2Clinical and genetic characteristics of retinoblastoma patients in a single center with four novel RB1 variants显示文摘AIM:To assess the clinical and genetic characteristics of children diagnosed with retinoblastoma(RB)at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Pediatric Oncology.METHODS:All cases diagnosed with RB and received treatment and follow-up in the Ophthalmology and Pediatric Oncology Department,October 2016 to May 2021 were evaluated retrospectively.The RB1 gene was analyzed by next-generation sequencing(NGS)technique in DNAs obtained from peripheral blood samples of the patients.RESULTS:This study included 53 cases with 67 RBaffected eyes during the study period.The mean age was 24.6(median:18.5,range:3–151)mo.There were 15(22.3%)Group D eyes and 39(58.2%)Group E eyes.The RB1 gene was sequenced by the NGS method in 19 patients.Heterozygous RB1:NM_000321.3:c.54_76del(p.Glu19AlafsTer4)variant was detected in a 15-month-old female with bilateral RB.Heterozygous RB1:NM_000321.3:c.1814+3A>T variant was detected in a 5.5-month-old male with bilateral RB.The intronic RB1:NM_000321.3:c.1332+4A>G variant was detected in patient 14,a 13-month-old male with unilateral RB.The RB1:NM_000321.3:c.575_576del(p.Lys192SerfsTer10)variant was found in an 18-month-old female with an allele frequency of 37%.These variants have not been reported in the literature and mutation databases.CONCLUSION:Four novel variants are described and one of them is found in two different patients.This data is crucial for assessing prognosis.It serves as a guide for estimating the long-term risk of secondary malignancy as well as the short-term risk of developing additional malignancies in the same eye and the other eye.Özge Vural Hatice Tuba Atalay Gulsum Kayhan Bercin Tarlan Merve Oral Arzu Okur Faruk GüçlüPınarlı Ceyda Karadeniz 2023International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2023,16,8:1

7Naringin attenuates oxidative stress,inflammation,apoptosis,and oxidative DNA damage in acrylamide-induced nephrotoxicity in rats显示文摘Objective:To explore the possible effects of naringin on acrylamide-induced nephrotoxicity in rats.Methods:Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200-250 g were randomly divided into five groups.The control group was given intragastric(i.g.)saline(1 mL)for 10 d.The acrylamide group was given i.g.acrylamide in saline(38.27 mg/kg titrated to 1 mL)for 10 d.The treatment groups were administered with naringin in saline(50 and 100 mg/kg,respectively)for 10 d and given i.g.acrylamide(38.27 mg/kg)1 h after naringin injection.The naringin group was given i.g.naringin(100 mg/kg)alone for 10 d.On day 11,intracardiac blood samples were obtained from the rats when they were under anesthesia,after which they were euthanized.Urea and creatinine concentrations of blood serum samples were analyzed with an autoanalyzer.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to quantify malondialdehyde,superoxide dismutase,glutathione,glutathione peroxidase,catalase,tumor necrosis factor-α,nuclear factor-κB,interleukin(IL)-33,IL-6,IL-1β,cyclooxygenase-2,kidney injury molecule-1,mitogen-activated protein kinase-1,and caspase-3 in kidney tissues.Renal tissues were also evaluated by histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations for 8-OHdG and Bcl-2.Results:Naringin attenuated acrylamide-induced nephrotoxicity by significantly decreasing serum urea and creatinine levels.Naringin increased superoxide dismutase,glutathione,glutathione peroxidase,and catalase activities and decreased malondialdehyde levels in kidney tissues.In addition,naringin reduced the levels of inflammatory and apoptotic parameters in kidney tissues.The histopathological assay showed that acrylamide caused histopathological changes and DNA damage,which were ameliorated by naringin.Conclusions:Naringin attenuated inflammation,apoptosis,oxidative stress,and oxidative DNA damage in acrylamide-induced nephrotoxicity in rats.Volkan Gelen Serkan Yıldırım EminŞengül AliÇınar FikretÇelebi Merve Küçükkalem Melahat Gök 2022Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2022,12,5:1

11Assessment of the consecutive harmful dinoflagellate blooms during 2015 in the Izmit Bay(the Marmara Sea)显示文摘A series of red tides were observed during 2015 in the Izmit Bay(the Marmara Sea) which is located in the most industrialized and populated region of Turkey. Six samplings were carried out in this area following the red tides.Nitrite-N, nitrate-N, ammonia, silica and orthophosphate concentrations were analyzed spectrophotometrically.Physicochemical conditions were measured by CTD probe. Plankton quantification was performed using counting chambers under microscopes. Prorocentrum micans was the most abundant species, except on May 14,2015, when Noctiluca scintillans was dominant. The abundance of P. micans reached average 18×10~6 ind./L on May 3, 2015 in the Karamürsel station, simultaneously with elevated levels of NH_3 and o-PO_4^(3–). The sample was also abundant in dead amphipods((72±12) ind./L) that had been covered by mucilage aggregates produced by P.micans. The highest biomass(calculated by carbon) was recorded as(268±26.0) mg/L on May 14 in the Hereke station. Beside the anthropogenic wastewater discharges, unknown sources and resuspensions caused increases in nutrient levels. After long term northeaster gusts(35 km/h for 5 d) an upwelling occurred on November 6, 2015 after wind-induced sediment resuspension. Although nutrient discharges remarkably decreased over 30 years through established wastewater treatment plants, harmful phytoplankton blooms still occur. Comparing the present results with other studies in nearby Mediterranean seas reveals that the most intense harmful dinoflagellate bloom in recent years occurred in the Izmit Bay. Therefore, additional protection measures necessary for a cleaner Izmit Bay. 12Cylinder Pressure Prediction of An HCCI Engine Using Deep Learning显示文摘Engine tests are both costly and time consuming in developing a new internal combustion engine.Therefore,it is of great importance to predict engine characteristics with high accuracy using artificial intelligence.Thus,it is possible to reduce engine testing costs and speed up the engine development process.Deep Learning is an effective artificial intelligence method that shows high performance in many research areas through its ability to learn high-level hidden features in data samples.The present paper describes a method to predict the cylinder pressure of a Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition(HCCI)engine for various excess air coefficients by using Deep Neural Network,which is one of the Deep Learning methods and is based on the Artificial Neural Network(ANN).The Deep Learning results were compared with the ANN and experimental results.The results show that the difference between experimental and the Deep Neural Network(DNN)results were less than 1%.The best results were obtained by Deep Learning method.The cylinder pressure was predicted with a maximum accuracy of 97.83%of the experimental value by using ANN.On the other hand,the accuracy value was increased up to 99.84%using DNN.These results show that the DNN method can be used effectively to predict cylinder pressures of internal combustion engines.Halit Yaşar GültekinÇağıl Orhan Torkul MerveŞişci 2021Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2021,34,2:0
