8Finite element analysis of second order wave radiation by a group of cylinders in the time domain显示文摘A finite element based numerical method is employed to analyze the wave radiation by multiple or a group of cylinders in the time domain. The nonlinear free surface and body surface boundary conditions are satisfied based on the perturbation method up to the second order. The first-and secondorder velocity potential problems at each time step are solved through a Finite Element Method (FEM). The matrix equation of the FEM is solved through iteration and the initial solution is obtained from the result at the previous time step. The three-dimensional (3-D) mesh required is generated based on a two-dimensional (2-D) hybrid mesh on a horizontal plane and its extension in the vertical direction. The hybrid mesh is generated by combining an unstructured grid away from cylinders and two structured grids near the cylinder and the artificial boundary. The fluid velocity on the free surface and the cylinder surface are calculated by using a differential method. Results for various configurations including the cases of two cylinders and four cylinders and a group of eighteen cylinders are obtained to show the joint influences of cylinders on the first-and secondorder waves and forces, including the effects of spacing ratios and wave frequency on the second order waves and the mean force, in particular.王赤忠 MITRA Santanu 黄豪彩 KHOO Boo-cheong 2013Journal of Hydrodynamics2013,25,3:1

12Novel Hydrodynamic Analysis Towards Capabilities Improvement of Bio-inspired Underwater Vehicles Using Momentum Redistribution Method显示文摘This paper presents an efficient and versatile OpenFOAM(Open-source Field Operation And Manipulation)-based numerical solver for fully resolved simulations that can handle any rigid and deforming bodies moving in the fluid.The algorithm used for solving Fluid-Structure Interactions(FSI)involving the immersed structure with changeable shapes is based on the momentum redistribution method.The present approach excludes the need to solve elastic equations,obtain high-accuracy predictions of the flow field and provide a rigorous basis for implementing the Immersed Boundary Method(IBM).The OpenFOAM implementation of the algorithm is discussed along with the design methodology for developing bio-inspired underwater vehicles using the present solver.The computational results are validated with the experimental observations of the two-dimensional and three-dimensional anguilliform swimmer case studies.The study further extended to the three-dimensional hydrodynamics of a bioinspired,self-propelling manta bot.The motion of the body is specified a priori according to the reported experimental observations.The results quantify the vortex formation and shedding processes and enable the identification of the portions of the body responsible for the majority of thrust.The body accelerates from rest to an asymptotic mean forward velocity of 0.2 ms^(-1)in almost 5 s,consistent with experimental observations.It is observed that the developed computational model is capable of performing any motion simulation and manoeuvrability analysis,which are critical for the designers to develop novel unmanned underwater vehicles.Rakesh Rayapureddi Santanu Mitra 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,2:0
