| 1 | Microstructure and surface texture driven improvement in in-vitro response of laser surface processed AZ31B magnesium alloy显示文摘The present work explored effects of laser surface melting on microstructure and surface topography evolution in AZ31B magnesium alloy.Thermokinetic effects experienced by the material during laser surface melting were simulated using a multiphysics finite element model.Microstructure and phase evolution were examined using scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,and electron back scatter diffraction.Surface topography was evaluated using white light interferometry.The interaction of surface melted samples with simulated body fluid was monitored by contact angle measurements and immersion studies up to 7 days.Laser surface melting led to formation of a refined microstructure with predominantly basal crystallographic texture.Concurrently,the amount ofβphase(Mg_(17)Al_(12))increased with an increase in the laser fluence.βphase preferentially decorated the cell boundaries.In terms of topography,the surface became progressively rougher with an increase in laser fluence.As a result,upon immersion in simulated body fluid,the laser surface melted samples showed an improved wettability,corrosion resistance,and precipitation of mineral having composition closer to the hydroxyapatite bone mineral compared to the untreated sample. | Tso-Chang Wu Sameehan SJoshi Yee-Hsien Ho Mangesh VPantawane Subhasis Sinha Narendra B.Dahotre | 2021 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,4: | 4 |
| 2 | Synthesis and characterization of high ceramic yield polycarbosilane precursor for SiC显示文摘The polycarbosilane(PCS)precursor for SiC with high molecular weight and medium molecular weight distribution was synthesized from polydimethylsilane at normal pressure.The chemical formula,the number average molecular weight,and the polydispersivity index of the synthesized PCS are SiC_(1.94)H_(5.01)O_(0.028),1135,and 1.66,respectively,which can be attributed to the higher reaction temperature used for polymerization.The polymer to ceramic conversion of PCS was completed at 900℃with a ceramic yield of 85%.The crystallization started at 1100℃,and at 1200℃,well resolved peaks ofβ-SiC were formed with small amount ofα-cristobalite.The X-ray diffraction(XRD)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)studies indicated the presence of nanocrystallineβ-SiC. | Mangesh LODHE Narendra BABU A.SELVAM M.BALASUBRAMANIAN | 2015 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2015,4,4: | 4 |
| 3 | CAN catalyzed one-pot synthesis and docking study of some novel substituted imidazole coupled 1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acids as antifungal agents显示文摘The present work describes a facile,one-pot three component synthesis of a series of 3-[(4,5-diphenyl-2-substituted aryl/heteryl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl]-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acid derivatives M(1-15).Benzil,aromatic aldehydes and 3-amino-l,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylic acid was refluxed in ethanol using cerric ammonium nitrate(CAN) as a catalyst to give the title compounds in good yields.The compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antifungal and antibacterial activity.Compounds M1,M9,and M15 were found to be equipotent against Candida albicans when compared with fluconazole.Compounds M2.M5,and M14 showed higher activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae.Escherichia coli and Streptococcus pyogenes,respectively,compared with ampicillin.Docking study of the newly synthesized compounds was performed,and the results showed good binding mode in the active sites of C albicans enzyme cytochrome P450 lanosterol 14α-demethylase.The results of in vitro antifungal activity and docking study showed that synthesized compounds had potential antifungal activity and can be further optimized and developed as a lead compound. | Anna Pratima G.Nikalje Mangesh S.Ghodke Firoz A.Kalam Khan Jaiprakash N.Sangshetti | 2015 | Chinese Chemical Letters2015,26,1: | 3 |

| 5 | In-vitro biomineralization and biocompatibility of friction stir additively manufactured AZ31B magnesium alloy-hydroxyapatite composites显示文摘The present study aims to evaluate effect of hydroxyapatite(HA,Ca10(PO4)6OH2),a ceramic similar to natural bone,into AZ31B Mg alloy matrix on biomineralization and biocompatibility.The novel friction stir processing additive manufacturing route was employed to fabricate Mg-HA composites.Various HA contents(5,10,20 wt%)were incorporated into Mg matrix.Microstructural observation and chemical composition analysis revealed that refined Mg grains and dispersion of HA particles at micro/nanoscales were achieved in Mg-HA composites after the friction stir processing.The biomineralization evaluation were carried out using immersion experiments in simulated body fluid followed by mineral morphology observation and chemical composition analysis.The wettability measurements were conducted to correlate the biomineralization behavior.The results showed improvement in wettability and bone-like Ca/P ratio in apatite deposit on the composites compared to as-received Mg.In addition,the increase of blood compatibility,cell viability and spreading were found in the higher HA content composites,indicating the improved biocompatibility.Therefore,friction stir processed Mg-20 wt%HA composite exhibited the highest wettability and better cell adhesion among other composites due to the effect of increased HA content within Mg matrix. | Yee-Hsien Ho Kun Man Sameehan S.Joshi Mangesh V.Pantawane Tso-Chang Wu Yong Yang Narendra B.Dahotre | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 2 |
