianfu LIU Baojun ZHANG Zhongtao WU Zhe Feng Xuan | 2021 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2021,48,5: | 0
Geochemical Characteristics and Accumulated Process of Heavy Crude Oil of Chunguang Oilfield in Junggar Basin, China显示文摘Chunguang oilfield is a new focus of the exploration in Junnggar Basin with the heavy crude oil distributing in Jurassic, Cretaceous and Tertiary strata. Based on the analysis of the geochemistry and fluid inclusion in the reservoirs, the source, accumulated period and process of the heavy crude oil reservoir has been investigated. The results indicate that the heavy crude oil can be divided into three types based on the degradation and sources. The heavy crude oil was mainly derived from the Permian source rocks, and latterly mixed by the heavy crude oil generated by the Jurassic source rocks. The accumulated period of the heavy crude oil has two stages. One was ranged from Cretaceous to Paleogene and the heavy crude oil was sourced from Permian source rocks of the Shawan depression and latterly mixed by the heavy crude oil generated by the Jurassic source rocks. The second period was from Neogene to present and the heavy crude oil was mainly derived from the Jurassic source rocks. Combined with the geological evolution, the heavy crude oil accumulated process has been recovered. | Yuanfang Fan Lianfu Mei Hongjun Liu | 2016 | Journal of Earth Science2016,27,5: | 0
