| 1 | Association between serum vitamin D levels and gastric cancer:A retrospective chart analysis显示文摘AIM To determine whether there is an increased risk of gastric adenocarcinoma associated with vitamin D deficiency(VDd).METHODS A retrospective case control study was performed of all patients diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma between 2005 and 2015.After we excluded the patients without a documented vitamin D level,49 patients were included in our study.RESULTS The average age of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma and documented vitamin D level was 64 years old(95%CI: 27-86) and average vitamin D level was 20.8 mg/d L(95%CI: 4-44).Compared to a matched control group,the prevalence of VDd/insufficiency in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than normal vitamin D levels(83.7% vs 16.3%).Forty-one patients(83.7%) with adenocarcinoma showed VDd/insufficiency compared to 18(37%) patients with normal vitamin D level without gastric cancer(OR: 8.8,95%CI: 5-22,P value < 0.0001).The average age of males with gastric adenocarcinoma diagnosis was 60 years old vs 68 years old for females(P = 0.01).StageⅡ gastric adenocarcinoma was the most prevalent in our study(37%).CONCLUSION We reported a positive relationship between VDd and gastric adenocarcinoma,that is to say,patients with decreased VDd levels have an increased propensity for gastric adenocarcinoma. | Neil Vyas Rafael Ching Companioni Melik Tiba Hassan Alkhawam Carmine Catalano Robert Sogomonian Joel Baum Aaron Walfish | 2016 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2016，8，9： | 10 |

| 4 | The chaotic behavior among the oil prices, expectation of investors and stock returns: TAR-TR-GARCH copula and TAR-TR-TGARCH copula显示文摘This paper has two aims. The first one is to investigate the existence of chaotic structures in the oil prices, expectations of investors and stock returns by combining the Lyapunov exponent and Kolmogorov entropy, and the second one is to analyze the dependence behavior of oil prices, expectations of investors and stock returns from January 02, 1990, to June06, 2017. Lyapunov exponents and Kolmogorov entropy determined that the oil price and the stock return series exhibited chaotic behavior. TAR-TR-GARCH and TAR-TR-TGARCH copula methods were applied to study the co-movement among the selected variables. The results showed significant evidence of nonlinear tail dependence between the volatility of the oil prices, the expectations of investors and the stock returns. Further, upper and lower tail dependence and comovement between the analyzed series could not be rejected. | 15 | Forecasting volatility in oil prices with a class of nonlinear volatility models:smooth transition RBF and MLP neural networks augmented GARCH approach显示文摘In this study, the forecasting capabilities of a new class of nonlinear econometric models, namely, the LSTAR-LST-GARCH-RBF and MLP models are evaluated. The models are utilized to model and to forecast the daily returns of crude oil prices. Many financial time series are subjected to leptokurtic distribution, heavy tails, and nonlinear conditional volatility. This characteristic feature leads to deterioration in the forecast capabilities of traditional models such as the ARCH and GARCH models.According to the empirical findings, the oil prices and their daily returns could be classified as possessing nonlinearity in the conditional mean and conditional variance processes.Several model groups are evaluated:(i) the models proposed in the first group are the LSTAR-LST-GARCH models that are augmented with fractional integration and asymmetric power terms(FIGARCH, APGARCH, and FIAPGARCH);(ii) the models proposed in the second group are the LSTAR-LST-GARCH models further augmented with MLP and RBF type neural networks. The models are compared in terms of MSE, RMSE, and MAE criteria for in-sample and out-of-sample forecast capabilities.
