| 4 | Delusional parasitosis as premotor symptom of parkinson's disease:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Delusional parasitosis is characterized by a false belief of being infested with parasites, insects,or worms. This illness is observed in patients with Parkinson’s disease and is usually related to dopaminergic treatment. To our knowledge,no cases of delusional parasitosis have been reported as a premotor symptom or nonmotor symptom of Parkinson’s disease.CASE SUMMARY A 75-year-old woman presented with a complaint of itching that she ascribed to the presence of insects in her skin, and she had erythematous plaques on her trunk, arms, buttocks, and face. These symptoms started two months before the visit to the hospital. She took medication, including antipsychotics, with a diagnosis of delusional parasitosis, and the delusion improved after three months.A year later, antipsychotics were discontinued, and anxiety and depression were controlled with medication. However, she complained of bradykinesia, masked face, hand tremor, and mild rigidity, and we performed fluorinated N-3-fluoropropyl-2β-carbomethoxy-3β-(4-iodophenyl)nortropane positron emission tomography(PET),which showed mildly decreased DAT binding in the right anterior putamen and caudate nucleus.Parkinson’s disease was diagnosed on the basis of PET and clinical symptoms.CONCLUSION In conclusion, delusional parasitosis can be considered a non-motor sign of Parkinson’s disease along with depression, anxiety, and constipation. | Miae Oh Jong Woo Kim Sang-Min Lee | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,9: | 0 |
| 5 | Ultrasound activatable antiangiogenic sonosensitizer for VEGFR associated glioblastoma tumor models显示文摘Angiogenic signaling pathway is a major contributing factor in cancer recurrence and progression, which can cause significantly reduced treatment outcomes, especially in the oxygen-dependent photo-and sonodynamic therapies.VEGF and its receptor(VEGFR)play a crucial role in angiogenesis progression;precisely, upregulated VEGF signaling ismainly associated with angiogenesis progression in many types of cancers.Herein,we report a sunitinib-conjugated sonosensitizer(TK-RB:tyrosine kinase-rose bengal)to enhance the anticancer efficacy through VEGF inhibitionmediated antiangiogenesis in conjunction with cellular/tumor damage by ROS generated under ultrasound irradiation.TK-RB reveals good selectivity and cytotoxicity toward VEGFR-positive cells(U87MG)over VEGFR-negative cells(MCF-7).The fluorescent imaging analysis in vivo/ex vivo and the tumor growth investigation in nude mice with U87MG glioblastoma tumor xenografts demonstrate that rose bengal having tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TK-RB)provides an enhanced antitumor effect. The current strategy will make a great contribution to optimizing anticancer performance by utilizing sonodynamic therapy together with antiangiogenics in several different malignancies. | Subin Son Chuangli Zhang Miae Won Paramesh Jangili Minhyeok Choi Jiasheng Wu Jong Seung Kim | 2021 | Aggregate2021,2,4: | 0 |
| 6 | Mitochondrial H_(2)S_(n)-Mediated Anti-Inflammatory Theranostics显示文摘The insistent demand for space-controllable delivery, which reduces the side effects of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),has led to the development of a new theranostics-based approach for anti-inflammatory therapy. The current anti-inflammatory treatments can be improved by designing a drug delivery system responsive to the inflammatory site biomarker, hydrogen polysulfide(H_(2)S_(n)).Here,we report a noveltheranostic agent 1(TA1),consisting of three parts:H_(2)S_(n)-mediated triggering part,a two-photon fluorophore bearing mitochondria targeting unit(Rhodol-TPP),and anti-inflammatory COX inhibitor(indomethacin). In vitro experiments showed that TA1 selectively reacts with H_(2)S_(n)to concomitantly release both Rhodol-TPP and indomethacin.Confocal-microscopy imaging of inflammation-inducedlive cells suggested that TA1 is localized in the mitochondria where the H_(2)S_(n)is overexpressed. The TA1 reacted with H_(2)S_(n)in the endogenous and exogenous H_(2)S_(n)environments and in lipopolysaccharide treated inflammatory cells.Moreover,TA1 suppressed COX-2 level in the inflammatory-induced cells and prostaglandin E 2(PGE2)level in blood serum from inflammation-induced mouse models. In vivo experiments with inflammation-induced mouse models suggested that TA1 exhibits inflammation-site-elective drug release followed by significant therapeutic e ects, showing its function as a theranostic agent, capable of both anti-inflammatory therapy and precise diagnosis.Theranostic behavior of TA1 is highly applicable in vivo model therapeutics for the inflammatory disease. | Won Young Kim Miae Won Seyoung Koo Xingcai Zhang Jong Seung Kim | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,12: | 0 |
| 7 | Analgesic efficacy of median nerve stimulation in mice with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy via modulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression显示文摘OBJECTIVE:Chemotherapeutic agents such as docetaxel(DTX)can trigger chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy(CIPN),which is characterized by unbearable pain. This study was designed to investigate the analgesic effect and related neuronal mechanism of low-frequency median nerve stimulation(LFMNS)on DTX-induced tactile hypersensitivity in mice.METHODS:To produce CIPN,DTX was administered intraperitoneally 4 times, once every 2 d,to male ICR mice.LFMNS was performed on the wrist area, and the pain response was measured using von Frey filaments on both hind paws.Western blot and immunofluorescence staining were performed using dorsal root ganglion and spinal cord samples to measure the expression of brainderived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).RESULTS:Repeated LFMNS significantly attenuated the DTX-induced abnormal sensory response and suppressed the enhanced expression of BDNF in the DRG neurons and spinal dorsal area.CONCLUSIONS:LFMNS might be an effective nonpharmaceutical option for treating patients suffering from CIPN via regulating the expression of peripheral and central BDNF. | Dong-Wook Kang Jae-Gyun Choi Hee Ju Song Jaehyuk Kim Miae Lee Taehee Kim Suk-Yun Kang Yeonhee Ryu Hwa Seung Yoo Jin Sun Lee Jin Bong Park Sang Do Lee Hyun-Woo Kim | 2023 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,4: | 0 |
